Hello people, I'm a silent follower on this thread. I need your advice. I am 34 years old with HND certificate. I got a bible college that is willing to give me admission for a degree program in Mission field. I intend paying the tuition after trv. Please is I'd like to know your opinion/ expert advice. Thanks
Emmm, just before you proceed to pay fees. You may need to really consider this move to give yourself a chance of getting a study permit.

How is mission field significant to your advancement(career or current activity)?

Why will it be better to study it in canada and not nigeria?

What have you been doing prior to this intended degree in mission field?

The answers are actually not for me but your application most likely will be scrutinized from this light. So you have to answer these questions literally and even more in documentation and claims in your application otherwise, you risk your application refused for purpose of visit.

@Canadiannurse request from Lagos that your bags should be routed/tagged to Winnipeg (by providing them with your montreal winnipeg ticket) to avoid payment for luggage. But don't forget to pick up your bags in Montreal and do a bag drop off at the check in counter for winnipeg for free.

Cheers
Once luggages are tagged to final destination, they usually don't leave the tarmac. The handling services officials will use the tags on the luggages to load the arriving luggages into the connecting flights.

Passengers don't get to see them till final destination.
They ones without tags of transfer/connecting flights are loaded to the conveyor belt for passenger claim on arrival of the airplane.

Besides, i don't think any airline would tag, attend to tickets they did not issue or issue boarding pass for another airline they don't have a kind of agreement with. They will only issue tickets or tag luggages to where their aircraft stops if an agrement with another airline is non-existent and then passengers would go through security/immigration(if applicable), claim luggage and proceed to the next flight.

In the case in context, i think if Royal air maroc have this agreement with air canada, @CanadianNurse will be issued all his boarding pass in lagos and likely get his study permit in winnepeg since it is an International airport with facilities for international arrivals.

If air maroc doesn't, then he will have to stop over at Montreal, go through immigration, get his study permit, claim luggages and then check into air canada's flight to Winnipeg.

Finally got my tickets to Winnipeg
Royal Air Maroc

Lagos to Casablanca (royal air Maroc)

Casablanca to Montreal(royal air Maroc)

Montréal to Winnipeg (Air Canada)

Now my question is

Where do I get my study permit?
Do I have to get my luggage at Montreal and check it into air Canada?

AGAIN WHICH IS MY POINT OF ENTRY WHERE I GET MY STUDY PERMIT MONTREAL OR WINNIPEG?

CC:mesh2003 derel Austinpee4 dogice Salford1
Thing is, SOME international airlines already have partnership with air canada to transfer passengers and take them to their final destination within canada without a need to check in at any stopover. Such airline issue the tickets(including that of air canada flight) and all the boarding pass to final destination from point of departure. In such partnerships, once your luggages are checked in from your departure point, you get them at your final destination. You only connect with your flights from the stopovers inside the terminal without checking in again.

So confirm with Royal Air Maroc if such partnership exist with air canada. They should be in a good position to advice you on how you will proceed so you know where you will get your study permit and your luggages.

For those planning to apply for Study visa from other countries....

My friends who applied from the USA with a processing time of 5 weeks finally waited it out and contacted them via Request Form on CIC website.

She received a response stating that her application is being processed at the "Accra" office and therefore she should contact them and not the LA office.

So I guess they are still using the Nigerian 14weeks processing time for Nigerian applicants applying abroad.

Just thought I should share...

Goodluck to all of us.
Please, let me ask. Did your friend apply in the US with an online application or submitted a paper application in LA?

The ambassador of Cameroun got back to me yesterday and said that there is no visa to Cameroun for 90 days but if I want a visa more than 90 days, I have to send him my reason of visit to Cameroun with paperwork and they send it to Cameroun for approval before giving me the visa. thanks alot. again. my job function is general operations, cash n teller, treating intra-bank transfers, but they are at the basic IT related stuffs. so i want to move to the IT session and i need an IT background.been working for 3 yrs plus.though at first as a marketer then moved to operations.
Emmm.. A career switch at this point may have to follow evidences of some activity prior to such switch. It will have to be in evidential form( trainings, conferences, work, research) to substantiate and justify such switch.

This is because both your academic and work experience is not IT related so no stand point would be established to compel a field change. From what we see often here, such career change usually don't fly even with a well written SOP.

So i'll advice you get some activity in IT for atleast a year (an intense activity)which will have pointers that a master degree will significantly advance you in your new found field of endeavour. Other than this, you may want to pursue higher degree in what you have extensive work in and in this case, your current job in the bank.

Are those vocational activities related to ur intended program? also if u want to state that u might have to show proof (like the certs u got for them). @Austinepee4 what do u have to say to this bro?
Well, if the vocational activities can explain the study gap and ATLEAST show relativity to intended program just as you mentioned, it will be good. The more the study gap explanation/ proof of the vocational activity tilt towards intended program, the better the chance.

So i'm with you bro on this one.

Goodafternoon everyone, I have a question bothering me hence I've been unable to submit my visa app yet for Jan2018 ...I've just been depressed and using this forum to ease my mind by frequently learning...
1.Please, Does my sponsor need to transfer funds to my account and still print a statement of his account or I'll be the one to print the statement after he transfers even if he will eventually have a low balance after the transfer .. (Note:Na my own money i send to am because he broke presently now bt na rich man tho#big salary#)i have his supporting documents cos he's my guardian also

2.If I'm to use a co-sponsor,how do i do this, does he also have to transfer money to my account too...
Lets say my tuition and living expenses sum to 18kCad, does he have to transfer some funds to my account... Preferably another bank account or same...
I know my questions seems odd, The thing is i have enough funds to cover my undergrad studies and even that of my siblings but the funds are/were paid to me as my late parent's death benefit hence i can't present myself as sponsor because i don't work, still a kid tho cool
Please Beautiful people someone gimme a breathe of fresh air
Austinpee4, Canadiannurse,Guru and aspiring gurus your suggested inputs will be much appreciated... And to the TRV expectants may God cause you to smile and bring your Canadian dream as mine to reality soonest... God bless y'all
The thing is, if you have sufficient funds to cover your program for the 4 years, you do not need a sponsor or co sponsor.

You only need to demonstrate and prove to officers that these funds are and will be available to you. However you choose to do that will be up to you. A one time bank draft in convertible currency, or an account opened for this purpose will suffice. All IRCC is interested in is that you have available funds for your program. While they ask for the first year, it is not a a rule that you cannot show funds for your entire program if you have it.

Just make sure it is convincing that funds will be available for you if you have everything for your program. Once you do this well, there will be no need for sponsor etc. You simply act as a self-sponsored applicant and explain where you got all the funds you will expend during your program since you are still young and going for an undergraduate program.

Note: having all your funds will mean, your tuition *4 + 10,000CAD* 4.

Finished NYSC in 2015

Oh i see. Sometimes, purpose of visit may arise from an unclear logical reason for the program intended. i.e How the program will be of benefit to applicant and how it will in turn advance his/her career. This is where a good purposeful statement comes in.

You know, being a teacher may not automatically mean you need a master degree. You will have to convince the visa officer why a master degree is needed. Reasons could be from a need for more grabs of advanced curricular content as you intend to sufficiently be rounded in the evolution of new methodologies of teaching in your area. The point i'm trying to make is that, your aim has to be very precise. You can as well, pick a particular area in your teaching job that you are currently having challenges and that the master degree program will avail you a great opportunity to further strengthen you skills to be able to help your students become solid in your taught course.

Btw, i hope your intended master degree in education has it's specific area and not a general master in edu. This can also inform the decision of a visa officer because, your undergrad study is reflective of chemistry, (dunno if you were teaching chemistry as well). If the master degree specified chemistry as the area you will study, it becomes logical in reasonable light and whatsover you write in a SOP will only affirm the fact that your intent has precision and your study is for a purpose. Please have this at hand as you plan to re-apply.

Also endeavour to get your GCMS note first before you apply again.

All the best!

WHAT! AUSTINEEPEE4.

Bro do you mean I have to start afresh and register a new IELTS exam inorder to get a direct admission? That's kinda very stressful seriously, sitting for another exam.

Does it that implies that was the REASON FOR PURPOSE OF VISIT?
Well, it's actually up to you. You can also make your school waive the condition of completing the ESL by proving to your intended school that you studied sufficient english during your secondary school days just as @mcobex suggested.

Just don't present the ESL to the embassy for any reason. Present the offer for the undergraduate program you intend to study without a condition to study english first.

You studying ESL most likely was the reason for the PURPOSE of VISIT ticked.

What is actually your job role in the bank you work?

If it's IT related, then you have a chance. You only need to prove to them that your next position/role as an IT expert will require advanced knowledge and skills hence your intent of obtaining an advance degree to further hone your skill set.

Your uncle will have to give you the funds for your program and living expenses for the first year and also swear an affidavit of support so you are covered for the second year. He will also state why he decided to expend the huge funds for your study.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Austinpee4:
Frankrobbn1:
Well, I had a conditional acceptance letter into ESL (English as a Second language) program which runs for 12 weeks, which was attached to my undergraduate Acceptance letter indicating that after my completion of ESL program, I can now enroll with my degree program in the school.

Area of study wasn't specified, but in my SOP I explained to them that after my ESL program, I will enroll into my undergraduate degree program in computer sciences which is the faculty of science i was accepted by the school.

I also attached that I have work in a company as a system Administrator and together with my 6 months diploma certificate award in desktop publishing, which I used to gain a job after my secondary school education.
Bro, the bold is actually the issue with your application. You know, going from an english speaking country to study english in canada(even prior to your program) may not be acceptable by most visa officers. They would rather expect that if indeed you need to improve your english, attempt TOEFL(test of english as a foreign language), IELTS(International english language testing system) to fulfill the condition of your program before you begin the undergraduate you eventually want to pursue.

So it will be imperative that you put this at the back of your mind in your next attempt. See if you can fulfill the english condition of your program and get direct admission into the program before you reapply. They will not believe you want to study genuinely going through the ESL no matter the duration. Your english can be improved here in nigeria through the test i mentioned to give you direct admission.
So please, attempt it from here, fulfill your condition and get your admission before you apply again.

Regards.

Oh okay, I was actually making reference to the bolded statement about returning home before applying for study permit, I believe it's possible to apply from any country provided you have legal status in that country.
Yes, it is possible to apply from other countries with legal immigration status.

Meanwhile, the image you uploaded did not show the exceptions of those wishing to apply within canada.

Only these category of people can apply within canada:

- Minor children studying at the primary or secondary level

- Exchange or visiting Student(s)

- Student who have completed a short term course or program of study that is a condition for acceptance at a designated learning institution

Other person(s) wishing to study for more than 6 months in canada will have to leave canada and apply from outside canada.

I doubt this is true, there are some people here that applied from other countries, e.g. Maziude, judebebo etc
It is actually true. You cannot change a visiting or business visa to a study permit from within canada. An applicant will have to apply from outside canada.

The people you mentioned all applied from outside canada and were all students in their respective countries of residence. The contextual issue is applying within canada for a study permit.

@ the bold statement, how sure are you? I know someone who studied Zoology in Nigeria and is going for Msc Biology in Canada this fall. His TRV has been approved and guess what? He did NOT even attach a SOP.
The whole body of my post already answered the line as emboldened. Anyway, this person you know probably don't have the same profile as @imoriafe. So it may not be in place to use it as a clear example.

Having worked for 4 years in the bank, any further progression will be seen from this premise. Unless there have been significant activities(research, projects, conferences and all) in botany/biological sciences from when he finished undergrad. If this isn't the case, a good question will be at what instance is this interest for this master of biology? A good answer to this is preceding activities in area of proposed program no matter how little within the 4 years since completion of undergrad study.
The banking industry i will presume would not have related activity in biological sciences.

There is actually no case of SOP here. This is a case of progression!

imoriafe:
please all im consedering going for msc biology wit my first degree in botany. i graduated 4years ago but have been working in a bank after graduation. will i have issues wit processing my study visa?
Yes, you most likely will. Unless you are able to convince a visa officer how an msc in biology would improve your career as a banker. You left school 4 years ago which will make it assumable that you have found a career path in the financial sector. Going back to study a program in line with a degree you left 4 years ago without SIGNIFICANT activity in it may be difficult to sail smoothly.

Like i pointed out, you have to justify your intent, study plan, career progression going for your proposed program and why the msc in bology will be just what you need at this point.

So the point is ' What will an msc in biology add to'?.. If this is not clearly seen aside the usual 'SOP', your purpose of visiting canada might be questioned.

bro what if she doesn't have any other means of raising the money to pay while she waits for nddc to pay? I feel if she can't get that she should just ask nddc for another letter reassuring cic that they will make the payment as soon as he gets she gets her trv. I also want to use the case of schools that doesn't accept tuition fee until trv has been approved, cic understands that as long as the school writes a letter to that effect and also the applicant can get a letter of assurance from his/her bank (sponsor ) that the funds will be transported as soon as the applicant gets his/her trv. NB: From the little I know I think she doesn't have any other way to raise the tuition fee.
Well, if IRCC wanted a letter of assurance for tuition, it would have been spelt out. Remember, she also showed SUFFICIENT AVAILABLE funds from her uncle meaning funds are available aside the NDDC scholarship.

So providing only the assurance letter from NDDC will mean there is actually no funds from uncle as claimed and that could affect the overall credibility of sponsor and ability to live up to the responsibility of sponsorship. I'll still suggest, @pureRuby find a way to atleast pay the first year tuition as instructed or have funds in canada atleast. The application is 85-90% sure at it stands now, anything to make it a 100% will be best. I just wish she can find funds to do this before the duration expiration.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Austinpee4:
@pureRuby,

Just as most people have adviced, see how you can get funds and proceed as instructed by the embassy. Since you were asked to pay your fees and give the assurance for living expenses., do exactly that. Like one moniker mentioned, they know about most government funded scholarship and it's inadequacies.

Find a way to transfer your tuition to your student account. Find out from your school if they contracted western union global solution or other third parties for international transfer or get the school's account to transfer your first year tuition. Some schools allow international transfers to students' account and deduct tuition and other fees from there at the beginning of each academic sesssion.

All the embassy wants is that funds are domiciled in canada .Anything other than this may not be good.

Your application approval is imminent and it's in your hands.

All the best.

My people how una dey....Longest time. I'm indeed very sorry for being MIA.

I have been superbusy at work lately and a lot of have happened in the past few weeks, my visa application delay being one of them. I give thanks to God. I didn't learn my lesson from my previous refusal apparently grin. I took a calculated risk in using a program that is not directly related or consistent with my previous study to apply for trv. Despite the patent inconsistency. Before I applied for visa, i was given an offer of admission for a program that is directly related to my previous study but because of fees and no hope of funding from the program, I opted for another program that is cheaper but not directly related to my previous study. I knew the risk, yet I took it. It was plain stupidity but I learnt my lesson. Although I managed to convince myself that the two programs are connected, however, it appears the VO does not share my view as enshrined and contained in my sop hence purpose of visit. This does not in any way undermine the importance of an sop. After I submitted my application, It became dawn on me that I messed up, I should have applied with the LLM program notwithstanding the fee. More importantly since a colleague of mine was earlier refused because of the same program. So it is fair to say that I kinda saw it coming grin

Now I have learnt my lesson.....never take risk whether calculated or not, the VO may not understand the formula you used in arriving at the conclusion when it comes to Canadian Study permit application. grin

I have moved on sha cheesy......EE is the new deal for me.

To all those whose applications have been approved, I congratulate and celebrate you. Particularly my brother from another womb osemigho, God bless you abundantly my dear friend. This is the beginning of new achievements and success to come. I'm really proud of you baba. .
