Hello guys,I intend to submit my application by paper route and someone told me that for paper application all the documents to be submitted would be the original copies.pls I Wil like to know if these information is true.
Only your offer letter(soft copy printout in coloured form is also accepted) , bank statements and any formal letter addressed to the embassy should be original. Other supporting documents are acceptable as photocopies.

Thanks so much I have been able to fill the forms properly and the barcodes generated.
But please one more thing , my chosen programme will only last for one year and six months. I don't intend to travel with my wife and kids.so, I'm wondering if I actually need to fill out the Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union
Since you are LEGALLY married, you do not need to fill the declaration form. It is actually for people who are not married but have been together in union as though they were married with some acceptable level of commitments.

In your case, you don't need it.

I believe application assessment/processing and visa issuance are 2 different things. From what I gathered online, applications are processed all across the world. Even paper applications are scanned by the VFS and placed on some central online portal, to be picked up by a less busy VO, across the world. However, once your app is approved by a VO, the visa will be issued by the appropriate VAC (ie: the one where you submitted your app/ the nearest issuing centre to your country/the centre you selected in your app/ etc). This is based on my reading, no one knows for sure, how the applications are handled.
Actually, this is not COMPLETELY correct. While i agree that VFS help in handling application, this is ONLY for the initial stage of it. Their duty is largely to arrange documents, verify each is signed and filled correctly and then transmitted to the embassy on the next business day through courier.

They DO NOT participate in any INTERNAL assesment. VAC do NOT issue visas. It is strictly the responsibility of the embassy to approve a study permit application and issue visas to citizens that require a TRV to travel to canada.

Also, the process from visa application to how it is handled and returned back to the applicant is always on the appropraite websites. Even IRCC have stated key areas they look out for when reviewing each applications including the stipulation of the IRCC acts and regulation which is made known to the public.

The discretionary part of the visa officers on each application is the only part no one can ascertain.

Boss, for available sum. It should be the amount available for your studies. In most cases, it is better to show you have more than the amount stipulated (i.e tuition plus 10k). But if you cannot, showing you have the stipulated amount i.e tuition, 10k and some extra will do. I suppose the amount in the SOA supercedes that.

The above is my opinion. More so, i did not use SOA so i might be wrong.

I think you should wait for the gurus to help out, i am limited in this area.

Guys, please help her out.
I also agree with you.

@nairalandnewbie, your funds available should be alittle more than the equivalent of your tuition+10,000CAD.Your transportation funds will be look at too. Also, the available balance in the SOA should be in some excess of the declared funds available.

Hi Nlanders, pls I want your opinion
My situation:
Fiancee just got admitted to Uni of Sak for her Masters and she wants us to travel together. My concerns are:
1. Marriage would happen just 2 weeks before we apply. Should we apply together, will VO not raise eyebrows marriage was solely for VISA purpose.
2. Should she apply alone as married, then I apply after she has traveled.

Pls advise.
1. The fact that you are LEGALLY married to your wife and have proven it with an official document makes it valid even if it is for 2 hours before applying for her visa. There is a law/act that is followed by each visa officer in making decision on an application. One is to satisfy an officer that you are legally married and have proven it. So if she can prove this, then she meets the requirement of the act.
Even if it were a scam marriage sef, your stay in canada will be subject to her study permit. The day both of you sieze to be married in canada, you will be well on your way back home. So there is no eyebrow in this one.

However, to emphasis and show that her sole aim of going to canada is for study, she can apply first and then later you join through the spouse open work permit application. This will also give her a good home tie in you being in nigeria.

But if both of you feel you have stronger hometies already and meet other requirements of a study permit, by all means you can apply alongside her.You will be issued the SPOUSE OPEN WORK PERMIT once both applications are approved.

She will be your wife as at when she is applying (there is nothing like new or old wife...Lol cheesy) and a very good and compelling discretionary reason officers may consider is the fact that both of you are newly weds and will need alot of time together. This will also help your wife emotionally during her study. She can use a statement of purpose(SOP) to mention this if you consider applying with her. Any angle you see it from, u still have advantage.

2. First answer is pretty much sufficient for your second question.

I have seen people whose applications were handled in London.
Very few and rare case(s). Most online application would be processed within an applicant's region of residence. This will aid easy processing without violating any exisiting laws surrounding transmission of international passport accross international borders. Alot of agreement has to be reached before it is allowed. I doubt the canadian government will want to enter into that when it has other visa offices near the applicant performing same duties with a better grab and understanding of each supporting document submitted.

Guess you applied through paper route? because if it's online, it doesn't necessarily have to go to Accra. It can go to any other visa issuing office Canada operates worldwide
Most likely Accra visa office process online study permit application. They will better understand and interprete supporting documents from Nigerian applicants since the serve nigeria and can easily request additional document(s) if need be.

this type of VO's are the ones that look out for the slightest reason/s to deny an applicant undecided cry . Very unfortunate for the applicant. Some VOs would have contacted the applicant or school for verification (using student ID).

It would have been better if issue of misrepresentation had come in my view as it will had given the applicant the opportunity to respond to this
Especially dealing with Nigerians and our smart nature. Anybody can fall victim. Also, those folks are making huge money off applicants.. Rather unfortunate.

Hmmm. Bro, this is unbelievable. Wait, is the above reason from the GCMS note? Insufficient funds could mean something else but not the above reason. CIC can easily confirm payment of fees via any means including simple phone call to the contacts on the offer letter.
Well, it looks unbelievable but it is what it is! GCMS file pointed to unverified proof of funds available for tuition.

How would the school verify the payment if the reciept as issued by the them is different ? It could be that the number was the only thing needed to confirm it from their system. The school issued a reciept to PA that had the reciept number on it. While PA tried to convert the reciept to a PDF file(wasn't on PDF), he didn't copy all the details. The number was at the tail end and he didn't include it in his own printout and it cost him.

Affirmative bro! It was unbelievable till both documents were cross checked and the difference was noticeable.

I think he is also fortunate the issue of mis-representaion didn't come up.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Austinpee4: 2:16pm On May 23, 2017
Just saw an application refused for "insufficient funds to pay for tuition" only.

Reason? Applicant was careless to print the tuition reciept from the school without noticing that the reciept number was not included in his printout. It was his fault and he acknowledged it.

I guess CIC tried to verify the payment and didn't also request a new proof of payment from him (it's possible they thought it was a smart move). Every aspect of the application was solid. Funds available and waiting in his account in canada for living expenses is $C20, 000. First year tuition fully paid but that little carelessness will cost him a new processing fee.

Abeg, make we dey check every details! Even if you took first in sightseeing, allow another person go through your application. It could save you something!

A riduculous reason of refusal. This one dey pain!

Hello Gurus,

Please I need to know, what are the original document to include in the paper route submission aside you Int'l Passport and bank statements.

I was also concern about notarizing document, if they'll go alongside the originals. Is there any need to still notarize them?

Thank you very much.
Your admission letter (you can also print a soft copy in coloured form) and any letter formally addressed to the embassy.

There is no obligation to notorize any document.(Based on the visa office instruction).Exception will be if the authenticity of the document is
not established. Eg. Issuing body, organisation, company etc.

If they have valid signatures, stamps and seals, do well to include photocopies and submit. If the embassy need specific notorization of any of your document, they will instruct you to do so.

Hello Guru's,

please am preparing my application package for next week. i need your help with very little info. I am submitting my statement of account as a self sponsored individual. i am a private pactitioneer/self employed physiotherapist that do home services here and dere, as well as a fully employeed physiotherapist. Here are my concerns:

1. my private practices is linked with a friends company, so clients pay to me but under my colleaques company name. thats the requirement by my board for licencing. should i submit invoice/recepit along with my application for all the transactions above 100k? will that be necessary? however, i have my personal tax clearance and our company tax clearance and etc.

2. do i need a letter of introduction from my full time paid job and my self employed paid job. remeber, i work free lance under a company that links me with clients and i work full time as a pt.

3. must i submit my tax clearance certificates from my full time job? all in all i have been working for 5years actively non stop.

Please I need your help with this questions
1. You should explain how you earn your income through his company and also indicate that it's a requirement by your licensing body. Add the company documents, other financial doc and any evidence of your practicing license. Remember, you are justifying how your income is being earned.

2. It will be good if you get the introductory letter from your full time job. The company you are also engaged in free lancing can write a letter of recommendation indicating your involvement with them and not necessarily an introductory letter. Your letter of explanation should help expantiate on the self employed job. You can't be working full time in one place and full time again in another. Doesn't add up.

3. You are not obligated to include tax clearance from your full time job since you don't own it. However, if the company what to show that the are well established in nigeria and pay government levies, you can have them give you to include in your application. A reference to that should also be included in whatsoever letter they will issue on your behalf. That way, there is no confusion as to the essence of inclusion of the tax clearance.

Please any idea on schools with masters in Information Technology to resume september or January. please the length of time for application feedback should be short, a week to two weeks. thanks... write ur suggestions ill be expectant. Gracias Amigos...
You should start planning towards january or sept 2018. Most schools have closed their admission process for international students resuming in sept 2017.

Google will help you better in your search and also, the idea of getting masters admission within 2 weeks should be erased from your mind. It is usually not likely. Search for your program of choice, apply in time and begin the process early. Most masters admission take months to secure.

Thank you Austin,

Please how do i go about it, won't they say is a third party payment with Form A

Pls help with suggestion
You first need to establish that your school contracted western union global solution/pay to receive international currency transfer on their behalf. If they do, the process is straight forward, you only need to go to their website(western union), navigate to their student services, fill your all appropraite details, input the amount of your tuition and it will give you a print out of the dollar equivalent. Take the print out to your bank and they will use it to transfer the funds to your student account.

They bank won't restrict such because your school name and your details will be on the print out you will take to them. It's still a direct transfer to the school even though a third party is involved. So worry less. The banks are used to it already.

Please house my offer letter said room and board $11,000. is this different from CIC mandatory $10,000

$CAD 10,000 covers your living expenses for a year which includes room and board. Since you have 11k on your offer letter, fill it as written on the letter. It still covers your living expenses.

Very helpful, thanks. Once concern though, the child has not been accepted to any school yet, so what does she put in the
question of 'if you have been accepted in a designated institution and name of institution' and thats a compulsory

These questions are applicable if the child is going to study. The form you are filling may not be the one for an accompanying minor or the visit visa form. Check and fill the appropraite form.

Hello
I have been a silent follower on this thread for a while, I have applied for study visa twice and have been delayed.
Reason- purpose of visit, and recently other reasons- based on your academic History and Study Plan - I am not convinced you are a bonafide student.
I need advice to know if I can reapply a third time.

Profile
BSc Mass communication 2000 but have been in the banking industry since then.
Admission was gotten in post Bach diploma in accounting.
Sir/ma'am, your years of experience is way too much to go for a post graduate diploma program. Seek admission for an MBA or consider the skilled worker program. 10/10 that your application will still be refused for purpose of visit if you keep applying with same program.

I would have loved to order for it but 40 days is too much. Am going to prepare a better application and pray harder. I will look into every department of the application and sort it out.
How will you then prepare a better application if you do not actually know what went wrong? Guess? The best you will do for yourself is to get ur GCMS file. 40 days is the maximum period by canadian law to supply the file to applicant. Most times, it comes out from the 3rd to the 4th week way before the 40th day. So apply for it now so it starts counting.

Well informed.... Thanks @Austinepee4

I earlier posted this; please avail me with the information if you have, thank you.

Hi guys,

1) How long does it take for school to receive payment of fees? From date of payment at the bank. And what is the CBN exchange rate for payment

2) All letters should be addressed to the Visa Offer or Embassy? Can someone please provide the correct address.

3) will it be out of place to make SOP look formal. I mean, putting up the receipients (VO) address and ending it with Yours faithfuly.
1.This will be dependent on the school. If a third party bank is involved in the transaction between you and the school, it could take 3-7 business days. If it's directly to the school's account, 48hrs to 5 business day from date of debit. Form A transaction rate is still pegged at 360 naira to a dollar.

2. There is no particular correct address. Addresing it to the visa officer, high commision of canada, accra, ghana or lagos nigeria are all correct. (you can still google the actual address if it's really important to you)

3. You can choose to make it informal or formal. Non has any advantage over the other. The overal message it carries is what officers will be interested in.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Austinpee4:
The rate of refusal for 'PURPOSE OF VISIT ' is becoming alarming! Program consistency, masters admission, PHD admission, consistent work experience is seemingly not just sufficient again. Everybody is now susceptible to this reason of refusal! I have seen in a couple of days refusals that have left me speechless!

I'm thinking our overal plan and reason for going for the program MUST just be beyond convincing. We must begin to pay enough attention to our applications and emphasis the need to pursue further study while also stating objectively what we stand to get with it. This interest of further study show be in such a way that it was a planned step. From undergraduate study through to current activity coupled with our achievements prior to applying should show significant progression. This way, our intent will appear more delibrate than situational. The current country situation is not helping matters and the scrutiny of visa(all categories) applicants is becoming outrageous. So any move will be subjective.

I guess CIC now pay attention to intent rather that consistencies of some sort. I'll advise that we do more work in making sure our intent both with our intended program and after study is overwhelmingly outlined and evidenced through showing recent achievements, short term goals as well as the longer term ones reflecting that a higher degree would further add to them.

Like i mentioned in one of my posts recently, admission is purely meeting academic requirements while the study visa is all in one. It goes beyond having acceptance or funding from a school. The Why, if, when, and how must all add up because God's mercy and grace is always available to us when you do our part. It's like a principle we must follow in one way or the other.

It's well!
