Thanks. I've been looking for this information. Can you please link me to where I can read more on it?
The only information I see on their website is details of how much you should have.

@bolded, is it okay to use 1 and half years?
You can even decide to print from the very first day the akant felt the fresh breath of money inside it to show CIC say u don dey hammer on full time bases since 18BC! grin

Main thing is that the last 6 months prior to your application is shown including the submission month or atleast one month prior submission.

Here is the link to download the visa office instruction booklet IMM 5832 for more useful infomation.

Good day house.

For how long does SOA remain valid? For example, if I intend to apply for study permit in 3months time, can I get a bank statement now and still use it's after 3 months? For how long does SOA remain valid?

hi austinpee4,

Are these documents all i need to get from my sponsor? Personal and business bank account, Sponsor`s International passport main page, Sponsorship letter and affidavit of support.
@Bold, If he is the sole signatory of the business account, it's fine. Otherwise, stick to personal account.

The listed documents are also in order. You may also want to prove relationship to the sponsor if you can, but if you cannot, some level of commitment will be good too( funds transfer to your account) as the affidavit will also commit the sponsor under an oath.

Hello pls I just Stumble on this thread yesterday. Pls my younger brother got admmission into thompson rivers university for his Post baccalaureate degree, pls house is it advise that he apply with his wife and a kid, we re scared because I heard that he he apply with the wife that they might refuse him

Just one kid
Pls ur urgent response will be appreciated
If he meets all the requirements of a study permit and that of going with family, he WON'T be refused.

However, Its always advisable a family person applies first and then later family members can join afterwards. This is so because the family here in nig will stand as hometies and also the financial burden of going with the entire family at once will be less.

Nevertheless, if he can show he has sufficient funds to cater for them, have other strong hometies in nig that will propel return after his study, he can apply with them.

But note, there is alot of both financial and ties burden to prove to a visa offcer when going with family members. If he is equal to the task, he can.

Please, regarding the statement of account details. If i am sponsoring my self. I have my tuition + cad $10000 (just as quoted from the cic web page) for just one year and the duration of my program is about 2 years will I be able to get an approved TRV ?
As self sponsored and after you meet the requirement of tuition fees funds and 10,000CAD for your first year of study, you will have to show funds to cover subsequent year(s) in the form of either liquid cash or a very reliable source of income generation (your business, rental property, etc).

I have not heard of any bank processing formA in CAD instead of USD. You can convert from USD to CAD using the USD/CAD exchange rate
They actually do. Depending on the domicile account and currency on the payment invoice. CBN will only approve it in USD but the bank will do the cross rate and CAD equivalent will be sent directly to the school in canada. Canadian school won't take USD nau. it must be recieved by them in their currency.

You are very right bro! But remember the person in the story you just quoted didn't have to ask for fee refund as in the case being discussed. The OPs worry is not all about changing schools, but getting his refund.
I get. I just wanted to point that out to clearify the changing school stuff ONLY. Just like you and @Eraytee already advised, waiting to know the outcome is the solution. Besides, it's only when the application is approved that the aim of getting a refund will be achieved especially since he has applied already. So i'm totally with you two on this one.

@ eraytee...i used the acceptance letter from the school for my visa application which is still in process. How do cancel the admission and ask for a refund? Please i really need to understand how this works. The program starts in may but the other one i just got (which is a preferred option starts in August). I need the money to make up. Again, how can i change school and at what stage do i notify cic. Please friemds, i need answers. God bless you all.
Just like you've been advised already, wait till your study permit is approved first before you start worrying about every other thing. While we must remain hopefull about our application, you should wait till a final decision is reached.

As for school changes, i responded to a kinda similar post on this but his was 2 different programs with different levels. Two major conditions of a study permit are that you are enrolled and actively pursuing your studies on an outgoing basis while in canada. So if you need to change your program/school you make sure you meet these conditions.

I heard a story of someone that applied for a study permit with uni of alberta offer letter(master)and got admission to a program(master) he loved in uni of manitoba and wanted to change. What he did was he paid his full tuition and 'ENROLLED' in university of manitoba(this meet the condition on a study permit) got to the border in canada, Showed CBSA uni of manitoba offer letter and proof of fees payment and enrolment, got into canada and then notified CIC of a change in DLI.

So i'll advise you wait till you get a final decision on your application before you proceed with anything.

will changing course of study to masters from the previous at this point be a factor for decision to be made about my trv application?
Not completely. Each application for a study permit is treated as a fresh application. However, they may review previous refusal reasons to find out if there are significant new information in a case of reapplication with previous program.

If you intend to use a master degree offer other that the flying school's, be rest assured they will review your application as a fresh application.

Your reason for going for the masters, your previous activities in relationship to the masters, how it will better add to you, your financial strength and home ties MUST add up accordingly in any choice you finally make. Be it masters or the flying school program.

Best regards.

Good day house, please my co-sponsor is using a corporate account that bears her name, because her savings account doesn't have inflows like her business account. She will be transferring my tuition from the account to my savings account.

Please is this going to be a problem?
Bearing her name does not in any way mean you have access to the funds therein. The major thing if you do not intend to have the co-sponsor pay your tuition before applying is that funds MUST be accessible by you the applicant. This is also why a 3rd party/co-sponsor will have to do more than just writting or stating in a letter of sponsorship. Some level of commitment must be seen to the applicant in support of what ever he/she have written down.

So deduce the possibility of you having sufficient funds from that premise because officers most likely will be more interested in funds that the applicant have access to than that which the sponsor/co-sponsor do.

Transfering the tuition to you is good and will be irrespective of which account it is coming from as long as the source of the cash will be proven. Once that is done, she only needs to just print both acounts and add.

okay thanks,I initially applied using the admission from the flying school and i was refused based on purpose of visit.
Sorry about that. You need to justify reasons (with proofs) why you are going for the program and how it will be of benefit to you. Your previous educational or work background must reflect that the program is the next major thing you need and will be your overall interest.

In my case now the professional pilot program isn't the same level as that of the masters degree.
By level here they mean at POST SECONDARY. A master degree is at post secondary level of education. If the pilot program is a professional program and does not require university or higher instutitional qualifications as a prerequisite to undergo, it is not at the same level as a masters.

So you will have to meet the requirements of a study permit(if program is more than 6 months) with your flying school program and apply.

Depending on your situation and reason for going for the program, your application may be approved or not.

Don't stress yourself solution is easy.

Get admitted for a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Defer your admission to your flying school.

When you get your visa, you can decide to ignore the Masters admission and go to the flying school.[/color]

@Genius000:wont that raise any alarms, as i will be changing course of study?
When you apply for a study permit with a particular offer of admission for a program and your study permit is approved, you must meet the conditions on the approved permit first before you can change program at the same level.

These conditions specify that the student is enrolled and actively pursuing the program to which a study permit is given, after then, you can choose to change program and notify CIC if there is a change of DLI.

So you cannot apply with a master degree offer and after your application is approved, you use the flying school admission instead even before entering canada. You MUST meet the conditions for the master degree first before you can change to the flying school otherwise it is considered FALSIFICATION of information. This is so because there are different conditions for issuing a study permit. Your master degree program may meet it and your flying school program may not.

Also, both programs and school MUST be at the same level of education if you intend to make this change afterwards.

Hello House , I have really learnt alot from you guys here. I am a graduate of industrial chemistry , worked with a manufacturing firm for almost a yr and wish to study a diploma course in process control/power engineering cause I feel it will give me a foundation knowledge when i do master in an engineering course in the near future. Do you guys think I will have difficulty getting a study permit?
I may not be fully knowledgable to delve into the correlation between industrial chemistry and Process control/power engineering but on a little knowledge, process control/power engineering have extensive foundations of electrical, mechanical and automated control systems.

Based on these, i really can't say if there is a correlation between it and industrial chemistry which is an applied science.

Secondly, one year work experience in a manufacturing firm(assuming you were in d automated dept) MAY not be sufficient to warrant a higher knowledge in a new field for you considering your undergrad is in a diff field and you have spent more years in that than work experience.

So depending on when you finished undergrad, your best shot will either be a masters in industrial chem or you will have to truly convience officers that the diploma in which you seek a study permit for is best and right for you. It will honestly be your call and how you appeal and project your case to a reviewing visa officer will make your chance higher or lesser.

There is no such thing as "i feel it will give me" You MUST prove it with evidence to a visa offcer and then he/she will use discretion to make a final decision.

Alot of folks would have used different strategies too but yours must be outrightly and outstanding as well as very evidential.

Best regards

@johnwick2, yes you can use your previous account to reapply. The only thing that will change is that your new application will have a new application number and that's about it. That account will be your CIC account in all immigration related application in canada.

@Igbouwanile, there will be no need to create any further CIC account. The previous one will suffice for all application.

pls what of a sponsor who is a family friend with a permanent resident status. Her kids are in primary and secondary school and thats almost like free for citizens and permanent residents. What do you think?
Best way to go about this is for the sponsor to pay the full tuition and also transfer your living expenses to you.

By doing so, CIC may not really bother about where he/she resides and all.. Main thing is that you have funds for your study and yourself and can access it at anytime a need arises.

This is the main thing about funds availability. It MUST be accessible by the applicant. This is why a 3rd party sponsor will do more than just stating or writting.

My able gurus in the house, please is it advisable for one to apply with 4 months SOA Company and 6 months or above personal acc, pls advice me.

Thank you all
We have frequently seen here how applicants fail to justify reasons why a company will expend huge resources for a 1-2 years program for an individual/employee. This is understandably so because a company will likely sponsor a value added(to the company) short trips.

So if you have justifiable reasons, you can use a company SOA. If not, do well by using a well built personal SOA of 6months and show prove of the source of the inflowing and accumulated funds.

6 months SOA is the required of nigerian applicants by the visa office. Be it company of personal. You can decide to print more than 6months but not less as instructed by the visa office.

Please House,
Is it entirely possible for someone to be denial study permit on an account of having no previous travel records or history?
Not just for not having a travel history. If you previously contravened the conditions on a previous issued visa eg, overstayed a visa, It can be a single reason for refusal on grounds of travel history. Otherwise, it usually will come with other reasons.

@yemydogg,Austinpee,folaroyal,please kindly help clarify this when it comes to purpose of visit,i hv BENG in mechanical engineering 3years working experience but my dream is to be an entrepreneur as a mechanical design engineer, and I have been admitted in a diploma in design and drafting technology,my strategy of Sop is, to specialize in d area of computer aided design.since in naija uni we use manual or traditional method in designing mechanical devices, please what is your take and advice?
Hmmm.. Both your undergrad and work experience(believing it's in mech too) appears to be in line progressively but where you may have a tall task conviencing the VO will be the rationale behind a choice of a DIPLOMA instead of a MASTERS.

Questions will bother around
1.why a diploma after 4years of study and 3 years of work experience?

2.Will this diploma add and make this applicant competitive enough upon completion?

3. Does he intend to truly use a diploma to conquer and see all the advancements he desires in his career or does he just want to use it as a means to leave nigeria?

These are but a few questions i feel may raise concerns about a choice of a diploma rather than a master which should be a best and natural pick for both academic and career advancement.

However, not everybody need a master degree to add to his/her career and this also will be dependent on the technicality and nature of the applicant's profession since most pgc/pgd are designed to meet work place demands.

largely, it will be up to you to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the diploma you intend pursuing is best for you at this time. You will also do a good job by elaborating and emphasing on the gains you will have with it should your study permit be approved.

So depending on how you point all these out, you could stand a chance. Nothin is impossible but the issue is always how to make each application outrightly portray the purpose it is seeking a permit for, TO STUDY!

But
Okay thanks. I would have to go to first bank then. Since bank only use usd, how do i convert cad to usd if i am to pay cad $1,000. Sorry for my many questions. Thank You
Not a problem, always feel welcome to ask when you need help, people will help you.

Depending on the method your school is requesting the payment, it may or may not be transferred in USD. Banks also transfer the equivalent of maximum 15,000USD or less in CAD and other major foreign currencies.

My school contracted Western Union Business Solution for international transfers and since they are domiciled in the US, fund will first reach them before it is forwarded to canada hence my payment in USD.

Some schools however have their direct account and int'l students can use this during FORM A transactions and the transacting bank will pay the fees directly to the school in CAD.

Lastly, You can walk up to any bank, they all have expedite the FORM A transaction since CBN issued the new directive of completion of the transaction within 48hrs.

Hello aous,

Please I read on cic site that 4 month statement of account is required while applying but someone said it is 6 month. Kindly clarify.

Thanks.
This question have been previously answered just few pages back on this part 12, if you went through quickly, you would have been guided.

Anywhere, the visa office for nigerian applicants requires 6 months statement of account as against the 4 months CIC website requires. So the best thing to do is to print for 6months since it will meet the requirement of CIC website and the visa office.
