ALLAH IS A DEITY!
beside Whom there is none worthy of worship. Dude, stop yelling! |
aribisala0: The trouble with a lot of muslims(and) christians is they hardly read their scripture. WHAT IS A MUSLIM NAMEAre you a muslim? If not, how do you come about defining what an Islamic/ Muslim name is? Do people just post for the sake of it? |
And you think its your name that would distinguish you on the day of reckoning? Allah looks at the heart of men... Your deeds and actions would identify you as a muslim, not arabic nomenclatureMr. Justaqad, All your good deeds and actions would not suffice to identify you as a muslim. If you die "John Paul" as a muslim, you will be raised and judged as a muslim. If you die Pastor Ibrahim as a non muslim, you will be raised that way and judged as such. Let there be no confusion, I hope this helps. You proposed that by bearing Islamic names which are Arabic, we are losing our identity to the Arabs. I counter that by saying, the choice of an individual to use his/her muslim name is more in line with wanting to be identified as a muslim. That does not change your tribe/nationality/race/gender/political affiliation..... Read through my posts again and let me know where you need more clarity. |
justaqad: So if I bear chidi on the day of reckoning I would be confused for a non muslim?Wrong question. The post was in response to the question below. Good try. You seem hell bent on misleading others which is really shameful. Afam4eva: How about "be visible Yoruba or not". Why does your religious affiliation have to be obvious and not your cultural affiliation. Why do you need someone to know you're a Muslim through your name? There is no confusing who a muslim is or a non-muslim is on the day of Judgement. I woulda thought you knew that by now! |
Afam4eva: So, why were you created as a Yoruba and not as a Muslim.Sorry, I gave you too much credit. A similar question to that above is "why were you created an Ibo and not a Christian?" Poorly structured question because they are not mutually exclusive traits. Try again! |
Afam4eva: How about "be visible Yoruba or not". Why does your religious affiliation have to be obvious and not your cultural affiliation. Why do you need someone to know you're a Muslim through your name?Good question. Muslims with understnding know that on the Final Day, your identity that is most important is Religious and nothing else. So do I want to be a muslim on the day of judgement Or do I want to be Yoruba? I do not expect you to understand. At least we agree that the muslim name identifies you as a muslim, not an ARAB! We are making progress ![]() |
justaqad: Let your deeds and actions identify you as a muslim...its most honourable.Identity! Repeat identity! If your first name is "tunde", there is no guarantee that your deeds and actions will be better/more muslim than if it were "hassan" and vice versa. Brother, you are trying to loop the logic. Your original post stipulated that using a non Yoruba / islamic/arabic name is losing your identity to Arabs. The focus should be on that. Again, Identity. We can reserve "deeds and actions" that identify you as a muslim for a new thread. But stay the course on this one. Did we lose our identity to the Brits when we adopted English as our lingua franca? Okay, we lost 80% to them based on your viewpoint, the remaining 20% to France since French is our second official language. I do wonder though if you have other personal issues with your identity overLl. Just wondering because this does not add up. |
Afam4eva: @OPAnd this is where the contention lies. If a yoruba man says "myname is Olatunde" you do not know if he is Muslim, Christian or Pagan. With an Islamic name, the muslim damned all odds and stated " I am a muslim". It is a matter of choice. Be a visible muslim OR not. Not bearing a muslim name does not make you less of a muslim, IMO, but having a muslim name DOES NOT make you lose your culture. |
justaqad: the name Barack is african,Obama is Afrcan American. You are kidding! Right? Obama is Kenyan, Barack, a derivative of Mubarak, Please, don't mislead people. His father was a muslim and that accounted for his names. Even though he is a Christian today, does his name imply that he has lost his American culture. Or does his Kenyan name grant him automatic Kenyan culture? |
justaqad: now you are getting the message, HUSSEIN is his second name. he is american, so he is repping his race.C'mon now, Barack is now English? |
I will read the rest of the post. OP, you may need to understand the significance of the Arabic language in Islam, in matters of life on earth, dying and in the hereafter. My children have a first muslim name, middle American name and a muslim surname. They love iyan and amala. There is nothing reducing their Yorubaness. I do not agree with your viewpoint but you have absolute right to them. |
eyoniggar: We never planned for her to have the baby there, she was going to spend 3 or 4 weeks as usual strictly for shopping. But we decided in the 2nd week that she could just stay over and have the baby there. Now as for the bills, we called the hospital where she was gonna give birth and we made inquries regarding what the bills were like, and we were told that its gonna cost us $8,000, but since shes a foreign patient, she's eligible to 52% off of the total amount, with the bill being calculated to $4,000 plus, I knew I could afford it. Not until after birth, I saw what was an estimated clinic bills: 6k, and hospital bill $16kplus. This although was due to the fact that she had to be attended to specially due to some minor complications during labor.Whatever you set out to do, write and save all correspondence. If you tell the hospital to return the money to medicaid, write a letter, send it with registered mail. Save receipts or any payments that you make. |
Well, I guess a lot of things have changed. The last I recall, it was pretty tough to get a quick appointment so that's a good thing if one can get an appointment within a short period. Also, the guy whose brother was out in 5 minutes, I would say "impressive". The US Embassy must have gone through some amazing transformation. |
Nigerians love good and successful stories. If OP really intends to use this information to help other people, then it is in order that other concerned Nigerians attempt to ensure validity of her claim. I don't think that she needs to put any additional info here, I just have a hard time buying the timeline. Again, advice for whomever may find themselves in a similar situation. |
Time line does not add up! |
At last! Up GEJ, more committees or task forces coming your way. Madam Oby, you make us proud and hopeful. Can we get just a few more people like this to speak up? |
@op This is so unfair! After gym this morning, i really tried to avoid this your thread. I finally click on it to see Delta construction equipment. YEEPA! Mo gbe. I laugh sotay my belle pain me wella. ![]() Please add warning next time. |
@OP are you really sure that you are safe from/with this guy? If a man you have been with for 4 years treats you thisnway and tells you his wife will not believe you, you know he has no good plans for you. You should also know that he may want to ensure that his wife never believes you by whatever means. Have you thought about the child that you are bringing into the world? You are already depriving this child of a family structure from the onset. Think of what is good for the child, forget about your own issues for a moment. There may be people here that were born in a similar way; what are their thoughts? I hope that you make the right decision but telling him or not seems small compared to the danger you may be in. Watch your back girl! FYI-While I do not subscribe to immorality, your crime here in the eyes of man is getting pregnant. There are females (possibly on this forum, too) who partake in extramarital affairs with multiple men but as long asthey do not get caught (pregnant), they remain saints. |
@OP You have received good counsel from a lot of the brothers here. I have also gained a lot from the responses, however, you never said you dreamt and saw what your husband dreamed so I assume that you did not. So this message is for your husband and really for anyone who encounters similar dreams. After saying your prayers and performing the correct sleep etquettes, prepare that you will encounter that dream but have the intention that you will fight the jinn to the death with Allah's help. You must not fear it but must go to sleep with the niyah that you will fight it. I have confidence that this will help a great deal. Do you work at the moment? Is your husband open to the idea? You don't have to answer here but I agree with those who say things are generally tough economically in Nigeria. I can however share a story or two with you. My sister graduated with a second class upper in Chemistry but did not get a job after NYSC. she purchased a freezer, and started to make iceblocks for sale. She lived in Ikotun and the sales were slow. She contacted her friend in Idumota, relocated her freezer there and her friend gave her a weekly return. Of couse, it was a trusted friend. My sister manufactured soap in her backyard and marketed it. She was asked to work as a lab assistant in the University where she graduated. She took the job and about a year into it, she became a lectturer. So, talk about pressure, she is the first child and our family would be considered "not financially buoyant". To support what someone else said, maybe Allah wants your baby to come at the right time and sure you know, Allah knows best. Keep up the spirit of gratefulness for those things you have. @all- the Christians mean "no harm", remember what Allah said about them. They will only be happy when you come join their falsehood because that is all they know. I trust Allah will strenghten your faith. |
> The recent outcry following the ra'pe to death of an Indian woman has been met with surprising apathy by Nigerians online. This should be a wake up call to females in Nigeria and hopefully the rest of African women would follow. In theUS , a videotape of a raped' high school girl was released on the web and this was enough to start an investigation as well as a huge public outcry. Some of the clips were just nauseating and very hard to listen to. In 2012, an Abia State University student was raped' and the video was released to the web. Where does the investigation stand today? There have been callous statements against victims of rape citing their dressing or claiming that they consented. > However, we must not fail to ask if the act itself by the men is right. Are we as a society saying that it is okay for a man to become an animal? What example are we teaching our future generations of men? It is difficult for a rape' victim to come forward and worse when she is subject to endless ridicule by the champions of justice that should ensure appropriate application of the law. What bills have been passed in recent times to address the plight of women? Even if there is only one woman in the Nigerian Congress, are the men not husbands, sons, brothers, fathers and grandfathers of women? It appears to all be in line with our culture of self above others until the evil befalls you. The Nollywood connection I am taking a leave of Nollywood films/movies and I hope other women would find the courage to do so Nollywood serves as a better champion for societal improvement. Rape' is hardly ever punished in these movies but rewarded with the girl falling in love with her rapist or the girl being cured of some ailment. The subliminal message being passed here is that it is okay to rape' a woman. > It is never okay to commit any crime against another person. We must rise above the animalistic culture which is being beamed to the whole world via our movies because we can. Back to policy makers and you > Can we therefore as women and lovers of women and girls stand together to address this ill of our society to give some dignity to ourselves? > Will we ever get an update about the victim whose ugly incident became circulated on You tube video? > Can we educate each other on how to be safe from dangerous situations? > Are our NGOs equipped to handle a case to a realistic and satisfactory conclusion? > Or do we just keep watching as our world continues to decay? > > |
@OP You can prove the naysayers wrong about females sleeping their way to the top. I agree that starting at the grassroots level is key. You will come across like minds in the process. There will be A LOT of offers to make you immoral or the typical Naija politician. You will always have a choice to make. Looking forward to hear good things about you starting from your neighbourhood. Good luck and remember, LEADERS WANTED! |
tbaba1234: ^May Allah grant you goodnessMy brother, Amin and to you. Thanks for all your contributions. |
aminho: and who told you am not a Muslim?my name is Muhammad musa amshiYour name does not make you a muslim. I went to school in Adamawa state and knew of a dozen non muslim Ibrahims, Musas and Muhammad. If you say you are one religion, then the other, it becomes harder to believe anything you say. |
tbaba1234: Sister assalam aleikum, you can't just make takfir on people, any one who says he is muslim is one.... Our brothers could have misguided thoughts but that is why we should help each other. He had a post on this NL where he called himself a Christian. so which one is he? BTW, I am not a scholar so I don't even know what "make takfir" means, I just do a little investigation before I process what people post. |
OP is not a muslim. |
maclatunji: Omolola is very deep. That is what makes this story tick.Brother, Pls check yahoo mail! Sos abeg! |
@thebaft I am trying to reach you for some info. Could you please contact me at ayinba@ yahoo.com? Thanks a lot. |
@OP Pray tell us what is wrong with this house? Does it have running water, gas, electricity? Is there a reasonable amount of peace and security? If yes, then this house you pictured here is better than what 90% of Nigerians have at home. Not everyone is going to be rich but at least try 70% being comfotable before saying Nigeria is better thna USA. kokoye: Is this the only house you have seen in the U.S that is owned by a Nigerian ..or you just decided to show this one to buttress your bias or drive home your point? |
Welcome back home, sister. Don't be discouraged, even if your progress seems slow, the biggest deal is your intention. I am rooting for your success! Salaam. |
I knew a brother while in the university in Nigeria. When he preached, he was very passionate, he had a pretty strong voice too. So of course, if and when he argued, he didn't come across as '"cool". However, a few thing I noticed about this brother were 1. He allowed the dissenting individual to have his say ( even if they had a cool voice) 2. He was not verbally abusive or disrespectful 3. He always ended his submission with a reminder of the topic at hand ( i.e., he never got personal or emotional, it was always about knowledge of Islam) 4. He was the gentlest giant when he spoke to the sisters. I fell for him but he was already taken ![]() I hope this provides another way of looking at "not cool" |
Monday morning laff for work! Very creative. Thank you |
Thank you, Rossike! This brightened my day. It is Lagos, it is Naija! Something positive, good enough for me. |

Please tell us. The names YOU Call Muslim names are NOT muslim names they are Arabic names which Arab muslims, christians on non-believers alike ALL bear.
So get your facts right
