@Iyamefa, thanks for all the tips and advice you give here. God bless you.
I just got to Canada 2 months ago and I want to invite my MIL to stay with my 10 months old baby for 6 months after which he will start day care. I will be resuming work soon.
How much details do I put in my invitation letter as per reason for coming and duration of stay?
How much money do I show in my Canada account?
How do I justify MIL family ties back in Nigeria as she doesn't work or trade?
We are a family of 4.. Myself, hubby and 2 kids
Whatever you do, avoid putting anything related to the bold part in your application because you are indirectly saying you are bringing your MIL to come and work.

Education / Re: Is Studying Engineering In Nigeria A Scam? by AZeD1(m): 1:28pm On Apr 14, 2019
The Nigerian educational system has a teaching problem, not a curriculum problem.

For engineering, the basics haven't changed. The laws of motion, thermodynamics and co are still the same as it was in the past.

The maths (Vector analysis, Differential equations are still the same). The problem with the system is we are taught to pass, not taught to know so over the years, the system has graduated people who "know" things but don't know the value of those things.

As someone who has studied in Nigeria and outside Nigeria, I can tell you authoritatively that there are folks who study computer science in the West that don't know how to code. I know this because I did assignments for them.

The Nigerian educational system is a slave - master relationship
between students and lecturers why in the West, its more of a family relationship( I had a lecturer in the UK who wanted me to collaborate on a research with her. ) Whenever I was stuck in my project, my UK supervisor would tell me to go have fun (clubbing, get drunk) because all work and no play wasn't good for me.

We do need to update some of the curriculum, but it not as drastic as the op is making it out to be but the real change needs to be in teaching methods.

Write a program to sort these items in alphabetical order, "salt, grain, money, buhari" - Why on earth should I do this? Most languages have sorting, encryption, graphics libraries in built. Teach me how to use them and I'll be able to be self employed or quickly get a job after school.

To get a job at Google, Apple, Amazon, Facebook et al, you will have to do something like this on a whiteboard not a computer.

Aunty Western Education, some of us have had the grace to study on both divides.. Its easier in the so call ‘West’ with max of 4 courses per semester!
Quality and quantity are not the same thing.

It is easier driving from Lagos to Ibadan (Would you say walking is better because it's harder than driving?)

Get the skills from even YouTube from wherever on the globe, you are good for many roles that doesn’t necessarily require academic qualification benchmarks!

I'm pretty sure you can't see the irony in this point you just made.

How many Nigerian universities are in the top 500 in the world?
If you could pick any university in the world right now to do a science based project, would you choose Nigeria?
How many published papers come out from Nigeria each year?

Nigeria is the way it is because folks like you continue to lie to themselves thinking they are patriotic.

I love Nigeria, I miss those days I stay under some cool breezy dusk with those local pots of full catfish and mortuary standard drinks doing it in the African way.. Nigeria gave me and what I needed at the times and for the fact that I am a global citizen, I had to embark on adventure, it could be the Kenyan Safaris soonest! This is me just globetrotting!

Thank God y’all weren’t born Canadians, y’all would have have been very mean supremacists!

You've still not answered why you left Nigeria to acquire Canadian Permanent Residency...

You can kindly return all the certificates the Nigerian system gave you and see how you can apply for express Entry Na.. Oga statistics.. Speak for yourself..

If the so called Western Education is the best, I can see how the lacuna for professionals have been created by the seemingly best education that they are now soliciting international professionals to fill the spaces!

EE has nothing to do with quality of education.

If our education was good, why are you migrating to Canada?

My Physics teacher taught me Python2x while in SS2. After that he decided to teach us VisualBasic6.0. Fast forward, he started teaching us algorithm during Physics class. I started using VB to write calculators program on my PC during SS3.
I previously work as a financial sec at a Sec school, but resigned due to poor salary structure.
I then fell back on the programming skills I had acquired from my Physics teacher, and that is what is paying the bills.

Today I am a proud self taught developer all thanks to my Physics teacher.

Nigeria became a terrible place because of people like you: always finding a way to justify illegality.

The fact that you think a Soldier even has the right to stop people on the road shows how lost you are.

Hello all,

I would require your advise learned and experienced people, is landing during winter (Jan) a good idea? I am concerned that we may end up spending 3 months being indoors when we land because of the weather. It may make more sense to retain our jobs in Nigeria and land afterwards. I will appreciate your views please.

1. Any advantages of landing in winter?

2. Would one be able to get a job at the time or would you advise we wait until after the harsh weather?

Thank you!
There's no advantage to landing in the winter. I would not even advise it except you are single and have family in Canada.

Before everyone will come saying SARS this and that y can't he simply unlock his phone the truth is we part of the problem here no one won't say they are not a aware of the upscale in fruad and all in this country he ask u to open the phone open it did he ask u for bribe did he say he want to take ur phone yeah people we say he has no right to tell me who nw has right to ..it just dude forming big up and all it won't take anything to just be silient and answer their question instead of forming what u not
SARS has no right to ask anyone to unlock their phone without a search warrant.

You are part of the problems of this country. You don't solve a crime by committing another crime.

Please my people, help a starving brother. I have been pleading for help for some days now. I'm a student who returned to school last week because of the prospects of exams starting on Monday and also because I was opportuned to enter a free ride. my family isn't bouyant enough and my dad has severe high BP that's why I had to find my way so as not to make him to start thinking about where to get money to give me. I haven't eaten a decent food since I got back and am starving.

I am soliciting for help from well meaning people who will be touched enough to hear my plight and have mercy. I am not asking for much, no matter how little, it will go a long way. God bless you all
Bros won't you change format?

You returned back to school in January for exams
You returned back to school in February for exams
You still returned back to school in March for exams

Exam no dey finish for your school?

Good that you are aware of that. When that is solved, ABA and environs would have 24hrs light.

Politics / Re: Nigerian Government May Increase VAT To Fund New Minimum Wage by AZeD1(m): 7:34pm On Mar 19, 2019
I am not surprised. A lot of reasonable people said the new minimum wage is unrealistic but Nigerians being emotional rather than logical would not listen.

If VAT is increased, the workers would be poorer than they currently are even though they earn more.

To increase the standard of living , we need to reduce costs(cost of food, housing, et al) which would increase the purchasing power of the common man without increasing the wage bill and we need to be more productive. Anything outside this two is going in circles.
