How much will phone bills eat into my budget?. I have a gfgrin I call every now and then. All these special friends calling that glo and mtn offer has made us talk every often.
How can I continue that from the uk? What network is the cheapest for international calls. How much can I budget if I intend to call like 4 times in a week for some minutes.
Get a lebara or lyca sim for calling Nigeria. If you are working on a budget, dont get a contract line till you are settled. A 5 pound lebara top up should last you for a week.. but my advice, chat more(YM, WhatsApp, BBM, Skype).

afam4eva: Majority of people that travel with those airlines are NIgerians anyways.
Majority of them also live in Lagos and Abuja. I'm not against having an airport in Enugu but don't force airlines there. May be if we had Nigerian airways they would have done a test run to see how viable the Enugu - X route is
Travel › Re: Denial Of Licence To Airlines: Oduah Has Sectional Agenda - Rep by AZeD1(m): 3:30pm On Aug 30, 2012
FSU: The viability or otherwise of Enugu as an international airport has not been tested. Give the test initiated by the minister a chance and let's see how viable or otherwise it gets.

Nigeria is a country of 160 million people (although 50% of that population are impoverished and disease-infested northerners who cant fly, or fly only once in their lifetime for Hajj, most using government sponsorship) and deserve more than 5 international airports. There is no political reason why each region of Nigeria should not have an international airport. If there is, someone should state it for me.

From an economic point of view, the Enugu airport will be viable because I doubt that all other things being equal, any Igbo traveling from Igboland will prefer to patronize Lagos/Abuja airport than using the one in his backyard.

The bolded is where you are getting it wrong. While Igbos might prefer to fly out from Enugu, how many foriegners have Enugu as their destination? Or do you seriously expect airlines to land half full in Enugu because Igbos want to fly from there?.
Even with all the oil companies and foriegners in PH, how many airlines fly direct to PH? That should give you an idea of the viability of the Enugu airport.
Travel › Re: Denial Of Licence To Airlines: Oduah Has Sectional Agenda - Rep by AZeD1(m): 2:25pm On Aug 30, 2012
Katsumoto: First, I responded to your original question and gave an analogy to support my position.

Second, an international airport was provided in Enugu. That is government policy and it is fine. What isn't fine, is requesting that International airlines use the airport at all costs.

Have you ever heard of the marketing term - Cannibalize?

Simply means that providing an additional good or service will reduce the profits of the first good and service and not necessarily increase profits. Sometimes, you make a loss because you provide redundant services.

Some airlines can only afford to use one route. If you request them to use two routes, they make a loss because of additional logistics.

In Europe, budget airlines can't afford to use the major airports, so they approach local and regional governments who grant concessions so as to make using their airports more profitable. Sometimes, regional governments approach businessmen with concessions.

Has the Enugu state government provided any grants or concessions to assist the airlines? No

Has the ministry conducted any survey to support the implicit viability of Enugu? No

Airlines are not charities and the airline industry has the worst profit margins in the business world.
Nigerians think with their tribes not their brains. I know economics was compulsory when i did my ssce but its surprising that people still dont understand that once a demand for a product shows up, a supplier will naturally arise to fill the need.
Travel › Re: Denial Of Licence To Airlines: Oduah Has Sectional Agenda - Rep by AZeD1(m): 2:21pm On Aug 30, 2012
I repeat if Enugu was viable, the airlines will move to Enugu Government does not need to force them. The Government did not force them to Nigeria, they came because they saw Nigeria as a profitable route. Same thing will happen when Enugu becomes a profitable route..
Travel › Re: Denial Of Licence To Airlines: Oduah Has Sectional Agenda - Rep by AZeD1(m): 11:51am On Aug 30, 2012
Until we start letting the market decide, we will not develop as a nation. I believe if it was economically viable for the airlines to fly from Enugu nobody would tell them to go their.

A simple lay mans way to look at a viable route if airline x lifts Nigerians from Enugu to uk, would it be able to fill that same flight back to Enugu.

Dual Core: The following information are ambigous and you should remove them from your calculations.

1. The number of courses
2. The classes JS1-JS3
3. The nature of the papers written.

Just write a code to sit 42 people putting 4 particular people among them in different seat rows.

Here's my solution below, it isn't pure but you can't blame me... time and headache.

Politics › Re: Barth Nnaji Resigns (Or Sacked) From Power Ministry? by AZeD1(m): 12:00am On Aug 29, 2012
leyom234: When Niger Dams Authority with other power generating companies where merged in late 70s and renamed NEPA, it was constitutionally stated that the new organisation would only manage existing infrastructure. This is to tell you that NEPA/PHCN does not have the constitutional responsility of building power stations but to run the existing ones. The youngest operating power station is the one at Egbin and its of the highest capacity of 1280 megawatts but it will interest Nigerians that it was built and commisioned by OBJ in 1979.

Last year when IBB clocked 70, do Nigerians remember that himself and OBJ were involved in a media outrage where one of the responses that OBJ gave IBB was that IBB was in power for 8 years yet didnt bother to build any power stations? Is that not enough for Nigerians to understand that it is the responsibility of the government to initiate power projects? OH unna think say na PHCN staff go award those NIPP projects to those Indian companies?

Yes, some power projects were commisioned last year while some will soon be commisioned but it will also interest Nigerians to learn that it was OBJ's initiated projects during the 8 years he completed in 2007. When these projects are complete, nepa/phcn staff are then brought into it to run.

30 years ago, capacity was 4000 and now its still the same while population has grown drastically. SA has a population of 50 million, they generate 50,000 megawatts while we can only generate 4000 with population of around 180 million people. By the way, has government ever blamed phcn for not generating enough ? Most recently when the Minister felt power generation improved, wasnt he try to acribe praises to himself? This should tell Nigerians that it is the responsibility of the government to build power generating stations while nepa/phcn staff are only saddled with the resoponsibilityof running them when made available by their employer.

Come to think of it, on August 27, BusinessDay reported that the minister was blasted by the vice president on his selfish approach to the privatisation thing while Thisday reported the same issue today on their front page but the likes of punch, guidian, vanguard etc would not talk about it.The minister was using them as tools of propaganda to instigate Nigerians against phcn workers so they cant afford to betray their friendship towards the sacked minister. I dey go bed joorrrr.
Egbin was commissioned in 1984.
I think ughelli power station was extended in 1991(A power station id delta had additional units added in 1991).

Ogbonaikenna: and who told you easterners are not responsible for the market force in lagos and abuja? If only you could get a manifest from these airlines then you will know what i'm talking about.
I never said who was responsible or not responsible for the market in Lagos or Abuja.. When the airlines see Enugu as a viable option they will come there on their own. The minister does not need to force them simple.

Ogbonaikenna: Kobojunkie is just talking trash. Easterners have been going to lagos and abuja to take direct flight. So what is wrong if the easterners take off from the east?
Nothing is wrong but market forces should determine where airlines land in Nigeria not the minister.
Travel › Re: Aviation-Minister Blocks Foreign Airlines From Abuja by AZeD1(m): 4:26pm On Aug 28, 2012
If there is market in the east, the airlines would move there themselves. Nobody forced them to come to Lagos or Abuja.. Those asking why only Lagos or Abuja should know that Lagos == commercial capital and Abuja == federal capital. Besides most foriegn embassies are either in lagos or Abuja.

coogar: nigeria is not that technologically sound yet! would you pay with a visa card in the meat market to purchase N100,000 worth of beef meant for a get-together? policies are meant to take care of all and sundry. there are commercial buyers too who buy in bulk and only few shops in nigeria own pdqs to facilitate cash transactions - so there you go!

bus entry is one arm of it - what about people who need to buy 5 bags of rice @ oyingbo market? cash, card or cheque? if its cash then you expect me to count 50 naira notes for hours because i have such time to waste?
160 mil people in Nigeria, 70% live on less than $1 a day = 160N

5k bills wont reduce the cash but increase it. How many Nigerians buy meat worth 100k in a month or 5 bags of rice in year?
Stop talking about you but the majority Nigerians that will use the currency.
Business › Re: Conversation With Sanusi On "New" Currency Policy by AZeD1(m): 2:39pm On Aug 27, 2012
coogar: you mean countries like america where you can present a $100 bill to buy a can of coke priced at 50 cent? their economy still thrives, isn't it?

lord of mercy....
cashless-policy does not mean the complete removal of cash transactions in the economy---it means reducing our dependence on cash. so you think people don't spend cash in developed countries? come off it, mate!

the introduction of the 5000 note would reduce the volume of the worthless notes in circulation. it means less cash for you to carry around. less cash is not less value as cash is different from value!
Worthless note? Those are the most commonly used note. You need 20, 50 and 100 Naira notes on a daily basis but you dont need 5k notes at all. Besides i dont think cashless means removing cash completely but what ever you are going to use 5k for can be done electronically so why spend money to produce 5k bills that are not needed?
You claim its easier to carry a bundle of 5k notes and i say whatever you want to do with a bundle of 5k notes can be done by other means without physical cash.

You can't enter bus, buy things at mile 12 or normal everyday things like food, gala, omo e.t.c without cash and you need the small bills to pay for those thing. So tell me why we need 5k bills.
Business › Re: Conversation With Sanusi On "New" Currency Policy by AZeD1(m): 1:53pm On Aug 27, 2012
coogar: why should i take it easy when a supposed graduate believes a N5000 note has more volume than 250 pieces of N20 note!
A right thinking graduate that believes in going cashless should reason that lower bills makes it inconvinient to do large transactions in cash while higer bills makes cash transation easier.
So how do you plan to go cashless by making cash transactions easier?
Business › Re: Conversation With Sanusi On "New" Currency Policy by AZeD1(m): 1:50pm On Aug 27, 2012
we can have a proper debate after you must have learnt the difference between "value" and "cash". until then, there's no real reason to engage in a diatribe with someone who has no clue on what he's talking about!

Dude ask yourself why countries that are "cashless" have small bill e.g the U.S and the U.K... A transaction worth 5mil will be done easily with cash with the introduction of 5k bills while it would be harder with 10 naira bills. That in itself would for people to use bank transfers and other e-channels rather than cash.
