Cougar it rhymes with the cash-less policy as the 5000 note would effectively reduce the volume of currency in circulation! 1 X 5000 note = 25 X 200 notes. 200 notes of currency is more than one note. contrary to what you think, you are actually shooting yourself in the foot! How can it rhyme with the cashless policy when you are encouraging people to carry more cash? PS: cashless doesn't neccesarily mean the number of notes on you. 1 5k note is more cash than 10 50 naira notes. |
coogar: how does this policy defeat the cashless policy? the withdrawal limit is still pegged at N500k! with the 5000 note, i only need 100 notes to walk around with my maximum limit. But if it was with 50 naira or 20 naira notes, you would embrace internet banking, pos and the likes. |
All those people of change should please find something else to do.... Someguy just talked about the lady in ogwashi uku not knowing what a p.o.s is. I can tell you that if people start paying for hotel accomodation with 50 naira notes the owner would get a pos within a month while they will never see pos as far as there is 5000 naira note |
I think this is a very dumb move and will work against the cashless policy of the cbn. Nigerians don't like change unless they are forced to change e.g when atm's where first introduced most people still went into the banking hall to withdraw cash until banks started charging for over the counter withdrawals. Sanusi should be making it harder to carry cash by removing the large bills from circulation and watch Nigerians embrace paying with p.o.s and other form of payments. |
Billyonaire: I went out and had a bottle of Hennessy with friends and Isi ewu, and some suya, you know what, I paid using the POS and it was above the daily cash withdrawal limit. What if the network was bad? I would have brought out bunbles of wads, but with 5000 notes it would mean portable cash. I dont believe Nigerians should be poor. I believe we should be as rich as Kuwait nationals and hire foreigners to clean our toilets. I love Nigerians and some day I will be President but for now, the cashless policy, the reduction of excess notes in the system is a good thing to avoid wastage of huge funds used in minting low value currency notes, Listen, poverty is the precursor of creativity and creativity is the mother of invention. Lets not prefer comfort to stay in poverty, we should be pushed to the world to get rich. If the government has to put 5000 notes in the system to revamp the economy, let it be done. I am sure the people at the elms of affairs are better brains than the rest of us and they know what they what they are doing.Dude stop exhibiting your foolishness. How many developed nations with cashless economies have bills larger than a 100? |
I may be wrong, but isn't this like NYSC 'Remixed', 'Reloaded' or even 'Extended'?! The truth is that this program looks to me like another half arsed scheme by the government to put a band aid over a fracture.. Why not just create a loan scheme where graduates would have to undergo intense 3 - 6 - 1 year training (depending on the line of business they choose to participate in), then upon graduation, they receive a loan (interest free for 1 year) that will be repayable over a 2 - 3 year period.. Then the government puts in place incentives to allow those businesses grow.. I would prefer this to another NYSC look-alike program.
My brother you are not wrong. Why would a company employ people when it knows it can get graduates for free for one year? Who ever thought of this idea should be shot. |
OP you are a small minded person... Of all the issues in marriage its name that bothers you? Does a name guarantee hapiness of faithfulness? |
I've not been able to get us hosting but hopefully i should do it before the end of the month. |
Mandelaguy: This is one of the reason for privatisation and unbundling of power in his country, there will no longe be monopoly and unnecessary control by a single body...get it? You guys should protest, and write to your governor to intervene,or any political office holder you people elected, shey na ACN state?Privatisation doesn't change a thing cos if dangote can pay, a private company will sell to him. |
johnwisdom10: please any on going to coventry uni in uk here should let me know cos i will like toask some little questions.......i'm in coventry |
Dude do you know anything about Natural Language processing? |
obadiah777: 2mch and ileke idi say we should fight for them to love us in ukraineEven Nigerians kill Nigerians so drop all the stay in your country bs |
dedeike: I align with this position. The publication of these names or the prosecution of the cabal, though laudable, is not exactly the solution to the problem.Dude you have no idea of what you are talking about |
HNosegbe: Thanks A-Zed for sharing that link. I think you, Kobojunkie and co are doing a great job (even though I don't understand it lol)...The application is supposed to be able to explain the budget and other government spending to the common man. We also want to know duplication of projects in successive governments and be able to flag it. |
chucky234: The plan or idea should be a collective one,if well informed Nigerians can come together to device a means which to bring this administration and subsequent ones to order whenever issues like this arises. The social media has no doubt put politicians on their toes but not as much to effect the necessary change in the system,I believe there are lots of intelligent men and women who are well informed of economics and fund management in this nation. I have gone through your analysis and that of Pukka which I believe if merge with many of like-brains out there then we can make a great impact, but who will volunteer his time to pursue this goal? Nigerians are not willing to make sacrifices but expect miracles to happen over night.@chucky234, HNosegbe, Pukkah There is a thread in the programming section https://www.nairaland.com/930302/project-2012-summer-code-work. The aim of the project is to monitor the government's spending. Currently we are seeing things from a programmers perspective and we can do with people with knowledge of finance. |
uihebom: If u ask me I will say who cares, I was buying N3,000 light weekly cos of the heavy appliances in my house. In a month dats N12,000. One day I had problem with my changeover switch, which is next to my meter I called an electrician to fix it. The small boy told me dat oga na we install these meter everywhere and Nepa tamper with am so that ego dey run faster than normal. I thought he was lying, he said he can reset it for me for N5,000. And he will go to his house and get the yellow rubber seal phcn used in sealing the meter.mind you dis seals, if found cut you will be in trouble. Dis young chap touched my meter and replaced the seal back I found out that he was telling the truth that phcn tampered with all the meter so that it will be reading very fast. Now instead of buying N12,000 monthly light, I am now buying it for N4,000 for the past 3years now. phcn have come for there routine check but didn't notice. I use 4 air condition, ironing on a daily bases,1fridge and 1 freezer, microwave, electric kettle and pumping machine. All dis for N1,000 weekly instead of N3,000. You see why you can't trust the almighty PHCN. Cmon we are talking about NEPA, those guys are terrible.when I watch on TV PHCN demanding for their full payments, duo its ok but believe me some of their senior staffs most have diverted billions somewhere. Let's just be watching as things unfolds. As for people hanging wire on pole, SERIOUSLY are you out of your mind? Its only in Nigeria people don't want to pay for Internet they will find a way to get it for free, RENT is always an issue they hate paying rent, they want it to be free. FUEL, they hate buying it they will rather find a way to scope it for free. If Dana should start again and start selling tickets for N3,000 10,000,000 Nigerians will want to travel. As for PHCN staffs they should better ask NITEL staffs how far. Its over. The earlier you get used to it the better.Who determines the rate, the electrician or Government |
werepeLeri: I have seen a sick, bedridden American whose last words on earth were that he was proud to be American. I do not know any up-and-doing (perhaps the opposite of bedridden?) Nigerian who maintains that he is proud to be Nigerian!Dude you have comprehension problems. |
I intend to buy a domain/hosting service this week so if anyone knows a good web host that supports asp.net and sql server please let me know. I'm moving the excel data from @Kobo put into sql server. |
kunlewoye: Wherever did people get this thing about KLM being cheap? Or did I check the wrong site? BA, Emirates, Qatar Airways(what with the long wait *sighs* in Doha, Qatar before the flight to London) are about the best to London, although you have to transit in Paris/Madrid, Doha, Dubai, depending on which of the airlines you choose. Please does one need a transit visa to stop at these countries en route the UK?No KLM is cheap because you avoid the long wait. |
Donxavier: You guys that will soon be going don't forget to tell us what you're asked at the Port of Entry by the immigration officials.Keep all documents you submitted to the embassy in your hand lugguage. The questions you will be asked would be around that like, which school, which course. I was asked for my cas and documents stated on my cas. You might also be asked if you have a place to stay. If you dont just say a cousin/brother is picking you up at the airport. |
Is the current Nigeria better? forget your cheap rhetoric, you can not fool a young Niger Delta boy that has been deprived his source of feeding through pollution. Please use another form of lies the one you are using now is played out
Which lie? Dude the earlier you started thinking the better for you. If you think the so called biafran zionist movement have the interest of ibo people at heart then there is no hope for you. onyewec3: Rubbish...its beta they steal all the more accrue to them rather than allow a hausa-dominated govt to tap oil frm there region and steal them all.Another one who reasons backward. |
Nigerians are the only people who have brains but reason along tribal lines. For those who "biafrans" here, if the current leaders of "biafran states" are looting those states what makes you think all their greed will disappear when a new country is formed? |
kunlewoye: I hope I haven't confused y'all. Economical fares to London needed, not to Manchester oo... I'll be camping in London before heading to Manchester. Which is the most economical to London (one-way)and not all that bad?quatar airways is cheap but you have to go through Doha and the waiting time can be up to 10hrs. Turkish airways is also cheap but when i wanted to buy, i was told they don't carry students on 1-way. Try air maroc and klm. |
xterra2: I wanted to also do this but in a much better way using you guys data but I'll chill on that firstOk...Thanks for your effort. cripnip: sign me up! backend, tests and as little gui as possible. i've got vb.net, c++, sql, a little of html, css and asp.net under my belt. also i could do mgt stuff like svn and maybe git tooDude you are welcomed to join. |
kunlewoye: Errmmm... It's so cliched now but I still have to put it that way... I got my visa today!!!Congrats bro..... |
RipPer99: Nawa Oo..nobody Going to coventry yet...I'm already in coventry |
harryobas: Do u require help with project management? I think that since this project is a kind of collaborative development that is likely in involve quite a number of different programmers coming from diverse development cultures, contributing code to the project. I believe it is imperative that a proper project management structure be put in place in order to avoid development chaos and to ensure timely project delivery. We need all the help we can get as this is a part time project. |
harryobas: Since the project is going to be a web service, i believe it is logical to assume that the project is targeted at developers/programmers who will consume the service from their application. Also what functionality/features will the service provide to its client. The service should allow clients view the budget(graphs, chart e.t.c). The plan is to present the budget in such a way that every tomiwa, dike and haruna can understand. It should also be able to detect duplication between successive budgets(Capital expenditure). It should also show contracts awarded(cost, duration, company awarded e.t.c) Futuristic functions -Value for money e.g Fg spends 2 billion on roads. How long did it take to construct, how may km constructed e.t.c Extend all functionalities to each state. |
lordZOUGA: I don't like excel... Can't this stuff be available in pdf?You can get the pdf version at the budget office website. xterra2: Um okay, I'll do the front endaspx would be better cos the backend will be C# but if you want to do html/css no problem we,ll find a way to hook everything up. |
harryobas: @kobojunkie Do u have an idea of the entire project scope? I also believe at this point in the project lifecycle, a baselined application architecture showing the main functional elements(subsystems) of the application, the interfaces exposed by these functional elements and their connectors should be established to guide implementation. Also depending on the size/scope of the project, i think that the application should be delivered in increments through a series of time-boxed iterations. The whole project revolves around monitoring the budgets of the Fg(and hopefully each state too). Kobo extracted the data gotten from the budget office website to excel. For now, getting details of goverment spending is not straight forward so we hope to rely on news articles from major papers in Nigeria. The project is going to be a web service with the budget starting with this year. |
Kobojunkie: I am not the one in charge of the project. @A_zed came up with the idea and I am simply trying to help him get this working. Unfortunately, I don't know how far he has gone with it. I decided to help extract the data for the build and I will get back to it as soon as I can. But please direct your questions to @A_zed, and if you are volunteering to help in the creation of the baseline architecture, please feel free to go for it.good day every one I'd like to know those who are interested in working on this project so we can work together by assigning tasks to everyone. |
If i remember correctly, El rufai asked GEJ to resign. That also qualifies as an advice. |
