You are not getting where i'm coming from. What he said was more of a reaction from fellow yorubas bringing up things that have to do with yorubas in this thread. The things were rather negative so you can't really blame him for doing that. Search for the beginning point that caused his remark.
I quoted him based on what he quoted and said, not because of what other people posted.

See the way these uneducated tribalist just derailed this thread.

My own is that the problem with Nnewi and other Igbo cities is the fault of not only the federal government but also Igbos. Since Igbos have seen that the government on top don't want anything good to happen in the east All they have to do is build it themselves. The people that are supposed to lead the way like someone pointed out are the big business people like Cosmas, ABC Orjiakor etc. But selfishness will not let them develop their hoem towns. They just want to gather as many wealth as they can and every other thing can go to hell.
This is the kind of ignorant talk and belief system that's killing you people, your elected and appointed leaders from Zik to ekweme and so many federal ministers, senators, lawmakers, federal agency directors, ruling party leaders are all part of the same federal governmen, they were all elected and appointed to look out for you and your interests. You also have state and local leaders from governors to local council leaders.

They are all called leaders for a reason, to lead and direct federal government attention and resources to their people back home, that's their job. Stop blaming some invicible federal governmen for obvious dereliction of duty and lack of concern for their ow people.

excanny:
I initially thought it was started by an Igbo. I wanted to lambast him if he was an Igbo son.

Let's keep doing our thing quietly as we've doing in the last 40 years.

The war only killed infants. They are more easier to replace than adults. It takes 9 months to make a baby and 20 years to make an adult.

It also showed you that the Nigerian side didn't find it all that easy, giving rise to why they opted for bombing farmlands and using starvation as a war strategy.

But no need to shout. People are already falsely accusing us as arrogant to score cheap points, even though they cant prove their claims.

Igbos have their faults too though. They have the potentials of being far far ahead, but they usually miss their chances.
lol.

Be honest with yourself. What's there to prove? Do you not display your inferiority complex and insecurities with threads like this all over NL 24/7?

Yes, still, it is shameful that the Yorubas allowed themselves to be used as Pawns and dumped. They played an important part in the civil war e.g exploits of Adekunle and Obasanjo. One would expect that they should have had a good reason for doing that. Even if they had not dominated the main realm of power, they were favored. They had Lagos, and Lagos was the most developed at that time. Why didn't the development spread to Oyo, Ogun
Osun and other Yoruba states? Why did they stick to Lagos? It is really not an excuse. They should have been way ahead. It would have not only given them a bragging right, but it would have made them the reason for Nigerians to be proud of being Nigerians. Go to the same Lagos, the Igbos are dominating commercial activities.
lwkmd. Unfortunately for you and apart from Lagos state, Ogun state alone get more factories and industries than the whole of igbo land combine,

You people no get shame I swear, na insecurity and inferiority complex go kill you, the same malady wey foolishly make you go enter war wey you no fit win,

Btw, it's ok to keep sweeting your bele with the ignorant and meaningless dominating Lagos talk. Unfortunately for you, Lagos state ain't about just Ajegunle and Alaba.

Where is the wisdom and sense in boasting about you paying taxes and developing other people's land while your own dey crumble?

There is no doubt that the development of the Igbos was slowed down by the civil war. Irrespective of that, the Igbos still rose to the same level that the "Victors" are at the moment (Which is still not high). Is it not commonsensical that one would expect the Hausas and Yorubas to be way ahead of Igbos, especially in terms of development and basic infrastructures. It is not a thing to be happy about. Infact if the Hausas and Yorubas had built upon their victory to use the leadership that they dominated for many years to ensure development (in the Western and Northern Regions), Nigerians would atleast have had something to be proud of. Instead they sat on the Igbos and refused to develop.
Come to think of it, it is really shameful that the Yoruba and Hausa leaders could make nothing out of their domination of power for many years. It is very very shameful. What their victory and political domination brought was pain, poverty, death, under-development, acute rot in the system etc. Their own people are suffering very much.
The reason why I respect Obasanjo so much is that he is one of the most neutral leaders Nigeria ever had. He brought the Igbos into his leadership team, during his tenure e.g Soludo, Dora Akunyili, ezekwesili etc and they made a great impact. The difference was very clear.  For instance, One wonders how the CBN was performing before Soludo. Obasanjo threw ethnic bigotry into the bin, and brought in Soludo after sacking Sanusi. We all know about the revolution that happened. The fool, Atiku is taking credit of doing that now (When infact his small brain would have made him to appoint a nursery school teaching Mallam from Adamawa as CBN governor, if he was in Obasanjo's position)
Well no insult intended, the Hausa and Yoruba political leaders should be ashamed of themselves. My only regret is that they succeeded in turning modern Igbo leaders into their likes.
You people need to get over yourselves with your silly and nonsensical tribal high horse rationalizations. All that crap has nothing to do with regional characteristics, it's all about our collective lousy leadership which ibo people are part of.

And the east was way way behind the west years before the war. What do you have to say about that? You see Yoruba people beating chest all over the place?

I don't know about Hausa people, but iboland remains way way back in the west's rear view mirror before and after the war.

Y'all need to keep quiet and give it a rest,

The constant whining and pleas for attention are pretty annoying, but I guess understandable.

Signs Of An Insecure Person

Insecure people are self promoting and constantly talk about themselves. They need validation from other people for their actions and qualities

An insecure person becomes overly selfish. He tries to surround himself with possessions, accolades and attention.

An insecure person becomes overly accommodating and tries to gain other people's approval.

Insecure people tend to be very defensive and cannot handle criticism. They are not comfortable with their own-self.

Insecure people can't enjoy silence and they try to fill it with unnecessary chatter

“This idea of announcing that Bola Tinubu is under investigation is political blackmail as far as I am concerned. And I hope that Mrs. Waziri will not step on a wrong direction. I’m not going to be intimidated. No matter what happens, I will not be intimidated. If you have nothing against me, shut up and keep quiet.“I’m not interested in what they are saying, but you cannot perpetually hang the hammer of investigation over my head. It’s not fair. It all started from the Ribadu era, from 2002 when they attempted to stop me from re-contesting for a second term. They didn’t succeed. Then, in the following year, they started talking of Bola Tinubu being under investigation. Each time I aggressively pursue a goal that is anti-establishment position, you find an axe of investigation by EFCC or the authority hanging over my head. That continued from 2002 up to 2007.

“They used immunity excuse and made all sorts of allegations which I challenged. What is very very annoying is that if they have evidence to prosecute me, this is an era of rule of law, just go to court, prosecute me. Don’t hang the hammer of investigation perpetually on my head. If you have concrete facts, let’s go to court or you shut up. Let me move on with my life.

“I have families. I have friends. I have business associates and my right to personal liberty is guaranteed under the constitution. As a result of this blackmail method of one being investigated, my family, my children, a lot of people have been calling me since yesterday. I have never done anything to stop them from investigating me. I have never disturbed their investigation. We ‘ve seen several cases of even political murders, where they said there was no need for further investigation, so many of those cases. Now, how long will you take and when will I be able to have my sanity back? Two years after I left office, if you have not come up with a concrete evidence that will let you prosecute me, please, keep quiet and let me move on with my life” he said.

If we all take time to read this thread from the beginning we would all msee why we can not progress as a nation.

Why should the arrest of a suspect be hinged on wheter there is an election or not, is anyone talking about Tinubu being innocent or not.

Tinubu is expected to be arrested for operating a foreign account while in office, the question I thought we would be asking is did Tinubu operate any foreign account while in office or not? Can Tinubu confidently tell us that he did not operate any foreign account in disregard to the constitution he swore to? It really doesnt matter if he wasnt the only one or if they want to pick him up at election time and there is no rule that says we must catch the biggest thief before catching smaller thieves.
Lai Mohammed should have faced the issue he raised can he kindly tell us that Tinubu did not operate any foreign account while in office and dare those investigating him to come up with proof.

This is what the man said , read and ask yourself why the efcc is yet to call is bluff and come up with the smallest evidience to put
Corruption is in terrible control of this nation such that we really need to declare a state of emergency on it, where once you are accused you should be considered guilty until proven innocent, or we legalise some aspect of corruption, like operating a foreign account can be allowed if you can prove that you have not transferred state funds to your private accounts.
The burden is not on Tinubu to investigate and incriminate himself, the burden is on the efcc to investigate and find any evidience to take to the court of law and put Tinubu in jail. The efcc collects billions tax payers Naira to do just that, we don't pay suspects to investigate or incriminate thelmselves.

This is what the man said and dared efcc to do, read and ask yourself why with all the forensic tools available to the efcc why they are yet to call his bluff,

Obviously they have nothing against him,

I have nothing to hide. If there is any document as such anywhere in the world, use it against me. I have nothing to hide. It has become a tradition of the Yar’Adua administration to witchhunt me because of my stand on some political issues. Now, they are using the EFCC against me.

And you sound like an backside wipe
Tell me,do you have to be able to prove allegations before you make arrests,is it the duty of the police or the EFCC to do that or the courts, since you're the only ignoramus that's decided to adopt the Ostrich approach to the Tinubu issue(as you've conveniently decided to pretend you never heard he operated foreign accounts, how about the tax evasion racket he's been doing with Oando?( ,fine and good, you're entitled to your opinion, only just allow the rest of us to ours without spewing stinking bunkum from your equally stinking mouth
So, in a sane and rational society, you don't need any proof of wrong doing, you just grab people and take them to court? Is this the kind of banana republic Nigeria you clowns are yelling for?

And you keep running mouth about efcc, is it not basic knowledge that the same etch investigated and came up nothing to charge him with? Dind't the same Tinubu dared the efcc to come with any proof of wrong doing against him?

Talking about responsibility, is the burden not on the efcc to use what ever federal means to dig up something court worthy against him? A lot of you reason like elementary school kids, no matter how much you dislike any man, they are innocent till proven guilty in a court of law. Ufourtumatly and sadly, we still have backward and close minded cave clowns calling thelmseves leaders of tomorrow,  you fools are even worse than the useless people we have now.

And you dare call other people ignoramus? What a dumb a?s!s.

Tinubu is a rogue that should have been arrested earlier
Arrested for what? For what crime? For what you can prove or can't prove?

Many of you are worse than market women. You not only sound silly, you sound hopelessly clueless and irrational.

Is Fashola the commissioner for public works or the city maintenance man?

Instead of wasting time and fooling yourself on NL, do your civic duty and send your complaints to the people in charge of what you're talking about.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Suspends Lekki Expressway Toll Collection by babapupa(op): 11:17pm On Jan 05, 2011
Stealthy:
Lagos is a city-state - kinda similar to Singapore which is effectively a city, even though it's country. Next thing, you'll be telling me the Lekki "expressway" is an intercity road within the state of Lagos, abi? Anyways, for comparison, Lagos can be compared to the LA county, which consists of different cities. The point is that there are no tolls when driving from LA to Pasadena/Glendale/Pomona, etc.

You referenced USA so much, implying that tolls are commonplace in USA. My point is that you are gave misleading info and that tolls are indeed rare in USA, especially within cities. Is this true or false?

Read your post again. I made my point, yet you start to throw words at me. Which of us sounds petty? I don't engage in online arguments/insults as you can tell from my previous posts, so cool it abeg.
As for saying people don't have real life experience, the truth is you simply don't know. Don't underestimate others simply because you don't agree with their position on an issue. I won't tell tell you what I do or the annual budget I control, cos I'm not the boasting type. Besides, you prob wont believe anyway.

Pls let's respect each other. I've not thrown words at you, don't throw 'em at me.
Please, keep that ridiculous assertion to yourself, Lagos state is not only a state, it's a state by statutory constitution. What's next? Lagos state is a village?

About federal allocations and state budget, it doesn't matter what absurd or unsubstantiated innuendo you roll with, the state's budget is 2 billion dollars and it only collects 168 billion Naira/$1.1 billion in taxes/Year and the rest is what ever borrowings and federal allocation they pull together.

You didn't see any toll road in LA because the 10 and 110 freeways that you took to Pasadena was built decades ago when the state was not running deficits  and like I explained before, LA is a fully developed city. Unfortunately for the city of LA and many other cities in America, they are all broke just like Lagos State and the only option in terms of raising money to fend off deficits and upgrade infrastructure is to toll or sell public properties like roads and bridges and utilities, these are today's realities.

LA is practically broke @ 480 million dollars budget deficits. The state is laying off state workers and and cutting off social services, unemployment is 16% which means dwindling tax base. I see the state selling off public properties and tolling like other cash strapped cities very soon. LA can not build another freeway or bridged without tolling or packing up shop.

You really can't tell me ish about LA/California because I'm a Californian and an Angeleno.

What you failed to comprehend about my comments regarding tolling in America is the fact that states and cities sell and toll because of budget shortfalls and dwindling resources and the state of Lagos falls under this category. Lagos state is a poor state.

It's was more than fair to comment about your life experience because of your thoughtless and unreasonable utterances. Our life experience shapes our views, comments and understanding. It's absolutely insane and ignorant to site the state of Lagos as a rich or well to do state without analyzing the states population, societal and communal needs, decayed and non existing infrastructure, UN  quality of life standards from food and nutrition to accommodation, transportation and public safety. The state is practically starting from scratch with chump change.

Btw, I referenced USA because one of you said something about democracy,, like saying Lagos state is undemocratic and I shot back by saying even the USA aka fountain of democracy toll roads. Please make your point and quit grasping at straws.
