Crime / Things To Know About The 9/11 Attacks By Al-qaeda by badthinds: 5:22pm On Sep 11, 2018
This day (9/11) 2001.

The Plan and Top planners

1. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks and he was arrested on March 1, 2003 and is still being detained (till date) at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba (a badass camp where the prisoners wear masks grin )

The key operational planner of the September 11 attacks was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (often referred to simply as “KSM” in the later 9/11 Commission Report and in the media)

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed became active in the Muslim Brotherhood, which he joined at age 16, and then he went to the United States to attend college, receiving a degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1986. Afterward he traveled to Pakistan and then Afghanistan to wage jihad against the Soviet Union, which had launched an invasion against Afghanistan in 1979.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed planned to blow up some dozen American planes in Asia during the mid-1990s, a plot (known as “Bojinka”) that failed, “but the dream of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed never faded.

In 1996 Khalid Sheikh Mohammed finally met bin Laden (who had always maintained his views of the United States being weak - contrary to what many people think) in Tora Bora, Afghanistan.

It was then that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed “presented a proposal for an operation that would involve training pilots who would crash planes into buildings in the United States.” Khalid Sheikh Mohammed dreamed up the tactical innovation of using hijacked planes to attack the United States, al-Qaeda provided the personnel, money, and logistical support to execute the operation, and bin Laden wove the attacks on New York and Washington into a larger strategic framework of attacking the “far enemy”—the United States—in order to bring about regime change across the Middle East.

2. Mohammed Atta was the lead hijacker of the 9/11 attacks.

Throughout Atta's stay in the United States, he kept Binalshibh updated on the plot's progress via e-mail. Atta wrote the messages as if he were writing to his girlfriend “Jenny,” using innocuous code to inform Binalshibh that they were almost complete in their training and readiness for the attacks. He did this to obviously cloak his activities.

Atta wrote in one message, “The first semester commences in three weeks… Nineteen certificates for private education and four exams.” The referenced 19 “certificates” were code that identified the 19 al-Qaeda hijackers, while the four “exams” identified the targets of the attacks.

In the early morning of August 29, 2001, Atta called Binalshibh and said he had a riddle that he was trying to solve: “Two sticks, a dash and a cake with a stick down—what is it?” After considering the question, Binalshibh realized that Atta was telling him that the attacks would occur in two weeks—the two sticks being the number 11 and the cake with a stick down a 9. Putting it together, it meant that the attacks would occur on 11-9, or 11 September (in most countries the day precedes the month in numeric dates, but in the United States the month precedes the day; hence, it was 9-11 in the United States). On September 5 Binalshibh left Germany for Pakistan. Once there he sent a messenger to Afghanistan to inform bin Laden about both the day of the attack and its scope.

Execution of the Plan

On September 11, 2001, groups of attackers boarded four domestic aircraft at three East Coast airports, and soon after takeoff they disabled the crews. The hijackers then took control of the aircraft, all large and bound for the West Coast with full loads of fuel. At 8:46 AM the first plane, American Airlines flight 11, which had originated from Boston, was piloted into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. As the first one land, people been still dey think say na accident, The second plane, United Airlines flight 175, also from Boston, struck the south tower 17 minutes later. At this point there was no doubt that the United States was under attack.

3. Passengers tried to overpower the terrorists/hijackers

The third plane, American Airlines flight 77, taking off from Dulles Airport near Washington, D.C., struck the southwest side of the Pentagon (just outside the city) at 9:37 AM, touching off a fire in that section of the structure. Minutes later the Federal Aviation Authority ordered a nationwide ground stop, and within the next hour (at 10:03 AM) the fourth aircraft, United Airlines flight 93 from Newark, New Jersey, crashed near Shanksville in the Pennsylvania countryside after its passengers—informed of events via cellular phone— attempted to overpower their assailants.

Ðeaths/Casualties

Rescue operations began almost immediately as the country and the world sought to come to grips with the enormity of the losses. Nearly 3,000 people had perished: some 2,750 people in New York, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 in Pennsylvania; all 19 terrorists also died. Included in the total in New York City were more than 400 police officers and firefighters, who had lost their lives after rushing to the scene and into the towers.

4. Finally, the 911 emergency number did NOT originate from the attacks

As the op let me drop my request..
Skill required- I will need database and software developers to show interest.

Nature of the work- it will be a platform designed to bring the police and dss in Nigeria and other African countries up to date with their counterparts in the developed world if they can key into it. So it is very much sellable.
It will give them speedy access to information and other key infos I will share on the group. Indicate your interest here and join the chat https:/// taking off the link for now due people taking advantage of the group

The platform will run a core banking system like program with a server in the force headquarters and I have work out how the platform should look and function like come in let's discuss

And also you are only to work on your spare time

Na Naija dey dull itself, unlike countries that understand the fact that they can have access to big information from telecommunication industries, we tend to undermine what we can do with them.

For example, Surveillance tools works perfectly in such country... If you can and have facilities for instance to really track phone calls, fighting crime will be much easier... Come to Naija, even common walkie talkie is an issue... I'm almost sure operating a device as simple as a walkie talkie will give some of this our yeye officers headache.

Well,

I couldn't even visit the link you posted due to nairaland's hostility...this is why I suggested an independent closed platform invented/created by us for flexibility.

I'm interested in helping this your idea tho.

This is because nairaland is not tech-friendly... Have you ever seen a source code on nairaland? LOL. That's because it is just a simple forum.
Go the the section titled "Programming" - if you're a programmer, you'll definitely be disappointed! And migrate to Romance grin

My Suggestion

I almost gave up on hardware stuff with my formulas and diagrams lying everywhere on my desk.

I swore to build a big multipurpose lab and music studio grin before building my personal house in the same compound so my kids (if I reconsider having them) would not face what I've faced. I hate limits!

This has made me stick to everything that can have labs in computers (currently) eg Compilers/interpreters grin, FL Studio, Caustic etc...

I am a computer programmer and web developer - and if everyone is to think based on the fields they're most conversant with, I'll say we create a closed/restricted platform maybe called "NSG" where accessibility will be 100% limited to like-minded us.

"NSG" would be accessed from the Web, Android/IOS apps, Windows Application, The Tor Network (dark web) etc...
Many advanced features will be built into "NSG" to make life easier for us, eg innovation type-based sections for Electricity alternatives/improvement, Electronic devices, Mechanical devices which may be further divided into Locomotives(land, air, water/underwater) and non-locomotives...

Edit:
The idea of "NSG" is to tackle concerns/issues raised by people like hunter21, bqlekan etc... Concerning patent/theft issues as we can closely work with patent agencies (I had a lengthy chat with my elder brother who is actually a lawyer and specializes is stuff like this)
. With a closed system, for example, if someone steals your idea, trust me, people like me will investigate such idea and the thief and would bring such a person to justice.
Even though such things hardly work in Nigeria, we'll try our best as a community.

Nairaland may continually be used even after completion of the suggested "NSG" due to certain reasons tho more technical discussions, innovations/ideas will be on the "NSG" once complete.

Back to the mata. Lets not wait for the Government, they're busy focussing on parties - political parties grin

Hmmm... Ok lemme pause.

Nice work OP.

Sincerely, badthinds

Crime / How To Deal With Envy by badthinds: 10:05am On Jul 24, 2018
Hi there, don't expect to see a list in this article. You would not find any.

I'll start with a short russian tale: A farmer finds a magic lamp, he picks it up and rubs it. Immediately, a genie appears and promises to grant whatever he (the farmer) wishes. The farmer thinks over the offer for a while and finally made a request saying: "My neighbor has a cow and I have none. I hope that his cow drops dead".

I can feel you shaking your head at the farmers stupidity as you read. I can feel you almost laughing at how dumb this farmer is!.

"Envy is the most stupid of vices, for there is no single advantage to be gained from it!" (I borrowed this quote from Rolf Dobelli, who borrowed it from Balzac).

But Bros, calm down. Before we read the farmer's crazometer, let us delve into his shoes as the purpose of envy can only be justified by the one who feels it.

The story behind the scene is: The farmer has always dreamed of owning a cow, he didn't own one and it made him sad. To worsen the case, his neighbor has one.
The genie granted his wish and his neighbor's cow dropped dead on the farm. The farmer hears the news the next day and dances galala for 30 minutes in his living room. He is exhausted and falls on the ground in a sitting posture saying "That's the stuff... We're now equal".
After 2 days, the farmer remains sad because he still has no cow! If he had requested a cow from the genie, he and his neighbor would have also been equal and an ad-on is a lasting joy that he now owns a cow.

From my extension of the story, one can now see how envy impaired the farmer's thinking at the detriment of his own progress.

In Nigeria, there's a popular phrase used to describe those who envy a lot: "Enemy of Progress". In reality (not stories), envy alone has nothing to do with the status of your neighbor's progress. So the unknown truth is that "Enemy of Progress" only affect your own progress. Envy makes our judgement/thinking ill - which will only affect us.

You and I fight envy almost everyday, it is deeply engraved in our DNA (so don't feel bad about yourself when you find yourself engaged in envy). When a real friend of yours get an increment, you may be really happy for her/him.

Exercise: Next time a friend gets lucky, pay attention to how many times, deep in your mind, you fight envy!
You know you are happy, so you keep shooting otherwise-thoughts on sight - but that doesn't mean they don't come flying.

(Author: twitter.com/patabah)
When a friend or sibling for instance, gets a gift and we don't, our default thought is that those around us actually thinks we're envious - this feeling could make us have the face of "when-they-sing-happy-birthday-for-you-and-you're-just-standing-in-the-middle-smiling" at times. You try to fight it.

Only envy will make you buy "I pass my neighbor" generator just because your neighbor has one - you may even forget to realize how it may affect you financially!

Master your stuff and struggle to be at the top of your own niche. That's all that matters.

In sum: We only envy those we dream to become. Always think of how pathetic this fact sounds whenever you try to envy someone.

Feel free to narrate your experiences and drop your suggestions.

Sincerely, badthinds.

Religion / Does God Feels Remorse For His Actions? by badthinds: 11:31am On Jul 22, 2018
Greetings to all Nairalanders.

Earlier, I wrote a controversial article on the imperfection of our God here: www.nairaland.com/4631695/part-bible-where-man-smarter#69599896. I received alot of comments - many critical... users such as enilove and unicmarket persisted that God was perfect and that I had shallow spiritual knowledge, also, unicmarket hovered around how God's bad decision will turn out to be good (though this is a clear thinking bias/illness that makes us believe bad things happen to us to make way for something good - in reality, if the probability of something good or bad to happen is 50,50 then we'll realize that if something good happens after something bad, it was just by chance... But our brains have refused to note bad result after bad results, we're just waiting for the next good thing to promote our confirmation bias)

Well, This article is focused on a case where God felt remorse for a poor decision.
Author: Patrick, Abah twitter.com/patabah
Firstly, when do you say to your spouse "I promise, this will never again happen"?
Such statements evidently emanates for recently poor decisions.

Our case study is Genesis 9:11

Genesis 9:11
”I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

God went further to introduce the rainbow and how it should remind us and him of his promise.

If God didn't feel any remorse, he/she would have said: "Oboy, make una stay tight oo.. if una furkup again...i go still destroy earth" grin grin

A chief evidence of imperfection (as in poor choices) is remorse. Hence, this is a supporting evidence of the imperfection of God.

The following section is an extract from the previous article:

MORAL LESSONS
Some times, you make certain choices that you later regret or say things before thinking/reconsidering. The effect remorse has on individuals varies. Take is easy on yourself. If you're a religious person, it may be comforting to know, now (even though this may have the 'Black Swan' effect on your believes) that even a supernatural being as all-knowing as God can/is imperfect.

In sum: carry on jeje with life life. Every day we make choices, some turn out to be bad mistakes, try to correct the correctable mistakes and try to avoid the permanent mistakes next time (as God has wisely done).

Religion / Part Of The Bible Where Man Was Smarter Than God by badthinds: 8:15am On Jul 22, 2018
First of all, I want to wish every one a happy sunday.

Now, straight to the matter.

When ever I tell those around me the bible has pages that proved humans to be smarter than God or parts of the bible that totally ridiculed God's intelligence, they never believe even with backup from the verses.

Let me walk us through one book from my research. Call this "The Golden Calf".
For the purpose of this article, any bible version will do.

THE GOLDEN CALF

(Author: Patrick, Abah. Twitter.com/patabah)

Remember when God saved the Israelites from the Egyptians?

Everything went smoothly until they made a Calf god.

God saw this and was angered:
[ Exodus 32:7-8
[big]7[/big] And the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves.
[big]8[/big] They have turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them. They have made for themselves a golden calf and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it and said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!’"]

Jehovah went on to say to moses:
[ Exodus 32:10
[big]10[/big] Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them, in order that I may make a great nation of you.” ]

Now the intellectual challenge:
Moses, at this point began to think of the implications of what God had want to do.

Moses suggested:
[ Exodus 32:11
[big]11[/big] But Moses implored the LORD his God and said, “O LORD, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
[big]12[/big] Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people.

Now, God apparently forgot his promise but thankfully, Moses reminded him:
[ Exodus 32:13
[big]13[/big] Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ” ]

Hmm, what happened next?

The New World Translation of the Bible has it in
[ Exodus 32:14 as
[big]14[/big] So Jehovah began to reconsider the calamity that he had spoken of bringing on his people. ]
______________________________________________________

I hope my article has given clear evidence from the Bible to support my claims of the Bible suggesting the IMPERFECTION of God.

MORAL LESSONS

Education / Re: Examination Malpractice In Nigeria by badthinds: 8:01am On Jul 21, 2018
... "there are millions of
students sitting for different
examinations, where supposedly only
the best are chosen and the rest GET NOTHING."

Firstly, I'll like to remind us that humans, just like every other species compete to survive. It would be an ill reasoning to think that this competition is limited to only 'moral' / good or 'healthy' competition.

I grew up leaning how vices are unhealthy. Fact.

But in Nigeria and every other part of the world, people with such tendencies (eg 'corruption') are more successful on the average.

I have no issues with whatever a human does to survive (as its our primary goal) inasmuch as doing the 'immoral' things is most likely to get you caught up in a hot pot with the laws of the society.

I wonder why we preach against malpractice if those who practice such 'vices', we believe, would be the once to pay for it.

Back to the original topic of Malpractice in Nigeria.

I've been to many schools in rural areas and the fact no one wants to address is the standard of the schools (using most schools in rural areas as a case study) and the competence of most of their teachers. The fact is that over 80% of the students in such areas are not just capable of sitting for (eg WAEC) independently to pass with the least pass mark.

Now, we claim to have their interest at heart...thats why we even get students to understand the future implications of such practices.
But if we are not hypocrites, lets consider the following:
1. Majority of these students hustle the exuberant fees (WAEC, NECO) themselves
2. They lack the ability to sit independently and pass.

In this case, would you sincerely advise them to sit on their own and fail? Hustle another money to re-register to continue to face the same fate like an endless loop?
The financial implications are just unbearable!.

Hey, don't get me wrong here. I'm clearly not an ambassador for Exam Malpractice, I've only accessed schools in rural areas (which are greater in number). I just reason out of conventional biased reasoning.

So in conclusion: if someone can cheat his or her way through all the institutions (which is virtually impossible) and have a good career, get employed and not get fired for incompetence...then fine! That someone has survived through his/her method.

I believe no survival instinct is superior to another... That's simply ill thinking. One thing is certain, nature would definitely filter those who don't have what it takes!.

Programming / Re: Must Read " Risks/dangers Of Man-made Brainpower (artificial Intelligence (ai)) by badthinds: 1:36am On Jul 21, 2018
Story story,

I once read an article, the author evaluated the expectations of the tech oriented people (half a century ago) of how the future (half a century forward - which is now) would be. People dreamt of working in underwater cities, living in 'capsules', consuming food as pills, finding a solution to death among others...

The author abruptly stopped to first, remind us we are in the future (half a century forward from their time) and how the pants/trousers you're using was invented about 5000 years ago and still basically the original idea!.

Why did I bring this story up?

I've worked/I work with and understand AI systems to a certain degree and I can assure you that most of what we (humans) think of AI is unrealistic/not feasible in the nearest future and are mostly influenced by man made propaganda.

Lets talk about one of the most recent AI achievements (which is closest to 'stealing' jobs) from google which is: AI can now organise appointments/schedule your work.
You may now say "Oh no, AI has stolen the job from personal assistants!" but ask yourself, how efficient is it? How many people are willing to use that kind of service? Are you one of them?
Whatever your answers are, it would be key to note that "scheduling appointments" is just a tiny portion of the overall job of who ever does it, say PA.

********

Abandon a human in a forest and return after a long time, you're most likely to find him alive and fresh.

For AI to accomplish 75% of what people fear, they must have evolved into a notable species. When they (computers) wouldn't need human help for 90% of what must keep them alive/recognizable as a specie.
Not just, in most cases, sitting on a desk and 'thinking'.

In the post, subtle but dangerous 'takeover' measure that could be employed by AI were highlighted. But those are things we've signed up for. If you read the post you see something like "ARTIFICIAL CONSCIOUSNESS", such phrase makes it clear that we are knowingly/unknowingly OK with AI evolving into an independent specie.
Dan Brown in his 2017 novel, Origin, (fictionally) explained how it is imminent for a specie to dominate humans someday, how we (evidently) dominated other species and by implication made many go extinct, how the biological clock is still ticking AND how whatever WILL dominate us must not necessarily be a biological specie.

In sum: Many of our inventions go wrong, many don't. AI is our invention.

Other tools/inventions includes your phone, kekenapep, cars, shoes, radio, cloths, nuclear weapons, tv, simcards, pen and paper, bed/matrass, PC.

We can only hope for the best and expect/prepare for the worse.

As for Simonrom,
if (you have not heard of Mitsuku (an AI application)){
You can have a chat with her on www.mitsuku.co.uk now and please give us feedback of your experience and conclusion of AI boring things.

Of course, it shall "almost definitely NOT" be used for war.

The general public will be pleased if the AI system is used in a Missile Defence System...that system wouldn't necessarily launch an attack on wherever the ballistic missile came from - another can do that!.

When the military buys the right to create an aircraft, they don't plan to transport passengers... They'll definitely attach guns and rockets to it.

The military (not just the US) only do one thing to/with technology. Yes...

My advise to the rest of the world is to improve their military...the world, right from recorded history has been so good at/in war. We can only get better.

Lastly, the military doesn't give a dang about democratic "rules". They only keep quiet when they're not in surface power.

One would think clearly if realized that:
1. Google is NOT the military
2. The military is NOT interested in providing email services. (LOL)

I guess you're a beginner programmer...so here's some advise from me.

Lemme start by saying: a) No one know how to hack a car's engine better than an a mechanic or engineer who really knows engines. b) No one knows how to hack a computer better than ...

1. If there's something you need to "hack" urgently, you can easily pay someone do the job (you'll spend less).

A topic like "Learn to be a black hat hacker" is as shortsighted as: "Learn to be a good medical doctor from scratch."

When I ventured into programming, I remember searching google with keywords like "How to hack". LOL

2. You could pay all the money in the world but you'll only be taught mediocre exploit methods that no sane firewall/administrator would still allow.

Being a real hacker is being able to invent ways to break into a system other the the obvious "will never work, only hypothetical/theoretical" methods.

As you continue to know your computer better (ie being a better programmer), things like breaking into it will just be ad-ons.

Pick a language (eg Python) and master it. You can start by getting the ebook: Black Hat Python by Justin Seitz.

Keep learning bro... You no fit rush am. The art of hacking go come later...you no go even realize.

Remember the mechanic example above.

Goodluck.

Otisjay10:

pls answer these questions.
1. How do i activate the virtual environment in python
2. How do i define the environment variable DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE
i use windows. Thanks alot.

This is the first time I've come back to Nairaland since January... Pardon me. I guess you've solved the issue by now... But may be this could help someone else...

Configuring django could somehow be a headache so I invented a nice solution which is to simply run a file first

1. First create this file (projectconf.py) keep it any where

import os
os.environ["DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE"] = 'lawyersforum.settings' # os.putenv("DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE", "project.settings"wink would also work, os.unsetenv(key) to delete
os.environ["PYTHONPATH"] = #project path separated with ":"
os.system('cd path_to_project/project')
os.system("django-admin startproject project"wink
os.system("export DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=lawyersforum.settings"wink
os.system("django-admin runserver 127.0.0.1:8004"wink
while True:
os.system(raw_input("$ "wink)

This will definitely solve the issues...

2. Run this file

Let me know of any other issues

Run this file and you're good to go
