If she's having sex with him and now says she'll not cook for him cos she's not his wife yet, i find that very hypocritical.
Very hypocritical, I cannot believe some people are arguing it...Are they saying cooking is worth more than sharing their most private being with someone who is not their husband? Wow, so this's how sex before marriage has been trivialized lipsrsealed

neither is cooking for ur guy a duty, borrowing ur words '- it a thing of mutual understanding. no body is imposing that on the lady, it's her either to cook or not to cook.

but truth is there is no serious minded guy who intends taking a lady to the isle and would not check her culinary skills even if its for once.
Culinary skills do not work for all serious-minded guys. Except what you mean cooking great for visitors whenever they come around.

Lol, that's how low we've sunk hun.. Anything to please the crowd at the expence of the truth. The people with such mindset usually end up cussing out men for dumping them after they've given their "all". Kindly note that "all" in this context usually means sacrifice. This sacrifice largely involves sex and manual labour.

Well, like I said, I cant allow a potential wife cook for me too often. Every man wants a good cook, no doubt. That's why I would insist she cooks every once in a while. I don't need to eat her food daily to be sure she's a chef. If she cooks for me on the regular and I get used to it, it starts to loose its value overtime. But if every once in a while, she gives me a treat, I would surely look forward to claiming that lass for myself.

But then again... I dont expect fickle minded kids to understand the dynamics of courtship.
Let me ask you a question based on this your argument and hope you come up with something.

When you eventually marry her and she cooks for you for 10 years, won't you get used to it?Thus, eventually, her food will lose its value to you, no?

Playing hard to get doesn't make you worthy but annoying. Believe me on this. Men like it moderate or better still, understanding but boys like it difficult as they tend to spend all their time wooing a lady instead of becoming productive. Disadvantage is that you may lose the 'prime target' all because the statement "give me more time" seems appropriate to you but at your prime time is your greatest enemy.

Accepting a man on your first date doesn't make you look cheap but sleeping with him on your first day does.
Well said. This was what I tried to let her know.

It's easy for you to say...an average nigerian girl wants to marry a well to do man and have a wonderful family but forgetting the fact that men hate liability...all i'm saying is, as a girl who is already clocking 25, dnt let your husband to be meet you at the state of joblessness...have something lucrative at hand and maybe plus your hnd/bsc.
Bros, that is 'sayable' in theory..But in practice e no easy..Many willing people cannot get something despite their out-of-this-world keenness or eagerness. It's too demanding to require people to have something lucrative at hand. I think what you meant was the great effort to have something lucrative at hand must be visible. There is always a reward for efforts and hard work..Some will argue this.. But it's the fact.

Nice points. But I think they should always possess these characteristics not only when they are at the so called prime time. Starting up early will have a long way to favor them than waiting for the prime time to look desperate.

Beauty can attract a man at first sight, but it takes character to keep him.
Lol, but prime is not the period of desperation. Desperation sets in when prime is past..Though there still exists people who are never desperate even after their so-called prime.

Thanks Thanks Thanks, I tried the planking for 2 minutes. And trust me, when you said its tough, I never believed until I turned on Youtube to follow the routine, I couldnt handle up to 3 minutes at the first go. If this is what I need daily morning to get rid of the last 4kg of weight, I'm put it on my routine. Thanks again
You're welcome bro.

Wow, you're impressive. You did 2 minutes on your first try, cool. Many plankers didn't manage that in their first try. Though it can be hard, if you continue at this rate, you will soon reach advanced level (5 minutes) and start nearing expert and master.

Don't forget to hold your stomach tucked in while doing the good form plank. If you repeat this for 3 months, you will push in the protruding belly and then your midsection will start getting strong. It works.

When you start doing at least 4 minutes at a go, which should take the next 2 months at least if you maintain a proper form, then come back to me again. We can start a skype planking routine and have other nairalanders join.

Happy planking!!

keep quite if you don't have something tangible to say. Who told you its always a smooth ride out there. Its only the exceptional ones you hear of most guys from naija struggle big time in these foreign schools.
Guy, I don't know of most, but many indeed struggle. You have said what I was avoiding to say.

Many of the exceptional or very good ones and some of the average but determined ones from Nigeria though will eventually do well irrespective of the initial setback. But those who think it's a piece of cake, mhen e no go easy.

What our universities in Nigeria teach us is rigour. We're rigorous students and this trait comes in handy when things get tough.

He is very brilliant. I belt you first class in imperial is way above first class in any African university.
Guy, na wah oo. It's hard to say something like this because it can't be the fact.

Yes, imperial is a top school for engineering and we all respect our above brother's achievement, but it is unbelievable to conclude that a first from imperial even Harvard is way above a first from any African university. We have seen instances where in a class of students or student researchers, the most promising researcher or student is African - Ghana, Nigeria, etc. Many of us have also seen instances where Africans are not tops in their foreign classes...

What is the quality of Naija made 1st class graduate when compared to the foreign ones. I read a news on BBC today about the productivity of graduates all over the world.
Which country really has the cleverest students? - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37649892
Funny how people come across same stuff. I read this same article yesterday or so..They say Australians are topping..

It's hard to answer your question because I have heard and seen instances where Africans like Nigerians, Ghanaians, Cameroonians etc top a whole department or even a whole school. But there are also many instances where the Nigerians and co are just among the best performing students, not the top. The question you have asked is an empirical question and to answer it, one must get data of performances of students across top universities..But the point I am trying to drum lol into fellow bros and sis here is that they cannot conclude that a first from abroad is inferior to first in Nigeria. That would be a weak and hasty generalization. This conclusion would only be accepted if the Nigerian first class students have consistently outperformed all of their foreign peers at the foreign schools. Whilst I accept that this happens sometimes and our brothers and sisters are truly doing great things out there, it's hardly the norm..Far from it..Getting a top grade is not easy anywhere
EducationRe: Nigerian Man Bags First Class In Engineering From London University. Photos by baum1: 4:14pm On Oct 20, 2016
4Play:
The difficulty of getting a first class in Nigeria is a reality independent of the quality of Nigerian education. Nigerian universities, particularly the government owned ones, traditionally are miserly with marks. This has no bearing on their quality, which is poor in my view.

On the other hand, UK universities are more likely to award high marks: 1/5th of undergrads end up with a first class and 2/3rds end up with at least a 2.1. This trend of high marks in grades applies at all levels, including secondary schools (look up grade inflation on the net).

The implication is that when you read about a Nigerian getting a first class in the UK, you shouldn't think of it as you would think of a first class at for instance OAU: a rare achievement bestowed on an academic prodigy.
Guy, I disagree with you on the highlighted. You are making a generalization, What makes you think the student getting a first class from a foreign university is not of the same quality as or higher than the student getting a first class from OAU or from any of the Nigerian university? That is an important first question.

If I go by your statement, I would conclude that when these Nigerian first class guys/ladies go abroad for studies, they are usually the best, not among the best oo, in their various classes. Whilst I agree that Nigerians can and do perform at a top level in their various courses abroad, they do not always outshine their counterparts from the Oyinbo schools. If this is true from data, then don't you think you need to rethink your submission?

About grade inflation, it's everywhere. In the days we went to school, first class was somewhat of a rarity, in fact the best in my cohort and other cohorts was a 2:1...Today, those same departments are producing at least 3 first class degrees and 2:1 is slowing becoming the average. In fact, if you check graduating data from NUC and all, you would see that the number of first class degrees as a whole in Nigeria has increased by nearly 100% in the past 20 years or so while 2:1 has increased by 65% or so. This is real, this is the reality. Similar conclusions have been reached in the US and UK. Those grades, while impressive, are not as they used to be anymore in Nigeria. Supply has increased!! Can't believe I wrote this about 1st and 2:1, but sadly it's the fact. Grade inflation is not a thing of the west. It's everywhere!

If you have a strong point to refute what I have written, I am open to our wisdom.

You have refused to see the brain behind my comment. The learning conditions and teaching styles in Nigeria is not helping students reach their full potentials.
Always make your implicit assumptions explicit - which you have now done, well done.

I partially agree with you. You're right on some fronts but not on all fronts. People are still making a first in the same Nigeria, under the same tough conditions. In fact, you'd be pleased to know that the number of first class degrees from Nigeria has ballooned in the last 20 years by almost 100%. Go and check! That is one. Two, some people have great learning conditions and no financial challenges and all but still made a 2:2. Based on your assertion, do we conclude that they would suddenly become a first class material when they enter a plane and land at Imperial College. No, it's not

Why won't you get first class after schooling abroad? Come to UNN and study Engineering, bobo if you get 2.2 I will buy you a car
I didn't want to respond to this point, but I will.

The foreign schools I know, and based on academic ability alone, anyone who gets a first there the least they can get in Nigeria is a 2:1. Not to now talk of Imperial College, a top school reputed for great engineering research in the UK.

All these 'he got it here he can get it there is not always true. It's amazing how you guys reach your conclusions without knowing the capabilities of people getting these high grades abroad. Anyway, there is an adage which says ' no matter what, na my papa farm big pass' smiley.

I am going to be serious with both suggestions, and report my experience.
Guy or big bros, don't get discouraged ooh if you could only manage 2 minutes in your first planking. Just do the proper form. Gradually, you will build to 5 minutes at a go, say after 6 months. I cannot guarantee that you will reach a 10 minute plank in your life smiley, but I know everything is possible if you mean it and set your mind to it.

For instance, world record for male category is 4 hours 26 minutes..Debatable though. The American guy that had the world record at 3 hours+ said the new record holder didn't hold the plank in the right format. Female category is 1 hour 20 minutes 2 seconds, 16 year old girl, American. I wonder how these people achieve this.

CareerRe: What Are The Career Options For An Actuarial Science Graduate by baum1: 12:46am On Oct 17, 2016

A friend of mine recently gained admission to study the course Actuarial science. The thing is that he applied for Accounting and was given Actuarial science because of his low aggregate score. After making research about the course on the internet his interest for the course was next to none so he decided to pursue a degree in the course and accept the admission. But his greatest fear is that he isn't sure of what the future holds for an Actuarial science graduate here in Nigeria. so please what advice do you have for this my friend ? Preferably an advice from any Actuarial science graduate here will be favourable
I am amazed that he did an internet search and still came up with nothing good. Actuary science is a great course, trains analytical skills and makes one a host of things - risk analyst, financial analyst etc. Tell your friend to study it and do well. He can later go for a professional accounting exam or even begin the accounting exam whilst studying actual science. If he is average or above in math, he should push himself and do well because actuary science requires math. If he wants to travel abroad later and practice actuarial science, he can begin the actuarial professional exams such as CAS or IA while in Nigeria. Anything he wants to do is possible. He just needs to be more determined.

Another thing he can do is to go on linkedin and try to connect with Nigerians who studied actuarial science.

In the qualifying matches of 1993 for both Tunisia and USA 94, Wilfred Agbonavbare kept the goal throughout.
Alloy Agu who was his deputy but not very reliable.
By Tunisia 94, Peter Rufai who has been absent from Eagles since 1988, was invited and displaced both Wilfred and Alloy Agu. His experience was needed and he was fit.
So, Enyeama's invitation if we qualify is not a new thing.
It's a welcome development. Besides, using other keepers in the qualifying matches will help them gain more experience and confidence. Enyeama has been tested and proven he needs a higher motivation at the highest level.
He remains Nigeria's longest continuous serving goal keeper, most capped and the most successful in history.
Thank you for the throwback. Didn't realise Wilfred kept throughout the qualifiers. May his soul rest in peace.

You have a strong point and really can't debate it. But if Ikeme is performing at an equally high level in the current matches, I no see why he go dey look while Iyama go keep all the matches. Anyway, let's wait and see..But Iyama's come back is a welcome development.
