Food › Re: Yoruba People And Oily Food by Bawss1(m): 1:00pm On Jan 21, 2012
Hmmm. Apparently something is amiss here. No slights or insults was intended in any of the OP's post or mine either yet it draws bitterness from some. Let me clearly state here that insulting anybody or group of people was never my intention. I hold no grudges against the Yorubas or any ethnic group for that matter.

It will be a pity if the differences noted in food preparation is see as some form of denigration. Posters who come to this section usually do so in goodwill and in good faith, nothing is gained by starting e-fights and hurling abuses about. Abi we wan turn this food section to insult arena?
^^i believe you meant to address the op and your fellow whiner.

did i go to igboland and start complaining about the food there? huh

some of us even tried to help the poster and show him what he did wrong [didnt i post photos], only for some losers to jump in and try to act ignorant.

if you cant eat food you're not used to, then stay home or go and marry somebody who will cook the food you want.

dont start whining everywhere when nobody dragged your leg to where you are.

not to mention you're too lazy to cook yet are still abusing others who do.
Why the venom? This thread was started in good faith yet you insist on seeing it as some kind of affront. Again relax, no need to get yourself all worked up.

It is amazing that even those who don't pay tax or NEPA bills will join in claiming that it is our money. Abeg let the man be and enough of this nonsense.

abeg make person hear word.

and do we see any complaints about americans/europeans and cheese?

colonial mentality at its best.
You apparently see this difference in food preparation as some kind of attack on your person or people. Such an outlook is not the best for your nerves or your stomach for that matter. A little relaxation will do you a world of good.

A little tip: this thread and indeed this section is a feel good section not one where tribal hatred holds sway so don't take things here too seriously.

@akwasi, the nigerian army carries a made in nigeria AKM, a mordernised version of the AKM. The nigerian secret service user tarvor-21 and it is by far the best intelligence service in africa. What do you guys have in ghana?
@ thize, there is no doubt that the south-african military is the best in africa. nigerian military photo's are hard to find, but judging from defence budget @ 2-3 billion dollars over the years, only a small fraction of countries, lets sy 2 or 3 ( south africa, egypt) are better than nigeria. With this years security budget at over 6 billion dollars, you can't tell. The nigerian military has all the equipments shown in your photo's including made in nigeria APC's and a made in nigeria survillence drone ( amebo-1).
So using a Tar-21 automatically qualifies an intelligence organization as the best? Na wa o for some brains o. shocked shocked shocked shocked

Besides how can you honestly say that the defense budget which runs into a couple of billion $ yearly is used correctly and not siphoned away under over inflated contracts.

TV/Movies › Re: Entertaining Our Children On Nigerian Television by Bawss1(m): 11:20am On Jan 20, 2012
I'd be surprised to find children today watching Nigerian TV when there are a dozen foreign, and I daresay, more entertaining stations out there. I grew up watching NTA and RSTV just like the OP described but when the better packaged foreign stations started becoming available me and my friends all made the switch. Those were the golden days. I think that with the way the Nigerian TV stations are run they will continue to have a hard time competing with the foreign ones.

Politics › Re: How Can We End Corruption In Nigeria: From Top To Bottom, Or Bottom To Top? by Bawss1(m): 10:25am On Jan 20, 2012
How about from side to side?

What kind of reasoning is this? Corruption can be fought effectively when we all do what is right within our respective areas of influence. We need not be involved with government to fight this monster. This is something all of us has had a hand in raising so why should it be any different in bringing it to a stop?

As if we don't already know.

Hahaha. I can easily relate to the plight of the OP. This was one of the first culture shocks that I experienced when I first moved to Lagos - oily meals! How people enjoy such meals remains a mystery to me till this day. Thankfully I found restaurants that prepared meals the way I like around my 'hood.

Won't mind recommendations for similar unique games.
How are you not a gamer but is kinda into games? grin For recommendations try the Batman prequel Arkham Asylum or any of the Uncharted games( if you own a PS3). They'll provide you with hours of fun.
