4 Play: Mariory:I find it so strange that people cannot differentiate between the Middle East and Africa. Why be so obsessed that you cannot separate topics? Its childish and desperate. We are talking Africa here (our home) and some are talking Israel. Na wa! What a waste of time! |
Nigerian flag is very wowo sha and looks like the apartheid Rhodesian flag! We should have done the same as 90% of black nations and chosen very meaningful colours, red for the blood, green for the land and yellow for the gold. |

frosbel:Why do you always ask strange questions? Does that question sound like a reasonable counter to any argument about why people were shot in international waters? Is it because Syrians and Iranians hate Israel that the activists were shot? Don't your questions sound like an incredibly loony angle to you? |
BOMANY:Some of the "Christians" here would easily swap roles with Hitler and never notice the contradiction. While there are exemplary ones like dayokanu, so many others just log on, join the pack of vultures, haul abuse and leave without as much as deploying the slightest whiff of a counter argument or logic. . . Just like area boys! Shameful really. |

Again, Explosion Rocks Yenagoa From Segun James in Yenagoa, 06.03.2010 Two separate explosions yesterday rocked Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital. One was recorded at the Deputy Governor Peremobowei Ebebi’s residence and the other at an hotel belonging to the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Nestor Ibinabo, a loyalist of Governor Timpreye Slyva. The explosion at Ebebi’s residence ripped off the fence. THISDAY learnt that no life was lost in both blasts said to have occurred at 8.30pm last night The blast is the latest in a series of bomb explosions that have been rocking Yenagoa in the last two months. Although it could not be ascertained who was responsible for the blast at press time, it was however learnt that the development may not be unconnected with the political crisis rocking the state. Information on the blast was sketchy last night. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Solomon Omoemin, confirmed the development but declined further comments. In April, a cache of explosives was found in the deputy governor’s hotel. An explosion also took place around Bayelsa road area hosting the private residence of the deputy governor that same month while another one was recorded at Etegwe behind White Eagle Hotel. There has been no love lost between Sylva and Ebebi for some time now. Only on Tuesday, the Bayelsa State House of Assembly formally served Ebebi an impeachment notice. The notice was signed by 17 out of the 24-member House admist heavy security, thus putting an end to speculations and denial of plots to remove him from office. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=174847 |

, Party Lifts Suspension on Nnamani, Masari From Chuks Okocha in Abuja, 06.03.2010 The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday in a fence-mending mission lifted the suspension slammed on 17 members of the Reform Forum within the party rooting for reforms. PDP, however, set up a five-man committee to review the complaints of the forum led by former Senate President Ken Nnamani, raising hopes of a resolution of the rift before the forthcoming elections. The party also rose in defence of President Goodluck Jonathan, saying the President has in no way betrayed late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. A close associate of the late Yar’Adua, Senator Kanti Bello, had in a newspaper interview accused President Jonathan of betraying his former boss, Yar’Adua, by allegedly upturning most of his policies. He cited the return of the former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, as an example. In a statement signed by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Ahmed Alkali, the party said it considered and reviewed the report of the meeting held with some members of its party operating under the aegis of the PDP Reform Forum. Alkali said that the party at the meeting also received submissions from the group containing details of their observations and recommendations. “The NWC also reviewed the suspension of 19 members of the party suspended on the 22nd of April, 2010. Accordingly, this suspension is hereby lifted. This will also give them equal opportunity to join members of the committee set up by the NWC to speed up the process of addressing the issues raised in their submission to the party. “Consistent with the deep commitment of our great party towards reconciliation, deepening internal democracy and openness, the NWC set up a five-member committee under the Chairmanship of the National Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, to look at all the issues raised with a view to recommending a way forward,” he said. PDP commended President Jonathan and Vice-President Sambo for their efforts in the resolution of the feud between it and the members of the reform forum but appealed to members to always channel their grievances through the appropriate organs of the party and refrain from undue sensationalism in order not to send the wrong signals to the electorate. Former Senate President and Co-coordinator of the Reform Group, Chief Ken Nnamani, described the lifting of the suspension on members of the group as a welcome development. “It is a welcome development. I am delighted to hear that the suspension is lifted. I am also happy that the party is looking into some of the complaints we raised. Any organization that does not allow itself for reforms is heading towards doom,” he said. The change of mind by the party was as a result of the intervention of President Jonathan represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo at a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and members of the reform forum at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday. Members of the forum whose suspension were lifted yesterday include Nnamani, Hon. Aminu Masari, Chief Onyema Ugoch-ukwu, Chief Tony Ukasanya, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chief Sunny Iroche, Senator Emmanuel Agboti, Senator Sylvanus Ngele, Senator Ifeanyichukwu Ararume, Chief Achike Udenwa, Chief Rochas Okorocha and Chief Chris Ekpeyong. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=174836 |

Jonathan Invited to G8 Meeting in Canada By Constance Ikokwu, 06.03.2010 In what could be viewed as further acceptance by the international community, President Goodluck Jonathan has been invited to the G8 meeting taking place in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada on June 25. The gathering will bring together leaders from the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Canada, Russia and the European Union (EU). The theme of the meeting is "Recovery and New Begi-nning". President Jonathan is expected to participate along with some African heads of states at the "Africa Outreach." Presidents of South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia and Senegal were invited as well as the Chairman of the African Union (AU) and President of Malawi Bingu wa Mutharika and Chairman of the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) and Ethiopian President Meles Zenawi. A range of issues including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be discussed by the attendees at the two-day event. Canada is hosting the event because it currently holds the G8 presidency which rotates among the most advanced countries in the world. The Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was quoted on the government website as saying that the country would use the 2010 G8 presidency to promote issues that concern all particularly maternal mortality and the health of children in the poorest regions of the world. Harper argued that several thousands of deaths could be halted by simple healthcare solutions such as better nutrition and immunization. Efforts by the United Nations (UN) to reduce maternal mortality by 75 per cent by 2015 as part of the MDGs may not be fulfilled, he said. But Canada would push for actions that would make remarkable impact, he stated. The G8 brings together the world's most advanced countries to brainstorm and take decisions on major global issues. It is an annual event that initially started as G6, later G7 and G8 when Russia joined the group in 1997. There have been suggestions that the group be expanded to admit developing countries such as Brazil, India, China, Mexico and South Africa. It is thought that the growing economies of these nations should earn them a seat in the gathering. They have previously been invited to G8 meetings as guests. But with developing countries pulling their weight, industrialised nations have noted that G20 groups of nations would eventually replace the G8 as the major forum for discussing world issues. Late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua represented Nigeria at the G8 summit in Italy in 2009. Before then, Yar'Adua had lamented the exclusion of Nigeria from the G20 summit. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=174848 |
mikeansy:In order not to derail 2011, the next best thing was to get a radical who wouldn't tow anybody's line into the post. If this man is confirmed, I expect immediate and full scale war within PDP, cos they fully intend to maintain the fundamental PDP right to rig. ![]() If the NASS is sitting on the Uwais report in order to frustrate electoral reform, then the best way to checkmate them is by agreeing with them on the recommendation they hate most, which is that the President must NOT choose the INEC chair. Jonathan 1, NASS 0 . . . and the saga continues. |
The only positive about the court action is that it exposes their foolish shakara that sharia is above the constitution. Now they are only acting out the fools role in public as they have been doing in private. |
So the Sharia Supreme Council is suing govt organs for breaching the human rights of a 50 year old dog that is ra'ping a 13 year old? God punish all of them! ![]() |

montelik:Its the Germans ganging up the lone Aussie. Vettel was drafted in as the German knight into an Austrian team. Did you hear all the rubbish Macko spouted, including swearing? I really feel sorry for Mark Webber now. He is in a den of lions. If Lewis doesn't win the WDC this year, then I back Webber all the way. Vettel is a spoiled little prick. Red Bull will probably implode before the season is out. I don't see the English speakers remaining after the Webber saga, maybe it will be back to McLaren for Adrian Newey or he might try Ferrari (who must be desperate for an ace designer). |
Thats how advanced countries look for talent all the way from childhood. Nigeria, on the other hand tends to see smart people as spoilers of the party. We must catch, encourage and build up our talented kids early too. |

frosbel:Finkelstein's words are "beer palour unfactual talk"? Somebody, tell me I'm only dreaming!!!! So you can't stomach the fact that Finkelstein is both a Jew (which you aren't You sound just like the Christian version of Al-Qaeda, like a general in Uganda's Lords army; making all sorts of immature and far fetched ridiculous claims. Finkelstein is talking about his own country, just tell us why you think he is wrong like an adult, instead of making childish outbursts. |
frosbel:Totally immature attempt at emotional blackmail. How do you know if you are talking to a Muslim, Jew or Christian? What evidence do you have that anyone is a Jew hater? Counter opposing arguments with your own arguments. Is it so hard? Are you guys this weak? |

Do you expect 24 hour electricity and development in 4 months, even if Jonathan was to invoke every human part in jankara market? |
You have not answered my question . . . So you have suddenly become a PDP member. For the upteenth time, we are talking about a political party's agreement which has nothing to do with Nigerian constitution. Jonathan should not pretend as if he doesn't know that such agreement exists.
About the bolded, don't talk rubbish, ain't smart. Goodluck Jonathan is the President of Nigeria, not PDP. The Nigerian constitution supercedes any party's agreement and it gives every qualified Nigerian the right to aspire for the Presidency; there's no zoning in it. |
justjane2:Why? Because it turns out that I don't hate Israel as you would wish? ![]() |
viewlekan:Like I said, you seem to have no counter arguments. How much does any of the emotionalism above have to do with the shooting of international volunteers in international waters? I am baffled! |
Kgdavid:Its not just the Japanese. I posted a video of the Canadian govts handling of troublesome activists. Watch it, that is civilisation in action. |
Onlytruth:I agree with you that Jonathan must begin to lay down pathways to tackle the big questions that haunt Nigeria. The problem is that his time is too short and we might end up asking too much. Nigeria as a whole needs a period of time to overcome the instability caused by the Yar Adua cabal. |
So you are now a PDP member, right? Nigerians will never cease to amaze me. . . . It is quite ironic that most southerners are now PDP members just because their brother ascended to the helm of Nigerian affairs , the same PDP they are calling the worst thing that ever happened Nigeria. This scenario playing out has also exposed the tribalistic tendencies of most Nigerians, especially how it has been turned into anti - north sentiment. In referrence to the issue of the agreement, it was simply based on North - south rotation. However, we should always try to clarify that this is a political party's gentleman agreement and not Nigerian constitution.
What is the rant (bolded) about? As to the rest of your argument; what do you understand to be the Nigerian constitutions take on zoning? |
^ You are so funny. Go check the events of Thursday, October 25, 1962. After that, you can take a sit. But for now, you are ignorant. If you have no counter arguments, why not just pass by? dayokanu:You can look a few pages back. I really didn't appreciate the "you and your people" thing. The question is; should there have been soldiers there in the first place? One grossly irresponsible decision can cascade into a torrent of mayhem as we have seen. |

Doesn't seem to me like MEND use proportionate force.

) had their way and even Obasanjo could not change it which is why he picked Yar adua after his 8 year tenure. So, when elements in the north argue that Obasanjo deliberately picked Yar adua in order to expeditiously return power to the south, they seem to have a case.
