Let us look at the true evidence of Peckham in London: Peckham Pulse (Exercise and Healthy Living Centre): http://www.fusion-lifestyle.com/centres/Peckham_Pulse_Healthy_Living_Centre Peckham Library - Front view: http://www.galinsky.com/buildings/peckham/index.htm Peckham Library - Rear view: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Peckham_library_1.jpg Peckham Library - At night: http://www.archidose.org/Jul00/alsop3.jpg Block of flat and office located at Peckham Road: http://www.osborn-securities.co.uk/index.php?/case_studies/14/ View of part of Peckham - Old Kent Road: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:OKRScan.jpg More: http://www.arthurlloyd.co.uk/PeckhamTheatres.htm Local business in Peckham: http://www.criticalnetwork.co.uk/whats_on/peckham_shops/peckham_shops.html Peckham Lodge - Hotel accommodation: http://www.laterooms.com/en/p5573/hotel-pictures/97139_peckham-lodge-london.aspx Many more - Varieties: http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=9074427 My people, visit Peckham and see for yourself. |
blackspade, You have only visited London two times and come to a conclusion of Peckham being a ghetto. That is a very wrong conclusion. I am very disappointed in your stance about this video. Peckham is a bona fide place in London. Peckham is not a ghetto as some people call it. The video correctly titled Peckham as a multicultural place. Peckham has all the nationalities around the world, not only Nigerians. The black people on the video are not all Nigerians. The video shows a market street in Peckham, London. How else should a market look like? How many markets in Nigeria are as organised as that in Peckham? Why is there no recording of residential areas? I am very surprised that some people simply have the appetite to criticise without any evidence to justify the criticism. This video is an open market of people buying and selling on a commercial street in London. People should learn to say the truth at all times. |
Thank you to all who have made contributions so far. Many people will read your contribution and get some understanding. However, it appears the respondents so far are mostly ladies. Please let's hear something from more of our men to create a balanced view. |
Many have different views about the ingredients that sustains a marriage from destruction. The following are some of the responses received from a recent survey among a group of friends: --There must be loads of money to spend --Lady must be beautiful --The man must be handsome --The man must be working --Etc etc Please readers what do you think sustains a marriage. |
The FG should start by probing the recipients of its investment money. There is no need to chase the wind. The FG failed in many areas such as: Dilapidated or absent school infrastructure Owing wages for teachers No modern and adequate teacher training I visited a public school in Benin city and I was in shock to see that the school had no chairs for school children. Some children had to bring their own chairs from home. What is more shameful than that? In conclusion, NIGERIA HAS NO LEADERSHIP. I recommend recolonisation of Nigeria to save the citizens from the strangle hold of its Nigerian elitist leadership. |
Kudos to Nigerians in Diaspora. It appears that some people here still do not know the issues in debate in this forum. Why has EFCC become a lame dock? Why has EFCC become a toothless bulldog? Why was Ribadu removed and replaced with Mrs Donothing? I have nothing against the removal of Ribadu but why replace him with a worse candidate? Nigerians at home should begin to face reality and take action against corruption and injustice. Otherwise Nigerians will still be asking questions when the next election is being stolen yet again? Wetin Farida do NLF?Go and read the first post on this debate. NLF are Nigerians in Diaspora who are fed up of corrupt practices in Nigeria. While many Nigerians are in Nigeria struggling to survive, many of our leaders are abroad singing their own praises. What praises do we have to sing in Nigeria? - Is it electricity, good road, housing, pipe borne water, decent healthcare or justice for common man? The list continue, What use is EFCC if criminals are enjoying themselves with the Oil money belonging to all Nigerian? |
This is the best way to deal with Nigerian leaders. They know the right thing but they will not do it. There is order and decency in New York. If New York is good for your speech, New York follows rules of protest. Nigeria will not support protest because there is no rule in Nigeria. No rules and no law in Nigeria, therefore, no civilisation. Good one from our brothers in New York. Our brothers in London are also helping to tame the Nigerian crooks. Nigerians at home, the ball is now in your court, do your own small bit to rescue the shame we have in Nigeria. This is one way to bring about change in Nigeria. If our leaders hate shame, let them change their wickedness. |
If the tax is fair on everyone, everyone will pay it without complain. It looks like the new tax system is not fair. Lagos State Government should do better. Income tax and Car tax should be differentiated. |
In London, the Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) system of taxation affects every employed person. It is a progressive system of taxation. PAYE has no relevance to the car you drive, car or no car. The Road Tax system in London covers every car on the road. High Emission cars in London pay higher Road Tax. All luxury cars in London do not pay high Road Tax. In fact, some luxury cars have Road Tax exemption if it is environmentally friendly e.g. Electric cars, etc. High Emission cars in London, whether luxury or not, are paying high Road Tax. There is only one Road Tax all over the United Kingdom. However, in Central London, there is a daily Congestion Charge or Congestion Tax. If you avoid the affected areas in Central London, you will escape the payment. |
Why not sample some electric bikes and real prices? Many people can afford that: http://www.greencarsite.co.uk/forsale/00554%20New%20fun5%20electric%20bikes.htm http://www.greencarsite.co.uk/forsale/00553%20New%20fun7%20electric%20bikes.htm What about a car for the less loaded? http://www.greencarsite.co.uk/forsale/00747%20Mega-Electric-e-City-car-for-sale.htm Why not try Nissan? http://www.nissan.co.uk/GB/en/inside-nissan/innovation-and-technology/ev.html In conclusion, electric cars or bikes are possible and affordable in Nigeria. If you have not seen the possibilities of technology, do not argue blindly. |
The stalemate and stagnation of these cases in court is the evidence that there is no law in Nigeria. EFCC has no power to sentence anyone, they have to use the court like everyone else. EFCC can investigate and submit cases before the law court. That is their remit. The legal system in Nigeria favours the rich and famous. This is the evidence that the development of Nigeria will not happen until the current trend is reversed. To put it mildly, Nigeria is doomed. The evidence is clear. You do not have to believe my view. My view is based on factual evidence. |
Quote from samstels Gents,I totally agree with you here. It will not take a lot for individual youths to engage within their immediate locality. The change should start from me and you. If each and every youth adopt the same simple strategy, there will be improvement in the process and the result generated from the process will be fairer. |
If you talk STRATEGY to some Nigerian youths, they will not understand. This is why I think the best option is to come to local level and allow every youth to perform within their own immediate territory (home, work, community, etc). Politicians do not engage in thuggery, they pay youths to do it. If youths avoid all acts of corruption, the election malpractices will be 50% solved. No country has 100% election success but the closer to 100%, the better. |
The youths of Nigeria can reclaim Nigeria if they say 'NO' to corruption. The election season is near and many politicians employ youths as thugs. Are Nigerian youths only good for thuggery and gang formation? Let Nigerian youths wake up from their sleep and face reality: * Avoid all forms of inducement to engage in political thuggery to help corrupt politicians. * Avoid politically motivated gangs and hired killers. * Use your vote wisely. * Encourage your parents and family members to use their vote wisely. * Do not vote because you have been given a bag of rice, beans, salt, etc. Vote for your choice of candidate. * Be ready to expose all forms of election malpractices - use digital cameras and videos to gather evidence. Let the youths use technology to the full to rescue Nigeria from decay. |
1. Do not get physical with her, you will land yourself in trouble. 2. Return her to her family quickly. 3. By the time she put to bed in her father's house, you would have made up your mind about your plan. There are many responsible and irresponsible people. Do not despair, have courage and move on. |
All, You have to understand the dilemma of the doctors. The government should commit to pay health care cost for the first 48 hours of treatment because treatment cannot happen by chance. Many hospitals in Nigeria are private businesses, they pay staff wages and tax to the government. It will be unfair if the government fail to provide any financial support to cover the free treatment of gunshot patients. The government should have a genuine policy in place to support the Police and Health professionals in their jobs. It is not enough to approve treatment of all gunshot patients, the government should provide a general policy to support all stakeholders (Police, Members of the public, Hospitals, Doctors, etc) in their duties. A general policy will remove confusion and show who is responsible for what. |
fine.boy, If you do not know God, this is your opportunity to be close to God through Jesus Christ. If you know God, utilise the wisdom of God to get what you want. Your girl is not the cause of your bad luck. 1. As many people have said, you must pray to God to help you in anything you do. 2. You must be ready to take bold step as a man, without fear. 3. Your girl will be a source of help for you if you plan your life well. If your girl is working, she can help you to go through difficult financial problems. If she is not working, you have to support her to start a small business so that when things do not work out from your own work, her small business will act as support for both of you. You and your girl must be ready to work together as one team in full cooperation. Do not let other people's responsibilities pull you down because you have to be standing solid to be able to lift somebody else from the ground. Pray and act in faith, God will lead you. |
It will end when corruption ends. |
I have become so confused about corruption in Nigeria. Corruption has crippled the banking system in Nigeria. If there was no CBN audit, nobody will know that corruption has eaten deep into our banking system. Cecelia Ibru claimed she is a Christian. How long would people continue to deceive themselves? What about other sectors that were not audited? Oil, Gas, etc etc etc. I wonder what will be exposed if other sectors are audited. Now we know why our country is dying a slow death. Every Nigerian must begin to search himself or herself. Corruption in Nigeria is not coincidence, it is real and while a selected few are benefiting, the consequence on the majority of the people is too graphic to explain. Are you involved in anyway in corrupt practices in your business or work or community? STOP IT NOW! |
The idea of a multi-purpose identity card is good but implementation is bad. The current identity card has been full of implementation problems. Many people applied but have not been able to get their own card. The FG is failing on implementation. The same will happen in any new card. I wonder why the FG does not do any reliable feasibility study before introducing something as important as a National identity card system. |
@ Who inspired the musical beats to the instrumentalist in the first place? There are varieties of musical beats. These beats have their purpose for each and every musician. The owner of the music has a purpose for it. There are godly music and there are ungodly music, that is the fact. As much as God likes music, he does not like ungodly music. God provided the inspiration for music but not all musicians are using their gift to glorify God. God is merciful, hence he did not take away the gift he gave to people. Ungodly people are breathing the air God gave, if not for his mercy. |
@Pataki, In my opinion, I reckon it is permissible to adapt secular music with ''moderation''. Just as the bible says: Let your moderation be known unto all men. Apostle Paul said: To the Jews, I became a Jew, to the Romans, I became a Roman. . . just so that I may win them. My purpose to worship my Maker, and if it surely attracts people to God, I would forever indulge myself in it, but with MODERATION[For example, Would you become a thief to be able to convert another thief to God? Or would you become a thief in moderation to convert another thief? |
NO. It is not permissible to adapt secular music for worshiping the almighty God. If you are a Christian and have the understanding of teaching children, you will not find any difficulty in helping our young ones to know God. You cannot use the kingdom of darkness to teach children about God because God belongs in the light. If you need help with how to teach children about God, start a new topic with your request and many Christians will come to your aid. You will be surprised at the support you will get. For example, how would you use the coven of witches and wizards to teach children about God? Can you not see that God and wizard/witches are like two parallel lines? If you use someone else's secular music instrumental and superimpose Godly lyrics (words), you are in copyright infringement of the law - that is a type of music piracy. |
If we must erase our western ideology, polygamy is part of Nigerian tradition. Before the arrival of colonialism and afterwards, polygamy was fine in Nigeria. The lifestyle in developed countries seem to be dictating that polygamy is no longer a good idea. Nigerians have lived with it for centuries, even now. I think polygamy is a personal decision in Nigeria, since it does not break any law or traditional values in Nigeria. The western world can hold on to their own belief, they are welcome to import some polygamy to their shores. |
All, browncocos has hit the nail on the head. That advice is free and valuable. The American tax system can take plenty money from you but it will not take away your university degree. Getting education on arrival in yankee is one nice advice. Its not all about petty jobs to make quick money. If you want to be among the 'A' list, you have to put in some sacrifice on arrival, get education. When you eventually relocate back to Nigeria with your qualification from yankee, you will be worth more than silver and gold. Above all, you will not wait for the Nigeria government to employ you before you begin to employ yourself and other people. A word is enough for the wise. |
Some of the contributions here show that there is no problem having many wives. In fact, Nigeria culture and law does not limit the number of wives a man can have. Let us face the reality. What about the consequence of having more than one wife? I mean the effect of having more than one. Anyone still there? |
As they say, God who provided the kids will provide a way of survival. Hahahaaaaaaa! |
What is the estimated full cost of having Solar energy installation (including materials) for: 2 Bedroom house 3 bedroom house 4 bedroom house 5 bedroom house etc |
Post pictures of the property. |
@Poultryman, I believe that somebody can become a millionaire in a good Poultry business. However, the picture you displayed is not a good example of a poultry business because the accommodation is over-crowded. The chickens will die of exhaustion in a short time and only the fittest will survive. That's not good for a viable millionaire business. A good poultry will limit the number of chickens within one accommodation and there will be good ventilation to help the survival of the chickens. |
I read a news article on BBC website titled, "I married four women to save money". For those interested in the full story, see the link below: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/8292312.stm Is polygamy accepted in the modern day in Nigeria? Will Nigerians like the idea of polygamy? Has polygamy any gain in Nigeria? Is polygamy about saving money? Is polygamy about having many hands for farm work? etc etc. It will be nice if we can get contribution from people with experience of polygamy. Let us discuss this topic in a sensible way. What do you think? |
This report shows that the developed nations are seeking to use Africans to help their own development in the short and long term. Migration is good but developed nations always want to maximise their gain from the equation. As a result, developed nations use different strategies to drain intelligent brians from Africa to their own countries. Unfortunately, leaders in Africa, especially Nigeria, are not doing enough to keep our professionals at work at home to the benefit of the nation. Read the report and different people may make different meanings out of the report.
