Not sure how that would help though. African countries are most hostile to themselves than European countries are to each other. Infact African countries respect the western countries more and are ready to shift grounds to accommodate them than their own African Brothers and sisters.
As an African, you can't even travel freely or live freely within another African Union or Ecowas country... what makes us different from the western countries requesting visas from Africans before they can visit? Crazy
What I'm saying in essence is that, greed above anything else fuels these calls for disintegration any more than the feeling of being marginalized.
JerryLekki: Personally, I think all African countries should renegotiate their sovereignty. It is foolhardiness to be clingy to the greedy, unlawful, illegal and immoral partitioning of Africa in 1884 by white racists.
We need new countries in Africa. We should however not resort to this level of crass violence to achieve it.
Until we sit down and talk, across Africa, we will keep having this issues. I mean, look at the Ambazonia issue in Cameroon.
Den say come down you nor gree, what if they open fire on the car?
saaphiere: In a video that went viral few days ago, a music producer Superwozzy made a distress call telling people to come to his rescue that he is being harassed by some officers of the Nigeria police force. In the video, Superwozzy claimed he has nothing illegal in his possession. And refuses to open the car door he was inside for police to carryout a search.
The bus companies may be discreet about it hence dem telling you no movement but we all know the borders are passable with the right amount of money exchanging hands. To be safe though, why not gk by flight?
So annoying.... including those that will ask you 'what's your budget'... I hated dem all
pocohantas: Why do they do this? What are they hiding? It is annoying, stressful and scares clients away. Maybe I am wrong and it actually works for them. Any of them here should please explain to me the idea behind this.
hayzee545: Hello Nairaland, I am just curious to know if Embassy normally opens during nationwide industrial action in Nigeria. The reason why I am asking this question is that there is possibility that NLC begins their strike on Monday, and I have a visa interview at the Czech embassy on Tuesday, and I am worried if there would not be interruption because I travelled all the way from Lagos to Abuja for the interview. For those that have been in this situation before, kindly share how you managed the situation. Thank you.
Instead of the people to cover up the corpse and prepare for burial, they're busy snapping. By now they should be burning government cars in Aba and protesting his death. Instead na... their people are their own best enemies
Skin should have been harvested as leather but no ...we must eat the meat plus the awor ....thats hundreds of thousand dollars ending up in the soup pot and sockaway at the end of the day
vheckthor1: This snake was killed along Lagos Ibadan expressway early hours of this morning (midnight) and it's ending up in pot of sweet soup. come and enjoy the sweet delicacy over to you nairaland animal activist
You have a point there but don't forget that in China ...its about their population and the average Chinese man having the opportunity to be seen, heard or appreciated hence they venture out to live their lives out of pressure
The Nigerian situation is much different ....the people are migrating for survival. Few people albeit with connections are making it locally. No business thrive here without the backing of 'someone who knows someone-who knows someone-who knows someone' close to a cabal member who can make things happen for them. Its crazy.
Abagworo: Nigeria is not worse than those places but rather we have more migrant population. There are more Chinese in other parts of the world than Nigerians but China is probably the best Country in the world today.
Sure you need not any kain insurance company o! They call them underwriters
Efeman1: Hmm... So this is the model they use... Very helpful. Thanks a lot @bigtt76. Seems this model only opens business windows for big players like slots and underdogs are left to get their supplies only from big players like slot.
I will research the level of insurance and the requirements players like slot needs to meet to earn their place in the game.
Perhaps we need this so that during the next election cycle, the candidates are placed on their toes to commit to making Nigeria better so we avoid this recurring issues and held accountable.
ignis: Naija is gradually becoming a laughing stock in the international scene
KamsiViva: I have an online course and my students in Ghana are unable to make payment via paystack, they keep requesting for mobile money number which I don't have or know how to get it quickly, can anyone suggest other payment platform I can use?
It's a physical market place model. The OEMs through their direct distributors push their goods to customers through Slot. Slot earns a commission off the sales. The OEMs sometimes go direct if they have a registered presence in the country.
With this model, Slot does not tie down its capital in product purchase for retail. They would however need to offer some form of insurance to the OEMs against theft and fire incidence.
I hope this helps.
Efeman1: It's amazing to see the number of patronage the gadget industry enjoys from Nigerians. As such, as a curious business mahn who loves to weigh in on my investments, I will like to know how major phone dealers gets their supplies from major brands.
Ok they should share with us the bank account number to pay off our own share of the debt.....at least those who can afford it and in return our taxes are waived
Kendumazy: The Debt Management Office, DMO, has announced that the total debt stock of Nigeria rose to N31 trillion as of June 2020.
It also said the debts are expected to rise this year following more debts to be sourced from international financiers.
As of March 2020, the debt was at N28.6trn comprising all debts of the Federal Government, the 36 state governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The latest debt total of N31.009trn debt is about $85.897 billion while that of March which was N28.628trn was about N79.303bn.
Cause of increase
The debt stock grew by N2.38trn or $6.59bn within the three months interval.
The additional increase was due to the $3.36bn Budget Support Loan from the International Monetary Fund IMF), new Domestic Borrowing to finance the Revised 2020 Appropriation Act, the issuance of the N162.557bn Sukuk, and Promissory Notes issued to settle Claims of Exporters.
The components of the debts are:
The multilateral debts are the highest of the stock of N16.360trn accounting for 51.97% of the total stock. The 10 agencies include IMF, World Bank Group, the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Eurobonds and Diaspora bonds.
The bilateral debts account for N3.948trn representing 12.54% of the debt stock taken from the international development agencies of China, France, Japan, India and Germany.
The third debt category is the commercial debt which is N11.168trn and represents 35.48% of the debt. This is the second largest debt after those of the multilateral agencies with Eurobonds and Diaspora bonds accounting for them.
Further rise
The debt stock will rise with the expected borrowing from the World Bank, African Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank which were arranged to finance the 2020 Budget Appropriation.
The Nigeria Customs Service was recently given part of these funds to automate its services at the ports, to the tune of $3.1 billion.
Most of the loans are long term facilities with the repayment beginning already while the fresh loans’ repayment begin from 2022.
On the Sukuk bonds and other domestic bonds, their maturity periods are often between five and seven years for the repayment.
What you owe
The ministry of finance recently said there are plans made for the loans to be repaid. So far in the 2020 budget, over N3 trillion or a quarter of the budget is dedicated to debt servicing, for repaying the debts.
At N31 trillion, every Nigerian from the over 200 million population owes the debtors N155,000 in debt.
This debt per Nigerian will rise further when the loans from World Bank, AfDB and IsDB comes in later this year.
Exactly... I even forgot the Ecowas secretariat is in Abuja. I guess the traders just wanted to whip up sentiment based on the visit. Thanks for clarifying.
Ironi: Akuffo Addo’s visit to Nigeria 2 days ago had nothing to do with Buhari, he had to call on Buhari as a courtesy.
Akuffo was on a working visited to the ECOWAS office To meet the staff for the first time and introduce himself as the head of the ECOWAS, simple. He was on duty .
This guy should stop whining naaa no bilateral agreement has been reached.
What happened was mere diplomatic fact finding mission. Vice president's visit was for a different event and he used that opportunity to meet with the traders, no indication of him meeting with Ghana government officials on same.
Ghana president visited Nigeria on Sunday, there's the likelihood discussions may center around it but I can bet his visit was to brief Buhari on the Mali crisis and perhaps border closure issues.
A bilateral agreement is the result of a high-level meeting between both countries' cabinet etc... It may take years to arrive at because concessions has to be met.
Nice one. I hope they don't intend going to tribunal though. President Buhari bungled their hopes by first congratulating the winner whom he had earlier received in audience before the botched primaries. His declaring it a free and fair election laid the basis of this from the party.
Hoping that APC does not unleash amotekun on voters come 10 October
Not having a valid license is not a cause of accidents. It is not also the same thing as not being licensed to fly. Flying requires knowledge on flying and if the pilot is well trained to fly, having a valid license is just administrative especially if s/he is used to fly a particular aircraft
Agreed, this is the ideal situation but what if the crew decided not to take on full fuel load? May be due to lack of funds to cover full fuel load and instead decided to take on anticipated load?
Like for example a car driver may estimate fuel load from Abuja to Lagos to be 100Ltr instead of the car full capacity of 150Ltr and unfortunately the 100Ltr failed to last the trip?
Also, is it possible that the pilot made other flight detour which led to fuel load exhausted quickly?
AIB claimed this particular aircraft has no way of ditching fuel mid-air.. is it not possible that that feature may have been tampered with before. There were aims the aircraft was not airworthy... Who knows.
Thanks for the well articulated explanations very apt!
May God banish the entitled spirit from Business Times Ng .....so because forex scarce, baba cannot flex again? Do you know why there's a limit on MasterCard Naira? Mind you there's no limit on MasterCard Dollar ....what if he made the purchase using his own sourced dollars? What if he has other fledging businesses outside earning him dollars?
Have they not given this one something to eat or drink so Nice one though ...love the bonding
saaphiere: In an Instagram video shared yesterday Sunday 20th September, 2020 by Dj Cuppy On her Instagram story, ‘Daddy of the year’ Femi Otedola was seen dancing with his daughters. Having a fun-filled family time with them. Watch the video below.
Ok I understand but you know our people at MMIA ...they may first ask you for your airline + destination and based on the information they have, restrict your access to the departure hall. Best you find out from your airline their requirements before leaving for the airport.
Brightingsus: Yeah, that's the info we are privy to. It is airline and destination country dependent. I was misinformed you are asked for the test before you are allowed to get inside the airport from street level
So this below is what I picked up from the FAQ ...its all dependent on your Airline and or your destination country. All the best.
Brightingsus: Thanks for your feedback. I think those links are mainly for returnees or passengers whose flights or destinations countries require them. I wanted to know people's experiences at MMIA.
