If you can get it before coming, do so but really compulsory but depends on the type of jobs you are looking at and their requirements

Good evening everyone, please I will be coming to Uk by next month so I want to know if I really need police clearance certificate as a new comer to get a job.

don't mind her, I just de laugh when reading it cos I'm subscribed to Clearscore app and despite all their hoodwinking me with available credit cards as do others....I know say levels never reach for me to obtain them cos I'm financially disciplined. Anything I cannot afford to pay cash for, I don't use my CC. I pay with my CC to build my credit history and not to splurge on delayed money pleasures it offers ....may be not now.

Lexusgs430:

In her case, it was pure greed...... Because they offer you credit, does not necessarily mean you should take it all........

Did she have to buy a Β£12,000 vehicle (that she clearly could not afford)....... What happened to buying a vehicle of Β£2000.........

I get offered loans on the average of twice a week (I simply delete the emails).... Also car finance deals, I simply look the other way........ 😜

Financial discipline is key and very important, in all you do........ πŸ€£πŸ™„

Having more credit cards is a more dangerous game, not many people can play. In UK, the ideal is 2 or 3, then balance transfer cards for well-thought out heavy expenses with extreme discipline.

First have you registered to be on the electoral roll? Very important in building your credit history. Do you have a contract phone that you post pay? You start having credit score recorded for you immediately you start making payments on your bills. Signing up on Totally Money, Experian and other credit reporting platforms might help too.

Good thing you can report your rents as well... Will share the link below for you to sign up for free after doing your due diligence on same.

Use the following to report your rent payment to report the rent payment to credit agencies.
2. Credit Ladder sign up using my referral https://www.creditladder.co.uk/join/4kN2nMj0DmjpABDL),

3. Loqbox (sign up using my link https://www.loqbox.com/en_gb/loqbox-invite?referral_code=SZJ9DXFXHX&referral_channel=link)

Need advice please
How long after getting into UK would someone have a credit score? Been here since 2nd week in June on a dependent visa. Not started working yet. Have an account with Lloyd, Monzo and Revolut.
Just rented an apartment this month though and haven’t started paying any bills.
Just want to know if anyone has an idea of when one can start having credit history

There are other factors checked by the CC companies not necessarily your credit score.

For example if you are registered to vote in an area, how long you've lived there, frequency of bills paid (credit history) earned from paying for example utilities, council tax, phone contract etc.

They also want to know you are earning income in the country. The number of years don't matter really.

Hello House,

I am trying to get a credit card from American Express but they rejected my application. I have an 808 credit score from Experian. When I was filling out the form, I was asked to fill in 3years address in the UK but I have only stayed for 1 year. I would like to ask if that was the reason for the rejection and if there is a way around it. Thank You.

Waiting for your responses.

Imagine the werey, next oga go say his wife's boss de knack dats why she got the car from the office... me can be complicated πŸ˜‚

Mindlog:

This reminds me of a couple who came to the UK in September 2021 via study route. The husband was the student while the wife was the dependent and working full time as a domiciliary care worker to support clearing her husband's outstanding tuition fees as the husband was strictly working 20hrs weekly as a student and covered their rent and feeding. Few months down the line, the company gave the wife a small car to be driving to their different service users' homes to provide care, the company gave her a fuel card and were responsible for maintaining the car which she drove home daily even when off shift, the car was with her.

When she was off shift and the car packed in front of their residence, oga go dey insist on wifey to give him car keys so he could drive around for a while but wifey would refuse, reminding him that should he get involved in an accident or got fined for traffic violations while he is the one behind the wheels, she will be in trouble and insurance would not cover the damages. That caused a big strain in their marriage, oga reported her to relatives back in Nigeria of being selfish and arrogant. cheesy cheesy cheesy

Be like you be feminist eh πŸ€πŸ˜‚

Anyway, my suggestions is based on the context that since the OP mentioned the benevolence of his brother in law to him and his family, it only makes sense put of courtesy to buy in both their names a gift to them.

Though OP didn't mention if the in-law on his own could afford to own a car but I believe he should and if he wanted or the wife requested, he could easily get it for her.

Now for the wife's brother to now go behind and buy a car for his sister and in her name could be seen by her husband as underscoring his capacity to provide for his family. You know men can be jealous at times. Just to avoid unnecessary wahala ... buying in their name prevents that with the hope that the husband would read between the lines and say ok - babe you take this car and be using to commute to work. Case close.

If you feel this is not a good option then.... I'm not in a position to debate it any longer with you 😘

Farfalla:

How will it cause family problems? If a car will facilitate her transport to work, where will the family problems come from?

Ooh I'm aware of it, I was only shocked at the boldness of the questions πŸ˜‚

Ralphlauren:

I'm surprised this arranged marriage is news to you and some people on this thread. Lol.

Go to X (formerly known as twitter), you will see people shamelessly advertising/soliciting for "dependents" under this "sham" marriage agreement.

If its that bad on X, now imagine other platforms.

The current abuse of UK immigration system is soooooo bad. I have never seen it as bad as this before. undecided

You are correct you can't use share code for the application if you are on some category of visa like study visa.

Yes Ma'am, I read the share code info on the form but when I tried using the link provided to login, it said my details can't be found.

How you go buy from your customer? Who con de customer de other when e bi you de buy? πŸ€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

fineboynl:
This new yam was sold to me for 2000 naira because i was a customer. In my present it was sold to another woman with abeg for 2500.

It was my usual customer and I bought more than one.

The increase was due to inflation in the country in addition to transportation cost.

This yam was cheap because if was onitsha yam that was transported to enugu. I was told the transport cost 200k.

Hausa yam wouldn’t be cheap either the ondo yam here was very small and expensive. Benue yam is yet to arrive but that still would be more costly.

Yes they would need your original BRP in the mail together with your completed form and passport photograph. I always advise including a registered self-addressed envelope in the pack so that they can return your BRP and you can track it too.

Lastly, register the entire pack (completed form + BRP + self addressed envelope) so you can track it's delivery to the DVLA.

You should get it back within 2 weeks and the provisional driver's license in 3 weeks. All the best

Nelsmannnnnnnnn:
@biggtt76

I was looking for information about the UK provisional driving license, so I had to go back to older posts and saw your comment on how you went back and forth with DVLA on your application.

Please I recently applied for the provisional driving license, I received a form via post from them today to fill. My issue is, do I have to put my original passport or BRP in the return envelope cos that's where I'm not comfortable with and they said they don't want photocopy.

Could you please guide me through this?

Response from others here will be appreciated.

Aside your first degree, if I may ask ...what profession were you in? My suggestion though - before you japa, farabale and learn something in tech to complement you.

I want to pursue a masters abroad as a means of escaping this country. I’m jobless at the moment but I’ve been saving from my former job for two years and also got a couple millions from sport betting and inheritance.

I’m confused about this while japa thing as I don’t want to go abroad and start doing useless jobs or start suffering or get depressed in another man’s land. I want stability and peace in a country with a reasonable economy.

Also, I have a first degree in English language, I’m 24. I’m confused on the path of my life to take please advise me.

Buy it in their names since the guy has also been instrumental to you an your family. Let it be an appreciation to them both. Let her husband decide how or who rides it.

YoungDaNaval:
Greetings naira Landers, my only sister is happily married to a lawyer and this guy have been instrumental to me and my family since he got married to my sister. Now I intend getting a car for my sis because her office is a little bit far from their home, the problem now is I don't know how her husband will feel if I use my sister's name for the car papers. Now I'm contemplating between using only her name or including her husband's name to the document which made me to bring the question here. Please married couples in the house,I need your sincere advice.

Note: I don't want to discuss this with my sis and her husband because I want the car to be a surprise
