The last employed job I had was in a private firm which I got affected by downsizing.

Pending when I will land a good job, these days, I do house and property agent. I also do menial jobs sometimes just to eck a living. Sometimes it takes long before I seal a deal. The last money I made was just something above 50k which I handed over 80% of the money to her for family upkeep and other expenses. She's pregnant with our first child and misbehave a lot.

And now her mother is sick and she wants to travel and as I don't have the 30k to give to her, only to come back yesterday and saw my boxers burnt in anger. Over 10 boxers? And she's even telling me this is just to warn me against the future and I'm becoming very afraid of her. If I have the money, would I want her not to travel to see her sick mother when i know health issue is a matter of life and death?

Also, she's teaching in a private school and complaining of the school owing salary.

This woman is making me shed tears and becoming afraid of her at the same time. I have never beaten, talk bad or hurt her in anyway and she shouldn't push me.

Now that she has burnt my boxers, who knows what next? I am even afraid of my life.

What should I do?

I recall sometime ago when someone shared a screenshot their credit score that was excellent, I was wondering when I go near like this as I was hovering around the 600s. I am not yet on excellent but ee don waka small.

1. I got AMEX CC (I applied 16th October 2022 and got approved 22 October 2022)
2. I applied for my provisional license on arrival here in the UK ...back and forth with them (filling the forms and submitting my BRP) all too two weeks but for the Royal Post strike, delayed by another two weeks.
3. I got listed on the electoral roll formally December 1 2022 which was the nearest register update period they observe
4. I applied for my NI same day as my provisional license and it was issued 27th October 2022 (I arrived UK 10 October 2022)
5. First transaction recorded on credit file November 2022

I started preparing for this long before I filled out my first application to the university. I followed every thread relating to studying and living in the UK, discussions online relating to how to survive as a student and transition from being one.

On arrival in the UK I needed a bank card to kickstart my activities, my first was Monese and they delivered within 4 days. Next I opened Revolut cos it was a popular option and they too delivered within same period. Monzo had bounced me because of this credit score check and Starling bank stalled (funny enough conventional banks also check when trying to open an account with them). I got all my cards where I was temporarily staying.

During the same period, I enrolled to vote, applied for my provisional driving license (required as proof of address in place of utility bills). Next I applied for my NI and started life. I also opened a conventional bank account during this period.

I stumbled on the AMEX card referral link here and applied, it kept bouncing and requesting for my documents (BRP, Passport and liveliness check). Then one day I got a call and boom it was approved and I got my card delivered.

Along the line I also got bounced by several landlords on the pretence that I don't have credit history and that was when I got the ginger to start Loqbox. I finally secured my student accommodation and contract SIM card which I placed on direct debit and standing order. Then I applied to start reporting my rent using Credit Ladder and Loqbox.

I gained a lot of insight from this thread and the other one for students. I remain grateful to all here and my advise to those new and those thinking of making the move over here to hit road with their financial planning immediately on arrival, no waste time be intentional about your plans. I know a lot of my mates here (and those who came here before me) that haven't registered to be on electoral roll, applied for a provisional license and or start building their credit history because they don't know the process or never thought of it or afraid of anything credit. 😂

Just to add, when I moved I also applied to change my addresses on the drivers license and my bank accounts. It was seamless. I used Royal Mail to redirect my mails from where I previously lived to my new place.

You are currently invisible to all lenders and some financial institutions ...I'm not a financial analyst or adviser but this below are what helped me. I got my CC two weeks on arrival

Question
a. Is your rent paid by bank transfer directly to the landlord's account? If yes, try setting up a standing order to execute same time every month
b. How is your council tax or utility bills paid? Do you have Direct Debit set up on your account to debit it every month? Direct debits are reported to credit bureaus
c. Look for Contract-SIM from any of the mobile networks (I use Virgin mobile) and port your current line to them, use direct debit to pay for this monthly. To call home you can use cheap call cards available in Tescos or ASDA etc
d. Have you been registered to be on the UK electoral roll?

Try the following

1. Try and open an online bank account like Monese that report to credit bureau your transactions (sign up with my referral Join Monese and get up to £10 once you start spending! 2. Create a standing order for your monthly rent and other utility bills and use the following to report your rent payment to report the rent payment to credit agencies.

You can report previous payment as currently is if you make the transfer same time monthly. The apps would pick it up from your bank account.

Once again - I'm not a financial analyst or adviser so do your due dilligence before you sign up to any of the platforms I listed above

Why waste tissue if you can wash off immediately with high pressure bathroom water hose or shower head You can also wipe before though or at best take a shower after poo in the mornings

If you are taken aback with using your hands or something spray on diluted bleach on your hands after and wash clean to sanitize it

1. You can't drive on provisional licence without a fully licensed person sitting next to you when driving.

2. As part of the getting full drivers license, you need to first do a theory test and practical test thereafter and if successful in both you will be issued a full dL.

3. On the other hand, if you do a theory test and pass, you need to do the practical test within a 2 years time frame else the theory test result expires and you need to resit it.

4. Your full dL last for 10 years. Renewal is all about ticking boxes and paying the fees except you were indicted and required to do some test. 😂

I know about ITIL, CCNA, A+, N+, and S+. Additionally, I am aware that my first certification should be A+, CCNA, or ITIL, after which I can select either N+ or S+ if I want to specialise in networking or security. I also know that I should learn Excel, SQL, Piton, R, etc. if I want to pursue data analysis. But my concern is that if I start studying for an A+, I won't realise that data analysis would have been a better course of study. I just need a guide from the tech guru in the house, since I think I'll do fine in any of those fields.

Yes you have to show POF for each dependent joining you (excluding your spouse if he's already in the UK). Which of your accounts has the most funds to cover the POF? Best to avoid confusion though but yes you can combine both accounts with a cover letter to explain.
