Lol ...ideally your utilisation rate shouldn't be more than 20-25% of the limit granted you by the CC company for you to remain in good credit score range. What this mean is that if you have a CC limit of £2000, spending all would make you look desperate and too dependent on credit facility for survival. To avoid this, use just 25% of £2000 which is £500 each month and pay back the minimum amount payable. On your part, to avoid matters that touches, try not to spend all of that 25% if you can't afford to pay back monthly the minimum or in the nearest future the entire balance. Always utilise what you would normally pay out of pocket without strain. So assuming you have £40 for a pair of trainers, instead of paying cash or through your debit card, use your CC and pay the £40 back to the CC. This way you are creating for your self, credit history using your CC for purchases. What oga Lexusgs430 was trying to tell you about the hot soup is that ...don't go and start balling at the Dorchester or Marriott hotels when you get a CC of £5000 credit limit you can't afford to pay back timely Na olopa dem go use con carray you. oo Phil46: Haha that's village people pro max |

List your address twice if you have no other one in the UK or if it gives you an option to list an address outside UK, then put in your Nigeria address. Phil46: Amex eligibility checker required additional address for being in the UK for less than 3 years. |

Bolded is wrong dear ...AMEX gives referred persons 8000 avios bonus and the referrer 4000 avios. You accumulate these avios through referrals or purchases made with the card and you can use same to make purchases for free or at a reduced price so its a win-win for all. No one is saying when you registered with our referral link you get awarded Heaven and Earth or are we forcing anyone to get a CC without them asking or needing one BouharryArtikou: Calm. Down. Why do you badly need a credit card? Scroll through the thread. You will see links of comparison sites that allow you to enter your details and check your eligibility. These sites can actually show you the cards that you have been pre-approved for. Apply for one of those pre-approved ones. Then begin the journey. Small small. For now, you may want to ignore people dropping their referral links (I mean, ignore the referral links, not the people). Trust me, those referral links are for their own interests, not yours (in the first instance). |

I tried to check my eligibility on Amex site but it didn't allow me input my Nigerian address. I have been here for 5 months. On the electoral register already but no DD for any expenses yet. |

Life happens whether sane or no sane country. One just have to be prepared instead of living under edge conditions. Even people who have worked for years and gets paid regularly still maintain the need to have contingency funds stashed somewhere, how much more you travelling a long distance to a new place 🤷🏿♀️... It's not an unnecessary distraction to the issue but rather one that those coming behind should take note of. SamReinvented: This right here, is the question. What is being done to the worker is a criminal offence. Either that, or the skilled worker visa is an illegal arrangement from the start.
All the victim blaming that the rest are doing is an unneeded distraction from the issue at hand. No one should be moving from one job to another in a supposedly sane society and be worrying about 6 months contingency plan in case they don’t get paid. Makes zero sense. |

Tochyno1995 ...see below. Have you also checked that your credit score on Experian is not locked to external checks? Your score looks good though. Questiona. Is your rent paid by bank transfer directly to the landlord's account? If yes, try setting up a standing order to execute same time every month b. How is your council tax or utility bills paid? Do you have Direct Debit set up on your account to debit it every month? Direct debits are reported to credit bureaus c. Look for Contract-SIM from any of the mobile networks (I use Virgin mobile) and port your current line to them, use direct debit to pay for this monthly. To call home you can use cheap call cards available in Tescos or ASDA etc d. How long have you been on the electoral roll? Try the following 1. Place the embolden on standing order and use the following to report your rent payment to report the rent payment to credit agencies. 2. Credit Ladder sign up using my referral https://www.creditladder.co.uk/join/4kN2nMj0DmjpABDL), 3. Loqbox (sign up using my link https://www.loqbox.com/en_gb/loqbox-invite?referral_code=SZJ9DXFXHX&referral_channel=link) 4. Sign up for AMEX https://americanexpress.com/en-gb/referral/tEMItOhbvx?XL=MNANS5. Try not to open too many bank accounts (are your accounts online banks or conventional banks) or close any already opened 6. You should sign up to Experian credit score platform and they have a 30 days trial with which you can use to guide and boost your scores You can report previous payment as currently is if you make the transfer same time monthly. The apps would pick it up from your bank account. Dygeasy: the emboldened explains a lot.
You have to show some committment to specific payments consistently and timely. If you can register on Creditladder, try to report your rent monthly. Once you're seen as one who doesn't miss payments, all these approvals will start falling in your laps.

I see nothing wrong in what Justwise said though. I agree with you too that just one month pay is ok to bring as a Skilled worker but as a project management freak, you got to be prepared against any unforeseen circumstances. No harm bringing more than a month's buffer pay after all it remains the person's money. BouharryArtikou: I agree 100% with @Solumtoya that this response is 'Privileged Opinion'. It is possible there is some sense in what Justwise was saying, but the way it was put across is just not wise (my opinion).
Granted, Justwise has done some fantastic work on nairaland but sometines his responses (like this one) is'nt fair. I think Justwise conflated the financial requirements for STUDENTS (Tier-4) with that of workers (Tier-2).
As someone who has worked (as admin) in a firm that issues CoS, I know for a fact that we have the choice of either selecting that we will make maintenance funds available to the worker we are sponsoring, or we could tick NO. In the latter scenario, the worker is responsible for keeping their PoF in a bank for 28 days to show that they have money. There is a reason why the maintenance PoF for WORK visa is different from STUDENT visa. This is because for WORK visa, the worker is expected to be paid (IN FULL) from date of commencement of 'Work' (I put work in " " here becasue onboarding/induction/training is considered as Work.
It makes sense for a student arriving to have some 'buffer' of more than a month (well, that would already have been submitted in PoF anyway). But for a worker, 1 month is enough, as the worker is expected to receive their first salary not more than 1 month of arrival... This is common sense.
References: https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa/how-much-it-costs
The first screenshot is part of the CoS application for a worker where the sponsoring company is agreeing that maintenance funds will be available for the worker. In this screenshot, we ticked YES. It means the worker is not expected to show any PoF. If we ticked NO, then the conditions in the second screenshot must be met by the worker. |

Were you on the electoral register before applying? Registering online does not automatically mean you've been listed. By law, the Electoral Register is updated on the first working day of every month except October and November. How have you been paying your bills? Standing order or cash? You should look at doing direct debit or standing orders if not. Also look at taking a contract-sim only phone deal with your phone network instead of pay as you go. It helps cause they will debit you using direct debit monthly. What bank do you use? Ensure your bank reports your DD to credit score companies. When applying as a student, best you quote a low annual salary amount. Don't go and be quoting £24000 as your income when everyone knows as a student you can't earn up to that due to the 20hr restrictions. Allow sometime (say 3 months) before re-attempting. All the best Tochyno1995: Hi, i've registered on Experian, checked my credit score and it's 757 out of 999 (fair, not even good or excellent).
I'm 6 months in the country as a student but when i applied for the CC today using your referral link, it was denied.
I'm on the electoral register as well but i haven't setup any direct debit yet - i just did that today for my phone bill. I used to pay the monthly bill manually.
Is there anything i can do to fix this- even paypal instalment payment was not approved for me same with Klarna? |

Make I port my question here before e go loss..
Elders, please advise on the below. Is 6months to expiry date rule strict?
My passport expires April 2024.
I just paid and booked passport appointment at Nigeria House London for July 2023.
What happens to the 6 month to expiry before renewal rule?
Will I be turned back and refunded? Or everything go as normal?
Thanks in advance |

Well not all women are after money but majority of our girls are doing this dating thing for survival.
Relationship has to be transactional or she moves. The earlier you realize all the sweet name calling and things she's been doing for you is cos you have money to give her the earlier you will know how to stand.
I always see every lady as someone who doesn't love me for me but for my assets, until she proves otherwise. It has saved me a lot. This lady I just talked about is another point of reference.
You can also try it with the girl you are seeing now and see for yourself if you doubt me. |
