I thought as much too. Most probably change the doors. I wish there was something easier than changing doors. I have to breakout the door frames and all.
Kai cry
I'm guessing the door was mounted wrongly into position.

You need someone with patience to observe the below.......
1)Kindly try closing the door and check for either upward or downward shift of the door leaf.
2)Also check if the door when pressed on will fit well on the down frame.
3)Also check when the door is closed and when locked with a key if it locks perfectly or something restrains it.

I don't want to settle for one. But if any two of the above is so then you need to remove the door and re-mount properly and dress with mortar.

Otherwise getting a new door will be the next best option.

Firstly thanks so much Bixton, and for everyone of you helping me to find a solution. I will answer all your questions one after the other...

From what I was told and video that was sent to me, cos I have not been there to see the extent of what happened. Water actually come through through the base of the door It has nothing to do with the walls. You could literally see the water enter through the base of the door. I also noticed the door wasn't properly closed , all this China doors for exterior doors can be a nightmare.

So Bixton, it is not a case of water coming from the ground underneath the tiles, it is actually heavy rain, with immense wind forcing rain water into that region and causing water to enter that apartment through the base of the door frame.

Something important to note is that the base, floor is almost same level as the door, just the base of the door frame that helps elevates the door by few inches.

If you see from the picture, the base of that door frame is suppose to help but it's not. And that doors looks like it's just completely an open spree!

My surprise is even with the balcony(the shade), water still finds its way into the area...I am more than shocked.
Bold 1&2.
If the base of the door does not fit in completely when closed one has to know if the door is bad which means it has to be changed completely or maybe due to wrong installation by the person who hanged and dressed the door.

My able and trusted professionals,

The recent rain that fell delt me a big blow. Water was entering into the main sitting room and the kitchen through the door of the ground floor apartment. Please how do I tackle this?. I have attached the picture of the house for you to have an idea of what I am saying.

Someone suggested a danpalon, please are there other ways I can prevent water ingress. I know the rain was very heavy but with all the shootouts I still can't understand how the water found its way into the house.

Please I need your help urgently. Abeg una
Apologies for the issue at hand....

Just a couple of questions.......asked/mentioned by others.....

Point A
1) Is it possible that the water seepage is going through the base of the door?
2) What's the base level of the door if it has a frame to the corresponding level of the other floor that's has been tiled?

Point B
1)Is the water passing through the window probably because it's open during high rainfall?

Generally......

1) Is the water seepage most likely through the outer wall gaining entrance into the building. If that's the case is there a water settlement on the interior wall of same side?
2) Is there any signs of water on the floor(s) internally due to rising water beneath your already installed floor tiles?

I can tell you this is where “baba Lati” regular bricklayer / non building constructor/professionals guys usually get it wrong.

- from the pics the foundation is too low.
- tiling non technics allow the water to flow in
- Rising dampness ..... capillary action ( failure of dpm, or dpc or non of these done at the beginning)

I have solutions to any of these issue ( if you care)
It’s not something you can do through google or explanation here.

Site investigation is needed before someone can conclude the right solution to the problems
Maybe you should have asked him more questions if his explanation was not clearly understood how the water got into the areas mentioned.....

Questions like......

1)If the water was coming from under the floor as a result of capillary action(rise in water beneath the floor)..........

2) If it was most likely caused as a result of the non slopped nature of the tiling job done not allowing water to flow outwards from the house rather than rather inwards to the house......

If I'm not mistaken the water in the areas mentioned is caused by rain water due to wind action.

There should be drainage (gutter) at the front of the house, the side that has the road. Therefore, the construction of the compound's floor should hav been done in a way that it will slope towards the drainage.
Note:
There are so many ways to drain water.

Na for portharcourt this kind thing dey happen, no gutter for road, them no get drainages at all.
You do not need to generalize about no drainage in Port Harcourt. You can mention the areas where such is if they are within urban areas or villages uplifted to be towns. grin ; grin

It's most likely the OPs issue is most likely as a result of wind action during rainfall.
If it goes through his window then the windows needs to be closed whenever it rains or when no one will be around in the house.
If the rain comes through the door beneath then he needs to put a wooden frame or do some sort of coverage in front of the door to prevent rain water seepage through that section.

Old buildings will, as a matter of course, be brought down and replaced by newer, taller, stronger ones.

Government wouldn't need to lift so.much as a finger. A prosperous people change their environment to match their status.

In Nigeria, buildings are demolished to avoid collapse, not because an enterprising soul with resources has seen the potential of that location and bought it for better development.
There are 2 reasons why old buildings are demolished....

1) When it is unsafe for human occupation.
2) When a new master plan is made within that area and the area where the building is when demolished and rebuilt will add value to the economy of that area or government.

That's how it's been done in climes where people who know the true value of money.

If only we had allowed GEJ's attempt at full subsidy removal in 2012 to stand!

Today, we would have completely forgotten about subsidy, government would have had more money, the Naira would have remained at 168 or less against the dollar, modular refineries would have sprung up all over the place, pump price may have dropped to less than NGN100, massive job creation would have happened etc etc

Unfortunately, some irredeemably dummb Nigerians forced GEJ to change his policy.

And the spineless GEJ too gave in!!

Now, deregulation would have to happen under Buhari and it's going to be more painful.

When GEJ removed subsidy, the pump price became N141. Crude oil price in the world market was around USD100. It could not get worse.

If Buhari removes subsidy, the pump price will become N216. Crude oil price in world market is around USD70. It may get worse.

So you see, Nigerians have been pennywise pound foolish... angry
The Nigerian Government does not have any legitimate claim to deregulate the price or the petroleum sector when they can't create an enabling environment or even put in check market forces of such.
All they try to do is put up some shady half concocted statement to bamboozle people.
Since 1999 till date the nation's refinery cannot refine her crude oil to meet demands.
Since 1999 till date the nation cannot build new refineries.
Since the Nigerian government has failed why can't they allow those boys who are into illegal bunkering in the bushes to put up modular refineries within acceptable conditions and policies guiding them to meet demands in their regions!!!!!

China buys crude oil and refines it to meet her demands for economic growth. What have we learnt from them all these years!!!!

What's the land mass of the UAE compared to the that of Nigeria and her fictitious population statistics. What have we also learnt from such the UAE system.

Before the fall of Libya, how was the petroleum sector there.....what have we learnt also from there.....

Why can't we do what is typical to our environment that will solve the peculiar issues we have rather than doing what bring more hardship on the masses.

Oga, laws are meant for the people and not the people for the law. Sometimes, in making laws we balance the harm vs benefit. In the the case of housing in Nigeria as a whole, we have a problem that outweighs any draconian law and this is in most communities. That problem is the shortage of livable (not even affordale ) housing. Common sense and discretion should be applied, so that we don't throw the baby away with the bath water. Wisdom means we cannot pull down a one bedroom apartment of a widow because she did not follow building codes and could not use the service of professionals. The argument might be in favour of safety and standard but my grandmother has been living in her house which was built before the war till date.

We will get to that point you envisaged when government start providing free or affordable housing for the citizens who cannot afford a standard house of their own. In contries where we copy these law, at least that is the first thing they have in place, that way nobody would have any excuse to build an undesirable house.
Secondly, where is the data that shows that there is an urget problem. That poorly contrusted houses are killing or causing saftey issues for Nigerian?
What is the average household income of most Nigerians and compare that to the cost of building a standard family house (2-3 bedroom)?

Just this morning, I was wondering if she's worked up to a month so I asked and she said yes then I asked if they owe salaries and she said she had been paid long ago. I have been doing everything including giving her transport and feeding and all that for her. I was so angry because the least she could have done was to tell me about it.

Now, I am confused and angry. I don't know what to do. Please I need sincere and matured advise.

Why do you think she did that and what should I do?

True, unfortunately, even though those lies seem to carry their own power, cause many of those who hear them seem to interprete everything they read through the same filters the lies were served them.

I know so many so-called Christians who no longer believe the teachings of Jesus Christ mean anything today. To them, the meaning disappeared when Jesus Christ went to the cross, and so they do not obey His teaching because according to them, they are covered by what they call faith and righteousness and hence no longer necessary for them to heed and obey the teachings of the one who they suppose as their Master.
It boggles my mind just thinking about how it is they came to such a conclusion of Jesus Christ and His teachings(the very New Covenant agreement between each one who believes and God). undecided

I have been taking care of my mother since before I got married, I have other brothers older and younger but they are not financially buoyant. (So they claimed) I did not mind this but kept on caring for her ( house rent, feeding, other bills).

Although it's a burden to me, but she is my mother. Now my wife suggest that any money I want to give to her should pass through her (I will send to my wife then she sends to my mother) or she does the sending and I later pay her back.

Her claim is my mother is fetish with my money. I'm confused can this be true? Sometimes my mother will make simple money request my wife would say I should ignore her. She says she is taking me for a fool. I am beginning to get tired of this whole thing. Please help with advice or opinions.

Thanks.
Your mum brought you into this world. You do not need someone to tell you who or what she is.

You should also know who and what manner of woman you got married to.

If you're still curious then you just have to go to God in prayer/fasting and let Him alone clear your doubts. You do not need to let your wife or mother even know what you're doing.

As a man never pass money through your wife to your mum, siblings or friends. Give what you know your can let go of.

If you have not been observant of happenings in your house and environment now is the time you need to.

A human being? undecided
I understand what you are attempting to say but isn't a lie still just that... a lie... i.e. not the Truth?
Do you know why Jesus Christ had His disciples train under Him for at least 3 and a half years? undecided
I believe it is so they are truly grounded in the truth of His teaching. That way, His teaching is written clearly on the tablets of their hearts, even though He also provided for His Spirit to remind them of all the same Truths.

When a preacher goes out, teachings in error, what he does is introduce lies(even if done in error) in the minds of those whom he encounters -instead of the Truth of God. If upon realizing his error, he is not able to go back to the very same to correct his mistake, or those lies have already been transmitted to others, those are souls that may never have a chance to learn the Truth because what was planted instead was a lie.

That is why Jesus Christ warned, not just against false teachers and prophets who will come in His name to teach lies, but also against blind teachers who will also end up

There are so many of your mega-church pastors out there, even there in Nigeria, whose mouths are filled with nothing but lies. Many of them don't even know the Truth of Jesus Christ but have been preaching those lies for many decades and so many millions have grown and raised their children on those lies. Now, someone might argue that those Pastors tell those "lies" in error, but they are lies nonetheless, and many of those who have been "nurtured" by those lies for most of their lives have become addicted to the lies, so blind that it is hard to get them to consider the possibility of the Truth of God.

Now, God is not going to change His Truth in order to accommodate those who were misled by these blind teachers and their followers who run in the 10's of millions. The Truth has been available for each and everyone to glean for the past 2000 years, so there are no excuses for these blind leaders and their blind followers. Now, consider what their end will be for those the Truth does not reach before it is too late? lipsrsealed

It would be better for one to shut his mouth completely than to spread a lie in the name of God, even if done in error, don't you think? undecided
Those who teach lies have their reward already prepared for them before they were born.

I'm sure you understand the verse below.

Jas.3.1 - My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
Jas.3.2 - For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

If the Bereans could go back to study their Bible to seek the truth even when the early disciples/apostles were preaching to them,
then nothing stops anyone from doing same in this present age.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Necessary For A Preacher To Ask Members Of Audience How His Message Was? by bixton(m): 8:52pm On Mar 11, 2021
Kobojunkie:
What do you mean by teaching "in error"?

Jesus Christ, the Truth of God taught us exactly what we need to teach others... His teachings are what He called the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven -the Truth of God. When we go off, spinning our own teachings which we eventually attempt to append to the teachings of the New Covenant, Jesus Christ, what we teach then are lies, according to Jesus Christ Himself. Read Mark 7 to find where Jesus Christ warns against this teaching of doctrines and traditions/rules of men, which are in fact lies, as if we are teachings belong to God.
I asked again.......what are you?

Now there's a difference between erroneous teachings and telling lies.

Erroneous teachings comes where the preacher does not clearly understand that which he is quoting and trying to explain. Those who fall in this category will correct themselves sometime in future as they continue in the work.

Lies is 2 ways. Those who deliberately twist God's word to outright gullible listeners while the order is preaching the doctrine of men as the word of God.

Anyone who submits to the leading of the Spirit of God, as Jesus Christ commanded, would not teach lies... the Spirit of Truth cannot teach lies.

Truly the house is broke. Just go back to your village. More funds does not lead to efficient legislation and legislative duties. It's like a student complainig that he did not get good grades because he did not eat enough when going to school.
The people who needs money to run an efficient life are the low cadre civil servants not your likes.
