PoliticsInsecurity Hindering Data Collection For Surveys - NBS by Blue3k(op): 3:02am On Oct 02, 2022
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says insecurity is hindering its efforts towards providing data for public consumption when it involves field surveys.

The Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of NBS, Adeyemi Adeniran, said this in Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Thursday at the annual conference of the National Statistical Association.

sHe said the NBS had faced several cases of attacks on the field staff and theft of survey equipment.

He said this was increasing numbers of inaccessible areas in parts of the country where enumerators are not able to go in for data collection.

"As an example, under a school-based exercise recently undertaken by NBS, head teachers and facilitators had to leave their communities and meet up with enumerators at the headquarters of the local government for interviews to be conducted, because those communities were unsafe to visit.

"While this could be done for a school-based exercise, it'll be impractical to do under a household-based or establishment-based survey.

"All these disruptions to field operations, when carefully considered, can result in significant additional costs to the budget, and heavily impact on the lean finances within the system. So, in direct terms, you are looking at the safety of lives and equipment, disruptions to the field processes which have significant financial implications and possible data quality issues, if not properly checked."

Chairman, National Population Commission, Nasir Isah Kwarra, admitted that insecurity might have limited impact on the outcome of the 2023 census.

He said the commission was working with security agencies and traditional rulers to ensure a smooth run of the exercise.

Even if Ukraine accepted the autonomy of the Donbas region in 2014, Putin would still want more.

My argument was simply that with Putin disgraced, he should save face by reaching an agreement with the Ukrainians for some level of autonomy.
You just Stated Ukraine rejected the autonomy for those regions. Maybe they would knowing they will lose it anyway.

If Putin has a brain, he should reach a deal for some limited autonomy for Donbas. Unfortunately, it's seems Ukraine is trying to reclaim Crimea, so I see no deal any time soon.

The poor Russians
I disagree on Geopolitical stances. Why do you keep ignoring the fact Ukraine could have reached a deal with Donbass and Russia before they decided to go the secession route in 2014? Is it Putin's fault they went to war with the break away regions and they rejected the autonomy you're preaching here in Minsk 2 agreement? Mind you russia was asking for too much. They're Break away Republics now until they're annexed so Ukraine just takes that loss.

lol what if they late on paying their workers because their customer the government is late on paying them? I never like the fact Nigeria has a minimums wage they never enforced. The state and local governments should be forced to choose between firing staff or Increasing taxes.

Who are you speaking for? There's a constitutional process for areas of the state to secede and join another state if they wish to. Its much easier than creating a new state created.

so what? If the state didn't monopolize mineral and land resources to itself the companies would have to pay the land owners royalties directly. Who cares needs welfare if the populace is productive. The state would just find new means of funding itself.

Ngige should not also berate other states that have not implemented the ₦30,000 minimum. The American system where each state decide their minimum wage is the way to go. It would be ridiculous to expect ₦30k in Lagos and Bornu carry the same value. Also, state purses are also different.
Just to correct this small detail. There's a nationwide minimum wage in America as well. its 7.25 per hour. States regularly make laws going above that exceptions are for restaurants. They should either get rid of minimum wage laws since they have no interest in enforcement or keep it to a reasonable amount by law. state can pay if they want to tax populace more or fire workers but they have no interest in doing either.

Just a side opinion no adult should be worried another minimum wage. get skills or a job that beats its especially if you have a family to take care of. Minimum wage covers even the kid looking for his first entry job when the 16 (or whatever age you're allowed to work for anyone besides your family).

Speaking on the law to prohibit the curtailment of women’s right to share in family property law, Governor Wike expressed displeasure at how most cultures, particularly in Rivers State, do not encourage what engenders growth among the people.
Lol there was a law preventing woman from inheriting? The law will only work if the person Is too lazy to write a will. What prevents some from just stating in their will they want their male children to inherit exclusively. Anyway we'd have to see how the law is written to see if they force individuals to pass their property to certain individuals.

Lol what a mumu. Are we responsible for the actions of 3rd parties. Weirdos want people to apologize for the crimes of their ancestors. By this foolish logic if he's is in debt the creditor should be able to collect from his children and grand children. Since he believes in generational sin his daughter will need to apologize for all his wrongs.

That has nothing to do with tolerance. The landlady could have been a torn on his flesh. That she isn't able to recover her rent does not translate to be tolerable.

A times I wonder how some people reason.
This why I dont believe the story. Its doubtful it would take 7 years to try an eviction case. Lastly court ruling are public record if it happened anyone can post the documents online to be read. The landlady can do it just to show he's a bum.
PoliticsRe: Charly Boy Accused Of Owing Landlady 7 Years Rent by Blue3k(m):
FreeStuffsNG:
I am not sure that you understand the hypocrisy in Pa Charly boy's tweet. He was so well tolerated yet never still appreciated his Yoruba hosts. He owed 7 years rent not because he was poor but he punished his Yoruba landlord who later died heartbroken.

I was not his neighbour but remembered reading about it in the newspapers then when the property owner went through hell to evict him and how I was shocked that despite how the place use to be a buzz of commercial activities Charly Boy was not paying rents year to year for 7 long years! Will he do that to his landlord if the poor woman is Igbo?
The only thing this story (assuming its real) proves to me is the eviction laws are stacked against the landlord. It shouldn't be very difficult to kick a bum out. Property rights and contracts don't mean anything if the tenant can break it at will.

PS: PSA court records are public record. If you guys are interested in the facts go to the court house and request the paperwork. Post it online and prove it happened.

In that case, parents and students should show interest in the said agreement because power corrupt, absolute power corrupt absolutely
If they're not already interested in the services they're paying for that's an issue. ASUU and the FG don't care too much about students or parents because they're aren't paying for much. Remember he who pays the piper calls the tune. If you're worried about unbearable cost dont worry simply allow market competition to take over by approving more schools or students will take up different occupations.

PoliticsEDO: Any Child Not In School To Be Arrested; Parents, Guardians To Be Tried by Blue3k(op):
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has disclosed that the government will start the arrest and prosecution of parents and guardians of out-of-school children from the next academic session beginning on Monday, September 12, 2022.

The governor spoke to journalists in Benin on Monday ahead of schools’ resumption, adding that machinery had been put in place for the enforcement.

He said the government had partnered with the state’s judiciary to set up special courts designed for the prosecution of perpetrators of sexual and physical abuses against children in schools across the state.

He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to guaranteeing the care, protection and wellbeing of every citizen in the state.

Obaseki noted: “If we find any child under the age of 18 years being used for manual labour, such parents will be prosecuted. We thank the Chief Judge for providing special courts which will be used to prosecute any offender who perpetrates violence against any child or involves in sexual defilement or physical abuse in our school system.

From September 12, when school resumes, any child found loitering or hawking during school hours will be arrested and the parents or guardians will be prosecuted and seriously dealt with. We have specially trained people to observe and watch over our children to ensure no child is abused in Edo State.

“School resumes on Monday, September 12, 2022 and teaching must commence the same day. I will send out a special squad to monitor schools across the state; I will also monitor the schools myself, alongside with the Commissioner of Education”

Obaseki also said that his administration would work towards the building of dilapidated schools in the state, stressing conducive learning environment for learners.

“We will emphasize the environment our children learn as we need to secure the environment where our children learn. We will be spending a lot of resources to ensure no child seats on the ground to learn. By the time the Commissioner of Education will be completing her term, no Edo child should sit on the ground to learn”, he added.
