Politics › Re: Nigerian Banks Cheated Customers By N6bn In 2012- Sanusi by Boss13:
ochukoccna: I'm sure you are one of this scamming banksters he's talking about
So that he alerted us to the rip offs in the name of banking is now a sin huh
Any person who banks in Nigeria knows that there are too many bogus charges and opaque transparency regarding rates, benefits, hidden charges etc
I guess you don't understand my write-up. Sanusi should be aware of the games banks are involved in. He was CEO of FirstBank. Because you are CBN governor doesn't change a thing. Chief, banks in Nigeria have erroreously made a mistake by posting unbelieveable profits. Profits I term - Blue Sky Profits- all in the name to impress shareholders and a makeshift perception of being a strong bank.
Sanusi should be correcting the errors and not singing to the media like a pop star.
We don't operate banking in Nigeria. Go and ask a real banker. Banks take money from deposits and flip it via inter-bank for margins (that's how they make most of their income). They rarely borrow nor finance projects. If they do, many are syndications. Then comes the hidden charges. Sanusi is aware of all these practices. Now ask him what sanctions are in place to curb this financial menace. That man -sanusi- has caused more harm to the economy than good.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Banks Cheated Customers By N6bn In 2012- Sanusi by Boss13: 7:44am On Apr 12, 2013
Sanusi, you seem to forget all too soon that you were part of the banking system and also your top priority job is to boost confidence in the banking system.
Your utterances sometimes, sanusi, makes me question your ability to lead. Fyi your recent and previous acts are scaring customers and potential investors away from the Nigerian banking industry. Customers are transferring their monies offshore. Honestly, I do not say there are no irregularities in the system - they are. However, don't be too quick to rush to the media. You are reporting yourself this man.
It is only in Nigeria that banks post huge profits and no significant improvement in the economy. That alone is a huge indicator that something fishy is going on and that is the no 1 headache you need to cure.
Sanusi, please learn from history. "You talk too much".
Nairaland General › Re: What Manner Of Man Is Ikenna, Politics Section New Mod? by Boss13: 12:35pm On Apr 11, 2013
Seun thk you for listening. I think the new mod is lenient. I previously enjoyed the topic posted on this forum and how I unconsciously do not read newspapers online anymore. However, a new disease crept in and started spreading. That disease is ethnic insults, e-insult to one's opinion etc. I think 7days is too lenient for some people who have no respect for country, tribe, man and God. They should be ban for life. Only God knows their motive, maybe to destroy this community of learned member.

Seun you can assist ikenna by laying down the rules and spelling it out clearly for all to see. Thank you again.

God save Nigeria!

@OP I will advise u as an elder bro n a professional in this cat n mouse race called relationship.
That gal is 18yrs, 8yrs younger than you n way off your league. She luvs her bf terribly mayb cos he's d first to eat out of d cookie jar n d 1st to win her luv. To her ur a big uncle to cry to n complain of loneliness.

ADVICE - don't b a fall guy. You need to give her some space, huge space or else you will break your heart - especially when d bf finds out that anoda lion is entering into d territory n he begins to perform his bf duties.
When she gets more matured n surely she will, she might come to you. But honestly if I were you, I would go play with chics on d same mental plane.

Are you sure he is your real dad? From what you are saying I think you need to ask him. No father behaves the way your dad is behaving especially when the child is responsible.
Business › Re: GTB Freezes My Account For False Loan by Boss13: 4:46pm On Apr 04, 2013
As a banker, though not a GTBank employee, I find this story unbelievable. I want to decipher the story. The OP claims to have worked in a bank. These days there is Internet banking with transaction history where you can trace all your previous transactions without you walking into the bank and requesting for a bank statement. The nomenclature the OP uses makes me wonder if he worked in a bank. No bank freezes an account except with directive from prosecuting authorities. To freeze an account is to block all debits and credit entries. I think what was done was that a post no debit entry was placed on the account. The account has been termed to be fraudulent. Also, as a previous banker you should have seen the red flag when they tell you that a loan was advance to you via your savings account. Which bank advances loans to savings account? Oga if an erroneous credit was passed into your account and you have withdrawn it. You will have to pay for it. However, it is extremely sad that you were not informed about this. That is the reason why you should check your transaction history more often via Internet banking and you can still do this yourself. Also, which bank links a domicillairy account to a savings account? Please pardon me, my knowledge of the banking industry is making me not believe your story a bit not that I don't believe.

You do not need to go to court because the cost will outweigh the benefit. Visit their investigation unit and inform them about your issue, that is if your story is true. However, you should have done your own investigation. If you cannot get your transaction history for the aforementioned dates. Visit the closest branch to you and request for it. They will print it. Do your reconciliation, then visit the investigation unit and have a meeting with them (you must have done a formal letter first like 2 weeks before the meeting). I believe a conclusion would be reached during the meeting. If your problem isn't resolved properly, write a letter to the managing director. Express the pains you have been subjected to as a result of you not been able to operate your account.

Also, I have heard of some funny fraudulent stories been perpetrated in GTBank. Well, it is the same with all Nigerian banks. Please do not leave your account dormant. In the case you have no need to operate an account, move all funds to the bank of your choice. Dormant account are targeted by fraudsters because they believe the owner do not need the funds anymore or the owner might be dead. Always check your transaction history, all banks in this country offer this services free of charge. The moment you see a debit entry you are not comfortable with, call your account officer for explanation. Also do the same for credit entries else you would be facing the same problems with the poster. An internal staff might have done that deliberately so that he/she can withdraw the fund later. Please don't eat monies that doesn't belong to you.

freecocoa: This here is why I still maintain that you are a judgmental dunce(excuse me on that) but you are talking as if you know me on a personal level, just why would you assume that I won't sleep with him on the first date for fear of him not calling back? What do you know about my 5exual orientation? Do you know if I don't even want him to call back and that's why I won't sleep with him? Do you know if the thing between my leg can accommodate his rod? Do you know if we like the same things as regards 5ex? Just what do you know to make you conclude its all about the fear of losing him?

Again my friend, don't always assume you know what the next person is thinking, it might just be 5ex for you but for the next person its not.
Did I hit an emotional vein. Ouch!!! That must hurt. Your response reminds me of Nigerian soldiers during the civil war, shooting randomly at innocent babies. Please don't act like a sex expert, coming on a faceless forum to brag. Between the two of us, we know the truth. You know you feel relieved when he calls or comes visiting again. You know the thing between your legs can accommodate any rod especially when your feelings are strong for the individual concerned. You know just as much as you enjoy s.ex, the fear of rejection does not allow you to engage in the beautiful sport. That fear eating you up, that same fear making you enrol for a crash course with the MI5 or CIA. That same fear, even when he looks into your eyes and you are wet down south, you still brush off the advances despite nature's call. You know and we all know.

freecocoa: If you understand english you'd realize that I never said I or ladies trade 5ex for the ring.

I talked on a personal level when I said I'd rather wait, do you even know what I'd love to know about whoever it is I want to sleep with? Abeg carry your judgmental self shift.
Then my comment was directly at you. You can wait for all you care, it doesn't remove the fear and insecurities you still feel. The guilty conscience that haunts you when you do it and you pray he calls you back. The dependence you feel in your heart longing for a man. The amateur detective skills you utilize to fish out if he is for real. Gal emancipate yourself from the emotional sentiment attached to s.ex. A man doesn't attach emotions to the stuff in between your legs.
If only you knew how guys really think!!

I have a friend whose specialty is women who play hard to get!! He looks at them like a project.
I know other guys who have been involved in relationships where s`ex was not a big deal and they ended up marrying the girls.
Some of you say the men would call you cheap!! lol! You can only be called cheap if you placed a price on your vag!na. Its sex for crying out loud. If he brags to others that he f`ucked you, tell them that you also f`ucked him. #PERIOD!!

Its all about a person sha!! A girl is not cheap because she sleeps with a man, she is only cheap when she uses her p`ussy as a tool to catch a man.

freecocoa: Its about you and want you want.

5ex doesn't guarantee anything, you could give it up on the first day and end up getting the ring, you can wait months or even years and still get dumped.

Although for me its not just 5ex as some people see it to be, so I'd rather wait a while to atleast know certain things about who you want to sleep with(though people pretend but still), inshort there are no guarantees in life so na God go help us.
I guess our ladies na trade sex as a means of getting hooked up to marriage (smh). If you like join the police and become a detective so that you can know everything in man. If you love sex enjoy it and don't be sentimental about it.

Popowaa: U can do it if u want but some ill mannered men will use it against u when the relationship moves to a diff level and it can can be some trust issues too.
Feminine insecurity. The world is changing and men are loving confident women and not insecured ones. I was with a lady yesternite - very hawt and sexy and she is so confident. She smokes too (something naija men will term as being wayward) and when she pull up her cigarette, the guys at the table struggle to lit it up for her. I termed that as being classy cos she knows what and how to do it. Plus she is a professional and earning good pay.

Ladies be empowered no man would talk trash about sleeping with you on the first day and call you a LovePeddler. Matter of fact you are doing him a favour by sleeping with him and also enjoying yourself.

Tired of the insecurities I see with Nigerian women. So old school.

That's the work of civil societies to pressurize the government to do something about corruption. The only time we hear we have civil societies is when the government increases or plans to increase fuel price. Also I sometimes believe the word corruption is wrongly used by we Nigerians. Corruption to the average Nigerian is the act of stealing public funds by public office holders. This implies that other forms of corruptions are normal to practice. Hence, we need to address what kind of corruption government should address - public office corruption, private office corruption, bribes or wet the pocket corruption, nepotism/favoritism corruption, political corruption a.k.a godfatherism e.t.c. Else we will have to live long with corruption or as well legalize it.

shymexx: Bro, I didn't start the name-calling today, they started it... I was just trying to discuss the topic and get some education why every Nigerian must celebrate the man... And it seems no one has been able to answer that...

It's not just Africans - it's the entire black race... We're where we're today because of lack of real heroes and great role models... The MLKs, Malcolm-X, W.E.B Dubois, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba et al of the past died years ago... However, we're not in the 60s and 70s aymore - we need new real role models and heroes, who would lead by example... and those who would defuse tribal frictions, and not exacerbate them...

I'll like to have a conversation with you as well.. but I need to quickly go pick up something from my parent's house... You can post your comments, I'll reply in 3-4 hrs time, when I get back.. wink
Ok great. I agree with you. I cannot speak for all black people though we share similar problems. I want to talk about the nigerian youth and how to awaken our neglected conciousness.

I appreciate the fact that you carry out community services. In your own bit you are contributing. Soyinka started from the university to raise the awareness of black man. He started as a youth.

Now we have a new kind of enemy and our enemy lives in us. Our enemy is our value system. A system of materialism, selfishness, pride, loathe, greed etc. This value system has given rise to corruption, theft, tribalism/nepotism etc. Previously, I would have said our enemy is our public leaders. But our public leaders were once private citizens. At even some point, many of them critized the govt during their time of the same ill effects we are currently experiencing. So our enemy is not our public leaders.

Shymexx what do you think?

shymexx: Is this guy feigning ignorance, or just innately dumb?? How did he contribute "intellectually" and "culturally" based on a literary fiction?? More reason why I said the standard in Nigeria is subpar... I bet in your stupid mind, Harry Potter also contributed/contributes "intellectually" and "culturally" to the UK, nohuh

Do you even understand the meaning of intellect and culture?? undecided undecided
Shymexx hi. I don't know why you are ranting but I read your comment on the need for real heroes. Can we communicate in a civilize way on this forum please. Maybe our conversation may stir up the minds of people on how to contribute more to the african race.

Let's forget about achebe this or achebe that. Would you want to have a decent conversation?

Please drop this. His personal life did not affect the love shown to him. I still love that man. My perception will never change. He is larger than life. Fela - an african icon.

Please stop the hating. We need to emulate great characters. Our generation have abandoned principles, integrity and collective progress for the love of materialism fuelled with greed and selfishness. Add tribalism to the mix, we have a time bomb waiting to explode. Please can we just show some love to one another.
I am not tribalistic but I will not let Yoruba people with inbred tribalism paint Achebe in bad light before the international community at this time of his death where his information is being searched worldwide. That is what they hope to do. I advice you to be cautious while showing sympathy to the yorubas, they hate you and will backstab you at any given opportunity.
FACT - Achebe is an icon, a hero, a great statesman, a world class citizen. He sits before kings and world leaders. He is respected home and abroad. This cannot change. It is only an ignorant person that will try to say stupids things.

MY HUMBLE ADVICE - You cannot fight
Achebe's battle. We are too small for that. Sheathe your sword brother and promote love. Love your enemies and with time they would be forced to change their perception about you. So forget this and use your emotions to benefit yourself and mankind

alj harem: Any educated non-baised person would understand the QUESTION HERE AND THE ANSWER I AM GETTING

Question

What did Achebe do to improve/advocate to better the life of an average Nigerian

Answer by Igbos bigots

He was an Icon, He wrote so and so book, he brought African/Nigerian Igbo culture to the international literature world, his book is translated to 1200000 languages etc

Has this answered the question I asked or the OP answered ? If indeed we have sensible people who are defending this man know what a direct question and direct answer is.

Look all, I did not see the doors of a university but if indeed this is what University education entails then it is good as I can see lots of wasted investments grin

Simple direct question, to answer it is difficult.
I previously answered you and I will do so again. For someone like me who did not experience life before the encroachment of the whiteman. Achebe informed me that Africans once had a life, a coordinated way of doing things. Unlike some of the lies and movies told by white men.

Achebe did not build houses, roads or provided free education because he abandoned politics due to the fact that the politicians during his time were thieves and they still are. He contributed to my own development by telling the whole world that Africans had an identity before colonalisation.

Sorry if you are one of the half igbo, half Yoruba confused folks cheesy cheesy
My brother, when you run away from your problem thinking you have solved it. Guess what it is still waiting for you. I cannot deny that I have never been attacked in a tribalistic way by my yoruba brothers. However, I choose my actions carefully and try not to return the same treatment.

Ask yourself why do you think people are tribalistic? Now if you act tribalistic does it make you any better than them but for the poor emotional reasons they choose to act that way.

Distinguish yourself my brother for we live in a wicked world. To also answer your question I am full igbo but protray myself more as a Nigerian because I believe in diversity.
