If you do that, then technically the number belongs to you. Anything that's done with that phone number will be linked back to you, and you'll be held responsible. It should be clear to you that it's NOT a good idea to use your won NIN to register another person's phone number.

9:30 PM really, and ORD is your POE? Most flights from Europe land around the late morning/early afternoon, because of time difference/travel time. Anyway, in that case you can book a hotel around Rosemont/O'Hare area. You probably can't make that 9:50 PM bus, since you'll be clearing immigration/customs. Except if you flight is a bit early.

As someone that works in software, and have contracted at several banks here in the US, we are pretty much automating everything. For example, though we've been accepting auto-deposit of checks for at least 10 years, by taking a picture of it via phone camera, the last bank I worked at, the project involved refining the scanning of the check image, and improving the security features associated with online check deposits.

Digital banking is the future...most of the tasks that used to be done in the banks are now being done via the app. So there is no need for all those cashiers in the banking halls. I have been into the banking hall (including drive-thru) may be 4 times in the last couple of years. And in the hall, there were just about 2-3 cashiers in there. Nigeria will get to that point eventually.

As mentioned fly to Chicago, and then take a bus/shuttle to Milwaukee. The distance from Chicago downtown to Milwaukee is only 95 miles. Will even be shorter from ORD. Flight time itself is less than 30 mins. Almost no point flying.

You can get a SIM card at any kiosk, but you have to register it to activate it. And you need National Identification Number (NIN) for that. Probably best to find an already registered sim from someone that can loan it to you during your stay.

I believe there is a glitch in the linking on the NIMC side. It’s obvious that a lot of lines that were linked still got blocked. The linking itself is not automated. So the telcos still have to send the NINs over to NIMC for manual verification. And there is likely a backlog there in sending a confirmation back to the telcos. The “successful” message that’s received is just an indication of successful submission on the telco’s side. And not an actual successful verification, which is a manual step. Bottom line - the systems do not interface with each other. And the manual step involved with the verification is causing a lot if submitted (not verified by NIMC yet) lines to be disconnected.

Very true. Everything revolves around on-demand tv and movies these days. So you just stream what you want, as long as you have data.

The names or DOB on your application does not match what NIN has. They have to match.

Do not pay anyone a dime to teach you programming! Google about programming. And you can also read this thread to get an idea on what path others in a similar situation took. Everything you need is online. There is to fast track to learning programming. It will take a lot of time, and you have to be dedicated.

You will need a laptop. It's just like saying you want to learn finance/accounting without a calculator. At a minimum, you'll need a basic laptop that will allow you to practice what you learn. For programming you'll need a development environment/platform that you will use to write/compile/test whatever you write.

I have used my MiFi with a GLO/MTN sim card in it for Netflix a number of times when I was visiting. Watching netflix on my laptop though. Have not tried it on TV. I had no issues with the connection itself. However, it does zap data of course. Honestly, these streaming services are best enjoyed when data is not an issue.

Ok. Because, there are absolutely no apps for the windows OS. The issue is not Lumia phones themselves, but the OS. Nobody develops apps for it. And Microsoft has discontinued support for it.

I see some people on here faulting this gentle man for making this move - a move to a safer country with better security, a country with constant electricity, a country with functioning amenities, such as water supply. Those three things alone are enough for most people to get out of Nigeria. However, it seems like some are contempt with Nigeria as it is. To me, this is a move in the right direction for OP. Then it should have synchronized to Google cloud. Unless you unchecked the option to backup/synchronize your photos. In that case, they are not recoverable.

O'Hare is not a nasty airport. And it does have the train, called the ATS, to move between the terminals, parking lots, etc. Just like other airports. Though the tram has was shut down for a about 2 be years or so, as it went through renovation and expansion. They were using shuttle busses during this temporary period. Looks like it recently reopened

O'Hare is one nasty airport anyway, I'm not surprised they still use bus to move around the airport.

It will cause problems. DOB and all names on passport and NIN have to match exactly. So it's either you do an NIN data update, or use the DOB on your NIN on your passport.

I believe you have to start another application. However, make sure you have corrected the wrong DOB on your NIN.

You can start with a language such as Java or Python. The key thing is to start writing code as soon as possible. Of course, you will need a laptop with the appropriate development environment setup. However, I'd suggest you get beginners book on any of those two languages, and start reading. Programming can be applied in just about any field. As long as there is a task that needs to be automated.

A more less time and resource consuming route would be to transition BVN to NIN. There are more BVNs than NIN. A simple database transfer would have solved all these problem.

The Advanced countries only have one verification code for very thing important. It's only in Nigeria that we are about having 3 and the 3 aren't interconnected.

Welcome to Chicago. Yes, it's a beautiful city indeed. And actually quite clean for a BIG city. It's also known for its skyscrapers and architecture. I'm actually one if those that take the metra downtown for work. Did that for about 15 years or so. But now it's all remote work. Back in the days before COVID, there would be a whole lot more people than this in the loop. Especially during the week.

Not with Software Engineering oh. You will be tested! They will want to see that you can code and that you have good problems solving skills. This is one field where you actually have to know your stuff. Otherwise, you will not survive in it.
