Did you carefully look at the declaration that he made? He declared fixed, moveable assets and cash within and outside Nigeria. That he publicly declared his assets gives us something to use in assessing him again after 4 years.

See Donald Trump was a billionaire in the US dollars before he became the president. He declared his assets and everyone saw his major source of wealth as estates and properties. Makinde's most noticeable source if income is his engineering company and careful management of funds from his executed contracts.

Here we should ask other political office holders to do the same.

When our president declared his assets in 2015, his networth was about 30million naira. Can we say the same of him today? But in his current asset declaration form he said that nothing changed. Who is deceiving who? Makinde has shown the whole world that he is a billionaire. How many of our political office holders will do the same.

I think we should not chase the shadow leaving the substance. The truth is that corruption has overrun the country. The ones fighting corruption are own their own.corrupt.

Ha oga don't say this publicly abeg. The Urhobos, Itsekiris and Isokos of Delta state say clearly that the Igbos in the state have no relationship with them. How can you say "both of them don't have anything in common"? Please get a bit of history sir. Anioma is Igbo. The language spoken is Igbo. The culture is Igbo and nothing less. The people are Igbo. If you look through history you"ll find that some Anioma towns migrated from across the bridge! For example, some hold it in history that Ogwashi uku and Igbuzor migrated from Nri in Anambra state. You can just check your origins too if you are from any of the Anioma towns. Some were overrun by the Benin kings and made their tributes, eg Agbo and other towns leading up to and including Onitsha. That's why you have their monachs similar to Benin. Some originated from Igala, e.g the Oko people at the niger river area before the bridge, as they claim. All in all they are Igbos.

The truth is that the Igbos as a whole need to put their acts together. This way Anioma state can be created - if it will ever - enabling the Igbos have 6 states.

National leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, has called on Nigerians not allow killings across the country to divide them.

He said this when he paid a condolence visit to the home of the leader of pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, over the killing of her daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin.

Tinubu, while speaking, urged the people not to allow the incident to divide Nigeria, but let it serve as a means to provide solution to security challenges confronting the country.

He said the security challenges like killing, raping and kidnapping should not be blamed on one particular ethnic group, saying “these challenges had been with us for a long time.”

The former governor of Lagos State said: “I am a nationalist and the security concerns and challenges right now must be faced squarely throughout Nigeria.”

While calling on Nigerians not to blame any ethnic group over the happenings in the country, Tinubu said: “I am extremely concerned about security. I don’t want a stigma; I can go through history of kidnapping in Nigeria; we know how and where it all started, there are a lot of copycats.

“For how long have we been battling insecurity in the country? There are cases of kidnapping. Is Evans, who was arrested and made disclosure also a herdsman? I don’t want to be political, but I will ask ‘where are the cows?’

He noted that the security challenges being faced by the country required more police personnel to be recruited, trained and deployed in various locations to fight insecurity across the country.

Speaking on the killing of Olakunrin, he said “this one that affected a member of our family, Mrs Olakunrin, is seriously sad and unacceptable, but nobody can return her alive; she has answered the call of her creator.

“Funke was very close to me and she died prematurely. Only four or five days ago, we chatted and I know what she discussed with me about Baba’s health condition. We just pray that this will not happen again.”

He, however, said: “We must not use this incident to divide us, but must use it as a cure to the security problems. Additional police, additional patrol and additional security reinforcement on the Ore Road and various flashpoints across the country are necessary and I have discussed this among the various authorities. The governor is eminently aware and being proactive about this.

“The security challenges are numerous across this country and to fight them, more police are being recruited and it takes time to train and deploy them in various areas.”

Also, a former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who called at the residence of Pa Fasoranti, described the death pathetic and unfortunate.

He attributed the increase in the cases of kidnapping and killing across the country to the non-prosecution of the offenders, saying kidnapping had evolved into a lingering pervasive security threat and multifaceted criminal enterprise.

Daniel, who called on government at all levels to revisit and address the issue of security in the country, said “ I am particularly worried that our dear and once beautiful country is facing this challenges and the omen is not good at all.”

Speaking on the increase in kidnapping and other criminal activities, he said “it is all about body language, because not many of these criminals or kidnappers are prosecuted or punished and this is not sending the right signal.

“When criminal offences are committed, we expect the government to act swiftly and to be seen to punish the criminals concerned.”

Earlier on Sunday, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on behalf of the Federal Government, had paid a condolence visit to the home of Chief Fasoranti, with an assurance that the Federal Government will deploy all options to put an end to the security challenges in the country.

He described the death of the daughter of the Afenifere leader, Mrs Olakunrin, who was killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Friday, on Benin/Ore Road as a massive tragedy.

Osinbajo, who arrived at the Fasorantis residence at exactly 9.10 a.m., was accompanied by the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu. He said the Federal Government would explore all options, including deploying soldiers on the highways, towards addressing the growing cases of security challenges in Nigeria.”

According to him, the Federal Government IS working towards a workable overhauling of the nation’s security architecture, disclosing that President Muhammadu Buhari had met with all the security chiefs toward restrategising to fight the war against security breaches.

He confirmed that the Inspector-General of Police had also laid out a new policy on community policing to enhance intelligence gathering, and assured Nigerians that the government was committed to providing all logistics to prosecute the fight against criminality.

He appealed to Nigerians to be calm, while assuring that the present administration remains committed to security of lives and property.

“As you know, I am here to commiserate with the families of Olakunrin and Pa Fasoranti.

“This is a massive tragedy as you can imagine. We have seen it replicated here and there, I mean kidnapping and killings.

“As you all know, the president has very recently met, not only the service chiefs, but also the IGP and he has laid out a new policy on the community policing.

“One of the most important things is intelligence gathering; that is why we have the community policing system where policemen would be trained in their own local government areas and would remain there. This is as close as we get to the community policing structure that we expect to have.

“The other thing of course is that we are also engaging the army so that there will be a bit of more military presence, especially on our roads. The Inspector-General of Police has already committed to ensuring that there is full coverage of the police and even helicopters.”

“To fastening the search for these killers and also to ensure that there is adequate presence to deter this kind of terrible situation from recurring. We are looking at the whole security architecture and trying to ensure that we are able to scale up and ensure that we are able to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians.

“Security in a big county like Nigeria as you can imagine has challenges that are dynamic and we also have to be consistently dynamic to ensure that we are able to beat the challenges as they appear.

“I think we can be very hopeful that we would see peace and calm as some of the steps we are taking come to fruition. You know also that we met with the governors in the South-West and in the different zones, and everybody is coming to ensure that security is adequate and everyone feels safe and secure,” he said.­­­­­

Elder statesman, Tanko Yakasai, on Monday criticized former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, describing his open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari as selfish and unpatriotic, the Nation reports.

Reacting to Obasanjo’s letter to Buhari dated July 15, Yakasai said: “I don’t see patriotism in General Obasanjo’s letters.

“In fact, all the letters written by General Obasanjo to all Military Heads of State and Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are not guided by patriotic considerations.”

According to him, “My experience with Nigerian political situation is that the top echelons of the Military are always fighting one another, either when in the service or when on retirement.

“It is from this angle that I always view most of the writings of General Olusegun Obasanjo to any military officer who is a Head of State or President in Nigeria as unpatriotic.

“Even the ones he wrote to former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and the late Umar Musa Yar’Adua were not patriotic. They were guided by selfish interest.”

Yakasai further stated: “General Obasanjo did it during Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s era. He did it during the late General Sani Abacha’s regime, which later resulted to accusations that he was trying to overthrow the government, which eventually led to his imprisonment.

“General Olusegun Obasanjo also wrote a number of letters during General Abdulsalami Abubakar’s regime and he is still writing letters in this current presidency of General Muhammadu Buhari.

“So, this attitude of writing unpatriotic letters has been part of General Olusegun Obasanjo.”

“When I married her, I rented an apartment for her because I have other wives and I don’t want them to live together.

“I started hearing from people in the area that my wife was having affair with a man, initially I ignored it until her lover came claiming ownership of one of my children.

“The man eventually came to the house but I refused to open the door for him.

“When I questioned my wife, she confessed that the man slept with her but it did not result in pregnancy.”

The 71-year-old businessman said that his wife was fetish.

“I once caught her burying something in my compound, I accosted her and tried to remove what she buried there but I could not.

“I went out before I returned, she had cemented the place.”



He begged the court to end the marriage that he was no longer interested that the love he once had for her had faded.

The president of the court, Mr Adeniyi Koledoye, urged the two parties to maintain peace and adjourned the case until Aug.22 for judgment

When he conceeded victory to President Buhari, ex president Jonathan stated that his desire to remain in power as a president was not worth the blood of any Nigerian.

He was labelled a coward, a thief, a useless and visionless leader and therefore must leave. Obasanjo, Pastor Bakare, Atiku Abubakar, Saraki, etc all worked for his removal. Most of those who decamped from PDP to join Buhari have lost out in the power game. So just like Jonathan they have become 'powerless' men and women

Very myopic Nigerians did not know that it all centered on power play. Truly there was massive looting and decay in many areas. Today we see Dasuki a northerner still in detention because of embezzlement, shortchanging the military and power play.

Can we truly say that this country has moved forward since 2015? From all the indexes of Transparency international and other such organizations, Nigeria has somehow been retrogessing.

Jonathan was accused of not doing anything about boko harm, but it was proven that his efforts were always sabotaged by powerful forces even in the north. Today even the basic needs of victims of insurgency in the IDP camps are looted withour fear by the so called custodians. The cain used to flog the old wife has been in active service flogging the new wife. Corruption has gone clearly beyond PDP/Jonathan and is seeming highly uncontrollable now.

Before now we thought that all robbery attacks on the highway were carried out by 'ordinary' armed robbers. Now we can no longer differentiate between an 'ordinary' armed robber and and herdsman armed robber. If truly herdsmen have been attacking people in the southwest is it not possibly an indication that the police/army made the northern areas difficult for them to operate?
Before making the Southwest roads their attack zone, the Benin bypass was a nightmare. Clearly herdsmen would run out of the bushes around in the day and in the night to attack travellers on that road. We have not been helped by some very inflammatory comments by powerful politicians like gov El Rufai.

The South west politicians in their greed for political power ensured that Jonathan was sacked. They rejoiced over their 'victory' and part of their prizes today is terror on their highways and farmlands. Their mouths must remain in the condition of shiii or shut up as it is called. But come to think about it, who can claim that the attackers are herdsmen 100%. Can armed robbers not disguise as herdsmen to attack?

Remember the proverb 'he who brings firewood full of ants invites the lizard as his guest'.

I am not an advocate for Jonathan, but rather I am an advocate for good governance, progress and a peaceful nation.

With the way it is going in this nation today will it not be right to think that some people are saying 'had I known'?

This set of individuals mature to something more destructive and demeaning in the long run. The polluting effects of corruption warrant the adoption of a holistic approach in fighting corruption right from the school level.

“JAMB is leading the onslaught against perpetrators of examination infractions. It is the responsibility of citizens and other government agencies to sign up for this critical national assignment. Unfortunately, national challenges are sometimes perceived by Nigerians as the exclusive headache of the agency.”

JAMB itself is a misnomer. A very unwise institution of the military governments to provide opportunity for those in the north who refused to go schools. The military governments - applying the quota system - used JAMB to favour the north, yet the educational gap has not reduced. The refusal of the northern indigenes to get educated grows everyday.

The policies of the past military governments backed by the greedy politicians has put this nation in this terrible situation.

Before JAMB students would round up their class five and get their HSC. If you passed your HSC you got admitted into the university. It was not easy passing the HSC then and the governments wanted it to be easy. Government scrapped those and yet allowed 'direct entry' for those who through other methods got the minimum requirements for admission into universities. The result is what we have today with half baked graduates everywhere. Bad doctors, engineers, lawyers, architects, accountants, scientists, etc.

JAMB should first purge itself of corruption before openly telling us of our leaders. When JAMB question papers leak before examinations is it the leaders who do it? Can we ever know how much bribe was collected by JAMB officials to compromise the process?

Today we are told that we have very bad judges. Very good lawyers with very good cases lose them because bad judges are there to give compromised judgements. That's what we read in the papers everyday.

The present LASU campus originally belonged to the Methodists. Infact Methodist boys high school was meant to relocate there in the late 70s from the then school premises on broad street Lagos. Alhaji Jakande's administration stopped it and the so called afternoon sessions in the secondary schools were introduced. He ended up constructing what came to be known as "poultry houses" in the name of school buildings. Lagos state government took over the site and situated LASU there in 1984.

Hopefully Governor Fayemi can have this done quickly and also it can help in improving the quality in our country. Education should not have any religious undertone in a multi religious society like ours otherwise we will remain where we are today.

The Nigerian Army formally commissioned into service a range of new indigenously designed and manufactured vehicles during its annual celebration day at the Ikeja Military Cantonment in Lagos state on 6 July.

Several types produced by the Nigerian Army Vehicle Manufacturing Company (NAVMC) were unveiled, including a new version of the Infantry Patrol Vehicle (IPV) featuring a larger frame, bigger wheels, and more space for personnel while still carrying a heavy machine gun in an overhead weapon station.

A Tactical Patrol Vehicle was also presented, which appears to be a high-mobility platform. It features room for up to eight personnel and can be armed with a heavy machine gun in an overhead weapon station.

An armoured personnel carrier designated as the Light Tactical Vehicle, which was first presented in an incomplete form during a firepower demonstration in April, was also exhibited. The vehicle appeared to be far less crude than its previous iteration, featuring a two-piece windscreen and an enclosed protected weapon station.

The latest version of the Proforce Ara mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle, known as the Ara 2 was also unveiled during the event.

While an initial batch of five Ara 2s was delivered to the Nigerian Army in March, no images were released at the time as the Army did not want to advertise the vehicle and its capabilities, a Nigerian industry source told Jane’s .

The Ara 2 is very different from earlier designs and features a fully monocoque hull, all-round STANAG Level 3 armouring with STANAG Level 4a on the floor for increased protection against mines and improvised explosive devices.

As part of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, a second batch of five Ara 2 MRAPs was handed over to the Nigerian Army, bringing the total number of this variant in service to 13 as three had been handed over a few weeks earlier, the same industry source added.
