TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by chibertha(f): 10:54pm On Dec 06, 2021
Big yes
all study visas have the earliest resumption date attached and the USA and Canadian embassies usually put in a note to remind you too.
Ifyonyem1:
Is it possible to be sent back when you have a valid canada visa and you are on transit,
Is it possible to be returned back to ur home country
Reason being that you are travelling earlier than you are suppose to ..for instance you are meant to resume by October for but you are traveling March
Can you be denied access to reaching ur final destination ..because a friend of mine said she was sent back from germany
Back to Nigeria and was asked to return when he's time of study is near ..I wanna know how possible that is ?

sorry for your expirence.
i would difer my admission to a later semester.

Mofeife:
Good day everyone, I was denied an f1 last week. I really want to try again but my case is a lill different from others on the thread of experiences here.

I had once(6yrs ago) been to Texas on b1/b2, I delivered my twins children there(all bills paid and left within 4months, so I didn't overstay), my hubby (got his visa 6months after I returned)in his 1st attempt to travel was denied entry and visa cancelled(same week Trump was sworn in). Three month after his cancellation, I applied for my daughter's b1/b2 and renewed my expired visa(draw box era). Five months(2019) to expiring I attempted to travel with all my children but we were denied board(on connection flight to US) after a stop over at Dubai- Emirates flights. So I stayed away from anything US until recently when I got admission to a college in Texas still. Details on I-20:
Total cost for 2 yrs- $10,000
Sponsor- family friend

Interview experience:
V.O - Good morning
Me- Good morning
V.O- pass documents
Me- here
V.O- What's your present qualification
Me- Masters in business administration
V.O- what are you going to study now
Me- Associate degree in Physical Therapy
V.O- more like you changing your career path
Me- Exactly
V.O- why?
Me- after covid, work experience has been changed and no longer deriving any satisfaction in my job, so I resigned and started a business of mine which is registered and striving good. Meanwhile, I had 2 business ideas and this course is to help me kick on the 2nd which is to set up a rehab center.

V.O- why the school?
Me: affordable and small class size which will foster personal attention.

V.O- who's your sponsor?
Me- myself and Mrs...who is a psychiatrist nurse practitioner in... In Texas.
V.O- and she is your friend?(although I didn't hear dat right and just assumed that was what he intended).
Me: Yes.
V.O: I'm sorry u are not qualified.....
Me- thank you.

Kindly advise if anything looks wrong with this. Meanwhile, I have another reason (health on my citizen son) to apply for b1/b2, can I apply for that immediately?

I do not intend to give up on my f1 too, since I can't get another emergency appointment (although I haven't tried) what can I do to keep my admission intact?
Pls you advice is needed as I'm on the system to hit another DS 160.

you can not pay if from NIGERIA , but outside NIGERIA. i heard you can do it at one of the banks at seme border.
If you have someone in the USA it will take seconds to do it at any western union office.

somtokris:
Please guys I am having serious difficulty in paying SIVES FEES , pls can anyone suggest a good western union agent in Abuja that I can make use of in order to make payments for my SIVES FEES.

Most importantly guys I have not be able to successfully make my SIVES FEES payments & I have already done my Biometrics on Sunday, remaining my interview which is Tuesday ( that is today) do you guys suggest I continue with the Visa interview or I shouldn't go for the interview until my SIVES FEES payment is done & completed.

Please guys give me your genuine advice please, so I don't make mistakes.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by chibertha(f): 2:29pm On Nov 02, 2021
To me oooh.
It is always better to go to the embassy with something related to your first degree or job.
These guys have a different standard for Nigerians applying from Nigeria.
Going to the embassy with another course at this point to me will make it look like you are desperate and glaring say na.............

look into the following
how did you fill the part that has to do with your work
that's the place a lot of us miss out, what we fail to realize is that is usually the main selling point.

do you work for a government hospital or a private one?
if it is the latter your guess is as good as mine!

GUYESS:
Hello Everyone,

I've been a silent reader of this section, fortunately, i got an offer this year to pursue an Associate degree in Nursing, which I took hoping my case would be different. So I had my Visa interview today at Abuja Embassy but I was only delayed at the moment. Kindly, find below my transcript for your scrutiny and comments.

I was asked just 4 questions (out of the 32 questions I'd initially prepared, lol) by a very tall white guy;

VO: Have you travelled out before?
ME: No, I haven't had a reason to, prior to this time.

VO: I can see you're going for an Associate degree in Nursing from NHCC, what's your first degree?
ME: BSc in Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt.

VO: Why are you going for this course?
ME: I developed a passion for nursing during the course of my work experiences in healthcare facilities and the nature of my 1st degree course where I got to work closely with medical practitioners most especially with nurses, I got to encounter the various aspect of patient care and the tenacities of these nurses to provide excellent healthcare to the patients always drew my admiration, this ignited my passion to pursue a nursing degree.

VO:What do you intend to do after graduation?
ME: After graduation, I intend to utilize the Optional Practical Training for a period of 3 to 4months in order to have more clinical experiences which will be leveraged on upon my return to Nigeria and upon my return, this degree will enable me be reabsorbed as a full time staff at my current place of work in the capacity of a licensed nurse (I currently work as a Volunteer Healthcare Assistant in a hospital); I have a written agreement with the hospital management to this effect. I hope to influence the health practice at my work place to a global standard with the clinical knowledge and expertise gained. Then I also talked about partnering with NGOs such as WHO and SFH in order to volunteer my services for the provision of affordable and accessible healthcare services to some remote communities in my state.

Please, is it advisable to reapply or I should secure an MSc admission related to my 1st degree because I know that my No.2 question was a redflag. I sincerely do not feel bad nor disappointed reasons being that I know by God's grace, I will get my Visa soon. My fellow nairalanders, kindly advise me on the next step to take. Thanks.

odidimekun:
Hello everyone
I got my visa denied yesterday so this was my transcript I want to know what I said wrong because I’m thinking of reapplying thanks
School- Troy University
Scholarship-50% tuition scholarship
Course - Asn nursing
Undergraduate

Me- Goodmorning
V.O - Goodmorning, pass me your document
Me- Sure ma’am
V.O - I can see you’re going to Troy for an Associate degree in nursing
Me - Yes I am
V.O- Okay what’s your highest school qualification (or something like that can’t remember)
Me - O’level and a predegree program result from Obafemi Awolowo university
V. O- who will be sponsoring you?
Me - My dad will and I got a 50% tuition scholarship from the school
V. O- What’s your plan after you get this degree
Me - I plan on coming back to Nigeria to take up a job as a geriatric nurse because I’m Nigeria the geriatric medical service is not prioritized and as a result of this there are less than 100 geriatricians to about 4 million old people and a lesser amount of this of geriatric nurses all over the country, My goal is to actually have my own geriatric center where the elder can come and get the right treatment they deserve.
V.O - Okay I’m sorry you do not qualify for the visa blah blah blah and that was it

Please I will like to know what I did wrong,

Only if the F2 was not cancelled.
h20water:
If your F1 visa application was denied while you have a valid F2 visa, does it affect the F2... I mean if one can still travel back to the US with the F2 visa.

Her brother is her family.
In my situation it is my sister who is in charge of my father and grandfather's estate that is my sponsor.
owagbeba:
Sister, think this over and put yourself in the shoes of the visa officer. Why not your husband sponsoring you? If you include your brother as the sponsor, it says a lot about your husband’s inability to sponsor. You want to include your kid?

My ten cent: I think it won’t be easy to convince V.O.

And how useful can this domiciliary account be while in the US.
Thanks
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by chibertha(f):
1. Yes you should go with your little one as we know he is toddler and can not stay without his mother
2. There is no law that says you must bear the same last name as your relative
Eg my siblings and I use a different last while our parents use another. As for what he does that is what is you can not change it, he should give you account statements covering your COA.
3. Since you are working in that field it makes sense going to do masters in it. It shows progression.
flozysolomon:
@chibethar,

It is safer to get your visa first before you book a flight.
Approvalll:
I want to book a flight for the 21st of august is this advisable as my DSO said I would not need a letter for that
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by chibertha(f): 8:07pm On Jul 19, 2021
You are right.
I got my appointment for April 2021, October 2020 though it was cancelled by the embassy and I was ad iced to reschedule which I did and got 24 the May 2021.
Planning is the key
TWoods:
That isn’t grace, that’s just due diligence. Tired of Nigerians couching their laziness and lack of planning as “grace”. If you are going for a fall admission, you should start the process as early as October of the previous year. That gives you plenty of latitude to not need to file an emergency request for an interview. In some cases, schools allow you to start in summer (especially grad schools) if you’re going to be working in a research lab.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by chibertha(f): 2:37pm On Jul 19, 2021
As long as you can convince the VO that you are a genuine student and have enough money to cover for the expenses.

The employee.
But introductory letter should be to the embassy.

TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by chibertha(f): 7:02am On Jul 14, 2021
It doesn't affect it except the limit on your card for POS etc transactions is low.
Alternatively you can do direct transfer to the airline bank account in Nigeria or use a trusted travel agency eg Wakanow
harveygordon:
Please o. How can I pay for flight (Qatar Airways) given the dollar limitation on the naira debit card?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by chibertha(f): 9:56am On Jul 13, 2021
You can carry as much as you can but if it is more than $10000 US you must declare it here and there.
Hemstone:
Please how best can I access my funds in the USA?
1. Domiciliary account with dollar card (which banks is the best considering services and daily limit)
2. Is there others means apart from the dollar card?
3. How much cash can I carry on me while travelling that won't be an issue at the airport or port of entry?

Also, how do I use my Nigerian sim card number for WhatsApp abroad?

Thanks a lot

Hi everyone it's been a while.

For those who brought their LO back without USA passport ( during the COVID19 lockdown) and are now applying for LO first passport in Nigeria be sure to go with the following

-Birth records
-Documents you used in bringing LO into Nigeria
-Pictures of you pregnant in the states
-Pictures of you and LO st birth in the hospital
- pictures from fight to Nigeria
- anything that can help your case.

For those planning to embark on this journey good luck in advance..

For your information the following countries share information

Canada

Thanks so much for your response, the person I put as my husband for visiting was one of my uncle’s friends who has a good traveling history, I later got a divorce certificate to cancel that marriage when my husband filed for my Canada visa
Meanwhile my marriage with my husband now is real but this is is 16th month we’ve been on the Canada spousal visa, that’s why we tried the US school and now that I’ve gained admission we’re skeptical to use my husband or my father as sponsor
