Go girls. Our National Anthem being sung now |
that's a funny but sad story. I hope they've made up. Witnessed something similar in 1992. Fight broke out during reception. Both families were struggling to control the sharing of food and refreshment, resulting in the fight. The family of the bride took her home while that of the groom did same. The sad aspect of the whole episode was that there was enough food to go round twice with left over. This took place at the Multi Purpose hall at the then Lake Nwaebere campus of FUTO (Now Imo State University Owerri site). Needless to say that we the students had the best time helping ourselves to what was abandoned there |
Vickiweezy: https://www.chinese-tools.com/jdd/public/documents/cc/olive/20081113-bebe-16-orteils.2.jpgIt's not a disease, but a genetic abnormality. |
Nedu31: Another media brain wash, why not charge them to court?Sometimes, it is better to impose fines and sanctions than going to court. They are business entities and time is of essence to them. If they forfeit their fraudulent claims and pay fines, the course of justice would have been served |
You people push the government into negotiating with them. An afternoon on the queue at filling stations, and people start moaning. So why won't the government pander to the wishes and demands of the oil marketers? |
And by the way, we have the best fine sand for moulding blocks and concretes - quite unlike the corny, coarse grained white sand from Afikpo hahahahahaha |
spyder880: Sure this is EsuThanks, it certainly looks like the Esu in my village, on the way to Amasiri/Afikpo. The last I heard, the river was supposed to be overflooding, unless of course it's receding |
spyder880: when the canoe is full, they come to land and empty the sand, and we load sand from there. I still intend to visit the place they get their gravel from.do you by chance know the name of this river? Esu? |
spyder880: Many of my accesories are fitted with lipped sealing to prevent leaks. Some are sealed with a special gum that is almost air tight during installation. We think of every possible thing that may go wrong before we commence fittings. Thanks for pointing it out anyway. I will show us where I went searching for sand with a canoe today. More pictures after I chophmm, interesting! Using canoe to go looking for sand to buy. Hasn't the flood receded yet? |
lawmani: Guy let's try and be truthful at times. The shoprite road has two visible sign post clearly positioned at the end of the road that hits awolowo way. One is written "Do not Enter" while the other has a symbol of a crossed road entrance on it indicating no entry! Is it possible to take and post pictures of the road signs so that other motorists can see? I guess pictures of the location of the signs should help |
Oga Spyder880, do you use rubber band to ensure that there's no leak in the pipes for conduit laying? See attached photo to understand what I mean
|
spyder880: Although we are working in Ebonyi, I went to the Kenyatta market in Enugu to pick all these items and transported them to Ebonyi. Quality on my mind.If indeed the project is based in Ohaozara axis of the State, then it's nearer to Enugu (less than 60km) than Abakaliki. Besides, there should be good access road to/from Enugu. Say, where exactly is the project based? The problem you are having accessing sand should be explained away by the heavy rains and floods that have limited sand supply to only come from Isu. Else, sand is usually the least of problem(s) encountered when building in that part of the world. Good job though you are doing. Jisie ike |
afam4eva: I hope they don't become the first German city to get bombed by Al Quaeda, lolThey have a history with Al Quaida. Remember September 11 bombings were actually planned and hatched in Hamburg, where the key participants lived, studied and set their plans in motion before moving to carry out their nefarious atrocity |
Tinax: Or ...ifę gi na amasimthat means, I like you not I love you |
lukaino: Go to a place like the Niger Delta where they are natural swimmers and train them in the sport, this will not only win us medals but actively and gainfully engage idle youths.Natural swimmers wont get us any medals. You have to see the training that goes into these talents at very young age. The swimmers you see today have had to put in more than 10 years of hard work. Besides, we don't have the facilities. While we ought to harvest the talents at a tender age, we shouldn't forget that we need to put structures in place first. In the 80s it worked for us, what were the things we used to do that we no longer do? |
dikkybutt: You live in Abuja; his friend, a Senior Manager on the Island......Thought I was the only one who noticed the discrepancies in the story. You live in Abuja and the stories happened in Lagos. He goes out to party all night in Lagos and in the morning he comes to Abuja to sleep on his matrimonial bed. And people are bursting arteries on made up feminist stories |
Obiagu1: So which bridge did Obasanjo award a contract for? Where's the money?OBJ awarded his own contract on the pages of Newspaper, in the twilight of his administration. The 350 Million Naira is for Design of the Bridge. Contractors cannot submit bids unless there's already a design in place |
Sagytarius: Hmmmm. nice historical analysis. I like that.@Sagytarius, thanks Bro. Okposi has some great sons and daughters and Ebonyi at large, is also endowed with great human resources. The issue of choosing our leaders is beyond the people of Ebonyi South, seeing as we are the minority in Ebonyi Politics. However bad Elechi's government is, I think he has tried in opening up the state through his aggressive road and bridges construction - at least that's what I hear. People from different parts of the state have direct roads linking them to the state capital Abakaliki. It's left to whoever comes after him to face other developmental challenges. Besides, leaders can never perform beyond what they are able to dream. We await 2015 with the expectation of an expectant father (yes, father not mother hahahahah)! Say, when did you finish from FGC Okposi? Had some relatives there around 2000/2001 |
Okija_juju: Sadly it is what it is...@Okija_juju, succinctly and aptly put! The 1966-1970 unholy alliance is being formed. The Westerners and Northerners would never see anything good in Jonathan's administration. And if you ask me, he's been the best president we've had in a civilian dispensation, critics notwithstanding |
@achi4u, the thread cannot and should not end, just because some people's comments are negative. Beauty is relative. I prefer greenery to concrete and steel. Besides, others with better camera may have better quality pictures to upload to augment what you've already uploaded. I hope you are able to post some more pictures |
spyder880: dunno what this is all about, does anyone know?Probably a roofed village market. People go there to spread their wares on market days. Where was the picture taken? Ishiagu, Uburu, Onicha or Abakaliki? |
speedyboi: Mehn! This city ugly nor be small...damn!Bolded sections refer. The essence of these pictorials is to bring to the attention of people and those in authority areas where they could/should work on and pictures don't tell lies. If photoshoped just to appear better, then the purpose gets defeated ab initio. Actually, beautiful towns doesn't necessarily attract tourist. People visit where they are made aware of. Ugly places could be marketed if properly packaged |
Sagytarius: Bro, no enjoyment o. It only made me turn military.Well, you definitely missed out. I spent my childhood and teenie years there and it was the best any child could have, believe me. If you grew up in a city, then going to school in a village setting would definitely look like punishment (and vice versa). Your Dad was "partially" right in telling you that FGC Okposi was one of the pioneer Unity Schools (at least infrastructure wise). The then FGC Okposi (built while Aja Nwachukwu was the pioneer Federal Minister of Education and an Okposi indigene) was moved to Enugu, then they had the government secondary school Okposi take it's place, and was later shunted to where they are now, and Federal Polytechnic established there (Moved and renamed Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana), then Federal Technical college was established in it's place before being moved to Ukwa in Abia State and replaced with Federal Government College Okposi. So you enjoyed a very rich history hahahahaha! |
It's good that the pictures are putting a lie to the propaganda of the present and past administrations. But in a proper context, this is an improvement to what was on ground in 1996 when the state was created. Two-third of the state was carved out of the Old Anambara and Present day Enugu State. Then, the area was criminally neglected and considered only good for providing food for the rest of the state. The other 1/3 of the state that came from the Old Imo and present day Abia State (Afikpo and Ohaozara) didn't fare much better in terms of government impact on the people. So, Ebonyi State could definitely do better with more visionary leaders. Sadly, those there at the moment and others angling to be at the helms are more interested in building hotels than laying a more solid foundation for the state. |
@achi4u, good job you are doing so far. Maybe shining the light on the city will cause the powers that be to wake up to more of their responsibilities. The essence of posting the picture, while aiming to showcase the city, should also be to see how far the city has come from where it was before it was made the state capital. Good job @Sagytarius, hope you enjoyed your time at Okposi, the stone age notwithstanding |
wurajone: a daa ko o jare omo aba mi..don't mind haterswish I understood half of what you wrote there |
D-Explorer:This is not about politicians but about a state, a people and what they have achieved and proud of, of their environment and the culture of the people. After all, most of the pictures shown are of private ownership and predates the present occupant of the government house in Ekiti. So relax and enjoy the pictures |
banki: Abeg all of you criticizing the pastor should SHUT UP,is there anything he has said in his sermons in the last 4 weeks thats a lie? if it is a lie please tell us which one, are we happy with the way things are in the country if we are lets clap our hands and praise PDP and the ruling government. thats how he talked and now GEJ was made acting president now he is an enemy because he is telling the truth! Where were you and your pastors when turai and her cabal held GEj and Nigeria to ransom?why didnt you people talk.... bloody hipocritesfinding the truth in his statements is really the issue. Innuendos and abuse of person isn't the way to achieve whatever he's set out to. Of course, ACN cheerleaders and bootlickers will applaud his rantings |
The essence of posting these pictures is to showcase our different people, cultures and cities. They don't necessarily have to look like Manhattan before we pride ourselves in what is ours. I love the serenity of Ekiti landscape. No wonder my Granny spent over 3 decades there. Please post more pictures |
spyder880: This project is going to be executed in the Ohaozara axis of the state.Interesting! Most likely in my village. Make sure you sample the "original" nkwu enu while you are there |
