InyinyaAgbaOku:
Chimamanda is close to Achebe
This generation has great people like Achebe and the rest.
The ONLY difference is that they write in areas very familiar to white literature. Put succinctly, they are typically educated in the west and thus their orientation makes their work appear simple.

Unlike Achebe that based most of his works on authentic African poetry and literature. This is an area no white man can compete and thus he is the father of the game. It is like Nollywood that gained fame by telling authentic African stories. if Nollywood had made the mistake of starting with western style movies of cars blowing up and high budget movies, they would have ended up in the gutter because they can't compete with western movies in such areas. But, they touched an area no western movie can compete; African stories...

many many aspect of African life still need to be discovered for the world to appreciate.

A Great lady Posted on Facebook:

Do you know Hong Kong is a region inside China ? I use to
think Hong Kong was a country of its own... #OlodoLikeMe
Chinenye what do you want ? I want a HONG KONG IN
NIGERIA FIRST,
where do you want it located ? In South east and some part
of South south (that's if they want it) ..
Now that's the kind of BIAFRA I WANT, AN ECONOMY
BIAFRA..
I want a HONG KONG IN NIGERIA..
Hong Kong in Nigeria series coming from me soon..
#Strategy (well what I read Hong Kong region did)
Hong Kong wanted to be the Biafra of China, well China
Refused, what did Hong Kong do ? Their wealthy men and
women gathered and decided to make their region great.
Now Hong Kong citizens are proud to tell you they are from
Hong Kong (they hardly say China)..
China now begs them with style to stay.
Where are our wealthy men and women ? Have you reached
out to them ? Are you carrying them along ? Your governors
are that encouraging her people to come back home and
invest ?
Lastly from me,
Stop bullying your neighbors if they don't want to join you,
LEAVE THEM ALONE and do it on your own Or try convincing
them or their leaders to join you with love..
Yes I read about Hong Kong.
Anyway what do I know ?
Do I want Biafra ? Yes but a Hong Kong Biafra FIRST...
I appreciate what Nnamdi Kanu is doing but he needs a little
bit more strategy...
#UdoDiRiNu
Bishop,
I always love your ideas, but in this case, you are comparing apples and oranges.

Hong Kong governs itself and does everything a country will do EXCEPT call itself a country at the UN. Southeast Nigeria DOES NOT have such privileges. So, this comparison is misplaced.

If Nigeria were structured in a way the regions will dictate their own development AS IT WERE AT INDEPENDENCE, then your conclusion will makes sense.
But, we practice a unitary style of government called the Federal government that dictates everything from Abuja, dictates which airport can be called international, which seaports can be international and which states to approve refineries and power plants for etc, etc, etc.

As long as we are in such primitive arrangement where Hausa and Yoruba will hide behind "Federal Government' to deny the SE any meaningful attempt at economic development, your comparison with Hong Kong doesn't make sense.

Agulu Lake Resort is gradually reaching completion & will be open for business in 2016!.
if they use enough trees and flowers to make that place a true resort, it will compensate for the poor box-shaped design. The Le Méridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort Uyo had an equally ugly design, but they used enough palm trees and golf course to transform it into a true resort.

I wish igboson will come here. He is a great advocate of using flowers and trees liberally in the south east, so that our hotels and major roads look like Abuja and indeed similar facilities in other countries. Unfortunately, for some reasons we just hate a green serene environment which trees and flowers bequeath.

Yes! there was stoppage of work there, which they attributed to the heavy rain & slippery nature of the place which was affecting their job!.The design of that hotel in all honesty was terrible!.... I don't know who did that design?. I don't think that design resemble anything Omanbala!. Although all hope are not lost if they can do some great stuff to it immediate environment in way of planting exotic flowers & plants!
Truth be said, One thing i didn't like in Obi's era was the architect they used for design of buildings. it was obviously a local architect and didn't have much imagination except making everything like a square box. From the state secretariat to the teaching hospital to the hotels, it all lacked imaginatively modern design. Especially when you compared with the design architect used in Enugu state buildings.

However, i will still give Peter Obi a pass mark because he laid the foundation. it was very difficult to rule Anambra when Obi started because it was indeed a failed place where many warlords held the state government to ransom and just wanted all contracts awarded to their fake companies that had no intention whatsoever about completing them. Obi fought all those shenanigans and liberated Anambra from their wicked clutches. That is how Anambra turned the corner from a failed woeful state to a developing prosperous state.

[size=15pt]I like the anti-Igbo gang up that is going on in nigeria because it will finally open the eyes of those recalcitrant Pro-Nigeria Igbos.
Once they have finally seem through the ruse called Nigeria, the rest of the journey will be easier because they won't be doubting if a breakup was the best option.

again, Igbos should learn to hit back harder in the SE and SS. Since the Aba & Onitsha riots of 2000 in retaliation for killing of Igbos in the north, i have not heard about such cases of killing, because northerners have since learned that there is a price tag on their people in the south for killings in the north.

Politics › Re: Nigeria’s External Debts Has Risen To $11billion Against $9.4billion Jonathan’s by ChimaAdeoye: 4:28am On Oct 19, 2015
erunz:
The Director-General, Debt Management Office, Dr. Abraham Nwankwo has disclosed that Nigeria’s external debt profile has risen to $11 billion as at last week as against the $ 9.4 billion recorded in March. Similarly, domestic debt profile was said to have risen to N11 trillion.

Nwankwo disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Kaduna on Friday shortly after declaring open a one-day enlightenment workshop with leaders of students’ unions from tertiary institutions.

Nwankwo, however, said the quantum of the debt did not really matter. He said the most important thing was how the resources were deployed to encourage economic growth, development, generate employment and reduce poverty.

“Presently Nigeria owes, domestically, about N11 trillion and externally, about $11 billion. The figures are the total of all debts in the federation. It includes external debts of the federal and all the state governments as well as the domestic debts of the federal government and all the state governments.

“Let me emphasise that what matters is not just the quantum, what is important is how these resources are deployed to encourage growth, development, generate employment and reduce poverty.

“It matters whether you are in a position to pay back what you borrowed as at when due and in the case of Nigeria, I want to assure you that Nigeria’s debt remains sustainable.

“Based on current global economic problems, particularly the collapse of oil prices, this is having significant impact on economies all over the world. Because the Nigerian economy is very resilient and because the government is in control, Nigeria’s debts continue to remained sustainable.”

I like to commend Rochas for a standard International Conference Center in Owerri.

The challenge as usual is to use landscaping, with many many palm trees,a huge water fountain, lots of flowers to transform the entire venue to the point that it becomes a truly world class venue like the Abuja conference center.

I sincerely hope they take landscaping very seriously to transform this area into a world class venue, instead of leaving it local like everything else. it will be a shame to spend all the money to build a beautiful edifice, while not completing the good work with equally world class landscaping.

Nna e, Nnamdi Kanu is so strong on Obiano this evening o, calling him a cocaine sniffing drunk.
Hmmmm
I wish Nnamdi Kanu had an email address to get people's concerns and also gather intelligence quickly from the ground. people have complained it is a herculean task to call and get answered. An easier way for people to participate in the discussion of the independence of their land through email should be made available to them. Nnamdi Kanu speaks the truth but he should have some finesse. Managing human beings isn't easy, talk more of people that have been oppressed for so long as the Igbos have been in Nigeria. So a lot of work and patience is required.

Nnamdi should carefully examine how Nelson Mandela conducted his own freedom struggle with a lot of self control and wisdom.Mandela eventually convinced the world to impose sanctions on the terrorist apartheid state. Mind you, before that, the apartheid government had branded Mandela a terrorist. Communicating your case is a huge step in this cause.

You cannot achieve Biafra if more than 50% of Igbo is against it. Therefore, instead of cursing people, he should clearly state the injustice which everyone already knows and sees, then convince them. Igbos are oppressed all over Nigeria and excluded from the governance of Nigeria, so convincing someone about this shouldn't be too hard to do. People will volunteer their skills and resources if you are able to give them a courteous treatment. One that recourses to insulting people is a mark of poor communication skill of stating the case.
I hate when he keeps hammering Britain, although the conduct of that country is shameful in contributing to the oppression and killing of fellow human beings. In fact, Britain should seeks ways of restructuring Nigeria to make it workable and not simply backing one side with weapons supplied through a rogue state like Iran. I listen to the relay of the broadcast on the internet http://www.liveonlineradio.net/english/radio-biafra.htm , i will call and tell nnamdi to tone down on hammering on our people in derogatory terms. Tell them very specifically where and how they erred with facts and figures without insulting the man. it makes you sound credible not to be regarded as a hoodlum.
