I think its a mistake to place group labels on people. There are good people and there are bad people, Christians, Muslims, Atheists whatever it is.

In Christianity not everybody operates in the same wavelength, most people got there by just going to church ever since childhood. There are passive Christians but good people all the same they do not shout and scream or even try to debunk everything that is not "Christlike". There are those who became Christians through a Damascus moment, they are more dedicated and can sometimes become fanatical spewing fire and brimstone to those who cannot survive thinking the way they do. Still though there are those who use it as a tool to manipulate other people, those who live one way and preach to people to live another way, these are the snakes everyone should have a problem with.

There are atheists who are very aggressive, personality and sometimes a genuine passion to "help" those who are "brainwashed" play a huge role in how they interact with people. Personally I felt betrayal and I still say my piece when I see an MOG preaching one way and living another but ultimately I have no beef with anyone who is a Christian or muslim. I might not agree with what you say and 99 percent of the bible certainly makes no sense to me, I would say my piece and let it go.

Personally I think marriage should be a strategic partnership, based on mutual trust, a solid foundation , two characters that compliment each other and love if you can afford it.

The very first part I totally agree with, Nigerians are very badly behaved and that is a fact. When I heard Dieziani Alison-Madueke saying that at 50 Nigeria was not doing badly because at 50 Britain was still fighting the knights of the roundtable, I shook my head in pity. Or when someone reminds us that it took the US over a century (or how long was it?) to extend voting rights to women and longer than that to extend full constitutional protection to blacks. For God’s sakes the US got independence in 1776, not 1976. How do you use the standards of the past to judge today? That the US did not give women the vote in 1776 was not because they were backward or corrupt and not progressing, it was because of the TIME. You have to compare Britain’s level of development at 50 with countries that were 50 at the time not Nigeria in the 21st century. Nigerian leaders are not siphoning their country’s money to foreign accounts because it is what is expected of leaders in the 21st century. Customs aren’t stealing at our borders because of the TIME and Mrs Madueke and her fellow ministers aren’t awarding contracts and oil deals to friends and relatives who aren’t qualified and without due process because our country needs to pass through that process to get it right. The indices of progress were there in the States back then. The people cared about the country – especially the elite. Even the colonialists that came here 150 years ago did not steal to line their own pockets. They stole for their queen and country.

Again yes we have only really practiced this madness for 50 years, out of which the only years that really count per say would be from 1999 till date. Going back and forth between the military and democracy did us no good at all. So here we are many years after military rule, in a democracy that is struggling to find its feet and really I have no hope that this model would work at all.

We are a very unique set of people and we would like the chinese did need to look inward and do that which is going to work for us.

Look, again, at corruption. It’s not uniquely Nigerian. In Indonesia, Pakistan, Mexico and countless other countries, including even first world South Korea, it happens that when a minister gives someone a contract, the contractor would give him a kickback of 10%. That is not what happens in Nigeria. Here, you can award a contract and collect 100%, that is, simply put the money in your pocket and let the grass grow on site. Alternatively, you can award a contract for N10 million and get the contractor to sign for N80 million. And then (this happens in the LGs) you can have someone hint the contractor that he has no business going to site because “we use that road to eat every year”.

Corruption is institutionalized in Nigeria, it is a way of life. Look, when the governor wants to run for election he needs to source for funds, especially in his first tenure, he goes to these political associates and then they fund his election in terms of money and giving him the necessary "votes". When he gets there finally he has to give these guys the contracts to pay them back and what do you think they would do?
We need a different model to this whole thing, I am pretty sure that if we look critically at this we would be able to come up with ways to prevent people from stealing. We have to stop this practice of trying to build strong men, we need to build strong institutions. Where is Nafdac today since dora left that position? Efcc since ribadu left? The list is endless. We need a different approach to the problem but first the people would have to wrestle their right to choose leaders from the elite. Then they would suffer from some very poor decisions such as sentimentally voting for GEJ and then we can see if there is any hope at all.

There is a lot of problems with that assumption, first and fore most let us look at it from a practical point of view. Do you really think Nigerians fear hell?

Religion to Nigerians is not so much abouts its content, but about an identity. A girl who spent all Saturday night in the club or even having sex with her boyfriend/aristo will wake up by 7am, have her bath, dress up and she is in church. Immorality is very high in Nigeria right now, corruption, crime and all sorts of vices.. Yet every Sunday, the churches are filled to capacity.

To the Rich/upper middle-class Nigerians, Church is nothing but a social gathering where they can come into contact with the poor and subconciously oppress them. Thats why its easier for a rich man to see the pastor than it is for a Poor Church Usher to even enter the Pastors office, let alone see him. They dont pray as hard as the poor, they come late and leave early, they get choice seats in church, they get special invites to every occasion and the pastor always answers their calls personally. This classonly attend church on SUNDAYS!!


To the lower-middle class/independent enterprenuers, Church is nothing but another avenue to meet potential clients. These ones get access to the pastors, but not as easily as the rich folks. They can get a Pastor to pray for them, but cant get a pastor to come to their houses. This class would attend Church on Sundays abd are always at house-fellowships (as this is where they c=get to interact with the rich).

The Poor, To them, Church represents hope. This class are the most dedicated members of the church. they sweep the church, they make up over 75% of the churches workers, they are very loyal to the pastors, they pray the hardest, loudest and longest. They are the first to arrive in church and the last to leave. To them, they really do believe that if you pray hard enough, manna will fall from the skies. They are the most committed. This class can never see the pastor at will. Infact, they will be lucky if they can get the pastors number let alone speak to him one on one. They come to church every sunday hoping for a miracle. They dress their best but always come short. They eat at the feet of the rich & upper middle class who use them as they like.


The Politicians need religion for control. They use it for election purposes and to keep the masses under control. A christian wouldnt kill a Politician that is stealing him blind because of religion. And he is so shackled bythe religion that he cant even fight the system, so he prays to God for a solution to a problem that is within his control.



Religion is not important to Nigerians, its now a habit.

Sadly, we have chosen foreign gods like the Jewish god and the Persian god. Abandoning our local gods. If we still actively worshipped Amadioha, by now, someone would have dragged their governor before Amadioha and made him swear with his life if he stole our money during his tenure or not.. By now, a Yoruba man would have dragged his council man before Sango to swear if that fake road was truly tarred with 15 billion Naira.
