AishaYesufu: When we were younger we were told to face our studies so as to enjoy in future. As adults (working) we are advised to invest and save so we won't suffer when we grow old. At old age, when we can't enjoy things we should have at our younger years, we are still told not to eat those things we love and confined to fruits and vegetables because of our "health".
When will a man enjoy in this life? Life is like a balance scale that shoudn't weigh too much on one side. Your Health, Wealth and Priorities should be in equal balance. Don't neglect your health in your younger days if you don't wan to eat only fruit and veggies in old age. Insure your life from younger age so you don't over work your body in old age Save as much as you can, just enough to make you comfortable. Poverty and Riches are the things of the heart, don't let it rub you off your health. Remember some don't eat sugar and still have diabetes some don't eat salt and still over salt some don't drink nor smoke and are plaque with cancers some are rich but only in numbers some are rich in wisdom and knowledge some are poor but content find your balance, you can live and live well. the choice is yours MY2CENT

Family › Re: She Discovered Her Husband Is A Gay, Now This Is Happening by Cleanworld(f): 1:47pm On Mar 13, 2021 |
Adonis86: As I was going through my phone this afternoon, a lady chatted me and I responded. She said she wants to ask me a question, that I shouldn't be angry with her. I assured her that I won't be hard on her. She asked me if I'm a gay. I responded No. She sent me a screenshot of a conversation I had months ago who I later learnt to be her husband. I asked her why she asked of my sexuality, she said she's suspecting her husband of three years to be a gay. It sounds so crazy to me but I suspect it's real due to the screenshot of the message, where the guy was demanding for sex from me. Now, I inquired more about their relationship as couple and found out he beats his wife often, even during her first pregnancy.
Now, the man confirmed to me that he beat the wife last night for going through his phone conversation and labelling him a gay, due to the kinda conversations he's been having with guys. But in a bid to deny it, he deleted the conversation and beat her up on false accusation. The lady has reported to their Reverend in church, but the Reverend discouraged her from going to Human rights commission or leaving the marriage.
Now, she's looking for more evidence to nail the husband. She wants me to send her the whole conversation I had with the husband, showing where the husband was begging me for sex and sending me his nude pictures. But I don't want to be that instrument she'll use to break up her young family. Though the annoying part is that the husband is very resentful and not even remorseful about his infidelity and domestic violence. The lady is not educated though wanted to learn a skill or go for further studies, but the husband refuses to send her to learn all those skills. According to her, he once accused her in his shop for stealing 45k, which was not true. He stopped her from coming out to his shop, whenever she comes out to stay with him in the shop, he'll be talking her down in the presence of his friends and customers. I was moved by her lamentations, that's why I had to take the pain to write this. I have contacted the husband on Facebook and inquired about the dispute and learnt the lady was saying the truth. Though I threatened the husband with military arrest if he ever touches the wife. But I'm still scared he might get home and pounce on the wife again for talking to me.
Please i need matured advice from people here on how matured to settle this young family dispute without the poor lady suffering further in the hand of this young man. In this 21 century and 8th Generation age, anyone denying their sexual orientation and using it to harm other's just to cover up is wickedly wicked and should cover their hands in shame. Let her seek for divorce as soon as possible. marriage is not a do or die affair and ithe union is meant for two lover not enemies. and as for you Mr story teller, If you are having an affair with the dude look for love elsewhere. You were at Imo state and spent a better part of your governorship chasing shadows..All his political life, just like Orji Kalu, it has been about strategizing for the presidency...It's the reason they quickly discarded him from the APC...., it was the same reason his second term was sterile as he seldom governed. You can't be angling to be president simply because you want to add that "feather" to your cap!
We have seen how a feeling of entitlement by Buhari has led the country to a disasterous path.. Okorocha, Orji Kalu Hushcobar Tinubu and their likes are just muddling the waters! While I will consider Baba Suwe or Mr Ibu presidencies as improvements to the generational retardation going on at Abuja as we speak, (which means that an Okorochas presidency compared to Buharis is a great leap forward), going forward post Daurra Disaster, the country needs serious inventive leadership if it will ever survive the next few years without wars and carnage... Rochas will bring vintage drama... Nobody needs that.. Your narration is a full chronicle of the Nigeria politician's life. They aren't particullarly looking to better the country and it masses but having one agenda to get POWER and become Numero uno just for the sake of it and of course to enrich their already filled pockets. it is a pity that this roller coaster won't stop any moments unless we all have to hold on to it and stop it moving forward. |

Chuxx84: Good evening nairalanders. Please I need advice/opinions on this issue at hand.
I have been taking care of my mother since before I got married, I have other brothers older and younger but they are not financially buoyant. (So they claimed) I did not mind this but kept on caring for her ( house rent, feeding, other bills).
Although it's a burden to me, but she is my mother. Now my wife suggest that any money I want to give to her should pass through her (I will send to my wife then she sends to my mother) or she does the sending and I later pay her back.
Her claim is my mother is fetish with my money. I'm confused can this be true? Sometimes my mother will make simple money request my wife would say I should ignore her. She says she is taking me for a fool. I am beginning to get tired of this whole thing. Please help with advice or opinions.
Thanks. Its so sad that Nigeria women would find a man that love her and once she realises that...boom , the first thing is to make sure that such men is being put under her armpit and she will use him against his own family and Alas if the story is the other way round the said family will show the wife thast they have upper hand in their son's life. can't people just live in peace and face their own wahala/ well, if the woman that gives birth to you and your siblings until you grow up and marry is evil because she can't support her self financially then my brother you need to check your brain and your life maybe they're already cooking assorted vegetable soup and snail for you. ASUNDER: My friend is currently going through a divorce in the UK and having a hell of a time. His wife mounted as many allegations on him as possible during separation - domestic violence, marital rape, child abuse, drugs and alcohol use, adultery, forgery just to name a few. He had to leave the house. He has moved to a room in a shared house and now even struggling to pay the rent. He does not see his kids anymore (not by choice). He is very broke and in debt because of all that is going on. He can no longer afford a lawyer. He feels so powerless, helpless and hopeless that he cannot fight most of what his wife is putting him through in court. He represents himself these days.
He has stopped looking after himself and is always looking sad . He also lost his job due to his arrest and all the drama. He was arrested because he tried to go see his kids at his former home and his wife called the police that she was afraid of him and that he had come to harass her. Police arrested him even without any traces of any harassment. Note that he moved out of the family house voluntarily thinking that the period of separation would ease tension between him and his wife.
I always feel sad seeing him in this state and just wish that he could recover and bounce back. He is considering moving back to Nigeria.
Have you gone through divorce in the UK or do you know anyone who has? What was the experience and what advice would you give someone going through this?
Thank you. Are you sure it wasn't the wife that was paying the bills before? if not then he should be able to bounce back . most sit at home Dad's will suffer much in this situation but only time heals every wounds. My2cent |

Christianity Etc › Re: Must Every Believer Speak In Tongues As An Evidence Of Having The Holy Spirit? by Cleanworld(f): 10:16am On Mar 07, 2021 |
iamDrRhymes: I used to have this roommate who was a member of one of these Pentecostal fellowships back then in campus. He had just graduated and was actually doing his clearance when I joined the room to replace him who was considerably older. So it happened one evening as we were getting to know ourselves better. He asked if I was truly born again with the evidence of speaking in tongues which I told him that I do not. He went ahead intently to tell me if I know that I can be baptized by the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongue right there in our room. Well, I must confess that I wasn't buying his idea then because I didn't know what speaking in tongues will do for me and secondly, I was of the Jehovah's Witness' stand point as I had been welcoming their teaching for years earlier.
He swiftly went to close our door from behind as he saw my readiness to give his 'Holy Spirit' a try. He prayed in tongues for while and after, he laid hands on me hoping that I will fall on the bed under his 'claimed anointing' but I could only encourage him to try harder with my theatrics. He tried and tried until I willingly granted his request and he felt better but became even more intense with his ritual. This 'Spiri koko' brother will then ask me at intervals if I have the urge to speak in an unknown tongue and I will always give him an outright 'No' till hot sweat covered us both (he must have been figuring out what could be wrong with this Pre Degree Student). After about an hour of his unyielding exercise, he just told me to speak anything that comes out my mouth without refraining myself. So for the fact that I can't wait to leave that tinny room for a deep breath of fresh air, I voluntarily granted his request again. I spoke one of these popular gibberish- 'skibobobo' .... and he said 'Yes! That is it! that's your tongue! Continue!'. He became very happy and even worshipped God for saving a soul while I was having a good laugh inside of me. After that day, he will always ask me about how many hours I have spoken in tongues each day and of course you know, I will always give it to him so as to discharge myself on time.
Well, the above story was a funny experience I had more than 10 years ago and to the Glory of God today, I have shredded out doctrines and believe systems that deny the power of God. However, I still question the much emphasis on speaking in tongues by many churches today.
Jesus Christ said in March 16:17-18: “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Note that Jesus Christ made mention of other signs that will accompany those who believe, not just speaking in tongues. So why can't we have people like my former room mate say: Are you born again with the evidence of driving out demons? or with the evidence of healing the sick or any other signs mentioned in that Mark's Chapter?
Speaking in the tongues is part of the 9 Gift of the Spirit mentioned in 1Corinthians 12:8:11. The chapter also says that the Spirit Himself give as he determines- that means that any of the 9 spiritual gifts can attest to presence of the Holy Spirit even though it is possible to operate in more than one or even all the gifts (Ephesians 1:3). Why is this singular emphasis on speaking in tongues? What happens to the gifts of interpretation of tongues? Why is the relegation of other spiritual gifts?
Infact, the gifts of tongues appear to be the least in all the 9 gift of the spirits? (Matthew 23:23) Peter never spoke in tongues before he rose the lame man at the entrance of the beautiful gate, did he? Did he speak in tongues before he rose Dorcas from the dead? Did Paul speak in tongues to restore Eutychus to life. Where exactly can we find it in the bible where signs and wonders were performed through praying in tongues?
Is it a lie that speaking in tongues has be abused or hijacked by strange spirits in the church today? You get to a church and you will see everybody muttering the same incoherent syllables in the name of speaking in tongues (Matthew 6:7). Could it be that they got their own speaking in tongues using that my formal roommates style? How does the spirit of God come upon someone who do not have the true knowledge of God? God can not be mocked! Even unbelievers already know popular lines of speaking in tongues incase they find themselves in same corner I found myself 10 years ago. You will enter a church these days and you won't even know the prayer point because nobody is or can actually interpret their 'claimed tongues' (1 Corinthians 14:28). Again, why the emphasis on speaking in tongues when other spiritual gifts like prophesy are been left unattended to?
Please note that I never said that speaking in tongues isn't real, Infact I believe in the reality of the tongues of angels because I have experienced it before (1 Corinthians 13:1) but my point here that, is speaking in tongues not just a gift amidst numerous gifts in the bible? Why will speaking in tongues be the only evidence to prove the Holy Spirit? Our emphasis as Christians should be in godly characters i.e the fruits of the spirit which are: Chastity, self control, modesty, faithfulness, gentleness, godliness, long suffering, peace, patience, kindness, joy, charity (Galatians 5:22-23). Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:15-20, by 'their fruits we shall know them'
Do you even know that speaking in tongues is not only a Christian phenomenon? Somethings are connecting as regards to the Christianity we practice in this age. May God grant us the spirit of discernment (1 John 4:1). No, speaking in tougues is one of many spiritual gifts that a christian can posssess. According to 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, 28-29; Romans 12:3-8; Ephesians 4:11; and 1 Corinthians 7:7, there are at least 22 spiritual gifts. They are as follows: Apostles; Prophets; Pastor-Teachers; Evangelists; Prophecy; Teaching; Wisdom; Knowledge; Faith; Miraculous Powers; Healing; Distinguishing between Spirits; Speaking in Tongues; Interpretation of Tongues; Helps; Service; Administration; Encouragement; Giving; Leadership; Mercy and Celibacy. |

Family › Re: Is Africa Really A Better Place to Raise A Child Than The Western World? by Cleanworld(f): 8:52pm On Feb 22, 2021 |
WoundedLamb: An African friend always argue that kids are better of raised in Africa. He said he'd send his two boys to Nigeria so they'd know what life is all about. I asked him "what life is all about", he said hardship, blackouts, etc. He said kids raised in the Americas aren't respectful and organized cause they didn't suffer. And that brings me to the topic of this thread. Is the Nigerian style of raising kids really the ideal model? I just want to share my opinion on the things my friend mentioned as reasons to send his boys to Africa: respectful and organized and the need to "suffer small" (his words).
Respectful: In the Nigerian society, elders don't usually explain to kids why they shouldn't do some things; they just authoritatively ask them not to do it and the kids better not ask why. Kids grow up respecting thier elders out of fear (and not admiration or love). The implication of this is that they do a lot things without their patents' knowledge, and they get used to this "hidden lifestyle" that makes it almost impossible for parents to truly know thier children. This in turn denies the parents the opportunity to identify and correct some unwanted behaviours as the kids always tell them just what they want to hear. And then it's only a matter of time before some of these kids outgrow the fear and reveal their true personalities (good luck with your mystery parcel at this point). Whereas in the Americas, kids are engaged and not commanded. You can easily tell the direction your child is headed.
Organized: He said kids raised in Africa are more organized and not crazy like their American counterparts who do all sorts of things like tattoos, plastic surgery, etc. Yes, Americans have a lot of deviants, but that's why new ideas/findings pop up everyday. I believe Africans force thier youngsters to fit into a predefined pattern of life and thereby reducing the chances of creativity. In Africa, you are supposed to go to school, get a job, get married and make children (and there are ages for all these). Then your children will do the same and the cycle continues. This "organised" pattern is the African dream; it is more important than any other dream or even the world itself, and any deviation is frowned upon. Africans think it's a crazy for a man to dedicate his life to studying mosquitoes even if that's his dream (yet Africans are the most affected by these killer insects), Africans think it's crazy for a woman to say she ain't getting married but would rather use her money to adopt and raise orphaned kids. A friend I was teaching software development had to quit cause "he didn't have time anymore". According to him, he had gotten to the age of marriage. And you wonder why nothing spectacular comes out of this continent? Alternative lifestyles might be scary but that's the wheel of progress.
"Suffer small": This one makes me laugh and I usually use it to tease my friend. Kids don't need to suffer small. Kids need the skills that would make them survive in their environment. If carrying water, fighting for a bus, using candles and going to the farm equip the child for the African life, great (just don't overdo it). But that's not necessarily a model. It's something they do out of necessity. A kid who is born in North America does not need to go to Africa to "suffer small". I don't even own a bucket as an adult and I'll probably never buy one. A kid born here needs DIY skills amongst others.
I don't have a problem with some people wanting their kids to go to Africa to learn thier culture but I don't subscribe to the idea that kids raised in Africa are better off. What do you think? Op, Give them the best of both world. Born in Africa raise in Obodo oyibo are the best . they always turn out right because they know where thet are coming from... |
