freecocoa: This woman is very stup1d, what is wrong with these type of women? she was pregnant. Na she don first carry belle. I can authoritatively tell you that many of our naija sister have been bred to be useless without a marriage to call theirs. Else why would this woman even go back to someone like this dude in the name of she's pregnant and can't leave. Like being pregnant is not enough reason to go away forever to spare the unborn ones the same torture their older one went through. |

All the kids in Nigeria are being molested to smitherens and the most we do is turn a blind eye or blame indecent dressing when we can. |

nnamdiosu: my dear we r in Nigeria o. anything goes. wat can we do? we can at least say something. we can't accept that as the norm. We are not barbarians. People need to start speaking up against things like this. Never underestimate the power of public opinion. If two people among those taking the pictures said something, they might have had some effect on the crowd and the thief will be taken to the hospital under citizens arrest like a normal human being even before the police got there. |

Look inside. We have all grown up in various dysfunctional systems and unwittingly imbibed beliefs that are inimical to our progress and detrimental to our relationships. There is no shame in this. The real shame is accepting it as the norm . NO! There is much better. Golden. |

@OP, Goodluck madam.
@ifyalways, I'm not aware of Lagos processes but someone I know in umuahia spent more than 500k during her adoption. I believe it can get that expensive.
Although I've kept wondering why. Is it that those officials try to make it hard for them because they know how desperate they are to have kids? I was even thinking it should be almost free since they want to help those kids and give them homes. Apparently not.
God help us. |

At least we have some honesty on this thread. There's hope. ronald4lif: Rightly said. The OP write up is faultless. In Nigeria, the message every parent and the society passes across to their daughters is how to become good wives, submissive and obey everything a man says whether right or wrong. Hardly do they train their sons to be good husbands and how to treat a woman fairly . When a couple are having feud and the wife narrates her ordeal to her family or in-laws the advise she get is to apologise to her husband. They say things like don't you know she's the man regardless of if the man is at fault. This is wrong. |

Lol. That's exactly what she's expected to do. If she's not doing that, she's not massaging the egos and that's not acceptable by our culture. Why else would sister philo (or Genevieve for example) post a picture online and the comments that follow query her for smiling at 30 when she's not married? Bind the epistle spirit well well o MizMyColi: Nne Lekwanum ooo I kuku left the thread for them. I seriously thank heavens I don't have a large circle of friends. Is this the kind of mumbo-jumbo they will be filling my ears with? Such unrepentant egotistic insecurity!
Okay, let's take Sister Philomina as an example (permit me to explain one last time, Coco...I just have this urge to ) No man dey look her face at the mo. She really doesn't have anyone who fills her ear with "I love you" She is 29 going on 30
Wait, is she supposed to cry her eyes out always in her closet and envy married folks like Coco. Even if she desires marriage and a life-long partnership, should she always carry it like HIV/AIDS in her handbag mind that she is an incomplete and incapable woman who is only worth any penny should a man knock on her father's bamboo door, thereby stopping her from seeking higher grounds and ideals, dreaming, attaching herself to worthy causes, and Just being?.
LMAO Make I stop here abeg. I cast and bind all spirits of epistle following me around on this thread.

dearpreye: There's a whole lot to life than simply getting married.
Our system is skewed against the women, and it appears they can do very little about it.
You hardly hear two or more women discuss self development, or other areas in which their improvement will bring great joy to their future husband. ...It's a ll about marriage and marriage.....
I agree with the OP almost totally.
The issue can go both ways, but it's worse with the women folks. It seems they almost only exist for marriage....very sad.
I can recall when my woman used to journey that path. I had to encourage her to look beyond the marriage and pursue her natural calling.....She didn't need to compromise her individuality because of me; she must maintain her uniqueness. Nice one |

Mizmycoli pls stop explaining. You can't physically open someone's head and put sense in there. The message is clear. And it in no way says marriage is bad or that ladies shouldn't desire it. Not even in the least.
If anyone reads the write up and sees it as advocating for women not to marry, so be it. There's nothing you can for such a dumb person. Why try?

Marriage is for better for worse o. This is a perfect example of for worse. Not cheating and abuse that we encourage people to endure.
If only the wife was here cos she needs to understand that now is the time to stick by her man.
All this typing is a waste if the actual person who needs to take correction is not here to learn. |

nickibarb: just to clarify something, when i say i'm staying for the kids, what i mean is, i'm staying to have them in my life cause if i leave now, he and his family are sure to get custody of the kids (i mean we are in Nigeria). When i'm in a more civilized country, I can expect justice so for now I have to suck it up so I can have my kids in my life. Okay |
Family › Re: I'm Seriously Considering Cheating On My Husband by cococandy(f): 2:21am On Oct 01, 2015 |
nickibarb: i'm not covering nothing. Yes, i said it, i'm only staying for 2 things: the kids and the money. if the money ever dissappears, i'm outta here. You can't be broke and be an asshole at the sametime. I used to love my husband but he's a totally different person from the man i dated, marriage brought out his true emotionally and physically abusive nature. If you're staying for the kids, trust me they won't learn anything from both of you and it will even affect them worse than a broken home when both of you start going at each other. So that's kinda pointless sha. Staying for the kids. Pfft. But since you're staying for the money, find a way to collect it well well before dumping him sorry ass. Too bad you can't divorce him and get all his money. Or at least half and the future proceedings. That's what people who treat their wives bad deserve. Anyway that's one option. Or you can forgive him if he's willing to change. But who are we kidding? He came back after long days of inexplicable absence filled with more lies? Smh. That's not happening. The money you're even staying for no be only una get am. His other families that you're yet to find out about will come in due time to claim their share. Hope there's enough to go round. Meanwhile protect yourself and goodluck. |
Family › Re: Why Do Individuals Cherish Their Mothers more Than Their Fathers??? by cococandy(f): 2:08am On Oct 01, 2015 |
is this one a question? The moms dedicate more time to take care of their kids hence the kids appreciate their moms more. Anyone with half a brain should know that. But as things are changing and more dads are becoming hands on, you see a shift towards kids learning how important their fathers are and appreciating them accordingly. Sadly it can only happen for those who actually act like true loving fathers to their kids. Not the ones that create threads on nairaland to ask us if it's okay to babysit their own kids when the mom ain't around. Even if such a man is a mumu, he will have enough sense not to wonder why the kids will appreciate their mom when they grow up over him. It's not rocket science. Your reap what you sow. |
