Correct! But while we await the religious tolerance, we need wisdom and simple sense in our heads! Here:
1. She's igbo and till now, she and her family still live in Kano with all the tension and friction between igbos and hausas right now in Nigeria...looks very s.t.v.p.i.d to me.
2. As she decided to keep living in kano in hausaland, she had no sense to know that she should shut up her mouth and face her business.
3. As she decided not to shut up her mouth and face her business, she decided that of all things, it is their prophet, Mohammed that she should be talking about.
4. As she decided to talk about their prophet Mohammed, she decided to say provoking things that they classify as blasphemy.
Now, do you see my point?
Can you tell us the "blasphemous words" she said?

I am sure the miscreants that killed this lady never heard her said those "blasphemous words", if any.

If you have ever witnessed mob actions in the core North, you'll have a different view.

The day a Hausa boy ran into my car was the day my dislike for Hausas began. I was attacked with different harmful objects ranging from knives, dagger, planks and metals. They didn't even bother to ask what happened or how it happened but immediately they saw the boy is an hausa and me from the south, they started throwing punches at me. The most stupid part and annoying part of this is the boy did not suffer any injury but they asked me to pay for his tea and milk. My face cap was seized, my wristwatch and glasses got lost, my tyres were punctured with dagger not even deflated. Sincerely those hausa people are animals. I have never been tribalistic in my life but this gave me a clear picture of how caution must be taken while dealing with them. I couldn't communicate clearly with them cos none of them can speak English clearly and I don't understand hausa language. It took the intervention of the brother the guy that ran into my car who told them they should allow me to go that nothing is wrong with his brothers they can see, not even a scar or mark on him.
Sincerely these hausa people need to be more tolerant with people of diffeternt ethnic, religion or believe that is different from theirs. I quite blame it on their illiteracy cos the more educated you're, the less aggressive and arrogant you become and you become suited in tolerating others.
Just pray you're not at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Do you know that someone can be unjustly killed in the North, for stepping on an old Arabic newspaper that is on the floor, if a fool calls it Quran?

I condemn mob action that has led to the death of the lady and commiserate with her family like most on this thread. I won't also shy away from speaking against her or any one who knows the sacredness muslims hold Allah, The Prophet (SAW) and the The Quran all over the world, yet year in year out continue to push this needless provocation. In as much as muslims should be admonished on the need to respect the law of the land, non muslims too should avoid such provocations. As we know no one who respects his/her father will insult another man's.

Most people do not even understand what they are reading, foreigners are asking you to devalue, for their own interest and not really Nigeria's interest. Quoting a part of the report " Foreign reserves dwindled as the central bank defended the peg, while foreign investors, fearing a devaluation, sold Nigerian stocks and bonds." This part I don't get, you thought we would devalue so you sold your Nigerian investment, and you are still asking us to devaluehuh
The issue we should discuss is what happens when we devalue:
If today CBN devalues naira from 199 to 300 naira per dollar what will be the ripple effect and consequencehuh Does who are against Buhari's currency policy should please shed light on this.
Definitely not in our interests. I don't see how devaluation will help us when there is nothing Nigeria is exporting to take advantage of the devaluation.

Things are worse already.

Let them peg d naira @ where it is already, we will wriggle out of the hardship somehow.

After all, we have been suffering and smilling.

Many people will quote me, but that is the simple truth, my only fear is the one they did last week, allowing the value of naira to dollar to be determined by the market forces.

I believe no one will want to contend with hyper inflation on goods alone, but that of services and wages remain as it is.
I am with you. I agree that devaluation at this time, is not in the interest of Nigeria. For me, the government should continue to fund essential sectors from the first tier forex and others should go to the parallel market. Even, remittance of foreign school fee should be removed from the first tier. I have children schooling abroad, so I am not unmindful of the implications of this.

I don't see how devaluation will help us when there is nothing Nigeria is exporting to take advantage of the devaluation.

Shariah is for only Muslims, Christians and other religions cannot be judged by the Shariah. That aside, Yoruba Muslims have been clamoring for Shariah even before the north. In essence, Shariah deals with almost every aspect of a Muslim, from his eating, wearing of cloths, entering toilets, etc
If shariah is truly for only Muslims, so how do you explain all these cases:

Rita Chinedu Ukeje V Sharia

Madam Jessy Ukeje, a 77-year-old grandmother from Eluoma Uzuakoli in Bende Local government area of Abia State, is in pains her granddaughter was given out in marriage by a top official of Zaria City Local Government area, without the consent of her family.Rita, an SS 3 student of Top Spring Secondary School, Zaria, Kaduna State, was abducted by a commercial bus driver, called Usman, who held her captive in his home, denying her the chance of sitting for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) she had enrolled for.

Few weeks later, she stated, the council chief, who took her to his home and promised to make her available for settlement with the family, allegedly gave her out in marriage to Usman. The incident happened in Damagaji area of Zaria in Kaduna State, even as every effort made by the family to rescue the teenage girl from the clutches of her abductors have met with stiff resistance from the kidnappers. They took her into captivity after undergoing their Muslim rituals of bathing and feeding her with concoction as a way of turning her into a Muslim.

Then, they gave her to somebody to marry without the consent and knowledge of her parents. This is certainly against religion and against tradition

Mama Jessy, who could not hold back tears while narrating the abduction of the girl in her house in Eluoma Uzuakoli, alleged further that the girl’s abductors are after Rita’s mother, Joy Ihedinma Ukeje, for insisting that Rita must be sent back to her. She alleged that they had been sending assassins to her, forcing her to quickly run back to Uzuakoli from Zaria after several attempts on her life.

Ifeoma Nichodemus v he Sharia Court Kaduna

IFEOMA, now Aisha, is the daughter of Mr. Ndubuisi Nichodemus. She was living with her parents, in the midst of the Hausa community in Zaria, Kaduna State, until May, 2014. On that fateful evening, Ifeoma had left the house in protest against the authority of her mother to question her for returning late to the house on the day. She simply walked out of her parents’ compound into a neighbour’s house, and since 21 months ago to be precise, the family is yet to set their eyes on her. Ifeoma, now 16, have been converted to Islam and married off. The Sharia Court handling the matter keeps adjourning the case and as a result, we are still where we were last year”
Speaking during an interview then, Ndubuisi Nichodemus, resident of Sabon-Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State, who appealed to the authorities concerned, to help rescue his daughter, allegedly in the custody of another man since 2014, said her daughter had come home late on that fateful day and felt, as responsible parents, she should be scolded

Christianity EtcRe: Should I Pay My Tithe Or Pay My Brother's School Fees? by cosade(m):
Does the teaching on tithing in Malachi 3:9-10 apply to us today?

http://www.gotquestions.org/Malachi-tithing.html

Answer: Malachi 3:9-10 is often used to teach the need for Christians to tithe to local churches today. That passage reads, “You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” Does this teaching apply to Christians today?

First, the context of this passage concerns the Israelites not bringing their offerings to the temple. Because of their disobedience, God had judged them with a small harvest. The Lord challenged them to bring the “full tithe” of grain sacrifices (Leviticus 6:14-23) and see that He would bless them with an abundance of future crops. The “storehouse,” mentioned in verse 10, is a place to store grain in the temple.

Second, this passage teaches that the Jews were to give a tithe as part of the temple worship, but it does not teach that Christians are to give to churches. Malachi was written more than 400 years before the start of the first church in Jerusalem. Applying its command of temple giving to the local church takes these verses out of their original context.

Are New Testament Christians commanded to tithe or not? To be clear, a tithe is literally a “tenth,” or 10 percent. Abraham gave a tenth of all he had to the priest of Salem in Genesis 14:20. Later, the Mosaic Law included commands to give a tenth for tabernacle worship. Tithing is mentioned 18 times in the Law, as the people were to share their produce and livestock to support the Levites, the caretakers of the tabernacle. This same system of tithing would later be applied to the temple (2 Chronicles 31:5).

Jesus rebuked the religious leaders of His day, saying, “But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others” (Luke 11:42). These Pharisees obeyed the Law of Moses in that they tithed scrupulously, yet did not truly love God. They were challenged to do both.

The Law was fulfilled in Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:17). When the church began to grow beyond the Jewish people and reach Gentiles, leaders struggled with whether or not to command these new believers to follow the Mosaic Law. In the end, only a few instructions were given for the sake of peace, but tithing was not among them (Acts 15:19-21).

The principle in the New Testament is to give voluntarily to support the needs of others (Acts 2:45; Romans 15:25-27), support Christian workers (1 Corinthians 9:11-12; 1 Timothy 5:18), and expand Christian outreach (Philippians 4:15-16). No specific amount is ever commanded, and no percentage is suggested. While a tithe or tenth of one’s finances may be a good standard to use for Christian giving, it is clear the early church did not focus on a specific amount but rather on meeting needs. This sometimes included giving much more than a tenth, as some believers sold homes or land to meet the needs that existed in the church (Acts 4:34-37).

Honestly I want to travel back to Nigeria soon. What do you think I should do here? Please note that I cannot apply for any visa now except I get a new passport. The closest Nigerian Embassy is in Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. I would be glad to get your different ideas and opinion on what i should do. I am thinking of booking a flight to Nigeria but I am scared the six months validity rule will affect me. Let me see your views and let me knw if you need additional information. God bless you as you reply.
It's only your country of origin that you're allowed to travel to with an expired passport. In your case, you have nothing to worry about, you even have six months validity!

@sholextron,
Pls keep us posted ....
NIS should not keep your old passport booklet on renewal, whether you have an unexpired visa in it or not. However, it is instructive to note that photocopies of the pages of the old passport should be attached to your renewal application. So it is possible that where the required photocopies are not attached, the NIS officer mischeaviously insisted on keeping the old booklet.

I have five expired passport booklets with me and travel mostly with the immediate old one and the current booklet, because of the unexpired UK visa in the old one.

Let genuine , creative and resourceful people arise out of this trouble to change the way we do business. Bloomberg does not have more interest in Nigeria than us Nigerians.
For those that are in support of devaluation of naira, they should answer PMB's question which is "What will Nigeria export more of ?" in order take advantage of the devaluation.

Basic economics I learnt in secondary school taught me that the purpose of currency devaluation, is to make the prices of your products cheaper so as to sell more overseas. We virtually export no products from Nigeria so devaluation would hurt the common man more.
