What can a person use that for?
The Doctor of Public Administration program is designed to provide senior-level public managers, or quasi-public managers, with the substantive skills, knowledge and values necessary in the field of public administration.

The program is meant for people well grounded in this area and those still thinking of what to do.

pls what's now the difference btw MSc in Public Health(which is an academic masters program) and Master of Public Health,MPH (professional masters) ?

for sm1 who wish to play in d public health sector with major NGOs and who intend to get a PhD after that, which is more appropriatehuh
In Nigeria, you're better off with an academic degree. You can have the best of the two worlds, NGO work and your Phd degree later. It's our mentality and it will take a long time to erase that.

Christianity EtcRe: Can A Born Again Christian Be A Traditional Ruler In Nigeria? by cosade(m): 7:08pm On Jul 03, 2016
ItsBolaji:
To answer the OP Christians can hold any position on earth, the bible even instructs us to 'subdue' the earth..... For example the former Akila Of Erin Ijesha was a Christian, member of the Christ Apostolic Church. (dead now) he stopped sacrifices to the river.... And if u want me to enlighten u about African (Yoruba) religion tell me I learnt a lot from Prof. 'Wande Abimbola....
Oba's Priestly duties

As a sacred ruler, the Oba is traditionally regarded by the Yoruba as the ex officio chief priest of all of the Orisha cults in his or her domain. Although most of the day-to-day functions of this position are delegated in practice to such figures as the Babalawos, certain traditional rites of the Yoruba religion can only be performed by the Oba, and it is for this reason that the holders of the title are often thought of as being religious leaders in addition to being politico-ceremonial monarchs.

There's no need dwelling on inanities and trying in vain to mask Yoruba bile-filled hatred, bitterness and utter disgust for Igbos desiring to have a separate existence.

For a long while now you lots have threatened war against Igbos. You promised yourselves to complete the annihilation of Igbos. You vowed to confiscate Igbo properties. You keep drumming, Igboland is landlocked, sea-locked, air-locked, sunlight-locked, gravity-locked and all what not just to attempt quench the raging IPOB tsunamic movement. Yorubas have systematically burnt Igbo shops and business premises. Yorubas have used every foul means to defraud Igbos of their hard earned monies. And you still have the guts to leave the myriads of problems bedevilling Yoruba tribe to grandstand in the public with unfounded theories against the Igbo Nation.

You and your Yoruba folks have used all tricks at your disposal to attempt to quench the call for self-determination and it's not working. Yet Igbos remain undaunted and are still pressing forward against all the odds to your consternation.

FYI, IGBOS DON'T NEED YORUBAS AND THEIR COTRAVELLERS TO SURVIVE.

Many Igbos don't want to share a country with you anymore and yet you keep creating unnecessary attentions for yourselves on the internet with baseless theories of absurdity to blackmail the Igbo Nation to pitch tent with you. Your chicanery is sickening already.

It will be honourable for Yorubas to channel their energies towards consolidating OduaArewanistan republic now before it's too late.

"For Lagos State, more than 70% of the manufacturing concerns and major industries in the State are owned by the Igbos. If the Igbos were to stop paying tax in Lagos State, the IGR of Lagos State will reduce by over 60%. In contrast, Sir, go to the South East and look at the manufacturing concerns in Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi. Please don't forget those were areas ravaged by civil war a mere forty something years ago. The Igbos have certainly made tremendous progress but the Yoruba nation has regressed. I wish to state that this letter is not meant to whip up primordial considerations or ethnic sentiments but just to put things in proper perspective."

You failed to understand the point the gentleman was making. In summary, he thinks because of the commercial nature of the Igbos they are better off in a country with a market of about 150m people. Why not stay in there and negotiate a better deal (restructuring) for the ethinic nationality? And that if the Igbos leave the Chinese would be too willing to fill up the space.

This policy is to reward corrupt parents (at the top) with lazy (spoilt and rotten) children. What is the purpose of the autonomy granted higher institutions, when they cannot conduct something as basic as post-UTME? By the way, how significant is N2,000 being charged as post-UTME fee?

With this type of policy makers in the Education sector, you don't need to search further for the reasons why standard of education is dropping in this country.

I know what you mean, but God is God. He is supreme. He can decide to appoint anyone in order to change the course of doing things. He does as He wills. Many of the so called yoruba or African traditions are of the devil, and as such cannot endure the test of time as you think.

We need God intervention in our society
Exactly what I meant by "long throat". Christians are not to dine with the "devil" but to resist the "devil". So continued stay of a born again Oba on the throne is greed. You can't belong to two religions (traditional and Christian) at the same time. Equally, a born again Prince (and true Moslem Prince) has no business aspiring to ascend the throne in Yorubaland.

Nothing is permanent in this world. Jesus is the king of kings. There is no need of being foolish to think that because ooni is the custodian of the yoruba culture then he should not acknowledge the truth which is in Christ Jesus.

Ride on wise king. Long live on the throne!
This what I will call long throat. You people don't know what Obaship entails.

I am Yoruba Prince and Christian, due to my Christian background I have never dreamt to be an Oba. Any truly born again Christian does not have any business being on that throne except for "long throat".

May the good Lord bless you with this graceful thought of yours on this issue.
I represent the southeastern region, Yes! incisively, I see no wrong on why the Ooni should be acknowledging Jesus as his father. Culture is quite different from religion. He can be a Christian, muslim, buddhist, atheist or even a pagan and still imbibe in the customs of his tradition.
Now to you wailing wailers...what were your expectations?? were you all staunch on your creed, that as a Nigeria traditional ruler, one is expected to be part and parcel of idol worshipping or whatever it is called?
the kingmakers and even the supposed gods were aware of his religious belief before he was chosen and appointed to take over the throne.
Now e clear for una eye...even the gods sabi say Jesus pass them. so you all should kindly pocket ya traps and let the Ooni reign to the glorification of the Lord's name.

Long live the king grin

Some people are so naïve. What is the big deal if Ooni said Jesus is his father. I was born and breed in Ife and ife is more or less a Christian environment not as some of the aliens view it. We have churches in every nook and crannies of Ile-Ife. The very king is a Christian right from the infant and it will be disastrous of him to forsake what u believe knowing fully well that the throne is temporary and heaven is permanent. God bless Ooni. He shall live long on the throne. Ade a pe Lori oba to mo Jesu.

It's quite unfortunate the kind of hate filled sentiments I have seen at play here just by going through the comments. A total disregard for human lives, no sympathy no empathy but just rantings because of a tribe.
We are all first of Nigerians! When you step out of the shores of this country, nobody knows us as either Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Ibibio or any other tribe. Your country of origin is what interests them not tribe...

You all swear at each other, tear each other down with words not properly thought of and just taunt mock eachother.
For how long would we keep at this senile attitude. You all have forgotten that no one here, I repeat again, no one here could choose where/ which tribe he or she was gonna be born into. So you Chike, could have been Ade, Musa could have been Edet, Halima could have been Adaeze...
I don't even know who to blame, whether our parents or we the youths ourselves.
Rest assured, I hope to make my country a more tolerant place for my children, a world without this amount of hatred among neighbours. So help me God!
May the Almighty God bless you.

cheesy cheesy cheesy "ijuba" is street language version my brother, it is actually called "osuba". I wish I have appreciation of the Igbo language to that level too. Happy Sunday.
PoliticsRe: Alaafin Of Oyo Shook Aisha Buhari Actually ( Photo) by cosade(m):

What I can see here is that Ma Aisha wanted to greet Pa Alafin with a normal handshake initially, but the Alafin respectfully and smilingly corrected her. That is why she corrected herself and brought forward two hands and now Alafin placed his on top.

*modified*
Besides, there's nothing out of place in what transpired between them there. Ma Aisha acted out of ignorance, not disrespect. And Pa Alafin acted out of decorum, not disapproval.
The Alafin in his own wisdom offered her "osuba" (fist) as a courtesy, which is a special way of greeting especially for female title holders.

In Yoruba tradition, when there is dispute between a married couple and the wife pleads with an "osuba" the husband should not reject such plea. That is the genesis of the song to the Almighty God.

Every human being has criminal tendencies no matter how little, it is the fear of being caught and punished that deter many.

There are high chances that crimes committed in advanced countries would be detected and prosecuted, unlike the impunity that goes on in the third world.

That is the difference.

like as if it's some kinda crime or pervert behavior for them to ask in the first place. I don't know why nature gave men a higher sexx drive; cos I know if the roles were reversed we would be seeing worse from the females.

it's almost as if they are subtly trying to emasculate our sexxuality.

most men even here in 9ja would stop pestering a woman once she turns them down....except in the rare occasions.

see how they've started calling the OP "hegoat " and "pervert" just because he asked a lady her number. The hypocrisy is sickening.
My brother, the bolded shows we are not on the same page on this. I didn't agree it's a crime to ask a lady out, but it becomes one when you can't hear the word "No" the moment she says it.

They probably called the OP "hegoat" because he did not respect the lady's office. His hotel room is the lady's office, an office should be a respectful work place.
When you go to Rome, they say you do as the Romans. Oyinbos no dey joke with sexual harassment and abuse.
