I represent the southeastern region, Yes! incisively, I see no wrong on why the Ooni should be acknowledging Jesus as his father. Culture is quite different from religion. He can be a Christian, muslim, buddhist, atheist or even a pagan and still imbibe in the customs of his tradition.
Now to you wailing wailers...what were your expectations?? were you all staunch on your creed, that as a Nigeria traditional ruler, one is expected to be part and parcel of idol worshipping or whatever it is called?
the kingmakers and even the supposed gods were aware of his religious belief before he was chosen and appointed to take over the throne.

Some people are so naïve. What is the big deal if Ooni said Jesus is his father. I was born and breed in Ife and ife is more or less a Christian environment not as some of the aliens view it. We have churches in every nook and crannies of Ile-Ife. It's quite unfortunate the kind of hate filled sentiments I have seen at play here just by going through the comments. A total disregard for human lives, no sympathy no empathy but just rantings because of a tribe.
We are all first of Nigerians! When you step out of the shores of this country, nobody knows us as either Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Ibibio or any other tribe. Your country of origin is what interests them not tribe...

What I can see here is that Ma Aisha wanted to greet Pa Alafin with a normal handshake initially, but the Alafin respectfully and smilingly corrected her. That is why she corrected herself and brought forward two hands and now Alafin placed his on top.
