Dollywood: You don't need to be there before you know the weather and how depressing it is. But never mind, I'll stop questioning yall since yall don't the ugly truth till you experience it. I don't know when you will grow up. But after you do, you need to realize that many people experience life different from your perspective. The weather you find cold and unbearable, some Nigerians love it. I know those who look forward to winter every single time. That people are different should be something not so difficult to understand. |

Lordswazz: A country that runs on such a level of corruption as though it’s oxygen or petrol can go nowhere but down, and this isn’t me being pessimistic; I’m just saying it the way it is. No person, organisation, or country can cheat their way into greatness.
How can you have so many unproductive and underproductive people “sorting” their way into unmerited positions across all levels of government and drawing monthly salaries from government coffers and still expect greatness as a nation? That’s like the robbery of the national treasury by most government workers. Your head just too correct |

I know she'll sort it out but just wanted to help as mother hen concern. Tell her to join the Muslim societies around her area. People often find a strong sense of community among their religious peers, regardless what nationality they come from. The downside is that she could become over-religious as she's still just a teenager. But if that's not your worry, it's a good option. |

Education › Re: Are Certificates Really Overrated? What I Saw In My Uncle's House by CountVersailles(f): 8:21am On Nov 20, 2021 |
NoApology: So one of my uncles that is based overseas is billed to come home this Xmas, as such a lot of cleaning and fumigation has been going on in his house in readiness for his come back.
I went this morning to supervise the work going on there. I went inside of the stores by the car house and saw this old metal cabinet and I decided to check what's inside. Lo and behold, I found in the midst of old paper files and debris my uncle's Nigerian certificates! Omo!
Rats has eaten some portions of the certificates. I scanned through and discovered that he was,by his Nigerian qualifications, below average. This is the same man that is an internationally sort after lawyer both in the country and overseas where he resides.
This got me wondering with so many questions on my mind: 1. Are certificates really overrated?
2. Does it really come a time in our lives (apart from death) when our certificates becomes irrelevant?
3. Is it not obsolete to measure ones intelligence based on exam performances? ( My uncle would have been jobless or better still a charge and bail lawyer at best going by his academic performance)
4. And why do Nigerians perform better in almost everything when the leave this country? Are we too stringent or is a reflection of our flawed system? What ever you make of yourself after school is hardly dependent on your school performance, but more on how you can sell yourself. A lot of third class people with big mouth are doing very well in real life. School is NEVER a measure of life performance. |

CSTRR: He built his wealth on the back of malpractice and corner cutting.
He unfortunately took lives along with him.
May the almighty give him all he deserves. The best response I've seen here so far. I don't know why everyone thinks he deserves pity. If he wasn't in that building and the building collapsed, taking the lives of those people with it, he would have still gotten away with it. As per Lagos big man levels. The only way nature thought to serve justice for his cutting corners and endangering the lives of others was to ensure that he was also in that building. Knowing the Nigerian justice system, nothing would have happened to him if he wasn't in that building. |

Dainy1: Honestly, I don't understand this. Is this an act of hypocriacy or what truth are they really hiding from us? They claimed marriage is not important, not for everyone, that you can stay single and be having children outside wedlock, so long as you can take care of them. Yet, they go about talking you down as soon as you're of age and have no wife/husband.
A girlfriend of mine in her late thirties just declared she's getting married and everyone is sharing her up, sending her congratulatory messages as if she has not been existing.
Does marriage really worth that hyping or what's so special about it that civilization is hiding from us? Why do you guys write English like this nau? |
Romance › Re: I'm Not Marrying Her: How DO I End This Relationship, All My Trap Has Faild Me by CountVersailles(f): 3:26pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Mylordmygod1: A beautiful afternoon to all nairalanders.
Firstly, my greatest fear when it comes to things of this world is 'women', That's why i don't want to break a womans heart in a way that i will be the one to recieve the blame.
I've been in a relationship with my girl for about 3years now, and each time my mum or friends ask me if i'm gonna marry her, my answer is always a capital letter NO.
Now, my mum is warning me to better let her go since i don't have the interest of marrying her. But the hard part is that i'v been promising this girl that i will marry her even when i'm 100% sure i won't marry her, and i don't no how to go about ending the friendship now.
Recently, i've been picking offences for minor isues, getting angry with her for no reasons, trying to give her signal, but none seems to be working, and its now like my anger is her source of happiness these days.
I really want to end the friendship now, but i want the blame to be on her side and not mine, how can i go about it?
ADVICE ME WELL
Thanks. |

It is making me think that Nigerians are not as poor as they claim, they just want to play pity party. This has led to some business people hiking prices for no reason because they know they will still enjoy patronage. |

I ask myself this same question a lot. I've not seen it happen once that commuters, for example, will protest hike in transport fares by trekking and actually showing these danfo buses who's boss. In America, black people started walking as a form of protest to segregation in buses. Na beg dem beg dem las las to please come back. |

Not one but two children from the same ex . It will take a lot to restrain myself from murder or reconfiguring her face, if I was the husband in this case.
The story of how they met and got married was such a simple but sweet one, what justification does she have for such deceit and betrayal? There are certain lengths I am not willing to go to, even as a single woman (in a relationship) E dey shock the kind lengths some married women go to. The problem is typically that many of these women are unable to convince themselves to move on from the person they really loved after meeting another person who wifes them. They just can't move on. I don't know why. |
