In what ways are you making it without a man? Like what do you see of yourself in the next five years removing marriage or anything man from the picture. A car? A house? A thriving business? Money in the akant? Most ladies I know are just living and doing all they can till the marriage comes, without it, they can't really see themselves past that moment when they think they should be married.
As hard as this is to swallow, you're spitting facts...

A barren woman must be blessed then... grin

I guess one other way for a woman to save herself from future suffering in marriage, is to ensure she WON'T have any children – at least this option is 100% under her control.
Politics › Re: Sentiments Aside, Is Ngozi Okonjo More Qualified Than Her Korean Counterpart? by crackhaus:
All this talk about who is more qualified is irrelevant. If NOI was not qualified enough for that position, she would never have gotten this far.

At this point, the only thing that matters is who the candidates (and their countries) are allied with when it comes to trade and even generally – and for this reason, a South Korean will always top a Nigerian in the eyes of the US.
Protecting vested interests is what matters, no more no less.

***
Good one Ratedgang, but please get rid of the thought behind those sentences I struck out.

Ratedgang:
I think this decision is driven by the USA- China trade conflict. USA will be more comfortable with a South Korean candidate than an African candidate considering China hold on Africa countries presently. Barak Obama, a black man, prevented Dr. Ngozi from becoming the World Bank president in 2012 by supporting a South Korean Candidate. It will always be about policy for any America president. They are not like our leaders driven by emotions or ego .

I believe it is a political economy decision by the USA. [s]Mrs Ngozi is a register member of the Democratic party in the USA which is China friendly at the momemt. The Republican party in power will not support a candidate that is not in alignment with Trump trade policy.[/s] The South Korea candidate from a political economy view will be more in alignment with Trump trade policy considering America relationship with South Korea. This is also why China supported Mrs Ngozi over a South Korean candidate because of Africa trade relationship with China. It has nothing to do with hatred for black or Nigeria but simply a political economy decision. Nigeria government should also apply same principle when going into international trade agreement.

The USA needs to clarify why China supported her and Dr Ngozi needs to show to the USA that America interest will be protected. It is a political economy decision.

IamD18:
The likes of Desmond Elliot, Yahaya Bello and Elisha Abbo have so many times proven the fact that an average Nigerian youth is no different from the old men in the Government.

They've so many times proven that corruption in Nigeria isn't just about our aged politicians but a general thing.

We saw how our various SUG officials operated in school, how coursereps, lodge presidents and the rest operated. We all saw the corruption there. If you think this generation will politically do better than this current aged politicians, then you are clueless.

An average Nigerian is tribalistic, oppressive, selfish and corrupt. It's in almost all the sectors in this country and it'll take decades for this country to be free from the aforementioned.

Know this and know peace.

And just so you know; 98.485% of Nigerians condemning Desmond Elliot will do the same, they'll rather choose the interest of their political mentors and Godfathers who will politically help and connect them than the interest of the masses.

It is not surprising that many people don't understand that the US is bigger than any incumbent president, Trump or no Trump, the US would do everything in its power to safeguard and protect its interests. If Mrs Okonjo, does not align with the US interests, it stands to reason that they would oppose her.
World politics is a dirty game, it is similar to Nigerian politics, the only difference is that we don't get to hear or see the exchange of money, bribes etc that go on, partly because, the whites are a little smarter, in such areas.
WTO DG, IMF president, World bank president, UN Secretary general etc all these positions have a lot of politicking, give and take, bribery, intimidation, threats etc that go on behind the scenes.
Vested interests from countries, Fortune 500 companies, billionaires etc are all pushing their own agendas, sometimes using proxies and the media.

Always take what you see or hear on the news with a pinch of salt
You're so accurate

Will you condemn her like this if she were your sister?
God forbid I have a sister like her, I will beat the questionable character out myself...

I don't believe it has to do with Trump, rather I believe the problem is that Nigeria is not a reliable ally. This was manifested when they voted in UN.
Simple, and thank you...

My plan was simply to drop my comment and abandon this thread as the ignorance is too much to start correcting one by one.

In what universe will the United States ever pick a Nigerian over a South-Korean, a SOUTH-KOREAN... seriously? cheesy

Apart from Japan, South-Korea is another strong ally of the US in Asia and the fact that they are more allied with the United States than their cousins in neighbouring China, makes them the strategic choice when you consider the trade war between China and the US.

It has nothing to do with Donald Trump – just a matter of strategic alliance and reliability in the long run.
An Obama-led government would take this same position, even Biden-led one would do the same.

The way lots of you keep assuming that this has anything to do with Donald Trump, is quite funny.

Do you really think that even if it were under an Obama (a black man with African ancestry) presidency, the US would back her?

Unbelievable...

Start to tell yourself you are a loving child of God , create time for yourself , go out, meet new friends, play with kids and you will feel loved and feel like them. Now, get a good girl that truly love Christ and has some of his qualities like kindness, sweetness, good and happy nature, playful and loving and you will come back to thank me. God bless you ferlis

It is unbelievable that such an extreme case of combined silliness can be found in just one person.

The same girl who visited her future MILs house for the first time with crazy dressing, also entered their kitchen and transformed food into poison.
And to add salt (pun intended) to injury, this same poorly brought-up specimen of a woman then disappears from the house without bidding farewell to her hosts – like a thief in the night.

Lacks courtesy.
Lacks character..
Completely self-absorbed...

To crown it all, she is still avoiding calls from her bf on top of her own fück up... probably trying to play the typical 'innocent victim' script to garner some pity.

And to think that guy is begging her, is what I don't understand. He's probably the type who can get carried away by beauty and big yansh when every other attribute is zero.

***
If she really wants to change and be a better woman, she should start by going to apologize to that guy's mother PERSONALLY over her disrespect and lack of courtesy. Although I feel this might be a little too late as most Nigerian mothers only need to meet a girl once to form lasting opinions about them.

The good thing about apologizing is she would have done right by her self, and maybe improved her chances of being accepted back into that home as a possible "future" DIL.
At least she didn't burn down the house when she was left in the kitchen, that should count for something.

Politics › Re: Imagine Them Being Our President And Vice President by crackhaus: 5:33pm On Oct 28, 2020
These are technocrats, NOT politicians.

In a democracy, it's more common for politicians to occupy such positions but they will surround themselves with technocrats (ministers, SAs, SSAs, ambassadors, cabinet members, etc.)

Although there have been times when a technocrat-led system of government became successful (eg. The Soviet Union), the trick however is that it can only be that successful in a communist type of government, hardly in a democratic one.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Treaty Banning Nuclear Weapons To Enter Into Force by crackhaus: 4:20pm On Oct 26, 2020
This comes off very silly by just reading it cheesy

The US had written to treaty signatories saying the administration of US President Donald Trump believes they made “a strategic error” and urging them to rescind their ratification.

The letter, obtained by The Associated Press news agency, claimed the new treaty was “dangerous” to the half-century-old Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, which sought to prevent the spread of nuclear arms beyond the five original weapons powers.
To be honest, if the United States had the power, they would even ensure they are the only country on earth with nuclear weapons – that's how fearful they are of losing their dominance on the world. cheesy
Family › Re: The Hate For Single Moms by crackhaus:
The issue I usually have with people like the OP who try to make a case for single-mothers and of course some of the single-moms themselves, is that y'all try to guilt-trip people into accepting you as you are.

Just because one is a single-mother does not mean she is entitled to some special consideration, or love, or desire... I don't get that logic.

And what you call HATE is not really hate, that's a needless exaggeration. It's not even dislike – I'd rather refer to it as choice, a personal choice which everyone has a right to.
Whether you like or don't like a person's choice, is entirely your own problem. You don't get to dictate what people should choose to associate with, that's just typical "snowflake" behaviour.

***
– People avoid sugar to reduce the risk of diabetes.
– People avoid saturated fats to reduce the risk of high cholesterol.
– People avoid single-mothers to reduce the risk of a complicated life.

It's quite simple really at the end of the day, because the same way those who avoid sugar and saturated fats don't HATE sugar or foods with saturated fats, this is the exact same way those who avoid single-moms don't HATE them.
It's all about self-preservation, no more no less...
