ifihearam: If Nigeria is habitable for businesses with every good thing in place, what gives common Ghana the effrontery to tax us 300k$$ before starting up a business. The most annoying thing is that ghana only have steady power supply that's phuckin all.Guy, read well. The article said '$300K capital base', not tax. I know d word 'tax' gives most Nigerians headaches, yet we want everything good. |
Why does this man only prophecy doom? The biblical prophet used to carry message(s) from God. And they will proffer solutions. E.g: When Jonah went to Nineveh. As much as I hate the present set of thieves call Politicians practicing "Lootocracy" in this KUNTry, I believe what God said through Prophet Ezekiel: "As I live, I have no pleasure in the death of a wicked man, rather, let him turn from his evil ways and live....." (Ezek.33:11) TB Joshua should preach repentance to his ELITE CLIENTS and not bother with doom prophecy. |
Naija has gone to dogs. GEJ n DICKson are just jokers. Do they really think? GEJ, soon I will denounce you as my uncle. |
ikee: Not only Nigerian Ladies, but african as a whole. There's a saying that if you want to hide anything from a black man, put it in a book. He will never read it. We all need to change from this deadly habitI agree with U. But the way @OP asked his question didn't reflect that most book(including e-books) contains wisdom, rather as if e-books are status indicator. I think NL has been invaded by juveniles. |
Why are we Nigerians so petty about things? So buying e-books has become a status thing now? Hmmmmm, I weep for the 'future'. |
Some responses to this thread makes me feels that we have no hope for a better future in Nigeria. Is either we are too temperamental to reason or we just ignorant of why rules and laws are made in a state. Must we always defend our lawless nature? So for a country to enforce their law, it is jealousy yet we want our leaders to be accountable and transparent? |
vanstanzy: We need attitudinal change, GBAM! And guess what? Curious_city will spear-head it. Those for say YEAH, and those against say NAY. The YEAHS' have it. BAM!!!I know U are being sarcastic ![]() Even if I spear-head, will u follow? I'm doing my share in my own little way. We all need to do something to change the mad rush to get rich over-night. But I tell ya, it is not easy.U will be called names!! But it pays to have a clear conscience!! |
Nigerians, very insensitive to others!!! Once people are one step ahead of others on the ladder of life, they want to see those below them crushed to death. I hope those clapping for this ill-thought and blanket ban won't have the need to ply okada in their life. And that there is no known person(relative, friend, neighbor) who uses this as a source of livelihood. Talk of misplaced priorities!! |
re@lchange:Why are some supposed educated people too temperamental n abusive? U could make a valid argument with d OP without calling him names. Ur level of education is mostly seen in ur words n character b4 the certificate U carry. That ur ID says 'realchange' is a big paradox. |
Lakayana: You are a typical Nigerian so i will forgive your mindset.Don't mind the guy. He's the type who doesn't consider pilfering as a sin/crime. |
Most of us response as if the gov't is a different set of persons from me, U, our Dads/mum, uncles, aunties, brothers n sisters. 90% of us Nigerians have the tendency to get rich quick given any opportunity. We find every avenue to cut corners and evade due process. Go to any office where most of us work, U'll see "man know man", line shunting, greed, etc. Our leaders portray the general and larger sickness in Nigeria. Even in some families, Husbands and wives are not transparent to themselves. We need attitudinal change!! |
mickjagger: Canada is a country with no jobs for new immigrants, regardless of however suitably qualified they are, young or senior. Even the simple blue-collar jobs are hard to find. But most of the immigrants are highly educated in their respective fields. They have migrated to Canada with the hope of being able to land at least something close to their white-collar professions left behind. And you have all the job flying around here in Nigeria?? |
olajide_07: Going through the whole posts it just occurred to me that in 1979, the exchange rate of the naira to the pound was £1= 0.60k, a dollar was far less, the canadian dollar was no where to be found, our economy was on top, we had potentials of aligning ourselves a par with theses countries, people didn't need piles and loads of documentation to travel abroad, so many fortunate people whose parents left for canada left because U.I and IFE, didn't admit them, so many lecturers were sent on sabbatical because they needed to exchange, and further more develop their intellectual base, now our governments over time and the years, have failed us, to the point that we have to apply for 1-3years to be given skilled "mai nene" visa, some come and brag about it, where as they have contributed in any bit or manner, to the development of nigeria, they want to come back and become ministers and D.G because they have gone to acquire foreign certifications some even praise those countries because they have light and water as if we can't do the same if just if, we had the right people in place, the descendants of Prof magnous kpako the formal S.A to the president of nigeria on poverty eradication was collecting millions and billions for pilot projects which never brought direct development, rather "keke Napep", where other countries where bring in toyota motors to assemble cars, that are economically viable, they designed un-implementable models for the nigerian state, only to come here collect all our moneys (salaries and allowances) to pay their mortgages outside nigeria and their school fees debts, some lie to themselves that foreign countries are better then nigeria because of ephemeral issues which could have been solved if the leaders even gave a direction of where they want nigeria to go, we all want the best for ourselves but are these conditions where racism exist directly or indirectly the best for us? The question is where and what did we do wrong? What did yours and my fathers do wrong that has made us reach this level were we que to get out of nigeria? What are we still doing wrong?Your post seems twisted to a level. So from your last paragraph, Not paying bills/tax is the best form of benefit? U see? that is why Nigeria rarely works. Most of us in Nigeria don't pay tax except U work in the civil service or blue chip coys, but these taxes is what brings development and basic amenities assuming gov't is transparent. But U and me know that an average Nigerian is thinking of how to outsmart others n take his share of "national cake". Nigeria will only work when we change our value system and stop worshiping money and material wealth and also respect the rights of others. Stop blaming your father/forefathers, rather blame our greed and myopic materialism which is what makes people run abroad expecting to turn to a millionaire overnight. Also, unnecessary pride and arrogance will continue to keep us in the dark. We castigate anyone doing better that us rather copying what they are doing well. Can't we see our mistakes and correct them rather than blame those who chose to seek shelter elsewhere rather die of hunger, insecurity, road mishaps? |
factbox: curious city! forget d fact dat i'm a student buh i meet citizens everyday here and i know wat's up no problem. u seem like someone dat will understand a bit of wats going on abroad but remember i was very independent even from back home, also so can make little change after skool buh BILLS WILL SUCK IT UP FROM U AT D END OF D MONTH. pls PEEPS dont always think life is better in some places than others evry place have their own pros and cons..............I understand when U said U were independent here in Naija. But U made Ur choice to move there and it's for a good purpose IMO. About our youths being creative, most naija youth are very creative and intelligent. But, our system does not encourage creativity. Our value system has changed from dignity of labor, integrity and respect for human to Money and material wealth. Hence, the mad rush to make as much money as u can irrespective of the means. Now, creativity is most time in the negative direction. We need our institution to work(like electric power, transportation, education etc) the give us 10 more yrs we'll go places. But I still believe more opportunities abound where U are. just get done with school, U can be hire from any part of the world. How many people get hired in Nigeria from companies in foreign lands? |
factbox: GUDDYLOVER! u can't understand, just because i'm still skooling does not mean i'm blind to what ppl are going tru arround me. little is enough for d wise. I PRAY U ARE GRANTED CANADIAN VISA SO DAT U CAN COME AND PERFORM SOME MIRACLES. I HAVE BEEN EXPECTING A REPLY FROM DOUBTING AND STURBBORN THOMAS LIKE U THOUGH. best of luck in ur abroad mission. I REST MY CASE. ONE MORE THING! FOR UR INFORMATION ppl abroad are more frustrated than u do anyways. My sister, cool down!! Emotionally, Nigeria is better than Canada because of the communal life here in Naija. We could hang out with friends freely(that was when security was sure), unlike the individualistic lifestyle in Canada. But in every other indices, Nigeria is a dwarf where Canada is. When U say people are suffering, aside Heaven(for those who will make it), No where in this world is without its challenges. As a student, after 6month of continuous studies U can get a work permit n work off-campus. Can U do that in Nigeria? How about part-time job which lots of people are surviving with? Can U even see that in Nigeria? In terms of amenities, don't U use what U pay for well? To pay ur electric bill and see or remain in darkness with pocket full of money, which do U prefer? Abi U want to start sending money home even as a student? Nigeria and Canada have 2 different value systems, so adjust accordingly. Don't despair Please, U have a bright future a head. |
canadaik: i find your post interesting, i am a permanent resident and i live in Manitoba and although i have not had much reason to go to hospitals but to the best of my knowledge i think health care is completely free and you only have to pay for drugs, although there are private facilities around if you can afford them, but the public system is pretty standard. the fact is that canada is not heaven, but it is way better to live than most places in the world, if you have things around you right, like being a permanent Resident, and have good friends and a good job, live in canada can be amazing!Guy, leave @factbox alone. She is a lady.Maybe she thought people dash out money in Canada like in Naija. So she is shocked to pay for her drinks/food when she has a date. That is part of the cultural shock. That she pays little health insurance as an international student is what she lamenting. Assuming she is to pay for consulting and lab work(the minimum a Dr takes per visit is ~$30). @factbox, today is Canada Day, pray and thank God for the country to continue in a system that works and also reflect how U can help produce working n transparent institutions in naija when U return. |
AjanleKoko: Point of correction there.OK, thanks for the correction. Maybe I should say why do most Nigerians wish to leave Nigeria. The 1% U are referring is of the total population. Can U find the % of literate and exposed Nigerians like most graduates. After all, I wouldn't expect my illiterate grandma to apply for visa. Get 10 of your friends/relatives and introduce them to how to get US visa, then come back and confirm ur statistics. Or wait till October when the US visa lottery is out. BTW how many Canadians apply for Nigerian Visa per annum? The point I was trying tell U, is that U were biased in ur previous post. |
kunlaxo: Bros..All that glitters are not GOld..in same canada same people enjoy good road network..health facilities..best cars BUt no money in the pocket..all they they live on is credit card and crunch..debts and loan of all kinds..they cant even afford to maitain more than one car or even build a 2 Bedroom apartment in nigeria supports their family member back home and when they die of cold they get sent back home on nothing.i just lost a friend last 2months died of cold.Typical naija mentality. So now money defines success and quality of life? This mentality of getting money and showing it is what is driving most of us to early graves in Nigeria.Let half of what U name here, like being able to buy things on credit, happen in Nigeria, and we'll say it is heaven on earth. At least Canadians are not lining up foreign embassies for visa like we do. Is there any foreign embassy in Lagos and Abuja that we don't line up for visa? Let's be sincere to ourselves, WHY DOES EVERYONE WANTS TO LEAVE NIGERIA? |
U try!! Make WAEC give U registrar one time!! |
Kaiiii, I knew I was in for a good laugh when I posted this. And you guys have not disappointed me at all.lol!! Abeg, keep them coming!! |
What are the differences between these statements? a) I LOVE U. b) I LOVE TO LOVE U c) I LOVE LOVING U. My female colleague in the office keep telling me these every weekend. She says they mean different things but I don't know. Can someone explain? |
slimyem: am i the only one who thinks the op is male fronting as a female....and that this is a kinda scam in process?U are 100% correct!! Most persons on NL do not think beyond the screen in front of them. The poster is a sick guy just seeking attention or someone to dupe. |
jossy26: Nice piece chioma, but in a case whereby you have your agreement, survey plan, building plan and the approval and have already apply for the c of o which takes years to come out(mind you not all houses have these) can't they giv the loan with all these documents?Good point!! It's sad when every basic function of the government(like paying salaries on time) is counted as achievement of a governor/president. What are their duties if we have to praise them for doing these basic things? Who praises me when I do my cleaning work which is also basic? @topic, I think all these hassles/bureaucratic bottlenecks could minimize if we have standard database where people could be identified n traced thereby reducing the risk of running away or changing names with d loan. I think that is why the banks insist on C of O. |
joe4christ: Just a word for you You dont know christ! Guy, don't worry we'll know on the resurection morning. This is what we Nigerians know best, abusing persons instead of discussing facts. Why didn't you give me points to prove that this satire the guy wrote 'mocks' God or the bible? Christ said "by their fruits you shall know them", not by their words. Get a life bro!! Some of us christians are why unbelievers make a mockery of Christ, not by our professing Christ but but our deeds and misdeeds. Let God be the judge!! |
eagle on earth: hey y'all none of u should dare make jest of God 4 He is a Consuming fire.BEWARE!!!Leave God out of this!!! Check your personal life with God before the fire descends on U. Appreciate creativity when you see one. The last time I checked, christian means follower of Christ n not hypocrite in the name of Christ. |
I hate it when Christians make a mockery of Christianity by equating this write-up to the bible. Where in the whole writing did the writer mention God or even paraphrased any portion of the bible? I bet none of you calling for his head know the history of what is today called the Bible. By your standard, most of Shakespearean works are equally "a mockery of bible" because they use similar language with original King James version of the bible. Everyday I get more evidence to believe that we are just empty hypocrites:While we quickly attack anyone that mentions the bible or questions our Pastor(s), our personal(private) lives are hundreds of miles away from the principles that Christ taught while on earth, |
@OP, If the main concerns for your sister is getting more money to take care of her responsibilities, I will suggest she learns a trade(skills). Fortunately, she is in the western world. Though I don't know much of UK, but in North America, some skills attract more $$/hr that some MSc degrees. Skills she can consider(if applicable in UK) include:Wielding/fabrication,Plumbing,furniture making, etc But, if her concerns is getting fulfilled with a degree(just to answer a graduate), then she is still young for it. In 2010, I had a man who was already 45 year taking 1st year chemistry in my class. He was always punctual and meticulous in all he did. In fact his presence made a positive in my life as a teacher. |
For some people to bash the @OP for opening this thread and asking for idea shows how self-centered and pathetic we Nigerian are. Most of us think things we do are so right until we become victims then we cry wolf. Someone even compared it to 'overseas'. I doubt if that person have been to a developed country before. If s/he lives in a developed world, he should do a rough estimate the ratio of the people around him that he sees displaying cell phones compared to Nigeria. We are just naively arrogant about everything we do(especially the wrong ones)!! |
Nice looking kids!! Abeg Desmond Ediot, this 4 don do oooo. No score again oooo |
I have not seen a direct and sincere preacher like this man in the past 13yrs of so-called democracy. Whether GEJ said amen or not, the point is this man said the raw truth. |
I love this. If the load capacity you are posting here are accurate, then I need to start saving for my panel in d nxt few months. |
