The cars were not imported but made (assembled) in Nigeria. To inform you, Nissan too has a factory that assemble cars in Nigeria just like IVM. Peugeot also.

Thanks OP... I recently filled the gas for the AC of my car and its working fine but my belt started giving this squeaking sound. It doesn't do this always but once in a while when I start the car or when I am just about to move. It does so for some seconds and then stops. Although the noise comes on when you switch on your AC (its the compressor that kicks to life) but I don't think it has anything to do with the filling of your AC. Its the belt. Either the belt is a bit slack or a bit tight.

When I changed my belt and that squealing noise started, all I did to quench the noise from my belt was to apply grease on the teeth of the belt all through. I did that for 3 straight weeks (once a week) and the noise totally disappeared. I don't know if that is proper but 18 months down the line and the belt is still working perfectly.

This is a good move by the Borno state government. But before the government begins to throw erring parents into jail, it must ensure that they are adequately sensitized to the benefits of education.

This is also a way of sensitizing them. I'm sure they will still go over the radio, tv and other conventional sensitizing methods in due course.

In as much as your submission is valid, you have to understand the President cannot be at the burial of all fallen soldiers each and everytime they die. That is the job of the Chief of Army Staff as he's the boss of the soldiers and not the President.

Let me explain to you, if our President(s) decides to be physical present at the burial of each soldier, the day he has other engagements (you know our President(s) are busy people) and cannot be there during the burial of the next soldier, that may be demoralising as its going to be said that the President deliberately missed the burial.

Even when America fought in Iraq, former President Bush wasn't at (all) the burial of all their soldiers.

The highest the President can do and should do is to visit the soldiers at the war front and he should do that without delay so as to encourage them. That action will be a real morale booster.

I had a "no debit order" places on my corporate account some months ago as a result of an inconsistency in my personal accounts information.

Assuming I went to the bank or tried to do an online transfer from my phone while the embargo was still placed on my account (which I did severally from my phone but was declined). My bank didn't raise an alarm because EFCC was not involved in my own case. So you see that its very possible.

But take for example, you live in a neighbourhood filled with thieves and bad elements. Your house has no gate and is at a risk of visitation by those criminal elements, and you have small money to buy food at home. Will you only buy food to keep at home forgetting that when you buy the food, those criminal elements will come to our house to rob you and therefore prevent you from enjoying your small food?

I tire for our governments. From one government to the other, we are continually sinking.

Why there is a wide disparity between FG exchange rate and black market is as a result of government's invisible hold of its own exchange rate. They claim to have floated but that's not totally correct. What we have is a semi float.

Let's say I'm looking at medium term and not short term. You and I know that long term can take like forever or never in Nigeria especially when another government gets into power.

My point is let's take considerable steps (medium term steps) as we work towards the long term.

Nigeria is not yet an ideal society where all things are equal/will be equal.

If the naira is allowed to float freely,definitely it will reach a peak of about 700 ,then importation will be totally discouraged because ppl won't be able to buy imported goods,local production of agricultural produce will increase as that will be the only alternative ,dollars wont be scarce as it is now .without anyone manipulating it ,the demand for dollars will automatically drop since many importers will be forced to stop . There is no 2 ways to beat this problem but to start producing and you can never produce when you can get the same thing at a cheaper cost else where than ur own high cost ones.

I understand your point but you think its as easy as just increasing price without putting something in place? Importation isn't bad in it self but reliance on importation is what is bad, which is the position we find ourselves in.

In an ideal situation, your strategy is the way out but Nigeria's situation is not normal. The way you have painted it on paper is sweet but you and I know that putting it in reality is the difficult part.

We have just semi-floated a while ago (then we got into a recession. Although that's not the cause of the recession but you and I know it had an impact on it) we should wait for that to bring the desired and expected results and when that has happened we can then move on to the next stage.

Once again I agree with you but what I don't agree with you on is the timing. In my opinion, a free float should be carried out say in the next 18 - 24 months depending on how this semi float and the market responds (coupled with ending the recession, less dependency on importation as a result of us starting to produce many things).

If the CBN dare allow a true float, then Nigeria will be doomed and everything will grind to a halt in the short run. Is it now that we still don't produce anything and all we do is import or the speculators who have warehoused dollars waiting to further attack our Naira. Are you aware that Nigerians have almost $20b in their domiciliary accounts? With that amount to play around with, then the naira is going to be totally murdered. Or is it the price of fuel that will shoot so high? Or the terrific spike of inflation beyond levels we have never witnessed before?

In as much as your advise is truly the best way out but with how Nigeria is currently, it is going to be the worst way out. We should get out of recession first, start producing something in Nigeria for export, decrease dependence on the dollar then can we now allow the naira to float to heaven or to hell.

There is no official age to start paying tax. I guess you're thinking its 18 and above but its not so. If you earn profit or income then you are liable to pay tax.

Take for example, If a 1 year old child whose parents bought a property and registered it in his/her name. If the parents sell the house and make a gain on it, it is expected that the child (since its the kid's name on the property) pays tax. Tax laws doesn't recognise minors. If you make profit, then you definitely must pay tax...

As for you, at 26 years old, haven't you worked with an organisation (either private or government) before now??

Maybe you seem to forget or you're not aware that this is Africa and not North America or Europe. Africa as we all know is a undeveloped/developing place. Even South Africa that you will say is ahead of Nigeria don't have the level of database obtainable in the two mentioned continents.
