SELFWORTH: I take it you are training to be a Jet-acquiring Pastor too. Ode!!!! Ode!
Hahaha, I have no need for a private jet, neither do I seek to pastor any congregation. I'm just striving to let my life be an example of a good Christian and disciple of Christ. I no holy pass my brother.

I'll also choose to ignore your petty insults.

otokx: ^^^ That dude is a Nigerian.
No sir, you are the Nigerian. Nigerians are very apt at that. Blame the government for not providing for the masses. Curse the pastors for not helping the poor. Yet you just bought an 80k Blackberry when your neighbour can't pay 30k for his kids school fees.

"it is well. I will pray for you. This government is bad" you tell your neighbour and you think you are better than your jet cruising pastor?

I'd rather talk to the man in the mirror. Even Jesus preached about removing the speck in your eyes before removing the jet..., sorry, log in another's eye.

kokoA: wtf is this? Smh! Dude are you for real?
Read my first line again. I'm not saying buying jets is okay. Instead, I'm saying what kind of Christianity are we ALL practicing? So, the pastor is in the spotlight and you are not. That's the only difference.

How many can sell their houses, land, cars, plasma TV's, I-pads etc to help the poor. Or is that the exclusive preserve of pastors?

cold: What sort of warped logic is this? Do you hear anyone accusing Dangote or any business man on how he spends his money? These business men are free to do with their money as they please. But when you choose to take on a calling that epitomises modesty & humility shouldn't you be a shining example of what you preach? The same so called men of God who continue to tell anyone who cares to listen that this world is not our home, we're just passing through. And admonish us to store our treasures in heaven (where ever that is) are not patient enough to wait for eternity to get there. No!They want to acquire & accumulate everything now because in all honesty they know no such place exists and even if it does they'll never get there.
So let me reiterate, your line of argument I dare say is (and I choose my words carefully) a stu pid one
Call it stupid if you will, you are entitled to your opinion. But if it were Dangote or Otedola the arguement would be that their wealth is as a result of government patronahe or they would be labelled as fronts for politicians.

Question is, where in the Bible does it say that only "men of God" are expected to be an epitome of modesty and humility and be a shining light to others? All Christians owe that duty to their faith and their God. How many Christians practice the same message they are preaching here? But I don't expect you to understand my point.
Christianity Etc › Re: Oritsejafor Gets Private-Jet As Birthday Gift From Church Members-(pics) by dabossman(m): 1:02pm On Nov 11, 2012
Though I do not support the use of private jets by pastors and politicians, I dare to say that most of us are just as guilty as the folks we are pointing fingers at. Only in varying proportions.

You pay 2 million naira and above as rent p.a in Lekki/Ajah when you can pay 800k in Gbagada or 400k in Egbeda. That's an extra 1.2 million you could have used to help the needy.

You buy an SUV or saloon car at 3 million naira and above when you can get a clean tokunbo at about 1million. That's 2million naira you could have used to grade that your bad and bumpy street instead of waiting for government. Your community would be grateful.

You pay 11k monthly for DSTV Premium so you can watch premiership football when there is DSTV Family at 3k and Access at 1.5k. That extra 8-10k can feed a poor family for a month.

You wear designer clothes when there are cheaper options, go to the movies every week, spend 20k monthly flying okada when you can take a bus and you think its not a luxury? Ask those who can't afford any of these.

We can all afford to give more to charitable causes than the 1k, 5k, 10k or 100k we give now if we scale down on some of these "luxuries", but we all love a little more comfort. Aren't we all just as "guilty?"

femonaija: You call it wimping Sentiments ... With no intent of insult Segun, i say you do not have good customer relations. Don't think you are doing your clients any favor. Customer satisfaction should be ones priority in business. It is not about the 2k, even if it is 1 naira at least i paid for a service and deserve to complain if i am not satisfied. I have spent more than 2k to mobilize other agents because of there good customer relations and i can recommend them anytime but with you i will have second thought.
You said and i quote IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED IN ANY PROPERTY, COME AROUND AND CHECK THE ONES WE HAVE. Kindly listen to this statement of yours and imagine on how it sounds if you were the client. Guess a little bit of humility is required in every job one does.
femonaija, abeg free Segun o. The guy tries his best, and I will say that he is not a bad agent. He is quite better than some guys I've met. However, I do agree that he sometimes misconstrues the fact that a client doesn't like a particular property for certain reasons to mean that they are making excuses. Every client as a right to turn down an apartment for any reason, no matter how "flimsy" it may seem. After all, at the end of the day they will be the ones living there, not the agent.

Segun does a fairly good job, and I will recommend him any day, but he does have to stop taking things personal. It's business and good customer relations is very important.

and the biggest one in England by a
LANDSLIDE
How delude can u get. Can you provide evidence to prove this? Or u think England is Nigeria where most people support one of Arsenal, Chelsea or Man U. United can barely claim to control the fan base in the City of Manchester. If you had said Asia, I would have agreed. But England? Hell no!
HOW ON EARTH IS DAVID GILL
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF MANCHESTER
UNITED AND VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE FA.
So corrupt its disgusting.
Google is ur friend on this. Gill was voted into the FA by the CEO's of the other clubs. He didn't appoint himself. And to say United have a monopoly of the english game is laughable. Liverpool already had 18 titles when Man Utd barely had 7. May I also ask what club the present FA chairmad used to preside over?

Clue: they are called the Citizens

Sports › Re: Osaze Does Not Want To Play For Nigeria by dabossman(m): 8:45am On Nov 03, 2012
I have no problem with Osaze pulling the curtains on his international career. Its his choice.

However, if his reason is because he didn't get playing time at the world cup as Keshi said, then he's not being professional.

Amodu used him during the qualifiers but a different coach took us to the world cup. Lagerback prefered Yakubu (only God knows why.) Shld Osaze now hold Nigeria responsible for a coach's preference? Is that why Osaze was not committed under Siasia and contributed to our failure to be at CAN 2012? Because of a grudge?

Osaze should know better. We have seen players who were dropped at the last minute from tournament squads who didn't quit their team because of that. Ask Anelka, ask Llorente, ask Riquelme, wait ask Yakubu who was dropped from Korea-Japan 2002, or Amodu who got the boot after qualifying for the WC twice.

Hhm, couldn't have put it better. The same westerners once told us that it was civilized to wear clothes and cover our unclothedness. Must we dance to their tune every time they change the music?

If there is no law against such establishments, then yes, let them be, but regulate their activities. To say running a strip club is civilization? Err, I don't think so.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Do Some Clubs Really Have Upper Hand In The English Fa? by dabossman(m): 6:46pm On Oct 31, 2012
BodyKiss: Poster you're very stup1d, why don't you change the "Some Clubs" to "Man Utd" in the title of your post? You made your title appear as if you're being objective, but then, you mentioned only where Man Utd were favoured.

You called Jonjo Shelvey's red card unjust? How stup1d and bias can you get?
Help me tell him o! The honest truth is most big teams and star players usually get calls in their favour. Sometimes refs also make errors. To imply that only man utd gets such favors is so myopic and shows a lack of objectivity. We all saw Arsenal win a game yesterday where the equalizer was scored in the 95th minute. If that was Man U now, we won't here the last of it. They will say it is Fergie time. The referee is a united fan.

Peeps, try and be objective and stop cooking up childish conspiracies.

emmacares4u: 24/7 electricity supply should be the last dream of any Nigerian bcox those dat will make it work are making their money from it.....ask urself, dont u know dat dame set of people are in charge of giving license of importation of Generators to the country and once this is off, their money stops coming in. . . , again, Am an Energy Expert by the special grace of God.....'Energy and Petroleum' and research has proven that if Nigeria should av uninterrupted power supply, the German factories and other country manufacturing generators will av about 400,000 jobless which is a setback to their economy, this same set of expert rates will be called upon to fix our power supply, now tell me ...knowing well dat dis will bring a setback to their economy, will dey do it well? Note my comment and watch and see......This should be the last dream of any Nigerian.....even the Nigerians into generator business will never pray for it to work....let's pray for the best
I don't agree with your assertions. I'm even surprised that it took all these our money bags who have made illegal wealth from looting our treasury this long to see that they can make much more money from investing their loot in a sector like power, than they can ever make from importing generators and fuel. Do you not know that there are more homes connected to the national grid than there are who own generators?

In a country of over 160 million people, I wonder why any sane looter will keep his money in a foriegn bank when he can invest it in different sectors and make billions upon billions that will last several generations. Just find a good or service that you can provide for as amny people as possible and you are made.

The cement, rice and sugar Dangote imports, is it not being used by the ordinary Nigerians? Is Mike Adenuga not making his billions from products used by the common man. Then think of owning a power generating or distribution company. Barbers, hairdressers, vulcanizers, battery chargers, market women, corporate organizations, public utilities, all of them paying money into your account, and you are talking of generators?

I just hope it works anyway, even though I have my fingers crossed. GEJ surprise me and I will applaud you.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Accuse Referee Mark Clattenburg Of Racial Slur by dabossman(m): 3:56pm On Oct 29, 2012
Dotman01: yeah its part of the game, but why is it that it mostly common to united. If it happens once in one or two seasons it would av bn anoda thing. But everytime man u wants to play any big team they get favoured by the refs. Against liverpool jonjo shelvey was sent off for a 50-50 challenge.
My brother, that's because we usually don't remember bad calls that went in our favour but can remember those that were against us. Did Chelsea not get bad ref decisions going their way on the road to winning the FA Cup last season? In the semi final, even John Terry finally admitted that the second goal by Juan Mata did not cross the line in the win over Spurs. In the final, what looked like an equaliser from Andy Carrol was adjudged not to have crossed the line, but replays proved otherwise. Do you remember the two offside goals Chelsea scored to beat a hard fighting Wigan last season?

Ask yourself seriously, why would Man Utd be favored? Are other teams not English teams? Some say the Queen supports United. So, I ask did the Queen just ascend to the throne in 1992? Was it not htis same Queen that was there when Liverpool and Arsenal where the ones winning all the trophies? Some say it's the FA. Well, the FA Chairman was formerly the Chairman at Man City. Should we assume that is why City won the title last season? Google the FA chairmen in the last 20 years and please tell us how many of them are Man U fans.

Jose Mourinho started this "United is always favored propaganda" as a mind game, but sadly a lot of Nigerians now take it as the gospel truth. The EPL is not Nigerian politics. United is not even the richest club in England, neither is it the one with the greatest tradition or history. So please can someone tell me why United is the "favored" one? Think about it without sentiments.

Just like the last day game of last season btw man city and qpr. A big game of that magnitude shouldnt have been marred by the 'mistake' of one guy.
Yep, but heck it happens! England lost to Germany at the last World Cup because a clear goal was not counted. Even though Germany went on to win by 4 clear goals, that singular mistake still marred the game. It happened to Arsenal against Barca in the EPL a couple of seasons ago. It's all part of the game, sad as it may be.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Accuse Referee Mark Clattenburg Of Racial Slur by dabossman(m): 2:00pm On Oct 29, 2012

Most sensible post here. Some folks seem to forget that United scored two quick, clean goals before Chelsea fought back to level scores. Sure, the ref messed things up after that, but why blame United for that? Referees will always goof, and no Chelsea fan here can say they've never won a game through controversial decisions. Last season against Wigan and this season against Reading are clear examples. Even at 11-a-side the game could have gone either way. That Chelsea had more possession doesn't mean they would have won. Chelsea fans should know that. I believe they played Barcelona last season. Did Barca pressure translate to victory? Come on.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do People Become More Spiritual When They Are Poor? by dabossman(m): 9:22am On Oct 27, 2012
Because it is easier to be meek and humble when you are poor. With riches comes a sense of fulfilment that can easily turn to pride. Besides, you don't have to pray to God for things you can easily acquire with money.

That's why Jesus said its easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to make it into God's kingdom. Money is a defence that can make one relegate God. It takes extra grace to be spiritual when you are rich.
