Couldn't sleep alone for weeks.
Sports › Re: Stephen Keshi Withdraws His Resignation! by dabossman(m): 5:28pm On Feb 12, 2013
modicum: Dear Stephen Keshi,
Was that a cheap blackmail to arm twist the hands NFF and the presidency just because you just won for your country an elusive AFCON trophy? If truly you were serious, negotiations would still be on with you now and probably the nation would be holding its breath awaiting news of the outcome of the talks with you. But before some people who heard the news on Brilla FM drove from V.I to Ketu, you had already 'un-resigned'.
Listen carefully, NFF had wanted to take the right decision of sacking you after our first two group matches and Nigerians would have applauded them because you looked lost and bereft of ideas on how to make the team click.
And what makes you think this is all about earning more money? Have you stopped to think that all that Keshi is trying to tell those goons in the NFF is "I am not begging or grovelling to be Eagles coach and can do fine on my own?" After all before this cup-winning feat he had coached Mali and Togo, even qualifying the latter for the World Cup in 2006. Do you not think that this action is a statement to say "local coaches are not beggars who the NFF can feel they are doing a favor?".

The man has made a huge statement and I applaud him for it. Even the NFF have been forced to eat humble pie.

femmy2010: For a coach, the Ovation can only be loudest when it is time to retire from football in totality.
Good players very often makes a good coach.
Good he made his point,so KESHI back to growing Our football.
Intelligent comment. All of you saying leave while the ovation is loudest must be asking Keshi to retire prematurely. That Guardiola resigned from Barca when the ovation was loudest doesn't mean he won't be criticized if he doesn't perform at Bayern Munich. Even Mourinho got the sack at Chelsea, and may be fired at Madrid for all we know. A coach is as good as his last result. If Keshi leaves Nigeria and goes to say South Africa or Cape Verde and fails, Nigerians will call his achievements a fluke.

He has made his point, let him continue his building process.
Sports › Re: Stephen Keshi Withdraws His Resignation! by dabossman(m): 11:50am On Feb 12, 2013
Keshi is a product of history. He learnt very well from Westerhof. Anyone who is old enough will know that Westerhof only stayed that long as the Eagles coach because he had direct access to the Presidency. Severally the NFA tried to fire him, especially after failing to win at Senegal 92, but the Presidency prevailed. Those at the NFA/NFF have always been a bunch of self-serving goons. Keshi made the right move, but should be careful of victimization from the NFF.

And for those chatting trash about Keshi being proud here, it's either you have never had a job before, or you have never worked at a place where you are ridiculed and undervalued by a bunch of numpties who have no idea what they are doing. Something tells me the former is mostly the case.
Politics › Re: Lagos To Build Inner City Roads This Year by dabossman(m): 11:31pm On Feb 11, 2013
hollandis: olodo ,2 roads were tarred .Is it an achievement.mtcheww
If you lived in such neighbourhoods for donkey years without anything being done and severe damage has been done to your car over the years, believe me one tarred road will be an achievement. The innercity roads in and around Egbeda/Akowonjo are constantly rehabilitated and properly maintained. When potholes appear, they are quickly filled up. it's not always about building new roads sometimes but even maintaining the ones you have.

And for those who say nothing was done last year, have you been to Surulere lately? Take a trip to Bode Thomas and see what has been done. Ijesha, Aguda and Itire are other locations you can check.

Yes there is a lot to be done, but do you seriously think all the roads in Lagos can be repaired at the same time? How then will we move around if all the roads are under construction at the same time?

Er, so who's laughing now?

Newbies like Omeruo, Musa, Moses,Onazi etc have won GOLD!
Home based boys like Oboabona, Mba, Agbim etc have won GOLD!
Even Keshi whom you dissed has won GOLD as a player and coach!
Yobo, the captain you rubbished has finally won GOLD!

Osaze all you've got so far are 3 bronze medals.

I really appreciate you as a talented footballer, but try and change your ways!

Now pride has robbed you of a place in history. Hope you get a second chance.

In today's football, no team sticks to just one formation come rain or shine. You choose formations according to your capabilities, the tactics of the opposition or change things around when your formation is thwarted. Man Utd also like the wing play but sometimes your wingers get frozen out. Remember, how the Italians clipped our wings at USA 94?

ifemiide: Why are we shying away from the truth ?. His story is truly pathetic, but there are other ways for a student to raise fund for his education without commiting crime. I pray that God should help him o.
Finally someone addresses a fundamental issue. I feel for the young man, but if every undergraduate that has troubles paying their fees turns to kidnapping, none of us would be safe.

I know young chaps who paid their school fees working the night shift doing factory work. Heck, a friend sold agbalumo and other fruits in secondary school to get by.

Seems like we tend to condone crime these days.

Ironi: I agree with you 100%.

A football nation of 160M human resources and can't get 11 players, useless.

Nigeria should be having 10 sets of soccer teams capable of winning the world cup. cool cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
So how many should China, India and USA have then if it is population that determines the quality of a team?

opeoluwa2: People are funny, how can Nlanders bash their own country man just bcs the guy spoke the truth abt keshi?
And now pple are happy cos he got embarrased due to some misunderstanding between WB and QPR.
I blame osaze for ever associating himself with Nigeria.he had opportunity to play for his mothers country but he insisted he was coming to Nigeria.
And the best we always do is to ridicule pple on Nland.
Pple have turned Nland to a forum of hates and castigation.
Most of your have nothing to show as an achievement, but quick to talk down on pple.
TALKING DOWN ON PPLE IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF A SMALL MIND.

I'm not happy for your mistakes osaze,
I pray you find your footing very soon.
All the best
Er, which mother's country are you talking about? Uzbekistan? How many major tournaments have they qualified for please? Nigeria has done a lot more for Osaze's footballing CV than Uzbekistan ever can, so don't even go there. And please is Keshi also not our country man? Full-blooded at that. So it's okay to bash Keshi, but let's leave Osaze alone because his skin is almost white right?

I bet you are one of those who call the Eagles "super chickens". Are they not your countrymen too?

When some of us who truly like Osaze as a player and a Nigerian were trying to ask him to take caution and show some humility, some mo.rons on this forum said we should mind our business, he is making his money, blah, blah, blah...

Now he has become the laughing stock in England. Even small boys like Oxlade Chamberlain are taking cheap shots at him, and people like Keown are calling him uneducated. Imagine a player of his stature trying to gate-crash his way into a team fighting relegation when players like West Ham's Diame are being courted by Arsenal.

He fought against Siasia and got frozen out, fought against Keshi and got frozen out, now he is fighting against West Brom, and God help him if they relegate him to the reserves team and force him to see out his contract. In a year or two people will be asking "Peter Odem.. who?", and these same sycophants that are urging him on now will open their mouths and say we don't need Osaze in the Eagles anymore because he is a spent force.

Someone had better talk some sense into him. The English are not very forgiving.

Sports › Re: Is Keshi's Eagles The Worst Nigerian Team Ever ? by dabossman(m): 11:53am On Jan 31, 2013
tbaba1234: This is untrue...

This is not the worst eagles team ever. Maybe the least experienced but certainly not the worst.

At 2:0 against 10 men, Nigeria played it safe yesterday, which was the wise thing to do. In the game against burkinafaso, we needed to keep possession but we attacked, lost possession and were punished on the counter.

Musa has been heavily criticized but on his day, we know he can be a menace to any defence.

We are rebuilding and it takes time. Even if we lose, I hope the coach retains his job.
So true on the bold lines. I wonder how we can compare a team with as many as 10 Nations Cup debutants with teams that played at several tournaments and won us nothing. Our teams from around 2000-2010 revolved around almost the same character give or take a few additions. Most of the players in that era could boast of over 30 caps for Nigeria. Name them, Oliseh, Okocha, Kanu, Yobo, Taribo, Utaka, Martins, Yakubu etc, played in the national team for a decade or more, and all they kept winning was bronze. They even managed to miss the World Cup in 2006 and barely made it to South Africa 2010. We are now comparing them to a team with Ogude, Oboabona, igiebor, Emenike and co. I'm sure if we add all their caps together, Yobo would probably still trump them on appearances.

Even the highly famed 94 squad caused us pain and heartache at Algiers 90 and Senegal 92. Yes they won silver and bronze, but Nigerians wanted gold. Westerhoff was almost sacked for godsake.

If these boys crash out on Sunday, so be it. I don't know why we are expecting too much of them anyway? By the way, when was the last time the "almighty" Ghana, or the fearsome Ivorian Elephants last win the nations cup?
