DANILSA: IN NIGERIA EACH EMPLOYED MAN IS EQUIVALENT TO 5MOUTHS, SO FASHOLA HAS FRUSTRATED ABOUT 15000 SOULS cry AND WE CALL THIS MOVING FORWARD? I LOVE FASHOLA HIS MY BEST GOVERNOR BUT HIS BITING MORE THAN HE CAN CHEW THIS DAYS, HIS BECOMING A DICTATOR THAN SAVIOR.YOUR ONLY BREEDING MORE NUISANCE AND ROBBERS embarassed huh
You know I agree with you on the emboldened parts. That is why I leave my house early in the morning to get to work before 8AM. That is why many people wear suits in this hot Nigerian weather, when a T-shirt and jeans would be more comfortable. That is why we obey rules and regulations set by our employers whether public or private sector, even though they are not completely convenient. Because, men, if I loose my job a number of "mouths" will feel it o! And I can't carry guns. So, I comply. When I get home I can do as I like.

Maybe Okada riders need to think about their families before they flaunt clearly set rules. Just my thoughts.

peterowode: the LASG is too harsh on this one, they should find better ways of punishing them without having to destroy the source of their livelihood. Most of these okada riders are not even the owners of their bike
Which is why many of them abandoned the bikes and fled. I can't imagine leaving my means of livelihood becuase of one LASTMA guy o! That station, we go reach am together.

mekaboy: LEAD IN WHAT?

I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT EACH OF THOSE OKADAS REPRESENT A FAMILY, A CHILDS SCHOOL FEES, SOMEONES DAILY BREAD. AND AN OPEN DOOR FOR ARMED ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING AND INSECURITY.

SO WHEN YOU NOTICE THE INCREASE OF ARMED ROBBERY IN LAGOS, DONT ASK WHERE IT CAME FROM. ITS ONE OF THOSE OKADAS YOU SEE THERE. THOSE CAUGHT OFFENDING SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY A FINE, INSTEAD OF DESTROYING THEIR MEANS OF LIVELIHOOD. ITS NOT LIKE GOVT PAYS WELFARE TO SUPPORT ANY CITIZEN, OR THERE ARE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, WHERE YOU CAN EASILY WALK IN AND GET A JOB.

THOSE OF YOU PRAISING GOVT FOR THIS, SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED, WHEN A PREVIOUS OKADA RIDER COMES TO ROB YOU AT NIGHT.
You know I agree with you that offenders should be given the opportunity to pay a fine and retrieve their vehicles, but if what the traffic official said about Okadamen abandoning their bikes and fleeing is true, then what do we expect the government to do. You can't fine someone you can't catch.

I think we should all just try our best to obey these laws. They are not so hard you know? Even illiterate bikemen in Benin Republic obey traffic laws. Why do we Nigerians seem to prefer being lawless?

Typical Nigerian strategy. Throw money at the problem.

PHCN is not working! Here throw some money at the problem. Air disasters are becoming more frequent. Here throw some money at the problem. Infrastructure is none existent. Here take away fuel subsidy so we can generate more money to throw at the problem.

So, NEMA, state governments, special Aliko-Adenuga committee, I'm waiting for a detailed plan on how these funds will be utilized. Hopefully, we'll see that plan before the money is released.

P.S: There is nothing wrong with the President addressing the issue in person.

Dede1: Please I suggest you reread the history of USA civil war. There was no blockade of Confederate or Southern secessionist by Union Government. Britain was a major supplier of Southern Confederacy. Unlike Biafra, Southern Confederacy did not have other North American countries performing the dirty jobs for Union side as Cameroon, Egypt, Tchad and Niger did for Nigeria.

It is foolhardy to remotely juxtapose Nigerians, Americans and Spaniards in any sort of comparison because Nigeria is county not a nation. There is nothing I cherish more than disintegration of Nigeria.
Thanks for making your true, bigoted feelings known. You want Nigeria to disintegrate and so you make biased and uninformed assertions. I don't have a problem with that. Pursue your agenda through every means you can, but surely venting on NL will not get you very far. Pursue legals means and you are more likely to succeed, but don't think you can carry arms and expect to have friendly foes (that's a classic oxymoron0 who will be fair in war. Come to think of it they say all is fair in peace and war.

By the way, I'm slowly loosing faith in the Nigerian project myself. Too much hate and tribal sentiments amongst the masses while the leaders loot in unison, tribe not withstanding. I'd rather we all get along, but "no be by force". Hopefully someday we will realize who our really enemies are.

@Katsumoto: Thanks for educating Dede1. The British tried to supply the Confederates with arms in exchange for cheap cotton, but where thwarted by the Union Army.

Politics › Re: Awolowo's Daughter To Achebe: We Are Disappointed by dabossman(m): 5:44pm On Oct 08, 2012
Dede1: The above post is a typical example of useless analogy borne out of undue pressure from tribalism and ill form of educational background known among so-called Nigerians. The last time I check, Taliban was a group of Muslim extremists that ruled Afghanistan. USA citizens and Afghan Taliban have nothing in common and will not have any national linkage after the war. Whenever USA armies leave Afghanistan, the group known as Taliban may decide to assume the affairs of the country and reverts to its Islamic indoctrinated way of life.

I do not think the debate or the so-called controversy over Achebe’s book on civil war would have ensured if Biafra and Nigeria were separate countries today.
Oh, I see. I didn't know that war now recognizes tribe and race. Accept my apologies. I bet The Union Army in the American Civil War constantly provided food for Confederate soldiers and Southern secessionists. You obviously never had of the Union Blockade that crippled the Southern economy ensuring that the Confederates could not sustain the war. Oh, I bet General Franco was very magnanimous in the Spain vs. Basque Civil war.

Are Americans and Spanairds not living together in harmony and building their economy, even with the global meltdown? We Nigerians act like other people don't have a history. Well, news flash, many counties have fought internal wars, patched things up as much as possible and continue to live in peace. Let us continue to sow the seeds of hate and see where it will get us.

I wonder if this amalgamation of Nigerians in the Federal House of Share-The-Money give a hoot about all this tribal venting going on here? The only time they fight if I remember clearly is when "Ghana-Must-Go" is involved.

I WEEP FOR NIGERIA!

Politics › Re: Awolowo's Daughter To Achebe: We Are Disappointed by dabossman(m): 3:36pm On Oct 08, 2012
Dede1: Why should telling the plain truth turned into controversy by certain moronic Nigerians? Awolowo had mercurially defended his policy of starvation as a weapon of war in several interviews he conducted. He even went further to elaborate by stating it was foolhardy to feed your enemy to be strong so as to continue fighting and prolonging the war.
Err, while not saying Achebe is right or wrong since I was not born during the war, neither was I (or Achebe for that matter) a member of the ruling junta back then, I do wonder at the logic in your comment.

Do the Americans supply food to the Taliban? Where they constantly shipping essential grains to Iraqis during the Gulf War? Did the Allied Forces provide sustenance for the Hitler-led Nazi Germany?

I would want to think that a strategic move in a war situation would be to cut all forms of food and arms supply to your adversary. Now, if that equals war crimes, then Churchill, Roosevelt, George Bush Snr and Jnr as well as Obama should be on their way to the War Crimes Tribunal. Even today, various forms of aid are withdrawn by world powers to show their displeasure with certain "unfriendly" governments.

Would you feed your enemy in a war situation? Just wondering.

So, what happens to those who have accepted the message of salvation? Do you continue to preach salvation to them every Sunday even after they are saved? How then do they grow in the faith?
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Don’t Nigerian Pastors Preach Contentment? *picture* by dabossman(m): 5:28pm On Oct 07, 2012
While I agree that some Pastors go overboard with the prosperity message, contentment doesn't mean you shouldn't desire or aim for better things. Otherwise Nigerians should be content with 18k minimum wage, epileptic power, fuel importation and so on.

Should a parent be content with a child who is barely passing exams? Would you be content to earn less than is adequate to provide the basics of food, clothes and shelter for your family?

Truth is we all desire to prosper.

djfiifi: MANCHESTER UNITED ( SCUMS ) CHEATERS
1. Mike Dean, referee, when Blackburn beat
Manchester United
3-2 and hasn't refereed a Manchester United game
since.
2. Mike Dean - referee, in 2010, after Manchester
United's defeat
to Chelsea, was demoted to the Championship.
3. Alan Wiley, called "fat and unfit" by Alex after
Manchester United's
draw with Sunderland,"agreed to retire" that
season.
4. Mark Clattenburg refereed Manchester United's
6-1 defeat to
Manchester City, hasn't refereed a single Manchester
United game after that Manchester derby. (has acted
as 4th official in 3)
5. Martin Atkinson - Involved in Manchester United's
defeat to
Chelsea, criticized by Alex, hasn't refereed
Manchester United game
since.
6. Ex referee Jeff Winter openly stating that he
hadn't been given
a Manchester United game for 2 years after sending
Roy Keane
off.
7. Howard Webb has been Manchester United's
most used
referee since the defeat to Manchester City.
8. More than 18% of the penalties Webb has
awarded in his 8 year
career have been to Manchester United thats gud
rate.
9. Manchester United's CEO is on the board of the
English FA. (Just
in case the referees don't do their 'jobs'.)
10. FA reacts to Alex Ferguson's criticisms by only
appointing
referees he approves of.
11. Alex Ferguson not happy with Chris Foy, Foy
referees a League
Two game. something he hasn't done since the
2001-02 season.
Well Alex Ferguson must be very powerful to control an FA that has been led in recent years by a lifelong Arsenal fan and now by a former Man City chairman.

Where was the police when Brevik shot several students dead in Norway? Where were the Police during the Colorado cinema shooting in America? You talk as if the Police are omnipresent spirits. Why didn't anybody in that large crowd that stood to watch the lynching call the police. They are just as guilty as those who did the actual killing.
Daniel Craig aint got the finnesse of Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore
That's the point those of you who make this assertion all miss. The Bond movies starring Daniel Craig have actually taken us to the very beginning when James Bond was a crude and ruthless rookie agent. Casino Royale for instance is actually the first James Bond story. Quantum of Solace also digs into the past of Bond. We are seeing James Bond before he became smooth and full of finesse.

Sagamite: You are a person!

What court of law?

Even in Nigerian democracy today, one can not rely on court of law, you are talking about court of law in a dictatorship where all democratic laws are suspended and laws are made arbitrarily and at the whims of a lunatic and criminal few?

What the fck do they teach you guys in school? What the fck is the Nigerian education system churning out?
Sagamite, save your energy. You should know that Nigerians suffer from a serious case of collective amnesia. Give it a few years from now and even the much maligned GEJ will become a hero and a saint. He will even be described as the best thing to happen to Nigeria. We always tend to forget too soon.

1. 2Face
2. D'banj
3. P-Square
4. Asa
5. Naeto C
6. Banky W
7. J. Martins
8. M.I
9. Flavour Nabania
10. Wizkid
@Semid4lyfe: you are no doubt entitled to your opinion, but saying singing reality shows should be scrapped for the reasons you gave is a bit myopic, and I use that word without meaning to be derogatory.

If we are to follow your philosophy, then the concept of "tietary education" should be scrapped. After all, some of the richest people we have never went to college or dropped out. So why do we need universities right!

Also we would have to scrap football competitions in Africa, North America and Asia. I mean millions around the world play the game but only teams from Europe and South America have ever won it. In fact, only a few players really BLOW!

Truth is, if it is monster hits that make a successful artiste, then Baba Fryo, Marvelous Benjy and Azadus beat ur numbers 5-10 hands down.
