Easy experiment: use windows sound recorder to capture a WAV file from an MP3 on your IPOD connected to MIC input, then recompress to MP3. Tell me whether the difference is imperceptible.

Not so easy experiment: Get yourself a lightwave video capture card from ikeja (phillips internal electronics- vey high quality) and dump 5 minutes of your favourite DVD to a gigantic AVI file via monster composite cable (available at numetro/palms) then compress to VCD video via SUPER (google for it and download, erightsoft, uses ffmpeg and mencoder, best quality out there).

Tell me you dont see any difference and I can recommend an excellent optician.

The default resolution to this is: A man will continue to recieve attention from young women even after his prime, as long as he is rich/influential/otherwise desirable, while a woman will likely not.

This means a man with a lack of self control will be under mounting pressure to violate the terms of his marriage (ie screw around). There are three solutions to this:

(a) legitimise the acquisition of a kept woman/mistress. Also called polygamy
(b) divorce the first wife and acquire a new one
(c) Understand that your sacrifice of fidelity (and it IS a sacrifice) is a much better option than imposing the sacrifice of shared paternity upon your children, born and unborn


Africans and muslims prefer

(a). Perhaps because the happiness of the children and the wife are secondary to that of the man in said cultures. In fact, since male children can later on 'make up' for this sacrifice by marrying many themselves, I'd say it is due to the deck being stacked against women in these cultures by default.

I personally consider women as equals, hence I frown upon this option. However, the issue of women's rights/standing is a cultural one, and as such is not open to debate- if you are a strong traditionalist african then you have every right to consider a woman as your property. However you are on your own if *she* does not.

(b). Unfortunately this option is in my opinion, worse than (a) because it is simply a repeat of that option but with the man able to divest himself of responsibility for the children- thus complicating their problem. Arguably it mitigates conflict by ensuring the women are not placed in direct contact with each other, and in principle it allows the woman to re-marry. If the wife is young and/or childless, this may actually be the desired option. In cases where the husband retains custody of the children, they may suffer even more.


I prefer

(c). This is by far the most difficult for the man, but the truth is this: will you perform an act that causes pain to others simply to deflect a lesser pain from yourself? It is a moral question that is made even easier to answer when you consider that those in question are the people you are supposed to love completely and unconditionally.

If you are not willing to jeopardise their happiness then you should remain with their mother and endure whatever trials and suffering she chooses to inflict upon you. Its too bad but thats what you signed up for when you got married. Dont want it, dont marry. Its better than raising children that will hate you.

If truth be told, there are some guys who wont take nonsense from you and will further disgrace you by beating u up before leaving the house, thus making things even worse for your daughter. Afterall, no be naija, who calls the police.

In truth, most of the time a guy wont be bjorking your daughter in your own house. So if you catch your daughter, it usually means you barged into someone else's house without their consent.

Now, ONTOPIC: what would *I* do? depends on the age of the girl.



1) Age of consent is 18, but smart people get into uni at 17- so I'll treat that as the age from when she should learn to act responsibly. I do not care about the boy, in fact I dont give two. I will simply ensure that my daughter acted responsibly and understands the risks. If she understands the risks and goes ahead with it, my discussio with her will be more like a combination of debate/advice. I no longer have the power to give her orders so the final decision lies with her. Of course if she decides to go against my wishes she should also be prepared to live with the consequences as far as my emotional/financial support of her is concerned.

2) Once she leaves uni, all bets are off. I will treat her like any female friend. If I met one of my friends banging some dude in her house, how would I react? is how I would react. I'm not sleeping with my daughter so no need to go all OJ.

3) if she's married then I will let her know whatever her husband does to her, she should not come crying to me for I know she is guilty. Yeah i know i should support her blablabla BUT you knew what u were getting into getting married- he's your daddy now.

4) if she's under 17 then i dont care how wide the smile is on her face, the dirty bastard is raping my daughter and the last thing he shall feel upon his dirty stinking kpack is the cold steel of my blunt rusty machete. Instant justice and death to rapists!!!!!

Well, ff10 isnt a crap game from a purely objective standpoint.

However to anyone that has prior (general) experience with RPGs, it is terrible

And to most final fantasy fans, it is not very good in comparision to the others.

Thats because it is greatly simplified. This makes it easy to pick up for newbies, but frustrating for long time players. It seems never to leave 'tutorial mode' and all of a sudden you've finished the game.

If you like the story/cutscenes you're in for a treat. However I found the voice-acting poor and the story boring. Usually that isnt a problem, because the gameplay makes up for it, but ff10, too easy, no depth. The guy that claimed rpgs are just about repeatedly pressing one button over and over would NOT be convinced otherwise by ff10.

even square realised this, hence the side-quests and 'endless mode' stuff crammed in after the fact.

strangely enough, if you try to leave the beaten path, as per sphere upgrades, the game suddenly becomes incredibly hard, so hard that you may totally screw up your party and have to start again. Since 'tutorial mode' is so long, this is of course a hellish experience,

Im happy u enjoyed ff10, however if u want to introduce a newbie to ff, 10 may not be the ideal game to do it with!

Much of what you learn will not directly benefit you in the long run

However, many organizations are now wiser and will add a "comp sc. or maths" requirement to their job description- so its a definite leg-up on getting an IT related job.

Maths is also a good course to take. Beware though, your education will then be even more irrelevant. Your options will however be (a tad) broader.

However Maths is a more difficult course than comp sci, so tread carefully. It is also not for everyone- ie its not as simple as 'hard work equals results' in mathematics. Some people will fail regardless of all the hard work in the world. Not so for comp sci. With hard work you can get a good grade.

all you need to do is make sure you have a direct connection to the net from your xbox. What ISP do you use and are you trying to conenct from home?

live is 100% Active in nigeria, and you ca access all silver features like demos and live arcade games no sweat, plus onlin leaderboards and achievements. unfortunately online gaming is too laggy to be practical- its rubbish no matter how fast your link is. if your 360 is scratching cds, make sure you do these 2 things:

1) NEVER use your 360 on its side, as a rule. Just DO NOT, EVER. mount it flat like a normal console
2) dont leave your cds in the drive. eject when you are done

Ive had doa4 since i got the 360, and gears of war since nov last year. both cds are in pristine condition no single scratch. My friend next door had problems till we researched and discovered the side-mounting thing.

analogue transfers always cause signal degradation

the electronics of the capture device will introduce noise that degrades the signal.

plus a tv cannot display a higher quality than its source. true, tv has a higher res than vcd (on progressive), but it cannot introduce information that wasnt there to start with

low quality sourtce + high res display = low quality display
ANY display + analoue capture = degraded display

when you force people to use analogue transfer you have won half the battle because the copies will be of lower quality.

microsoft was smart not to commit 100% to the HD thing. They committed 50% to hd and 50% to broadband. It seems the broadband explosion happened but the hd one didnt. So for now, MS is the undisputed leader of online gaming. Not even wii comes close. (online)

Letting my anger out like that was ill-advised. But freedom has limits that do not extend into the realm of evil, malice and wickedness. If she is free to be wicked then so are armed robbers and thieves. The only excuse would be ignorance but even that is invalid if she does not acknowledge it with an apology. And like I said earlier, not to me. I'm not the one that has to treat every year past 21 like its living on borrowed time.

hmmm. well, this may be a waste of time, since, to an extent, an rpg can be a labour of love, and if you are biased beforehand you may never 'get' it.

however it may help to note that ff10 is one of the worst games to play if you are just getting into RPGs. It is aimed at die hard *final fantasy* fans and not neccesarily rpg fans in general. I was bored stiff by it- i actually fell asleep with the controller in hand on 2 occasions before i had to throw the game away. I hear that ff12 is amazing, but the same was said about ff10, and i hear it uses one rubbish semi-real-time system, so i suspect the noise is all about graphics. Finally LOTR:BFME is not an RPG, so it doesnt count. Its a strategy game and i for one cant stand turnbased strategy- for strategy i prefer realtime simply because I lack patience and dont enjoy the parent board games (chess and risk)

also, 70% of the enjoyment of playing an rpg comes from the story. If you find the story to be childish or annoying, you cant just ignore it like u can for an action game.

when you play a good rpg, you will realise that the menu-based system is, in fact, the best for that class of game. This is because the games are direct descendatnts of an old board game called 'dungeons and dragons' by TSR hobbies, and the menu system is transplanted directly from there- but with the computer doing the dice rolling and maths for you- thus enabling the complexity to be increased many times with little effort!

You like ayo opon so much, i guess you do have the patience for a board game, so maybe you may still give rpg's a shot. If you discover them to be to your liking, just think, another of the good things of life is made available to you. A new hobby/distraction can only improve the quality of our lives in this godforsaken country where everything is just upside down and a man has to think about survival every waking minute.
