there are no new versions of the 360. MS released an hddvd ADD-ON which is seperate, and thats good, cos u dont want movies wearing out the drive u use for games (constant spinning). plus 360+hddvd drive = ps3 price wise, and in europe its cheaper.

the new 360s that are proposed are simply getting HDMI output, which is a new type of plug in the back, for COPY PROTECTION. as a 9jerian, will u ever have a use for that? jeeeee-zus. 360's already do 1080p over component.

playing bluray is not a real feature yet. let the must-have movies arrive first.

at the moment we cant be sure which is better, 360 or ps3. only time will tell. for now i hope u know there are hardly any ps3 exclusives left, even Unreal 2007 has jumped ship to 360, now. How long before namco and konami follow suit? Once ps3 loses control of MGS the war is over.

Are games childish and for kids? No.

Do the majority of Nigerians agree? No.

The whole linux shindig is the only thing that sounds remotely good about the ps3, and then for that price i'd rather buy a friggin laptop (does EVERYTHING ps3+linux does including TV-out! and with DVD playback! Full-featured! plus portable!)

anyway here are my answers to his points:

1) BC- bc is useless as TP said. We all have pirated discs that dont work. And even if we had the real stuff, the region is probably wrong anyway. PLUS ps2 games look bad on HD unlike xbox games, which are upscaled by the 360. However you will get to play God Of War, which is cool

2) Nice controller! I prefer my 360 pad, sha! Analogue triggers, instant on, wireless, plus real force-feedback (not tacky rumble) and proper placement of the d-pad!

3) well, browsing is a bonus I guess. *shrug*. Wh y browse on the tv, sha,

Hey vokal_guy, do u know u can just plug in ANY usb keyboard and mouse to your Ps3 and it will recognise them? YES! the 360 does this for keyboards, not sure about the mouse sha. I guess ill try when I get home.

Anyway I will wait for 18 months to get a ps3. My xbox 360 looks set to dominate the scene fopr at least that long. when the big ps3 games start to come out maybe I'll switch. But, not now.

Seriously: You can get 360 games as low as 6100 at the Galleria. Ikeja should never be more expensive than that. When I first went 360 game-hunting at Ikj sep last year, pgr3 was 4k5. Was gone by the next week, tho,

Its ok for u to claim 'Guile is too slow' over here with your family, but PLEASE do not say it outside, eh? It completely destroys your credibility, honestly. No sane sf player will deny the power of Guile. Guile has consistently been the top tier player in every version of SF2, despite capcom continuously crippling and de-powering him till they finally gave in and removed him completely with SF zero. If you have any doubts about the power of Guile, search the net for the TZW videos. Did u notice how c0dec didnt bother claiming his character would beat guile? Thats the mark of someone who *knows* street fighter. Some players are top-tier, and guile and dhalsim ruled the arcades for years. I personally cannot use dhalsim, but facts are facts.

I switch to Ryu whenever a good guile player shows up, even though Ryu isnt quite in the same league as Guile he's close enough that I can beat most Guile players in 9ja cos we dont know the true power of Guile over here!

Vega is so low in sf rankings that it is futile mastering him. Many videos exist on the 'net to prove certain things, and a vega vs dhalsim video to PROVE that vega can stand up to the dhalmaster shows how extraordinary it is that such a thing can even be concieved. Whoever was using vega is obviously by far more skilled than the dhalsim player if he can even hold his own. Sorry but capcom doesnt like vega. He has too may damage penalties, he dazes too fast, his hit windows are too short, his moves can be cancelled by mere screen scrolling, he remains in hitstun too long, he has no s.u. invincibility frames with which to reverse or wake up, his backflip is broken, his blockstun has penalties, he does damage too slowly, his comboregulation is too strict, DUDE!!!!!! VEGA SUCKS OKAY!!!!!!

Dont worry, fifa 2008 will fix all that- they will just re-use the new advanced engine and put all the simple stuff like teams, leagues and finetuning the passing, etc. For now though fifa 2007 sucks n next-gen, that is correct.

At the palms they have no less than 12 units at PC outlet at the palms, and seemingly more than that at GAME. The price of 60gig units at pc outlet was 130,000 I think.

A dude i know at alaba has 2 units for sale 2 weeks back, flogging for 110,000 a throw. More recently I was told there were ps3's for sale at Ikeja for 65-80 grand a pop.

yo @codec I hope you know Vega is a bottom-tier character in Turbo. He's great and all that, but unfortunately is fatally flawed in real tournament play. Ive seen many exceptional vega's put up a wonderful fight but at the end of the day you will be frustrated by the poor balancing. Sorry but Vega will lose against a competent shotoscrub, Gief spinner ,dhalsim pro or guile turtle

Also the fact that you said 'even dhalsim' when talking about turbo shows that you probably havent seen the pros playing that game yet. Dhalsim is a TOP-TIER character in turbo, so you shouldnt mention him and the word 'underestimate' in the same breath. In 9ja we dont have many dhalsim players but watch oline tournaments and youi'[ll see why he is one of the top characters. I repeat though- vega is bottom tier. known fact worldwide.

Just responded to your ps3 thread. seems like ure a correct guy. I have been playing sc2 on 360 by myself for a while and could not find ONE person who plays it seriously. What you said (tournaments, etc) gives me hope! Anyway back in the day SC1 was all the rage in DreamCast houses around the ikeja/ogba area and what I can tell you is if you consider yourself a pro, drop that cheapo nightmare and use a REAL character. Like calling yourself a sf pro and then saying u only use shin akuma. Come on! small time now you go talk say your cervantes is unbeatable. Tell me your Ivy is top tier and then we can talk (after my Sophitia makes her beg for mercy)


Finally my favourite fighting series is streetfighter (of course. Old skool brew For the true funk soldiers) And my top game in the series is a tie between sfa3 (which I have on psp), sfa2 and sf2 turbo

Also, because I bought my 360 during X06 (august last year) i had a 1 month trial gold membership. I was able to play games online with my rubbish starcomms line. Sony have NOT sold 1 million consoles. Thjey have SHIPPED 1 million consoles. Big difference. MS on the other hand sold 4 million consoles during the last quarter of 2006 alone, not to talk of earlier. Face it: right now the 360 is a better buy than the ps3. It is cheaper, has more games and has better prospects.

Most ps3 games are already available on 360 with hardly any real differences. The new stuff in ps3 oblivion is already available as a download on xbox live. The ps3 is losing exclusives at super speed, and the few exclusives it has left that have actually seen release are inferior to 3560 games: genji/ resistance. Its top exculsives are leaving so fast- witness assasin';s creed and GTA. You will be shocked when MGS5 is announced as a 360/ps3 dual-release. (maybe not mgs4)

The blu-ray is a great feature of the ps3 but I have to say the hddvd of the 360 makes more sense. This is because it adds up to the same price when you buy the add-on, PLUS you get an extra drive so the ps2 death-by-movie problem doesnt reoccur (NOTE: on ps2's and xbox's the drive could die early if u watched movies on it cos it would spin a lot more than if you used it for games alone, overheat, and wear out. Pretty soon youd be able to watch movies but games would have serious problems). On the 360 if the hddvd drive dies in 3-4 yrs time u can replace it withouit replacing the whole unit.

Well, blu-ray has more capacity than hd-dvd thats a fact. However it is not USER capacity, so the only way it is relevant is if the video quality is better- and for nopw sony is boneheadedly frcing people to use mpeg2 on the bluray (stupidity) so the quality of vc1 compressed hddvd's is actually BETTER! (shock horror) in time this will change but for Gods sake sony!!!!!!!

blu-ray for games? Well if games eventually start needing more than 9gigs a throw, games on bluray will be a good thing. However the wii has shown that gigntic 300-hour mega epics are most likely NOT the way of the future, and your future wife/husband will probably agree.




Now you have many points about the ps3 that are genuine advantages, and are reasons that I have recently softened in my anti-ps3 stance. The openness of the console and the fact that more of its capabilities are unlocked for the use of the user is awesome- upgradable hard drive, card reading, Linux for homebrew including movie players, browsers, emulators and whatnot, keyboard/mouse compatibility- these are all things that are great for us (the users) but not neccesarily for sony,

I guess most people know by now that the technology in the 360 is not that different from that in the ps3, raw-power-wise. Im sorry but the diffference between ps3 and 360 will never be as big as that between xbox and ps2. Fuinny enough the ps2 beat the xbox even with inferior graphics, what does that tell you?

You need to be the kind who loves driving so much they dont mind spending extra on the car to maintain it properly.

According to consumerguide: BMW's after 1988 models require premium-grade fuel. Good luck finding that in 9ja. SUPER will degrade your beemer with time.

Also, if you live in the east, or the North, you will enjoy the beemer (or a benz) better than a japanese car because they are more fuel efficient at higher speeds, and perform better on your wide, open roads.


If you live in Lagos, you need a car that will not kill you in GO-SLOW. Yes. Beemers and benzes dont like go-slopws, and dont like the tight, winding roads with potholes and almost no chanc e to attain their true potential. If you plan to live/work on Lagos, go for a japanese car. Japanese cars are designed for tight spaces, and will serve you better than a beemer over here.

if u dont have a dvd rom drive, you can dump the contents of your dvd to an ISO file and use that.

However if u dont have a dvd drive in your computer it is unlikely that you will be able to run the games at a playable speed at all.

of course it will look like nonsense on SDTV- until you lower the res to 640x480. or 800x600 (PAL tvs can handle 800x600 cos they have 525 lines). same thing with windows via tv-out. No biggie.

100k for the ps3 is robbery, dude. thats the alaba price. Better choose a more appropriate price and fling it before it becomes dead weight on your hands!

Frankly, all my ps3-crazy friends have decamped to 360-land after seeing GOW! the only customer i can think of for u is a partner in pwc whos kids are bugging him for the console and who seems to think I'd know where to get it. However since the gist now is that ps3's can be easily bought on store shelves, i guess he's better off just buying one himself next time he goes to yankee.

GEARS OF WAR is every bit as incredible as it has been described, especially when u start playing it the way it was meant to be played- in synergy with your fellow soldiers. GOW is one game where if u let your CPU friends die, you are soon to follow, and if u leave them on their own, they will surely die!

now imagine that with 2 players playing! You will shout at each other till u become hoarse. the game is that intense!
