Wrong! even local govts should not be responsible for this kind of things. It should be the private sector. The job of the govt is to make things easier for the private sector to flourish and then collect taxes they are NOT supposed to be the drivers of the economy. The problem in this country is that we have been practicing an economy where the state is the main economic driver instead of the people. Like a wise man once said, "People create wealth, not the govt."

Na those local police own go worse pass.You know how long state Governors dey take pay salary? November salary is paid on 20th of December.

What i am saying is that they should scrap the concept of national police and let policing be left to the local govts. Let them each create there own police force and pay them with there own tax revenue. The local govt will determine how many policemen they can recruit and afford to pay from there revenue.

This is why allocations need to cease as it is stopping the rest of the country from developing. Let the local govts be autonomous and let them govern themselves with the oversight of the state.

When will this people learn that state driven economies DO NOT work?? People create wealth! govts job is just to provide the environment for people to create wealth. Naija sef.

You see the folly of running a country from the centre? Why can't Nigerians have there own localized police force whereby the local taxes of the city or LGA goes towards paying there police? Chai! Naija sef when will this people realize that a national police force is simply folly?

And this is why we need to stop federal allocation. You can't keep rewarding people with money when they have not been prudent with money.

It's as if the EFCC is so incompetent or they are corrupt themselves by practising selective justice.

If I was Buhari, the first thing I would have done is to clean house and hire outsiders and put them in charge of the agency. I won't mind if the entire staff were foreigners long as they are competent and they are people of integrity.
That way we can gain credibility in the eyes of the world and can show them that we are serious about fighting corruption.
We can ask the British govt and the Americans for some of there top investigators (even the retirees) and turn them lose on the Nigerian political establishment and watch the house burn.

And another thing, to maintain there independence, Buhari should remove the EFCC from under the jurisdiction of the attorney general to ensure there complete independence. We can't have the ministry of Justice telling us who we can and cannot pursue.

What I find disturbing about Nairaland
1. Tribalism: it gets depressing just reading the hate-filled comments. It ruins the whole day for me. I have caught myself wondering if most of the people I run into during the day also subscribe to these intense hatred for others. Regardless of the terrible things happening around, I know for a fact that I can't paint a whole tribe as evil. I reside in the north. I have been shown real kindness by both the northern and southern people. I am actually from the east myself.
2. The battle of the sexes: I am not using this term in a playful way. Like the tribal e-war, the blame game is too much. A lady asks for advice and people begin to insult all Nigerian women or all women. What's wrong? I have lived a while on this side of the earth and I have met the good, the bad and the ugly. Both men and women fall into these categories. I see good men striving against all odds to do right by their family. I see women striving alongside them. Look around you when you drive to work tomorrow. You will see both men and women working. In fact, I know more people engaged in legitimate hustle than the gold diggers, oloshos, gigoles or runsgirls some commenters on nairaland would have me be believe inhabit Nigeria.
I am not a writer so I will stop here. But really, why the hate? Is love now outdated? How come love is only seen as something between a man and a woman? What of the one between brothers, neighbors, friends, and so on? I am tired.

It has really gotten pathetic this days man but I think it's a vocal minority.
