Why do hospitals reject gun shot patients and ask them to go and get a police report, when you know it’s a crazy task that moment.

You guys are on strike because of money, no problem about that but don’t you guys think this law stopping hospitals from treating such patients should be one of the reasons you guys should be on strike??

In America, when a gunshot patient comes in, they first call the police secretly and also start proper medication almost immediately because such patient might’ve been a victim of armed robbery or other issues.

Please you guys should look into this.

The law has been abolished.
Patients with Gunshot injuries are attended to without presenting a police report. This is the practice in federal tertiary institutions as far as I know.

It was desperation on her part to make money.

You may need to start by getting a police report that you’ll take to the bank with evidence of scam so the BVN will be blacklisted, meaning he can’t use any account linked to the BVN until he visits his bank/returns the stolen money.

The downside is, it may cost you more money and time which unfortunately, you don’t have to spare.

Let me create a scenario to drive my point.
Some scammers get a hold of your mum’s banking details( I’m using your mum here as a female figure in your life because I’m 100% sure you don’t have a wife), an OTP sent to her phone. Scammers use some social engineering skills on her and she mistakenly sends the OTP to them .
Mother calls you immediately she realizes she’s been scammed. Now tell me, are you going to Call her a fool because she acted foolishly? ( After all, Banks warn not to disclose OTP to anyone)

I’m sure you can’t because you have some respect for her. No matter how angry you are, your utterances and actions towards people show how much regard and value you place on them.

My friends can’t even call me a fool when I goof, let alone my family or spouse.

Someone wakes up, creates a new account with fake identity and a Bogus story of how they make lots of wad. Desperate and unsuspecting you ask to know how he made money and he refers you to a scam telegram group ( Telegram that’s a Den of Scammers), you all buy the crap and head there cos you want to earn 5k daily like he did.

The threads that’ll follow this will be of unsuspecting members losing their hard earned money and crying foul on Nairaland.

Your money will be gone and nobody will help you recover it.

Carbon, Opay, PiggyVest are quite okay at the moment. You should know nothing is 100% guaranteed in Nigeria, so it’s advisable you spread your money across these fintechs just incase of eventualities.

If you’d rather sleep with both eyes closed, then leave your money in your bank account. ( not that it’s scammers proof either, but still safe) or open a mutual fund account with a trusted company( better option than leaving money in the bank)

I'm not too sure you understand how the NHIS works. Teaching hospital is not where you enrol for NHIS. In theory, corporate organisations and government workers are to enroll for NHIS, in practice only government workers use it and enroll for it. The requirements is not convenient for most SME. I'm saying this because I've once inquired about registering my workers for the policy. It is not realistic. If in doubt, please name any private business enrolled in NHIS.

The NHIS has offices in every teaching Hospital and Enquiries can be made at these offices.

I don’t know if I mentioned that I got my mum enrolled a couple of months ago. ( as a private individual)
Every Nigerian is eligible for the National Health Insurance Scheme, though civil and public servants get enrolled automatically.

I mentioned private individuals not businesses. Private Businesses use private hospital HMOs, you strike a deal with them and get your staff enrolled but you as a private individual can enroll yourself and family in the scheme.

You could have helped her campaign to raise money. That would have been a more logical help.

The thing is, she wasn’t thinking right and you being in the health sector should have known better. She ain’t getting any medical help again from that particular hospital in the future without first clearing the former bill. It’s going to be written boldly on her folder that she absconded and the total amount owed will be indicated.

Have you ever wondered why you find some patients spend like 5 months plus in the hospital after treatment? (Especially orthopedic patients)Not that they cannot abscond, after all, they are allowed to go about their daily stuff and return to the ward until bills are cleared. These guys understand the value of integrity and the fact that some emergencies can land them in that same hospital in future.
Some people get lucky along the line to find private NGOs clearing their bills or hospital management halving it and sometimes writing it off totally.

he should come to Nigeria and write his MDCN exams being a foreign trained medical graduate.
The refresher course and exam lasts maximum 3 months. On completion of the exam he will be inducted into the Medical and Dental council of Nigeria, he can then leave after his induction for a masters starting in January.
He should sit the english exam which has a validity of 2 years, in this covid times gmc extended to 3 yrs i think.
Within the 9 months of the masters he should attempt to pass both plab 1 and plab 2.
At the end of his plab 1 and plab 2 with success. He wud apply for gmc registration.
As he has successfully been inducted into the mdcn, he will obtain a certificate of good standing from them which the GMC will need to register him.
Once gmc certified, he can start applyin for jobs on nhs site- his options will be limited to fy1 if he has not done his housejob

You didn’t give this young fellow a good advice, to be honest.

Sgtponzihater1 gave the most practicable advice that’ll also be most beneficial to him. The route you’re advising him to take is like cutting corners, and he’s going to be wasting much of his time doing that.

The first reason being FY1 is quite competitive and he may end up getting frustrated searching for a job after successfully passing all PLAB steps.

Secondly, MDCN that I know wouldn’t give him a letter of good standing just for holding a provisional registration. They’ll say they don’t know him( they did this to a friend but he was lucky to have been licensed in his country of training and had done internship there, letter of good standing was gotten from this other country). Except of course MDCN has changed the rule within the past 2 years.
Besides, Ukraine does not license their foreign Doctors after graduation.

Thirdly, the one year spent acquiring masters would have been well spent getting a proper hands on clinical experience from Housemanship training.

More than 80% of the foreign trained Nigerian Doctors run back home to complete the requirements for full registration, there’s a reason for that. This includes the ones licensed in their countries of primary training.

My advice is for the dude to go back to Nigeria and use one stone to kill 3 birds. Within 18months, he’d have been fully registered, completed Housejob, and passed PLAB one if he’s a serious person.
