D2diff:What's the nonsense therein about OBJ? Was he not a lackey, Southern collaborator and stooge of the North whom the Northern Oligarchy deliberately chose to perpetrate their born-to-rule philosophy? Did they really choose him back then in the interest of Nigerians or for the belief that he was their old reliable friend who was surer to return power to them just like he returned power to Shagari after it got to him through Murtala's demise? Did OBJ spare any fair attention for the genuine agenda of his own Yoruba brothers? Was it not the North and himself he tried to please all through his tenure? How many roads did he construct in the SW? Did he investigate the political assassinations of his time despite 80% of the victims were his own Yoruba brothers? OBJ is the biggest problem Nigeria ever had. I keep wondering how he still has fans among even Yorubas. It beats me silly. |
Well, I used to be angered by OBJ's hypocrisy and holier than thou attitude, but I later sat down and critically re-examined some issues and based on my deduction I stopped being angered by his hypocrisy. And my analysis is this; as at 1998 God had successfully retired OBJ into political oblivion for being a key culprit of the messing up of Nigeria as far back as 1979. But the North, SE and SS voted him back to power in 1999 on the excuse that he had been to prison and had become born again. Some even said he was a patriot and based on all those mundane and puerile excuses they gave him block votes without him presenting a single manifesto. Now It takes idiots to be governed by fools like OBJ. So if Nigerians could, based on primordial sentiments, vote a rogue and criminal like OBJ back to power 20 years after he institutionalized the corruption that Nigerians suffered before he returned to the scene, then why should he not take Nigerians for the fools we rightly are in his eyes? I have put myself in his shoes and discovered that I myself will keep insulting the collective intelligence of any people who vote me back to power 20 years after I institutionalized corruption among them. It is that simple and natural. OBJ has no qualms at all. |
wheredemdey:Exactly! Even in Lagos Mainland you have the Omoniles who would tax you for paying for land, clearing the bush, surveying stage; and when you want to start building tax you for foundation laying stage, lintel level stage, roofing stage, and packing in stage. And at the end of it all they use the money to drink and chase lovers. Yet people keep saying Northerners are lazy. After selling of land and getting paid, Northerners would never trouble the buyer again for N1 for the rest of life. Southerners are greedy and dubious. |
YourFatherYansh:Your idiocy has just shown through in your comment which is largely illogical, incoherent and makes no point. No reasonable person with good upbringing would use his father's nyash as his moniker. |
babadee1:Jonathan was not really the best candidate the SS could offer for presidency. Obasanjo studied all the SS governors then and discovered that GEJ was the weakest, most pliable, most lacking in personal vision and self-conviction, and least self asserting; so he chose him as Yaradua's running mate for the purpose of tokenism so that it would be said he made it possible for power to come to the SS. It was the same way the Northerners studied all the southerners in 1998 and found OBJ to be the most pliable and bendable to Northern interests, most resistant to his own Yoruba agenda, the biggest Southern collaborator and lackey of the Northern Hegemony, etc and then chose him too for the tokenism that after all they were kind enough to give it to a Yoruba man whereas he was actually the worst and least likely candidate the Yorubas would offer for presidency if given the total leverage. What Northerners did to OBJ he too did to the SS. But the difference was that Yorubas were quick to reject OBJ as a Trogan Horse gift from the North while the SS could not see and till now has still not seen that GEJ was a Trojan Horse offer to the SS by OBJ. |
martineverest:Niger Delta is not synonymous with the SS. A higher percentage of the SS is located outside the Niger Delta Region. And the oil producing states where this laziness persists even include non-SS states like Ondo and Imo. Edo and Cross River could be hardly called Oil producing states yet people are very hardworking in these states. Check the transportation industry and you'll see Edegbe, God Is Good, Iyare, Agbonifo, Edionwe, Greener Line, Eagle, Discoop, Big Joe, etc all plying Benin-Lagos, or Benin Abuja or Benin Kaduna. Also you have Ogbemudia Farms Ltd. and many other non oil enterprises all over the state. So statements about laziness in the SS should not be sweeping generalizations. |
gulfer:If all these are true about them, then how are they different from Northerners? In fact Northerners might even be better than them. |
Whenever NLC protests for minimum wage increase for themselves they don't agitate same for workers in the private sector, but once they want to protest fuel subsidy removal they remember that everyone is a Nigerian. |
sandland:In 1999 PDP met pump price at N11 but left it at N87 in 2015. That was 800% increase in 16 years meaning PDP doubled pump prices every 2 years. |
junketer:I guess Tinubu, Fashola, Buhari, Oshiomhole, Lai Mohammed, Oyegun, Bisi Akande, Aregbesola, Amosun, Ajimobi, Ambode, etc are also runaway PDP members. BTW PDP houses more ex APC (AD, ANPP and CPC) members than how APC habours ex-PDP members. The likes of Shekarau, Agbaje, Obanikoro, Gbenga Daniel, Mimiko, Tom Ikhimi, etc are all runaway APC members to PDP. More importantly a company's staff may change but as long as the managers have not changed, then the company is still intact. That a First Bank employee switches over to Union Bank does not make Union Bank to become same as First Bank. |
Rayhutar:"Occupy Nigeria" was done by the SNG group led by Tunde Bakare. I never saw Tinubu, Fashola, Buhari, in that Ojota crowd. However, if you insist the SNG's protest was sponsored by Tinubu, Fashola and Buhari; then the SNG's anti-Yaradua cabal protest for the instalment of GEJ was as well sponsored by Buhari, Fashola and Tinubu......meaning that they once loved and supported GEJ but GEJ later did not impress them. |
Iknew it right from time that Okupe was just fooling GEJ's supporters all along. A lot of folks will be disillusioned when Fayose goes back to mend fences with OBJ. |
cekhoe:Hmmmm! Just speaking true to type. I initially thought you were male but it was you who first told me you are a girl without me asking you thinking you could get attention. You were obviously trying to advertise yourself. You also were the first to try looking up my profile picture and you confessed it here. I have told you that I will never check your profile picture as that is not in my nature. No matter how you seek attention from me you won't get it because my mission on NL is purely intellectual debate while yours is for self advertisement. Only a prostitute goes quickly to look at the profile pictures of whom she's having a debate with. A decent girl does not go looking for profile pictures of men and then even shamelessly come out to say it. Prostitute, how market today? Hope you got customers? |
cekhoe:Still manifesting your breast sucking stage of life. You claim I am faceless yet you have continued exchanging words with me. Can you see how daft you are? Why not ignore a faceless person? If you, as a girl, have put up your picture on NL then its obvious you are on a mission to seek sexual attention. You young prostitute. You better look for another job to do. |
cekhoe:So you came to Nairaland to look at people's profiles? No wonder you are not able to make intellectual contributions. Dumb ass! I will never look at your profile because you are too daft for me to want to see your face. I check for the faces of persons who are intelligent, analytical and logical, but not your indomie gulping types. You acknowledge I am an old man using walking stick yet you claim my girlfriend is lactating. what's an old man using walking stick doing with a girlfriend? You can see why I call you indomie and cheese balls generation? Do you even know the meaning of lactation? You have applied that term wrongly. Check your dictionary please. You must have attended a bush school. |
cekhoe:In this computer age of google availability and accessibility you are still asking for books to read to clear your ignorance of your own people's history? I keep wondering the kind of ignorance that made you claim that Edo will always go with SW after Edo even pulled out of the Western Region's oppression in 1963. Then you claim again that Edo has always been with the South-South which was not in existence until very recently. Do you really know the meaning of "always"? If not for cyber barrier I would have removed your diaper and flogged your arse so that you can grow up and leave breast milk. |
cekhoe:You goofed and you are only doing damage control. Even if you are very young that does not stop you from doing research and reading up. There are 15 year Edo boys who have read well into history and don't make the kind of blunders you make. If you have read into details about the struggles of Oba Akenzua you would not come here to vomit this trash you vomitted. You are the type that's carried awayy by this South-South hype without knowing the intention of those who created it. If you were following events you should have wondered why in the last confab Bendel submitted its own memorandum separate from other SS peoples. Indomie generation! |
uduak2016:Who is talking about oil? Edo does not want Akwa Ibom at all. However, if you research well you'll discover that there are relationships of language and culture between some villages in Edo North and Ogoja people of cross River State. Also the people of Ogbia in Bayelsa are Benin Kingdom migrants to that place. But for Akwa Ibom, there is no connection. Even at that Edo prefers to be alone. And I ask you why your brother Colonel Effiong and your Igbo brothers of over 2 million years invaded Edo land and tried to forcefully annex it to your Biafra in 1967 despite knowing fully well that Edo has no business with Akwa Ibom. Did any Edo soldier ever attempt to invade Akwa Ibom? I am the one supposed to tell you to leave Edo alone. In fact in that 1967 Edo was on its own minding its own business and it even announced clearly that it was not want to be dragged into your Biafra of Akwa Ibom, Igbos and other eastern tribes but your Akwa Ibom colonel Effiong and Ojukwu still forcefully invaded Benin, Auchi, Igarra, Lampese, etc and tried to annex Edo land. Why? What were they looking for in Edo? Please and please leave Edo alone. |
DedeNkem:You obviously don't know the relationship between corruption and political Economics. However, let me remind you that Zik was the first ever Nigerian to be indicted of corruption. This was in connection with the way he handled funds of the Africa Development Bank. So it can be comfortably said that an Igbo man set the pace of corruption and Yoruba and Hausa only learned from him. |
uduak2016:If Igbos did not dominate and oppress you, then why did you ever seek to have the COR Region carved out for you from the then Eastern Region? Why also did Isaac Boro declare Niger Delta Republic? History does not support you claim of non-invasion by Igbos. I recently read an interview granted by the publicity secretary or so of Ogoja people in which he recounted how Biafran soldiers invaded Ogoja and wrecked havoc during the War. Above all I hereby remind you again that Edo, as an organised kingdom with its own legislature, executive, judiciary, standing army, etc existed before Nigeria and South-South, so Edo does not really consent to this SS classification which is perhaps an attempt to obliterate Edo's prestigious history and international acclaim of a perfectly functional pre-colonial system. SS classification was and still an artificial political expediency which Edo does not really need to assert herself. When Nigeria breaks up Edo is most likely to go on its own or go as Bendel. The least option for it is to go with Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom or Cross River. Then the impossible options are Biafra and Ooduwa. |
cekhoe:The same you says: "Edo will always align with SW no matter what happens... there are many Edo indigenes all over the SW they don't make noise like the igbos... Yorubas never dominated Benin. they have always worked as partners even with the Yorubas having a higher population than them..." Can't you see that you are confused and contracdicting yourself? Is the SS (which you claim Edo has always gravitated towards) the same as the Yorubas you claim we'll always align with? Indomie generation! |
codemaniacs:You are the one speaking trash. You are obviously of the indomie generation hence you know nothing about history and have not bothered to read up. |
cekhoe:When did the South-South come into existence? When we were with AG the other 4 SS states were with NCNC. When we were in MDF the other 4 SS states were with NCNC or NDC still. When we were in UPN, the other SS states were in NPN. Only from 1999 to 2007 were we (Edo) in PDP with the other 5 SS states. However, in terns of sovereingnty and break away from Nigeria we have NEVER EVER pulled towards anyone else in the real sense. Please get your facts straight. |
codemaniacs:Wrong! Edo only aligns with SW in political ideology and political philosophy obviously because Edo believes in progressivism and realistic politicking. However, when it comes to self determination and sovereignty, Edo does not believe that anywhere else is superior to Benin City hence Edo won't tolerate another settlement acting as capital over Benin if given the opportunity. Edo/Delta suffered Yoruba domination in the Old Western Region. The Yorubas MPs then used to call our MPs Kobokobo in the Western House. By Kobokobo they meant unintelligible barbarians. In fact the Awujale then would introduce Awolowo, Akintola, ooni and then declare afterwards that the Western Region was complete without recognizing the presence of Oba Akenzua who was also a member of the western House and leader of future Bendelites. Funny enough the same Awujale office recently started including the Oba of Benin among Yoruba kings just to give him a premise to dishonour the Oba of Benin stool. |
uduak2016:What you miss is the fact that Edo as a people and as a state does not believe in Nigeria and as well does not even believe in any of the man made configurations in it. The fight to create Midwestern Region out of the Western Region was championed by the Oba of Benin himself...Oba Akenzua....primarily in pursuit of preserving the glory of the Benin Kingdom and secondarily to extricate his people from Yoruba domination in the Western Region. You will also recall that Edo did not tolerate it when Biafra soldiers invaded Benin City and tried to annex it. Edo believes in itself and itself alone. Edo is one of the notable modern kingdoms in Africa till today. Its existence predates Nigeria's fraudulent amalgamation. It flourished so much that Britain was tempted to loot from it. Edo has always been on its own in spirit and neither seeks unwholesome union with others nor tolerates unprovoked aggression and domination attempts. It is also noteworthy that people from the current Edo State part of Bendel actually were the ones who submitted the memorandum to have Bendel split in the spirit of allowing others be. Even though Edo accepts the SS classification in the spirit of solidarity with other minorities equally oppressed by WAZOBIA, Edo State has always viewed this SS configuration with the suspicion that it might be a subtle move to de-emphasize the uniqueness and of Bendel and the pre-eminence of glory of especially Benin City given the fact that the capital of this SS contraption seems being loaded for PH. As at when Edo got itself extricated from Yoruba domination and got Midwest, the Eastern minorities were still battling unsuccessfully to pull out of Igbo domination into their hoped COR Region. So how and why should an Akwa Ibom person expect Edo (which successfully fought its way out of Yoruba domination) to believe in being unequally yoked with some other South Eastern minorities who could not successfully yank themselves off Igbo domination despite being more than Edo in terms of numerical strength back then and till now? Edo state believes in an Edo Republic first, followed by Bendel Republic, then followed by a SS Republic, and then Nigeria in order of decreasing preference. |
cekhoe:What those guys miss is the fact that Edo as a people and as a state does not believe in Nigeria and as well does not even believe in any of the man made configurations in it. As at when Edo got extricated from Yoruba domination and got Midwest, the Eastern minorities were still battling unsuccessfully to pull out of Igbo domination into their hoped COR Region. DedeNkem:History does not support your claim. Nigeria had actually always been ruled and misruled by Hausa-Igbo coalitions of NPC-NCNC, NPN-NPP and PDP. 2015 was the first time Yorubas went into coalition with the North. On the issue of massive looting of treasury; an Igbo man called Aguyi Ironsi laid the foundation by his Unification Decree which dismantled our federal structure and redirected all revenues to the centre making the treasury so huge and tantalizing for all subsequent rulers not to be able to resist the temptation of looting from it. Had Ironsi allowed the funds to remain at the regions each region would have eventually been split into smaller regions or states in such a way that the fiscal federalism would have only trickled down to as many new regions or states as created. Under such a scenario there would have been virtually nothing available to loot at the centre after exhausting their tax revenue from the regions to pay army salaries among others. |
nwakibie3:The answer to your question lies in the fact that Nigerians also found the likes of Shagari, OBJ, Yaradua as the capable hands to rule them despite the abundance of intellects among us. |
This is May 11 the death day of Bob Marley a man of African-British blood who, within an extremely disenabling environment, converted an ordinary Jamaican folk music to a modern music and drawing international audience to it. He spiced it with philosophical input and instrumental melody. All these made him to become the first super star in the third world (a Herculean feat). Some of his later life Albums and their most popular tracks are: 1. Exodus (One Love and Three Little Birds), 2. Uprising (Real Situation and Redemption Song), 3. Confrontation (Bufallo Soldier, Black Man Redemption, Stiffnecked Fool and Chant Down Babylon), 4. Rastaman Vibration (Positive Vibration, Who The Cap fit and War), 5. Survival (Africa Unite, Ride Natty Ride), 6. Kaya (Kaya, Is This Love and Time Will Tell). His earlier Albums are: 1. Catch A fire (Baby We've Got A Date, Stop That Train, Stir It up and Concrete Jungle) 2. Natty Dread (No Woman No Cry, Bend Down Low, Natty Dread, Talking Blues) 3. Burnin' The Wailers (Get Up Stand Up, Hallelujah Time, Small Axe, Pass it on, Put it On, Duppy Conqueror, One Foundation, Put It On, and Rastaman Chant) 4. Shake Down (Stop The Train, Cheer Up, Go Tell it On The mountain) 5. Chances Are ( Chances Are, Soul Rebel, Dance Do The Reggae, Mellow Mood) Other singles there are like Trenchtown Rock, Judge Not, Lick Samba, etc. According to Robert Nesta Marley in his Burnin' The Wailers album, "One bright morning when my work is over I'll fly away home to Zion". Today marks the 35th anniversary of that flight to Zion on a bright morning day actually. His lyrics and tunes have continued to inspire generations upon generations so much that his death appears faked and untrue. |
babadee1:Moreover those first three times of Buhari's failure had elements of rigging by PDP. |
idensko:Does Ribadu belong to any party? |
OneNaira5:As if you know anything about Uneme or even ever herd it before. The fact you missed in your misinterpretation is that Uneme is an Edoid group as those in Delta. Edo was a tribe before it became a state. It takes an educated person to understand the differences between Edo usage as a tribe which includes all Edoid groups in Edo and Delta different from Edo as a state which is limited to the administrative boundaries of the state. Comprehension handicap. |
