Reference: Another load has come. I predicted by the time the smoke had cleared Keshi will be up 100 million naira. Is anyone keeping the tally.
Shine your eye boy..it must be more than that already. But keshi never complained of money. he is a pretty wise man.

ebamma: when my mates were busy playing football my parents told me that they were useless and that education was the best way out of poverty and i believed them, now armed with a Bsc i'm driving truck for dangote while my useless area guys are earning millions through football #You lied to me dad.
If you end up winning the nobel prize for literature, your governor will give you a bicycle or a Sony TV set. Clueless leaders who are so corrupt that they do not even know the value of the money they are given to manage. I congratulate Keshi. Collect everything now..as you know, they will be expecting miracles from you in another 3 months. With the level of democrazy (demonstration of craze) that we have in Nigeria, all 36 states will soon dole out 10 million naira each to the manager and 5 million each to the players...

Idleness gives room to fantasies. lets draw the line between true love on one side and infatuation and erotic escapades on the other. Somehow, valentine has become popular for the latter.

Sports › Re: National Honours, Land & Cash For Keshi & Eagles by Dee60: 7:53pm On Feb 13, 2013
USD1.5 million goes to the FA (NFF) who incidentally has not said anything about the players. Let us come up with better ideas than thinking that everything on earth boils down to money! National honours are indeed okay, if commensurate to the level of achievement. Supporting the boys through diplomacy, to get top clubs abroad is good. It isn't all about cash, more so from a government that has been spending and incurring national debts in an unprecedented manner. Imagine that they went so much after Oby Ezekwisili for asking them to explain how they have plundered 67 billion dollars in just a few years. And the entire government could not come out to an open debate with just one woman! Let us pray we don't wake up one day to see that the country is completely bankrupt due to unchecked and unbudgeted spending.

This is not just about unbridled criticism. It is about Nigerians checking government and asking questions. That is how the West has grown. The Prime Minister of Britain faces questions every Tuesday, but we think that our leaders should never be questioned. Pure backward thinking!
Sports › Re: National Honours, Land & Cash For Keshi & Eagles by Dee60: 5:00pm On Feb 13, 2013
Let us PRAY earnestly that we do not wake up one day to discover that the present regime has run the country into total bankruptcy.
Sports › Re: National Honours, Land & Cash For Keshi & Eagles by Dee60:
porka: It stimulates National Confidence.

The economic worth can never be quantified.

A country's economy rests on an intangible asset called CONFIDENCE.

My sister, Nigeria needs the National Pride more than anything at this time of massive cynicism.

The matches were won transparently, there were no fixing, there were no shortcuts, the guys played, they won, they made all of us proud.
And they are honoured in the hearts of Nigerians. History will be kind to them for their achievement. They have earned tremendous goodwill. But this MONETARY tag diminishes it all. Must we monetise everything? Where is National Pride? This is why politicians pay themselves billions because they think they are doing something no one has ever done. It is all CHEAP political grand-standing, at the expense of our collective national inheritance. May be we should have paid SOYINKA 1 billion dollars and award the city of Lagos to him for becoming the first and the only Nigerian in 100 years of existence to have won the NOBEL Prize! Okonjo Iweala became the first Nigerian head of the World Bank. We should have named Abuja after her. After all, she is known the world over and she has earned good image for Nigeria.
Sports › Re: National Honours, Land & Cash For Keshi & Eagles by Dee60: 11:00am On Feb 13, 2013
GEJ probably thought he could win the hearts of Nigerians with these kind of gifts. Just as he wanted to win South West with the renaming of UNILAG. When will our leaders learn? I truly support the idea of giving gifts and rewards but we do not need to break the bank to do this...Money and land is not everything. National awards make sense if they are commensurate. The truth is that there are several Nigerians making great sacrifices every day. Some soldiers are in Mali now, some others are in even more dangerous places. Police College Ikeja did not receive this kind of treatment, even after GEJ's visit and there are too many police barracks that re in terrible squalor. We always behave like we have unlimited oil and unlimited money. Please let the rewards be commensurate and execute it promptly, not that you will promise today and make them WAIT FOR NEXT 3 years before fulfilling it! That is typical of government.

iwanchop: Our players have done us proud.
Truth is must they be given that much to 'encourage' them,it seems the players did us a favour winning the trophy for Nigeris. If they did that much to deserve all they got, what then does an average govt employee who served the nation diligently deserve? What is good for the players is also good for the numerous military men who were deformed protecting this country.I have no problem with giving them national honours but N5m and a plot of land...common.
I believe monetary rewards like this should be left to the private sector,if they feel like.It is Dangote's headache if he decides to give the Eagles all his earnings but it becomes the headache of the whole nation if our president dashes out tax payers money to players who got millions of naira for each of the matches lost, drawn or won.
You are right. The people at the helm continue to show how much they do not know how to manage national resources. The supporters that went with them should also all get member of the Order of Niger at this rate. After all, how could you win a cup without the supporters?
Sports › Re: National Honours, Land & Cash For Keshi & Eagles by Dee60: 10:29am On Feb 13, 2013
The boys deserve plenty of awards. But I think it should be commensurate with the achievement. The way GCON and CON are issued out these days, GEJ has made it virtually worthless.

Politics › Re: Ohanaeze To APC - Field Igbo Presidential Candidate, by Dee60: 10:23pm On Feb 10, 2013
Sectional leaders fail to understand that their concept is fading. We need leaders that would stop talking about 'field igbo, field yoruba, field hausa' and let just start to think progressively. Imagine Americans voting Obama, son of an immigrant twice as president! Yet, our idle so called leaders can only talk about sectionalism. Dont care where the president comes from, just give us visionary, credible leaders who are not religious or sectional bigots. Learn from Super eagles. have we been talking about where the players come from? No, bit that NIGERIA won. That is what matters.

solomon111: Guy shut up.
The fact that you hate GEJ dosen't mean you should talk like a slowpoke.
Presidents all over the world change their schedule every time, especially when a more important programm comes up.
You goofed. Presidents do not easily change their schedule, not even CEOs. Their agenda is watertight, more so when presidents are abroad. once you overshoot the period you booked your hosts leave you to yourself. Dont make excuses for this kind of thing. Abati just needed to say he could not make it due to 'pressing presidential demands'. Abati may good a lecturer but he is simply not getting it on this job!

In some countries like Germany, the mother can take up to 2 years off work and still be guaranteed her job when she returns. That's how much they value taking care of the newly born and of the future generation. No wonder Germany is better off in several respects today. Though not realistic in may instances, a 5 month old should indeed be taken care of by her mother!
