Most of Nigerian politicians like to take the people CAPTIVE. They are like Assad. They do not mind if the nation burns as long as they are allowed looting, its fine to them. You loot a state dry and then go to Senate to protect yourself. You get into Senate and try to hold other arms of government captive through endless summons and seatings. Then on the last day of parliament you hurriedly pass 40+ laws! ++ Nigerians are watching the gangsterism going on. 100 days have passed and the Parliament has not done anything other than sharing monies (in the name of wardrobe allowances) and sharing positions. They do not have any agenda, seemingly, so they want to stop those who have! Our country needs deliverance. |
What is the role of politicians in Nigeria? First, they use their offices to milk us dry. After that, they use corrupt judges to hold on to power and to their loot! Politicians must not be allowed to destroy Nigeria. Pray, people pray! |
The story of two Bs. Bayelsa has OIL and has a number of private jets owned by private people. The owners may lease to government at exhorbitant rates. The other B is Bauchi, a rather poor state. The state has a public jet apparently leased to private people, so that the state can earn money! Who is wiser? |
new2020:I guess majority of Nigerians are now united against mind-boggling corruption. No nation can survive with the kind of stealing going on here. All these names you are mentioning are not shielded. When the rich eat up everything, the poor will go after eating the rich. We had better move quickly against notorious embezzlers who are virtually richer than the states they governed. If we fail to move now, the poor may end up eating the rich! The people ought to rally round the anti-corruption drive. Nigeria is virtually broke! Not because we spent money on roads and hospitals, but because a few people stole our commonwealth. The Senate President should defend himself. He is innocent until the court proves otherwise. He should defend himself against the barrage of accusations, otherwise he would lose the moral right to lead the people. |
What if the dollar had digested? A disease worse that Ebola could start as a result. Call it dollar-mint-aria! It results from swallowing bacteria infested dollar notes. Naija sha! Criminal minds. |
How many Nigerians does he employ? What are his products and services in the marketplace? You cannot just be this rich if your products and services are not out there? How do you make your money sir? Dangote we know. He sells cements and other products. Adenuga sells mobile. Otedola sells petrol. What does BS sell? He should be able to explain to Nigerians. You cannot make billions from 'savings' except you have something to offer. Not to mention that SGBN went down. You should not be rich from a collapsed bank! |
First of all, remove the 65 Naira charge...... Only in Nigeria do you get charged for using an automated solution while the manual (over the counter) that is far more expensive attracts no charge! Haba! |
Because more people prefer to sit down in AC, read newspapers till 10am, chat with fiends till 12 noon and go to lunch till 2pm. After lunch they start rounding up for the day. Unknown to many, marketing paves a way for the future. You meet people, understand trade and commerce, and soon you are able to do something for yourself. Even as students, some have gone into marketing of shoes and clothes to their colleagues while in school. Ultimately, they are far better off. Yes, some employers make life difficult for marketers, but that does not cut accross. Some marketing jobs are good and very rewarding, only for people who want to work hard. I would rather move around than ROT away under AC doing exactly nothing and wasting my brain! |
Thank God. Serious people are now talking to Nigeria! It has been a while we saw this kind of meeting... |
Demmocrats:Soldiers follow the instruction of their commanders or their CinC! They dont just start shooting! It should be properly investigated. You made a good point that calls for investigation on why they did not shoot. |
To pay $12 billion to the Paris club banks and 6 years later, we have stacked up more debts again is scandalous! I do not know if NOI performed or if she did not. I guess she should have resigned like Remi Babalola did when the government of yesterday started their senseless spending and when lootocracy became the order of the day! She cant absolve herself now because she was THE COORDINATING MINISTER of the economy! |
kkkp:Chronic one for that matter! Unfit and improper for leadership and public service. It seems the mention of P... gives hims sleepless nights. |
THESE POLITICIANS SHOULD STOP BEHAVING LIKE THEY DONT HAVE BRAINS! DONT THESE GUYS HAVE WORK TO DO THAN JUST BLAB AND BLAB? EKITI HAS JUST BECOME A TOTAL DISGRACE! |
YOU LEFT OUT ORANGES. I WAS AMAZED TO SEE IMPORTED ORANGES IN SHOPRITE! SOUTH AFRICANS INDEED WERE LAUGHTING AT US WHEN WE STARTED THAT FRAUDULENT BOAST THAT 'NIGERIA HAD OVERTAKEN' SOUTH AFRICA'S ECONOMY. NOW I ASK, IS IT POSSIBLE FOR NIGERIA'S ORANGE OR WATER MELON TO SELL IN SOUTH AFRICA? IF THE ANSWER IS YES, THEN WE DONT NEED TO WORRY AT ALL. IF THE ANSWER IS NO, THEN SOMETHING IS GROSSLY WRONG WITH US. |
Nigerian politicians have held the people in captivity for a long time. SAD! A lawless 'lawmaker' that should be charged by the Police for traffic offence is flown abroad in a PRIVATE JET to receive treatment for bruises on the skin! SAD! |
Lawless law makers! You wonder why our country is like this? |
I think Jonathan meant well but his 'ministers' misled him, used him, at least a good number of them, and turned his administration into a thieving spree. These ministers should not open their mouths at all. The ones who did well will know themselves. For now MUTE is a good option. |
When there is so much inside you may have to look outside for answers! What group? Professionalism has been rubbished in many FG bodies on the altar of cash. Sponsored group - God and find jobs to do! Too many idle people in Nigeria forming one group or the other. Go get a job. |
Omo jo baba e. See the resemblance. |
We need a thorough analysis of things. Nigeria in the recent years have been running a bubble economy where there was so much so called 'growth' without the fundamentals. There was so much money moving around but that circulation was only in a small segment. Government appointees laundered embezzled funds on all manner of things, whereas manufacturing ran to a halt. The borders were porous. There was foreign money coming in but at any threat the monies flowed out quickly, through legal and illegal means. If we want true genuine growth we must look at massive infrastucture development, incentivised production, agriculture and exports. President Jonathan made some marks in Agriculture. The corruption around the economy would however not allow or encourage adequate growth. PMB must open up. Yes, he has to fight corruption to a standstill, because corruption (the kind we have in Nigeria) is terrible. At the same time, PMB must promote resource development accross Nigeria - West, East, North and South. In fact, PMB needs to get Nigeria and Nigerians working again. |
Mixed feelings. Shoprite is creating jobs and enhancing the retail landscape. However, the small shops owned by Nigerians around will lose business. South Africa is gaining grounds in Nigeria. Good for them. I wonder however why people throw a party just because a supermarket opens! Wow, this is 2015. We are still behaving like this? Oops. |
xpac01:These look like normal official cars used by governments at state level. what is exotic in these? |
If you want to retain your sanity please stay away from Nigerian news! The same man who was crying foul a few weeks ago has started singing praises! Na wa o. |
It was the responsibility of former President Jonathan to probe OBJ. It was the lot of OBJ to probe Abdusalam. Why didnt President Jonathan probe OBJ? He actually said many times that he was going to! It is the lot of PMB to check what transpired with the last administration. It would be the lot of PMB's successor to probe PMB! That's the way it is. |
Nigerians are a problem to ourselves. Why are all our leaders so reckless with public funds and public properties? Like Fashola, like AMbode - Anyone with skeletons should be exposed! There is so much poverty in the land. People die in hospitals just because they dont have N1000 for registration. Public schools are in squalor.. And governors spend half of their time sharing multi-million naira properties to themselves. Only for people to accept that as norm? Shame. |
Yes, if the candidate does not have a degree. For clerical positions attending a good primary school can be a plus. |
Sylvarresta:You said it all. It is obvious that we have brought nothing into this world and will not be able to take anything out. May God teach us wisdom. A true leader is one who leaves a legacy using his office to touch and improve lives. Today, we have many squinderels and few leaders. They want to chop with all fingers at the same time even when their mouths are full. |
Nigeria - When are we going to get there? A bottom end third world country with poor health and educational facilities, yet its officials will travel to hold official meeting in London? What is the problem with the black man? You see a plane load of Nigerians arriving in London with a lot of cash to spend on trivials, like committee meeting or so-called destination ceremonies. Same time you see another plane of Brits arriving Nigeria for business - to take away the little we have. How can our currency regain value? A Nigerian minister will loot money and keep billions in Europe - That is used to develop Europe. Back home his towns men are hailing him/her, for nothing really, other than the fact that he is their townsman. Yet, common bitumen road he/she cannot construct on his/her street! Legislators going abroad to hold meeting on Nigerian house committee? Unbelievable. In fact, I have no comment. |
50 million wetin? Mother of scandals. |
There are too many pessimists in Nigeria. That you worked in government does not make you a thief or looter. I am not holding brief for Dikko, but it is wrong and wicked to condemn him when you do not even know him or his antecedents. In Customs, the big officers do not even have to loot. Import-Export backwarders and forwarders from 'you know where' wont stop carrying bags of money to them on daily basis. |
musKeeto:You meant SS brothers! |
The caption is very misleading. There are many traders in Nigeria who still prefer to carry cash out in order to buy their wares. That is part of the money 'taken out'. Not all monies taken out through the airport are stolen. Those who stole the government billions are smarter. EFCC has to work with the banks to fish them out. The banks would have records of illegal money movements, not the airports! |
