Seun: We're not meant to actually debate the topic on this thread. We are impatient. Some do alcohol, some do women. I do discussions. |
lynpetra: A woman having hairs all over her face and body doesn't have anything to do with her sexual orientationOf course it does. Testosterone is a key driver of hair growth. |
berem: +100 likes.I tire o. When hot, wet, sweet, twisting punany dey! |
jakedes: @area_boy...you just sound like your name...guy let me tell you...I should add to your post. In the first place, animals are not homo.se.xual in the sense that humans are. I have expanded on this in a previous thread. Here is what I wrote - 2. Animals are not homosexual in the proper definition of the word. Let's watch the cases of so-called animal homosexuality. Do such cases have any co-relation with human homosexuality? I contend that they are entirely dissimilar. This is the reason:Nevertheless; this still does not end the issue. Even if people succeed in the argument that animals are homose.xual, the bigger point will still remain: namely that humans are higher than animals and cannot locate their ethics within the realm of animal behavioral patterns. For heavens sake, it is standard practice among lions to kill all the offspring of a lioness they want, once they have killed her "husband". Oya, if you desire a married woman, go ahead and kill her husband, and also all her children na? |
lynpetra: Something just caught my attentio now.Lesbianism and gayism are encouraged even here in Nigeria by some Nigerians.I went to an all boys school, Kings College, and it has its merits. There is a brotherly camaraderie and a manliness that it fosters. That does not necessarily encourage homo.se.xuality. By the way, what is wrong with a man having more than one woman. I personally want just one wife, but if others are okay with multiple wives, that is up to them. As for me, I know that one woman is already enough wahala. |
There is really no point sticking to one side of the argument without actually going to search for answers and avoiding prejudice. While homosexuality might seem abnormal to the average observer, nature has in its own way made this attribute part of life. We see homosexual behavior in not only Humans but a number of other animals from Dolphins to bonobos( and yes, I did choose dolphin and bonobos cause the exhibit high levels of "consciousness" compared to other animals and also because they have intercourse just for fun like us). If you then tell me that homosexuality is not an inborn trait but a choice, then you might also explain why this behavior is present with the listed animals? Nature is one very strange phenomena and no one claims to completely understand it. When someone is born and he/she has the hots for people of the same sex, you cant simply judge them by your standards. I can understand if it is banned in your Holy Book, but you cant use the teachings of your book on everyone else. Not everyone believes in it you know?
No one can "ban" homose.xuality. . .in the same way as no one can ban B.D/S.M practices. People will still do whatever they want in their bedrooms. Will you put cameras in every bedroom? Impossible. The issue rather the question of gay marriage: namely: legal recognition of such unions with the rights attached thereto. |
Symphony007: They should be left alone to live their lives. Nigerians and the government need to learn how to mind their buisness. I even don't see the readon for all this rancoor cause with the intolerant nigerian climate, no gay will even show themselves transgender publically so what's the noise for? If you belive being gay is a sin, stick to your belief and let the gay guy or lesbian girl settle themeselves with their creator. Just as people turn a blind eye to old alhaji's marrying tenage and even kid girls, people should learn to mind them buisness when concenting adults decide what sort of life they choose to live!!Yes, people should mind their own business; but NOT with regard to the issue of child marriage. That one, everybody suppose put eye inside. Children need protection from such abuse. |
Jarus: I'm in for it. Let me just offer advice from the sideline. If we have too many hands actively running the debate, it becomes cumbersome (divergence of thoughts, especially when you need to make light-speed decisions in the course of teh exercise). You and Afam can do the active controlling, supported by OAM4J, while I advise and mobilize. Too many hands can be counterproductive.Just ONE person to handle the debate, PERIOD. Let the MOD do it. In the new format, no need for Judges since there is no official winner or loser. Peeps following the debates simply click "like" for posts they support. Nothing more. |
Afam; Seun said it starts on Wednesday. Why cant we start right away. Its Monday afterall. . . . |
cogitoErgo: I dont agree at all that God created anybody to be gay. Look at us, male with his organ and female with her organ and those organs are for specific functions, if God wanted gays then t would have created, regularly, men and women without organs.Nonetheless there are people with hormonal imbalances that render them what they are; namely - naturally inclined to be gay. This cannot be denied. I am sure you have seen some women who have very masculine frames, and even have beard and hair on their chests. Such a woman is already hormonally pre-disposed to become a lesbian. It would be unfair to argue otherwise. I do believe that such people and indeed all others should be free to do as they please se.xually. However I do not agree that they should be entitled to legal marriages and my chief reason in this regard is the fact that children brought up by such a union would be subjected to a skewed and abnormal psychology of growth. I really dont think it is fair to a child to raise him or her with daddy and daddy kissing around the house. This could render a child terribly se.xually confused. There is more that I could say, particularly for the Nigerian Legal System. The law banning gay marriage was never necessary because the Marriage Act in Nigeria already defines marriage as being between man and woman. Beyond that, we cannot go into people's bedrooms to monitor what they do. |
nitrogen: Kill them all!!!!!!SPARTACUS! LOL! Seun, why Wednesday. I like the topic. I am itching to post my points. Permission, sir. |
Seun: After doing some research, I've come to the conclusion that it would be best to officially put afam4eva in charge of this debate. So when is the next debate? Will we still have a January one or would it be February. Seun, with 1 million members and millions more in terms of guests on your forum, you need to realize that you have a HUGE PUBLIC platform for WHATEVER you want to say. Your forum alone gives you a louder voice in this society than most politicians would ever have. I am not exxagerating when I say that one day, if you choose to become Nigerian President, merely announcing your candidature on this forum would leap you massively ahead. As such, you must recognize this for what it is: not just an AD bizness; it is a VOICE. You can make of that voice what you will bro. But it starts with taking little things like the debates seriously. You have done very well, and if I was Bill Gates; I would make you a huge offer to buy this forum from you. |
That sum is pretty low. Although we must acknowledge its a 3rd world country with limited resources. But that sum is still pretty low for the proper maintenance of proper police colleges nationwide. |
Seun: I unstickied the thread because I felt the popularity of the thread would be enough to sustain it. I thought it would not need to be a sticky thread since thousands of Nairalanders are already following it. A popular thread should not need to be sticky to survive.Boss, with respect, you are just chasing shadows. The debate was to hold yesterday and did not happen. No notice of postponement, nothing. What happened? ? ? ? ? |
This is really very curious indeed. We start a worthy tradition for monthly politics debates; the third edition is about to hold; the thread suddenly disappears; and when we come here to inquire after it, there is absolute silence from the owner, admin and moderators - notwithstanding that the debate should have held today. I am deeply disappointed. However, it just means that there is nothing more to debate: because this conduct alone by the NL managers answers every single question about why Nigeria is the way it is. Sad. |
None of this answers the question as to where the thread is; and the debate is supposed to be today. |
abdulkayus: Stil amazed as hw some ppl doesnt c anytin wrong in d shameless show of unclothedness called carnival. To me, its barbaric, degradin women to sex objects.SHUT UP!!!! CROSS RIVERS IS NOT A SHARIA STATE; WE KNOW IF IT WERE A SHARIA STATE, YOUR SHARIA LOVING PEEPS WOULD HAVE SHED BLOOD BY NOW. WE ARE FREE, LIBERATED PEOPLE AND WILL DRESS AND PLAY AS WE PLEASE. OLODO. |
Mods, what happened to the debate thread? It seems to have disappeared! |
CyberG: LOL...I see you lack conviction after realizing the gravity of your statement and the implications as I alluded to!Gosh so much hatred. This is worse than the feelings of the Nazi towards Jews. Dayum! |
nuorlah: Three wrongs dont make a right.SHUT UP! |
Funny: The ignorant people screaming Sodom and Gomorah are actually the ones trying to import a strange culture to Africa. Because, as far as Africans have always been concerned: the less worn under the hot sun, the better. |
musKeeto: This guy, don't you get the point? If God exists, life cannot be meaningless. |
Lol, nice of you to show up eventually when the thread is already at the brink of disintegration. Anyway you seemed to be of the opinion that accepting Christ is petty for such a magnanimous God to insist on. What I want to defend here is what it means to accept Christ and why it is not petty, but absolutely necessary. I'll start by listing some of the points about God that we both agree on. If I misrepresent you in any way, please point it out. We both agree that 1. God is a maximally great being. 2. God is the eternal first cause. 3. God is a person (more like super-person actually) 4. God is the Intelligent Designer who gives order to the Universe 5. God is the basis for morality and the absolute moral law giver. 6. God is perfect. For now, let us not assume that God is Jehovah rather let us use the generic God concept of a maximally great being (MGB). If you agree with these please indicate so that we proceed. If you don't agree with the above or want to clarify your positions, please do so or alternatively give us what your concept of God is so that I don't put words into your mouth. Once you've done this, we shall proceed having gotten a fair description of God out of the way. I await your reply.
I agree with the foregoing description of God. I will only slightly adjust, with reference to No. 1; that God is Infinite rather than "maximally great." You see, when you say, "maximally great," you therewith suggest that there is some maximum of greatness, which God is. In reality, any maximum connotes a finite state: God is not finite: God is Infinite. |
CAPITAL IDI.OTS. No further comment. |
Because I believed. And tried. Very hard. In the wrong direction. |
musKeeto: - His handling of the first bomb attack, the one that was blamed on MEND...That really was disgraceful. To state publicly - within 24 hours of the incident - that MEND was not responsible, and then now. . . Henry Okah is convicted for the crime. - His inability to say anything without referring to 'unknown enemies'..This is another irritating thing. A visit to Bayelsa is all it takes to convince anyone that GEJ's not the real deal.Well he was not in charge of Bayelsa for too long . . . |
1. Jonathan is corrupt (hence his inability to meaningfully fight corruption in Nigeria) 2. High level of profligacy 3. His foot-dragging in prosecuting the sponsors of Boko haram I'll be back to add more!!!
On point. |
Demdem: Mine started when the Retardeen went ahead to debate with himself on liveTV. Who the ffuck does that.OMG!!!! To be honest, i was actually going to state that as my FIRST major issue with him. I left it out just to focus on his actions or inactions as president. But that was really really really really really BAD!!!! No one does that! It was disgusting! |
Gbawe: Add "traitors against their nation" to that list. Is it not the same sort of people who insulted some of us recently because we stated that nothing would come of the Ribadu Petroleum task force report? These shameless sycophants lied to others and to themselves, right on this same forum, about "white paper", "harmonised version", "ratified copy", "approved version" and other bullsh1te rhetoric when we should all be in agreement that "nothing will happen" given the historically deceitful conduct of our President. Jonathan has had a squillion chances to prove sincerity of purpose. Yet he has let Nigerians down every time by being the same person to ignore the recommendation he willingly went to seek expensively. What is the situation with that Ribadu probe today after the "few months" marker you identified and after all the jargon we read here from shameless cretins? On point. Please see this thread and lets discuss further - https://www.nairaland.com/1172036/objectively-list-sins-president |
I have been doing a lot of thinking recently on the politics of this country with reference to our problems as a nation. Arising from this thread - https://www.nairaland.com/1169416/realistic-options-opposition-presidency-2015 I had asked what realistic alternatives the opposition has with respect to presidential candidates capable of taking Aso Rock from PDP in 2015. The general turn of comments in that thread gave Buhari/ Fashola as the main realistic alternative. There is a lot of good that could be said of both men, and I would certainly be intrigued to see how such a presidency would pan out. Although I remain against a Buhari presidency based on my personal principles and convictions (against past military Heads of State); I cannot but acknowledge that his anti-corruption posture would probably do Nigeria a great deal of good. Nevertheless, I digress. Right now I want to take a close look at the hat-wearing Dr who currently resides in Aso Rock. This fellow represents a huge conundrum in Nigeria. He is widely criticized today as an ineffective leader. Nonetheless Nigerians did vote him into office: largely based on sentiments. I did not vote for him; and indeed I urged many people not to. My reason was simple: I viewed him as a "business-as-usual" person; whereas Nigeria requires radical and forceful leadership into change. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the dramatic events that brought Goodluck to power (I would recommend everyone reads Olusegun Adeniyi's "Power, Politics and Death " ) - were such that critical questions on Nigerian unity were at play. The goose that lays the Nigerian "Golden Egg" - (The Niger Delta and Oil) finally - and against all historical expectation - had its son sitting on the No. 1 chair as Commander in Chief. That sentiment appealed to a lot of southerners. Indeed I recall that during the elections, i was once in a taxi in Lagos and I asked the Taxi man who he would be voting for. He, a Yoruba man, said he would vote for Jonathan, and I inquired why. His response - "Na mallam go own this country forever?" Viewing the Election results as a Map of Nigerian states, it is glaring that that election was largely a statement from the south of Nigeria to the core North: and that statement reads: "You do not own this country. We are here too." Period. Now that is what I call sentiment: albeit a powerful and historic sentiment which most people down south felt had to be stated clearly by the ballot. Gosh, I love writing so much, see how much I have digressed? ? ? ? Oya, back to topic. So I want to critically examine this GEJ presidency and see it for what it is. Devoid of sentiment and also devoid of unnecessary vitriol against the President. Specifically, let us list - with open and clear objectivity - exactly what GEJ's critical failures have been. That way, we can have a more constructive approach to 2015. I'll get the ball rolling. For me; his critical failures are - 1. His handling of the Boko Haram Insurgency 2. His handling of the Fuel Subsidy Issue 3. His complete failure to even remotely address official corruption, past and present (this is Nigeria's single biggest problem, and any president that does not address it is already a complete failure). 4. His lack of action on Federal Infrastructure for a modern Nigeria 5. His lack of a broad and powerful vision for a powerful and modern Nigeria. What are your gripes with GEJ? Objective issues please. No vitriol, no tribal insults, and no words like "retardeen". Thanks. |
dapotemi: Maybe we shud look at it dis way,Buhari got abt 12 million votes last election,i am very sure dat 95 percent of pple dat voted Buhari in d last election wil stil vote for him if selected by d oppostion.Let us now assume dat Fashola is selected as his running mate, you and i knw dat SW wil fall in place, all d SW governors are stil servin their first term in office nd they wil surely go for anoda term in office. My thought is dat they wil work assidously/tirelessly for their party nd whoever is d candidate, they wil deliver SW votes.Personally for me,i knw alot of pple, hundreds of pple who voted GEJ in 2011,but wil neva vote him again!i dont knw d figure d SW wud be able to deliver to d CPC/ACN merger, but am lookin at block votes! So if Buhari got 12 miilion last election, wit d SW votes dis time around, wit LITTLE frm SE n SS,anytin nd i mean anytin can hapen.Am lukin at a very difficult situatn for PDP if GEJ is choosen as their candidate.Quite realistic. It could be quite close. And when close, even the slightest rigging would turn the tables. . . |
Wadeoye: Man stop being ignorant... I asked you a simple question, you didnt answer it - tell me any northerner or yoruba that can win SS or SE votes if GEJ contests. It is not about Buhari mr man, it is about the sentiment of SS and SE folks. So, stop saying it is had to sell Buhari to SS and SE. Can you sell GEJ to NW or NE?Ol boy it doesn't seem that we are addressing the same issues. By the way, I wonder by what parameter you state that I am not "from" the SW. Lol. You must have a crystal ball. I do agree about the sentimental voting issue though. That was always the point, in case you didnt notice. That is the only reason why we would have to look for a "realistic" candidate, rather than a "worthy" candidate! Peace. |
