OAM4J: Not at all.
Yippeee! In that case I am interested in the January debate. But of course I will happily step away for other volunteers if there are enough of them, since I have participated before.

Let me however warn the mods that you had better consider me a default volunteer for every debate concerning this country every month, lol.

Wadeoye: Buharo/Oshiomole
Are you sure it is not true what most believe with regard to Buhari and elections in Nigeria - namely that he remains perpetually un-electable?

Note that I am not asking for a ticket that you like or find fanciful, or a dream ticket. I am asking for a ticket that you think is realistic in light of Nigeria's political dynamics. A ticket that can realistically win an election against GEJ/ PDP?

I dont see making an igbo man vp adding any value to the dream of evolving an alternative platform, otherwise, someone like ngige would have been a good vp candidate.
Are the Ibo not part of the electoral demographic?

On Ngige, does he still have national credibility after the whole Okija fiasco?
Politics › Realistic Options For Opposition Presidency In 2015? by DeepSight(op): 10:29pm On Jan 20, 2013
Right. Most Nigerians tend to agree that the ruling PDP aint quite getting it right at the Federal Level.

Let's assume the opposition parties successfully merge into a mega party well ahead of 2015.

What candidates can they realistically offer as Presidential and Vice-Presidential flag-bearers who would

a) Have a realistic chance of unseating Goodluck and -

b) Be very likely to change the fortunes of this country positively.

Nominate.

Please note the bold words above as key.

I recall I had also suggested the following topics -

1. The unity of Nigeria: negotiable or non-negotiable?

2. Federating Units: To revert to regions, decrease the number of states, retain 36 states or increase the number of states?

3. Special Status for Lagos: Yes or No?

4. Presidential Terms of Office: To limit to single term or retain double terms?

5. Corruption: Shall we introduce the whistle-blower reward commission system?

6. Immunity in the constitution: to remove or retain?

7. Constitution - Political Roles for Traditional Rulers?

8. Mayoral status for Abuja

I would like to add -

9. Legislative Reform of the CBN - desirable or simply negative politics?

Y'all are hypocrites. And worse - slaves of a foreign culture.

In MANY African cultures, it was VERY normal to have people go about bare-chested - completely - including women.

What exactly is it about "civilization" that suddenly makes this wrong?

There is a serious ethical discussion to be had here.

Here are maidens celebrating the King Of Swaziland.

Condemn them as well? ? ? ?
Lol, I'm just having fun here; of course I also agree that they are free to live their lives as they see fit. . . .but then I am also free to criticize them as I see fit. seedord and Gombs are equally free to jump to Cossy's defence.....and I am also free to respond to their criticism.

Freedom is so much fun wouldn't you agree?
Freedom on all sides; I totally agree: however I am not too sure of the propriety of criticizing a lifestyle that does not concern you. Particularly where such a lifestyle does not involve any crime or illegality.

Personally, I am well disposed to people dressing as they wish. I think the generality of folk - especially in Nigeria - are unnecessarily hypocritical about this matter of dress or no dress and hyperventilate unduly about it. We live in a society that condones the theft of public funds and turns a blind eye to the fact that even its Federal Attorney General was murdered without resolution till date - and yet the same society wastes its energy condemning harmless fancies like mini-skirts.

Sometime ago, a Cross-Rivers State female Senator actually proposed a bill to regulate how people dress in Nigeria. The bill included such things as the length in inches your skirt could be, no sleeveless tops, and such other balderdash. We do not live in an Islamic state and I personally cherish the freedom for each person to dress as they please: even the freedom of the lunatic to roam stark n.aked if he pleases, and the freedom of nude beach enthusiasts as well.

As far as I am concerned, criticism in this regard is just some form of insecurity and unduly judgmental.

What exactly is so horrible or so sacred about the glorious creation of God - the human body - that it must be hidden at all costs? ? ?

Sorry to bother you again, but please could you kindly add Gombs to your "impact list". It will be very much appreciated.

Signed: Mr Anony on behalf of well meaning Nigerians
Lol, Anony, really funny and brilliant ripostes you have there.

However I am firmly of the non-conservative view that they are free to live their lives as they see fit: and importantly, as Gombs pointed out: they have not directed any "impact" at you. Any person who watches what they do, does so out of choice, much like someone who watches p.orn. It would be strange for the p.orn watcher to start condemning the po.rnstar, would it not be?

Lol, really nice humorous threads, R.E.R!

Try your hand more at stuff like this, and it just might be financially rewarding.

In Lagos for instance, hundreds of weddings hold every weekend - and they all need very good comedians.

Nice one though! I really cracked up at your response for Anony, Lol.

And I never said it was a sin for a woman to go on low cut, only gave the the position of the Bible on the subject. I'm not God so I dont judge.

Pls always try to get your facts right before ranting.

FXKing2012: Sorry to tell u u really didnt make any good points here. @thoth never said the monkeys were killed just for the fun of watching the animals die; the monkeys were killed for food with the brain eaten first.
I'm sure the rest of the body will be used for meat and hide somewhere along the chain.

People are funny: simply because they dont eat monkey brain so they wanna condemn those eating it.

Anyways, it's human nature to condemn those different from you. It's the same reason the Nazi condemned the Jews to death; the whites condemned the black Africans to slavery; the medieval Spanish Christians condemned the Mexican traditional worshippers to death; the muslims condemn non-muslims to death in different parts of the world, etc etc.
So I'm not surprised when people condemn those who dared to be different - it's just human nature.
So according to you, it is ok to smash an animal's head open and instantly begin to eat its brain therein?

And this is the same man who goes around preaching Bible gospel and says that it is a sin for women to have low cuts of their hair.

Chei. You dey craze.

thehomer: What lie did I tell about myself?
The lie you told is your statement that you are not an online comedian or prankster. That is a very unfortunate and deep lie.

Yet you couldn't demonstrate this "willful illogicality" on that thread. You've chosen to make that claim here. Why don't you actually make that claim on that thread and support it?
I did. Here it is -

Thehomer -

- Claimed that time commenced with the big slam but then acceded that the big slam occured within a timeline

- Claimed that time commenced at the big slam, but that the timeline commenced at the singularity: which he says pre-existed the big slam

- Accepted that physical things exist in time and space

- Accepted that the singularity was physical and yet:

- insisted that there was no time at the singularity.

- Denies the obvious fact of pre-existing space given the expansion of the universe into already existing space by saying "i don't know"

- When asked the simple question: is it not obvious that inorder for something to expand, there must be some room into which it is expanding - avoids this starkly simple and obvious fact by saying that he is not sure if there must be room to accomadate such expansion.

That is the summary of wild contradictions which thehomer canvasses as credible science. I have pointed out these contradictions ad infinitum ad nauseum. It seems to me that the difference between my worldview and that of thehomer is simply that he takes current scientific thinking on any subject to be infallible: i do not. Otherwise he would not assume that the current scientific theories on time and space are exactly and infallibly correct - especially given the obvious contradictions and deficiencies that the theories throw up. I am of the view that it behoves a genuine thinker to prob beyond that which is offered by other human beings when such offerings throw up contradictions and inconsistencies.

In this regard i should mention the fact that people like Galileo Galilei and Nicholaus Corpernicus were derided in their day for propounding ideas that ran against the accepted "scientific" worldviews of the time. As it turns out, the questions and probes conducted by these people gave rise to better and more precise knowledge. Let us not be shy of challenging concepts that even Einstein has put forward regarding these things: for Einstein was only human: and you cannot tell me that science and knowledge will not continue to grow and expand beyond that which he knew in his day. If Einstein surpassed Newton's physical theories: surely with the passage of time and the growth of knowledge someone in the future may also surpass Einstein's physical theories, possibly even by contradicting them.

I will just leave a link to a discussion viaro, justcool and myself had about space a long while ago. That discussion i believe shows that some ideas about space may be wrong.

thoth: FXKing2012 whom i believe has better knowledge of the basic mammal anatomy and works of the nervous system has put it plain enough for you to understand. If i am to repeat albeit in the form of a question i would like to ask you - knocking the monkey out and cutting its throat(letting it bleed out and spasm for tens of minutes, having it wriggle in your hands in pain as it tries to save himself from the painful agony knife injury, having blood fill its larynx and drowning in its own blood while struggling to gulp for air) which one is more babaric ? The former lasts just a fraction of a second and the beast looses its sense of pain and the later lasts for tens of minutes amids struggle between the killer and the monkey as the brain is still alive and registers fear,PAIN AND ANXIETY. Do you know why their are more blood spurts in more intelligent mammals like monkey than other beasts ? Because the heart rate increases due to fear and anxiety which the animal experiences.
Now who is more babaric ?
But they still eat the RAW still pulsing and frothing brain. You smash a head open and immediately start eating the brain inside it, WTF? ? ?

Solozzo: Absolutely!

God has provided all our needs for free in this world. We expect him to spoon feed us all the time. Natural laws of mass, space and time keep the universe precise. God has no business answering prayers because all has been provided. It's like a mother who has stocked the kitchen full of food and her adult children are asking her to cook for them. It is the lack of understanding of the vastness, precision and laws of the universe exposed by science that make us belittle God by thinking of him in human terms eg a father, sitting on a throne in heaven and listening to you, watching you and doing miracles for you. Scientific issues like evolution , survival of the fittest, dinosaurs that lived millions of years ago mean nothing to a bigoted religious mind.

Because of our inflated self esteem, we selfishly believe the universe is about us and we lay claim everything on earth and misguided belief that God is here to serve us. We do not appreciate that there no significant between us and all living things

Their fellow humans composed mendacious so called holy books to control them. Most of the stories in those holy books eg the bible has been shown to be fictional myths written by clever jews to deceive and control other people. They were also coded in mystical language to communicate among themselves. We just believe these superstitious fictional works without questioning because they are in holy book. Eg universe created in six days, man made from sand, talking snakes in the garden of eden and humans living to 935 years of age just to mention a few in the book of genesis. Simple thinking would reveal their mjendacity eg how could Moses have written all the first 5 books of. The bible when he wrote about his own death and burial and things that happened after his death? When Herod killed all the male children under 2 years old in order to elliminate baby jesus, how did his extended family, his ministers and staff and the roman administration and soldiers react?

Time to wake up and think for yourselves people!
Our
Brotherly. You are so on point.
