Politics › Re: Insurgency: Nigerians Should Encourage Boko Haram Terrorists To Surrender: Ahmad by delpee(f): 10:44am On Aug 31, 2021 |
christaddicted: Mr El-Kanemi said Borno residents had suffered in the hands of Boko Haram but added that the terrorists surrendering to the government “is a welcome development.”
Senate President Ahmad Lawan says Boko Haram members willing to surrender should be encouraged to end insurgency in Nigeria.
Mr Lawan disclosed this in a statement on Monday when he paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El-Kanemi.
According to the lawmaker, the federal government and the Borno government will ensure the restoration of peace in the state and across the country.
Mr Lawan also pointed out that the surrender of the terrorists “is a good development for the security of this country.”
“I want to take this opportunity to mention that the federal government of Nigeria will continue to work with the Borno state government to ensure that there is a restoration of peace and stability,” said Mr Lawan. “The recent surrender by Boko Haram elements is a good development for the security of this country. “Those that have no issues to answer are sanitised and taken back to their communities. Those that may have issues to answer should be taken through the legal processes. But we must ensure that we encourage Boko Haram elements and those they have taken by force to come out to surrender so that this unnecessary insurgency placed on us comes to an end.”
He further stated that the government should do everything possible to encourage the terrorists to surrender.
“I believe there is no need for any controversy over what we need to do with people who surrendered. In any war, in every war, surrender is the ultimate. If we can achieve it, we should do everything and anything possible to encourage more and more to come out so that we are able to come to the end of this unnecessary insurgency that has taken our States back for so many years in terms of development,” Mr Lawan said.
Mr El-Kanemi said Borno residents had suffered great distress in the hands of Boko Haram but added the terrorists surrendering to the government “is a welcome development” because “Borno is a home of peace, and we are for peace.”

Theunbothered: You say this yet every man has stories about the "billing" Nigerian women give in the opening stages of the relationship.
That rubbish is so off-putting it makes you wonder if the parents of these women abandoned them. Well, I don't have many women like that around me. I wasn't brought up that way and I counsel those who see it as normal so the generalisation sounds strange to me. May God lead you to women with better values. |

ValCon888: A typical Nigerian girl has this entitlement mentality. They believe you must do everything for them. You must give them money, take them out, buy gifts, make their hair, recharge their phones (and still do the calling) etc.
You must give them money before they buy you gift. And they will only use 10% of that money for your usual boxers, singlet or roll-on birthday present.
She is never altruistic or selfless. If she does something for you, she expects you to do something even greater for her in return. It is until you date a foreign chick you realize a vast majority of Nigerian girls have nothing to offer.
A selfless, generous Nigerian girl is like a Taliban Christian. They don't exist. Haba ! Change your circle of associates if possible. There are selfless and generous Nigerian ladies. You only need to get to meet the right one. |

My cousin and some of his colleagues went to Saudi under similar circumstances in the 80s. Many of them including him were Christians. According to him, they appreciated the job satisfaction in terms of available equipment, good working conditions and the decent pay. Truly, most of them didn't take their wives and children along because of the religious bias. However, with good earnings, they were able to acquire/build good properties here and send their families/children abroad (UK, US,Canada) especially for university education. It's a good opportunity. Unfortunately, many of them still live abroad after retirement due to the situation here. A terrible impact on our health sector. |

Honestly, bikes are causing so much damage to lives. The riders are often so careless. An inlaw lost his son who rode on a bike within a campus (just from hostel to class). Worship God in truth and in the spirit. Know and obey His words. Meditate on His words. You'll hear from Him.
God speaks to us in many ways. It could be the "still small voice" or through dreams and visions. It can also be through promptings (like you suddenly feel the urge to delay on something and you later find out that you unwittingly averted/avoided a bad occurence). It can also be through divinely inspired messages from others. Unfortunately, the last one is what false prophets capitalise on to deceive those who are not spiritually strong enough to decipher God's spoken words on their own. |

I've had an interest in politics from very young age, hopefully someday I'd venture into politics and I'd need a platform to start from, am drawn to the south east because my mother's ties with the region, but considering the political climate of nigeria and requirements for running for office would it be possible to claim my mother's side as state of origin? Need your advice.
Lalasticlala would be great if these gets to front page. The major problem is that you can't contest effectively if you don't have grassroot support in your mum's town. Of course, some people will remind you that you're a Yoruba man. It's all about our competitive nature, not necessarily tribal issues. |
