There used to be many Yorubas in Borno and other "poor" parts of the North. Many of those in Borno moved Southwards due to BH troubles. |

-Transferring out my funds -Closing my account, and -Deleting the app right now
A bank that sells out customers to the feds is not a bank I wanna remain with.
Totally disappointed with this so called “Bank of the free”
BS! The reality is that all financial institutions are accountable to CBN. Once CBN gives an instruction, they must comply. Financial transactions of a particular limit are often flagged and investigated. It is mandatory to report to EFCC in some cases. So it's not about KUDA, others are doing the same thing perhaps "codedly." By the way, I have no business with KUDA or any of the new Financial institutions. I'm expressing my view based on my experience over the years. |

Family › Re: My Uncle Is In A State Of Dilemma. by delpee(f): 11:58am On Nov 08, 2021 |
Sonnobax15: Yesterday being Sunday, so I went to a match viewing center to watch the football game between tottenham hotspur and Everton... After the first half came to an end, an argument arose between an old man and a young man..The argument was all about the merits and ills of polygamy.. The old man's opined that a man who's married to many wives will have lesser marital Problems than a man who's married to one wife..
While the young man was of a counter opinion, insisting on the fact that a man who has only one wife will always have his peace of mind intact
Well, I was just sitting aloof, sipping my black fearless small small . ...But then I thought about a similar scenario happening to my uncle who has only one wife... Their marriage has been blessed with five sons, and of course my uncle is a very well-to-do man...And out of their five sons, three of them studied abroad...
So after my uncle's retirement from the oil company he was working,he sat his wife down and had a discourse with her that he'd love to sell his port harcourt duplex so that he can use the money to build a house in his village here in Delta state...But his wife refused, insisting that everything that my uncle has worked hard to achieve belongs to her son's,that my uncle Shouldn't even dare think of selling anything....That has resulted to a serious pandemonium in their home..And of which my uncle has threatened to divorce her..But his wife has kept on threatening my uncle that she'd wreck my uncle if he should dare divorce her .
The wahala has even deteriorated from bad to worse to the extent that their sons has taken sides with their mom..... One time self, they all ganged up and beat their father . My uncle has filed papers to a customary court,to divorce the marriage, because all the previous efforts he had made to take his bride price from his in-laws have proved abortive as they have been dribbling my uncle . He has vowed to sell everything, his shopping mall, his hostels, his other two storey buildings.....I even heard him complaining to my popsman that his wife has started to sell his cars and other things he left in his house..... Imagine someone who has different storey buildings now has to be a tenant in a two-bedroom apartment..
At this moment,my uncle has been plunged into a state of so much regrets, that if he had heeded to the advice of his kinsmen back then when they were advising him to marry a second wife, this wouldn't be happening to him .
This is very disheartening. The man deserves peace to enjoy his life in retirement. He has every right to build a house in his village. It's his hard earned money. He can choose to spend it as he wishes. The sons should work hard to build their own estate. Beating up their dad is sacrilege. I can't imagine that happening in my environment. They'll pay for it one way or the other. A godly and wise mother will not allow such to happen. Training children to wait for inheritance is so inhibiting really. The sons may end up selling everything. Yorubas say, oun ti a ko ba sise fun kii tojo, oun ti a ba fi ara sise fun lo npe lowo eni. Summary....you benefit more from the labor of your hands. |

This is true. These worthy principles should be taught at home and in schools as was done in the past.
There's so much exposure these days plus the human rights thing that makes enforcement of values so difficult now. Years back, a child could be corrected by anyone around. Now it's almost impossible. |

@Op You have been kind enough to allow her to go to her own Church. If that isn't enough, you need a review of the situation. A couple that plans to stay together for life will understand the need to always maintain a balance. You meet each other halfway. If one party must always have her way, there'll be problems later. |

Biglittlelois: I can never understand how church denomination is a prerequisite for marriage, I get the religion stance, but church? Is one marrying the church or the man/woman? How does Church denomination determine the right man or woman or a happy marriage/home? Is church denomination a yardstick or sure bet to making heaven? Discrimination in Christianity is not helping at all!!! It's embarrassing and annoying really. I keep wondering if we serve different Gods. Mode of service and traditions may be different but ultimately we're all expected to worship God in spirit and in truth. If that applies, we shouldn't have marked divisions. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is It A Must To Join A Department In The Church by delpee(f): 4:37pm On Nov 07, 2021 |
It's not compulsory but advisable. It's good to render service one way or the other. You're serving the Lord. It doesn't have to be formalised like being an usher, chorister, evangelist etc. Counselling, charity work, welfare services, praying for others etc are also ways of serving the Lord. What you do to others, you have done unto the Lord. |

Jman06: Or rather lazy wife fighting over property she does not own, so that she can use them to start flexing with his lovers!
Someone like me ehn, my spirit will be happier knowing that property and wealth are with my blood brothers than with some useless wife. Provided my brothers take care of my children's needs(that's if they're still small), I'll like it if they fight and claim my property.
Better still, I'll write my will, settle my children directly and also settle my brothers. Wife is not getting anything from me tbh, she should work for her own property! I've seen children suffer greatly because their Uncles took charge of their deceased father's properties. Many promising lives have been cut short or destinies delayed because of that. Brothers usually take care of their families first before they think of others. I remember the case of a man who trained his brother and later made him the administrator of his estate. It was always a herculean task getting him to sign cheques for the children's school fees and needs even though they reverted to public schools and they had sufficient funds from their dad's investments. The woman ended up taking on so many petty jobs in addition to the basic one just to survive. She had no say and wasn't keen on remarrying. May we be blessed to guide and care for our kids till they're strong enough to stand on their own. May we live long to reap the fruits of our labour. Always best to write a will. A wife can be restricted due to lack of trust but she remains the best guardian for her children. |

juman: I personally knew some people that lived in Ghana from 1920s, 30s onward. Many had many houses built in Ghana.
My father also lived there, he told us stories how they worked in gold mining. True. Many old mansions (for that era) in our towns and villages were built by those who went to Ghana to trade mostly in gold and cocoa. Some were farmers, miners and artisans. Ogbomoso, Offa and Ejigbo (more of Ivory Coast for these ones) people were successful in business on the West Coast. Many of our Community Schools were built partly from their contributions. I know some families who still have homes in Ghana to date. |
