You said you were not benefiting anything from the friendship, can you elaborate?

What were your expectations?

As friends, I expected her to call me as much as I call her. Anything she calls me she must be looking for a favour. I practically call her everyday, and it's been a week today that I stopped calling her, yet she didn't care to call me to know what is wrong. She is just expecting me to call and explain why I have not been calling. True friendship should be mutual, not one sided.

I have been reading Post on nairaland since 2010, but decided to open an account this year.

To my story. I asked a lady out for a relationship. Although,we were friends before I caught feelings. Everything was mutual, but since I started wooing her I noticed that I was the only one doing everything. She said she can't date me because she is not ready and she is incapable of loving right now. She really want the friendship to continue.

I was not benefitting anything from the friendship. I do the calls, I help her with her assignments, I listened to her boring stories, I was always there for her to lean on when she is down. Then one day after she visited me, I told her that the friendship is not healthy for my emotional health. I discovered myself, I deserve better, I should never settle for less, I should know my worth. I told her that if I ever become a second option in her life then she shouldn't choose me.

She was hurt by my decision, she told me she is embarrassed and disappointed in me. But despite my simpism, I thank God that I came out healthier. It was my love that made her extraordinary in my eyes, now she is very ordinary. When you love a person, you exaggerate the person, you are excited over their flaws. When you let go and you get healed you will realize that you deserve better.

I was dating a girl like that, she came up with no sex policy and was very serious about it. I didn't protest, I just followed. One day I met a girl and we chatted gisting naughty and she asked me if I find her attractive. I agreed and we ended up in my bed. To cut the story short, the new girl use good sex and good vibes to win my mumu button. I ghosted the no sex girl.

You are very correct bro. One guy told me never to settle for less. If I want relationship and didn't get it, I should dust my back and move on.

I don't see any benefit from friendship that started after I was rejected. I can't settle for less,if I want friendship I won't ask you out for a relationship. The girl that rejected me last year desired my friendship so bad because she was enjoying my attention, jokes, time and my brain, for free. I even called her everyday, but I have to grow up and focus. After reading this your post I just ended everything.

I perfectly understand you bro. We share the same belief in that aspect. I can't be in a sexless relationship. One girl like that gave me that condition, she is good, caring and loyal, but I told her to move on because I will hurt her. I was sexually active before she came into my life and I won't stop having sex because of her.

Life is one and very short. Do what pleases you. Anything that cost you your peace of mind is too expensive. Ghost the girl and live your life according to your pace.

Another girl like that in my department. I have practically done everything for us to date, from assignment to tutorial, from calls to chatting, even my Mom have her contact, but she said she is incapable of loving, na so I weak. I just followed my CGPA comot.

There was humanity before religion. I don't understand why people insult and condemn other people's religion in a country where we have right to religion and association? An educated soul should understand this.

When I meet a stranger, my questions are who are you? What can you offer? I don't care what you worship, that is your choice and I should respect that. When I have money, I will build mosque, church and even shrine when there is a need.

I love one girl like that, I asked her out she refused. I can spend an hour on phone with her, I will borrow airtime. I used my last card to organize picnic for two of us, I go to the hostel at night to see her. I called her every day. She friend zone me. When she visited me last Saturday I openly told her that her friendship is not healthy for my emotional health. She got angry but I meant it. She won't date me but she wants my attention, my simpism.

I have done every assignment for her, I have bought all the apples for her. I always want to impress her but I have to let go and move on. Life goes on. Life is funny, one small girl is choking me with love but I am loving this other girl foolishly. But my project and seminar has taken my attention from her. I am fine right now.

My problem is that the students won't feel any impact, nothing will change. She will cash out and leave like her predecessors.

The country is a nightmare, but living with one person for the rest of my life is more than a nightmare. I admire married people, but marriage is not my favorite imagination.
