Peebles23: I ve been a silent reader on this thread and I've read From part 1-3 digested information well and even introduced the forum to DH which he reads at his leisure time too nd this has made us well prepared was denied visa today did my interview in abuja with d guy in cubicle 6 oo went with DH, d my 18month daughter Went like this: DH: good morning Vo: morning sir/mam VO:can I have ur passports pls Dh: passed it over (since he's the one sponsoring the trip) VO; y are u going to the US (Facing me) Me: For vacation and childbirth Vo: kk types asks Dh wat he does Dh: responded Vo: kk, how much do u earn Dh: told him Vo: monthly? ( with suprise on his face) Dh: yes pls.... Vo: nd u ma'm Me: told him wat I do nd wat my post is responsible for. VO: typed and typed and typed and type 4 like 2 mins ooooo( he didn't ask for any documents oo) and the next thing was sorry ur visas can't be approved. I was confused like he didn't ask 4 any document nd yet he choosed to disapprove? Guys I need suggestions on wat uve tot might have gone wrong. As we intend applying immediately. so,so sorry to hear this,i would advice you start the reapplication precess immediatly With regards to your rejection,it could be because you dont have ties back home, since you are travelling with hubby and child, but again, whole family have been given visas before, cant really say what went wrong in your case, but will advice you apply alone next time so that kid and hubby will serve as ties to home country. All the best |

Joleenluv: Gd am ,wonderful Nairaland family, I am a newbie, been reading since April '15. Went for our visa today 14 Oct- Me, DH & my mum. Mum was granted me & hubby refused, our transcript goes thus: Vo: gd am, why do u want to go to US? Hubby: for vacation & to have our baby. Vo: what do you do? Hubby: Project Manager Me: Accountant Vo: How long have you been employed H: 3 years Me: 1 years 6 months (Changed my job, worked with my previous employer for 5 years) Vo: where do u guys want to go? hubby: Houston, Texas Vo: Have u contacted a dr? US: yea, pass across email correspondence & appointment letter Vo: Have you travelled together before? H: No but my wife has travelled severally alone. (UK, SA, Ghana) Vo: When last were you in the UK? Me: July '12 (But we both have current UK visas) Vo: I am sorry you are not eligible
Please NLers help as I don't know where we went wrong. I intend applying alone but the earliest date is Nov 9th and I am already 30weeks. Thanks q I would advice you to start the reapplication process immediatly and keep checking randomly for a closer interview date, folks here have done this and were successful, some ppl advice that you should check around mid night. you can also try another location, for example if you were denied in lagos try abuja next. With regards to your rejection,i think the main issue is that you dont have a travel history with your husband and also you dont have ties back home!do you have kids that you are leaving behind to serve as ties to home country? Would advice you to apply alone this time around,so that yor husband staying back will be your tie. Wish you the best |

bmanbaba: @All. I will like to start by appreciating everybody on this forum . I av read almost the whole pages from part 1. You guys are helping a lot of pple . please I av some questions. Although, some pple have asked similar question but I don't think d answers addressed my situation completely. I got a B1B2 visa with my wife a and Daughter in January 2015 for family vacation.we bought the ticket in march and schedule the trip for Sept. My wife became pregnant in May. We however proceeded on our trip in sept has planned. We spent exactly 2 weeks and presently back to Nigeria. It was while we were there that Frnd and family adviced us to come have the baby in the USA. Also at the POE,the officer there noticed that my wife is pregnant and asked if we were there to av d baby. We said No that we only came for holiday.which is true bcus we never tot of it . She will b due in Feb 2016. Please what are our chances at the POE. ? Thank you. So sorry for the lengthy Torry. No worries at all,poe has nothing on you since you guys have used the visa for what it was originally issued for. To be on the safe side you can do a change of intent mail to the embassy, then start the real preparation .i.e hospital search, correspondence etc. And most importantly read this thread in detail so that you will be fully equiped for poe and the whole experience. |

yemmyfinest: Good morning all and a very good morning to the gurus in the house. I have a question and it goes thus: Please when is it appropriate to mail the embassy as regards Change of intent? Is there need to mail them my budget sheet? I will be due in March, i intent to travel late Dec or early Jan 2016. Also is this appropriate ady to mail the embassy lagosNIV@state.gov. Thanks you as i await a reponse. I dont think there is any fixed rule or time for mailing the embassy on change of intent, since you are travelling in late Dec,you can mail them around the first week of Nov. With regards to the budget sheet,no you dont need to mail it to them |

customised87: Just like you, i also had a great time with my hosts. This is a family that consists of a grandma, son and grandchildren. I had never met them until i went to US to give birth. I was introduced to them by my brother's friend who happens to be the grandma's daughter. They made me feel home away from home. The hospital and the Dr i used were in another city that was like 1 hr drive from dre house. I was driven to n fro my Dr's appointment all through my 3 months stay with them. They never gave me attitude, whn i arrived their home, the uncle bought winter clothings for me and made me write a list of things i crave whenever they were going grocery shopping. When i had my baby, they organised a mini christening party for me(they r muslims while i am a xtian) and invited their friends that gave me loads of gifts and cash. I gave birth during the US tax refund thing and cos the uncle always change his children's wardrobe at this time, he also bought loads of clothes worth almost 1k dollars for my baby. He bought his carseat and even bought me too clothes. When i was coming back, i gave the grandma money but she rejected it and said she feels like i am paying her for hosting me. This is a woman that ll stay awake all night and cater for my baby while i sleep, she only wakes me when he needs to breastfeed. I lost my father while i was in the US and that whole family were there for me like they knew me from Adams. They needed to send some stuffs to naija which i was prepared to help them bring and pay for extra luggage but they followed me to the airport and didnt allow me pay, the uncle made the payment himself. I cant finishing saying all what i enjoyed. I just pray to God to help me to be able to repay this kindness to them. We have since become family friends and they keep telling me to bring my baby next year n spend time with them. I and my family speak with them regularly now. Sorry if i bore u with this heart pouring! God bless these people o,its difficult to find people that are this nice in naija self talkless of obodo amelica,God bless them real good. |

delvy: My dear wise ones i still seek your opinion on the questions asked earlier biko My thot, you have your visa already, you have correspondences and receipts of part payment, that should suffice for POE, somebody just mentioned some 'affordable' hospitals in NJ like 2 posts before this, (St marys and St Barnabas I think) Return ticket is a must if u don't have residency permit Gurus I try? grin Very well said, just to add to it. Just to be on the safe side you can also email the embassy telling them that you were issued a b1/b2 visa and you have used it for vacation but now want to use it for birthing, I'm sure you will get the generic reply. Just like was mentioned above, return ticket is a must if you carry a 9ja kpali |

The training is actually very true. I have all the documents from the school & my employer. It was based on applications earlier in the year and selections after mid year. Pregnancy happened in between but I didn't realise it would be so close to EDD and I didn't want to forfeit the opportunity because of the pregnancy.
It's my 2nd baby, 1st was born in-country.
As shared by mumtee, I'll just go with all the docs, and trust God they'll understand. I'll also explore the possibility of modifying the form like you have advised.
From all the feedback, I guess sending the email is not necessary. Right? I think you are good to go,i dont think you need to send them a mail since the visa has not been issued. Just be truthfull and explain to the vo that plans had been made for the training before you got pregnant and you have decided to have the baby there after the training and pls go prepared with all the neccessary burden of proof. Best of luck with your interview. |

i got in to Us via New York JFK to Charlotte in June it was not as easy as people say it here oh as I was delayed for almost an hour but they eventually let me in after seeing all my burden of proof.I got a package from the hospital for 5715 normal delivery, 8730 for CS , but doing labour after getting to 7cm baby heart beat was dropping, the doctor just said he can not risk it that they have to remove the baby Omo Na so I start to cry oh ,but within 5mins they remove my little prince,na so them term her as complicated delivery oh and said I was not eligible for the package again.my dear I got a very huge bill from the hospital for 21567 after begging they gave 30% to make it 15062 just for me and epidural 2990 and 50% discount was given, doctor bill 2480 and baby bill 3400 discount of 30% to make it 2404'pediatric is 1640 with 25%discount, pathology 285 for both me and baby, trying to pay all the little bills and do a payment plan for my self.My point is no matter how ur host is close to you don't listen to them follow ur heart if I had known I would have ported to Houston, elpaso,Atlanta or Chicago but I stayed back in Charlotte listening to my host now am paying all the bills myself she no even answer me.I have learnt my lesson I pray God see me through this gbese. I am writing to notify the embassy of my intent in my travel plans. I was just issued a B1/B2 visa via Dropbox so i did not have opportunity to fully explain my purpose.I am pregnant now and we have decided to have our baby in the USA. I have contacted a hospital and doctor in the USA for this purpose and we have adequate finances to cover all expenses.
I understand my visa covers for this purpose but would like to request you kindly update my records to reflect this travel plans, I will still love to use the visa for vacation later within the validity period. Also please advise if there is any other thing i would need to do.
Thank you. The above will do,it takes care of it. |

It all depends on the state you are going, some states accept forms notarised by any notary public, while others acceppt forms notarised only at the us embassy. Point of correction.its not any lawyer that can sign the consent form o,the person signing has to be a notary public. I would advice you to just wait till you put to bed and tell your husband to do it at the us embassy,i even heard they can help you send it directly to the pasport agency in the us (i am assuming this service is free) if so,this will even eliminate cost of sending it back to you in the us |

My visa interview is coming up in a few weeks.I will be going with my 4 year old son and am anticipating I will be asked why my husband isn't travelling with us and am wondering what a proper response should be. Truth is, he'll rather I use his ticket money to add for the birthing project. But I definately can't tell the VO that. He has his own business so inability to obtain leave from work won't work. Suggestions please. You can tell them that your husband is bussy at work, the fact that he runs his own business does not automaticaly mean he has all the time in the world in his hands. |

ekweresplace: Hello NLders in this thread, some of you may know me. I've been following this thread from prt 1 to 2 and have also contributed. I've been doing all these for my wife and unborn child. At a point I decided that I made her read through the threads cos she would be the one to face the VO alone, as I won't be there with her. Today was her interview in Abuja mourning hours. And to God be the glory it was a success. According to her, the interview lasted for about 5 to 7 mins. It was God's favour all through. She was honest about her intention to travel (birthing) and all necessary documents was packed. But amazingly, she didn't even open her burden of proof file jacket all through the interview, as she was not asked of any documents, accept the ones (Intl passport, visa app confirmation page, appointment confirmation page and passport photograph) she used for entrance. Infact, she wasn't asked for hospital correspondence, accommodation, bank statement, etc)... Let me stop here I will post the entire VO scene (experience) in my next post... Long and short of it was that it was the Lords doing and it is mavelous in our eyes. Congrats to you and dear wifey |
